We are talking about um greek fraternities and sororities specifically omega sci-fi and we’re doing that um just a little bit of a back story i had a subscriber a few months ago asked whether or not christians should join these organizations and i felt like it was a

Good question because a lot of times um college students especially college students who haven’t been exposed to greek life and they’re christians they want to know is this something we can be a part of is there anything that these orgs do that would cause me to compromise or anything like that and if

You’re not in the organization you wouldn’t really know how to answer that so i’m going to be talking to my brother right here who’s actually been in the organization and knows a lot more about it than i do so if you all have a chance share this with a friend um this is

Going to be a treat but without any further ado i just want to say hello shaheed how are you what is the word miss titus and i’m doing good always doing good in the name of yeah how about yourself i’m doing fine um i’m excited because i’ve been wanting to to interview pretty

Much everybody who’s been a part of out from among us for a while i’ve been watching all these announced videos over the past year and i’ve been so inspired to hear these different stories so i want to thank you for coming on tonight um before we get started what do you

That you’re trying to reach out um but let’s go ahead and get started so shaheed can you tell us what school you attended and where you played yeah i i went to prairie view a m university it’s right outside of houston texas it’s west of houston texas and um

I pledge omega south of fraternity incorporated and specifically the chapter was real theta but we were known as the bloody rotated chapter uh one of the only chapter that wore black boots versus you know most common chapters that you’ve seen they have the go blue song we were the black boob chapter

Wow is there a reason why you guys wear black boots or is that like secret information yeah no i don’t mind sharing so i honestly do not remember the very specifics on why uh we you know wore black blues i know it was related to you know military etc

But there were some more specific terms on why we award black boots at the time but uh it started off as a military organization the chapter and stuff how they all started back in 1970 et cetera so it has a lot more history that i’ve

Kind of let go of uh up to this point but yeah to say the least yeah and they were uh known as a very ruthless chapter uh as you can see you know majority chapters were cold boots than being black boosters those how they kind of did their own thing you know so

Okay how long were you in the fraternity before you got out of it um i had joined spring 17 and i renounced um and so we officially crossed i got online around late january early february of 2017 we i renounced a membership that was october

2018 so i’d say about a year and a half and i sought the organization out for i want to say about four and a half years before i ever became a part because i introdu i got introduced to it as a freshman in college and that was 2013. so so

Were you a christian before you went to college or is that something that came while you were in the organization yeah i would i would like to say i was a christian only because i believed that yeshua was real i believed in yahweh i believed that he had died for our sin etc

Excuse me but i will say that my life was not a reflection of that in my beliefs while i was in school so uh i would say i was a proclaiming christian but i was yet not a follower of yeshua which is jesus in hebrew

Gotcha so it could be i think it’s uh like a lot of people they are professing christians this is very popular in america because we’ve grown up in church or our family are christians so we just assume that we’re christians and then when you actually have that born again experience

It’s like oh now i think now i get it now i get it but you know a lot of times people don’t understand that until they actually become legitimate believers but so what was it about omega sci-fi that interested you in that particular organization yeah great great question so it was the

Vibe man it was the uh it was the camaraderie it was the family like being around the brush the kills like no matter what it was the cookouts etc even just community service events um they gave you that family feel they reminded me of being at my grandma’s

House when i was a young kid you know having something to um you know like if it was a cookout you know all the food was always good seasoned well et cetera good fellowship good dialogue when people had arguments or disagreements you know you can fall out go over there

And wrestle in the grass and be good friends right after you know just the way they solve problems so that’s what drew me to it and uh at the time like my character was probably closest to the cube than any other secret society and me being unfamiliar with secret societies in

General prior to going to college when i got there i’m like well this is kind of the person that i am these people seem to act more like myself and they’re kind of about the things that i want to be about in life as well so why not be a

Part of what they are you know already joined well there are a lot of christians in your chapter yeah man you know it’s funny because omega just the fraternity the fraternity as a whole is a um christian-based fraternity okay and so and every every every fraternity is you know as they say

But see you that’s the difference is when you join you know you got a lot of people that said that believers but you know to say the very least you don’t even have to be a part of a fraternity to say like you’re a christian but speaking just in general right now

There’s a lot of people no matter what we associate ourselves with that proclaim they are christians and they are very lukewarm to say the least you know and there is a difference i like to say there’s a difference between saying you’re a christian and being an actual

