Athens, GA – On October 9th, 2024, Alpha Phi hosted its annual “Mac & Phi’s” meal-on-the-lawn event, drawing over 800 attendees and raising more than $11,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation. This year’s event was one of the most successful in its history, highlighting the chapter’s strong commitment to philanthropy and its dedication to supporting women’s heart health, leadership development, and academic scholarships.
Held at the Alpha Phi house from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the event brought the University of Georgia community together for an evening of delicious food, games, and live music. Guests enjoyed custom mac and cheese with a variety of toppings, adding a unique and crowd-pleasing twist to the event. Along with the signature dish, attendees played corn hole and other games, contributing to the lighthearted, festive atmosphere.
What truly made this year’s “Mac & Phi’s” special was the live music provided by two talented Alpha Phi sisters, Amelia Duffner and Cameron Koporc, who performed throughout the evening, creating a warm and engaging environment for all in attendance. The blend of great food, entertainment, and games made this year’s event a resounding success.
The record-breaking turnout of over 800 attendees and the impressive $11,000 raised underscored the importance of this annual event in Alpha Phi’s philanthropic mission. “Mac & Phi’s” not only raises critical funds for the Alpha Phi Foundation but also fosters a sense of community and shared purpose. By bringing students, faculty, and local residents together, Alpha Phi is able to raise awareness for the Foundation’s efforts to improve women’s heart health while making a direct impact through the funds raised.
“This year’s success is a testament to the strength of our community and our chapter’s dedication to making a meaningful difference,” said Blake Racine, VP of DEI and Philanthropy. “We are proud of the overwhelming support we received and the contribution we’re making toward heart health initiatives and other vital programs through the Alpha Phi Foundation.”
Alpha Phi’s ongoing dedication to philanthropy was on full display during this year’s “Mac & Phi’s” event. With over $11,000 raised, the chapter continues to make a lasting impact at UGA and beyond, while raising awareness for the critical issue of women’s heart health. The funds generated from this event will directly support heart health research, educational programs, and empower women to live healthier lives.