Follower of yeshua uh and someone who has actually laid their cross or picked up their cross rather and laid their own life down amen amen so for your particular um your chapter because i hear i hear a lot of organizations say we are non-hazing i think all of the national organizations

Say we do not haze we we don’t do this and from the dialogue i’ve been having with people who are in divine nine online they all say we don’t haze was that your experience did you haze and did you participate in hazing other people yeah that’s all a lie so i would say

That’s like the uh you know to say we’re a non-hazing organization people like to look at it only as if it’s physical but hazing is a mental thing too you know what i mean but yes we we definitely hazed i participated in hazing i took pride in being hazed and being able to

Say you know oh yeah i’m made i’m the madest dog out here whatever however you want to you know word it and then also uh after i became a queue there was prospects and other people or potential joiners who were interested in the organization and i’ve hazed people

Before and so we definitely hate and i think that’s just something you say but you know um people who are not just naive gullible et cetera i would say they kind of know you know you’re going to get hazed you’re going to get touched at least that’s the

That’s the perspective of the notion we all get you know what i mean and uh some organizations just to say the least you know they they uh and it’s all the spirit behind it is but um you can portray yourself as a made person without having ever been touched before

Which is very interesting um but yes for omega and rotheda chapter yes uh we were definitely haze and hazed hey yeah or who may not know in the in the live chat what does it mean to be made oh okay so um to be made is to be touched uh so

To be made is somebody who’s been physically beat up you know um you know versus being paper so paper is somebody who joins and goes through the basics like okay well we gonna have step practice every day up until the day we probate or until we cross excuse me um

Or we’ll have you know like workouts and stuff like that you know or just we’ll sign our name and pledge allegiance to this uh secret society versus being made it’s all of those things plus uh being able to claim that you went to set and

To say that you know you got haze you got beat up you were bruised you blood uh you bled you know the blood uh sweat and tears you know like you dang nearby to be a part of this organization that’s what being made is so what if someone chooses not to go

Through that process like what how are they treated within the organization so in the beginning it kind of depends because there’s always somebody that’s going to be in the organization who probably wasn’t touched as much if at all and they typically treat it with no respect at all it’s they’re pretty much treated

Like somebody who’s still online until you gain the respect you know what i mean and you gain a respect by coming to more events just trying to actually be involved because you know there’s people so let’s just say you have a line of five people

You know if you have a weak link on your line uh and they don’t want to show up to set you know but the school you know the organization doesn’t want the school to think that anything is fishy is going on they’ll still cross everybody but

That one person who didn’t want to show up for example will be looked at as a paper person versus a made person and they’ll have to still earn their respect and it’s funny because you actually have some people who go in under the paper route who end up becoming some of the

Best organizational leaders if you will and then you have made people who obviously will stoop down and do nothing so it kind of just depends but they’re not treated well in the beginning but i will say they can definitely earn their respect in a fraternity or sorority

So why do you think that college students would put themselves through that to be uh in a fraternity or sorority in your opinion because i know you can’t speak for everybody but what do you think so for me specifically i think it has to do with

Lack of um or just lack of knowing whether or not well who you are first off as a person um it could do with weaknesses for some people um i don’t want to say it was a it was necessarily a weakness for myself but then again it may have been right i

Think people who have lacked strong support and households you know like just a family structure growing up and also people who are people pleasers who want to prove something not only to themselves but to others around them that they’re cool or that they can hang

With the world or just you know like to meet the status quo or to meet these stereotypes et cetera you know what i mean so boils down to like a lack of just knowing who you are ultimately what’s your question i’m sorry no you’re fine i was just going to ask

If you went to a hbcu or pwi yep prairie view a m university is hbcu yeah one of the uh it’s an hbcu yeah so okay so i went to a pwi and it sounds like the culture might be a little bit different between greek life and on black college campuses

Versus you know predominantly white college campuses do you know if that’s like true or if that’s just a stereotype yeah i think it’s different um i think it’s different only because at a pwi i would say it’s more like diverse if you will um i think the the hbcus you have um

Obviously you’re associated with more people of color that looks like us but besides that it’s not a huge difference rather it’s not a huge difference it’s the environment it’s the diversity that’s the only thing that makes up the difference but in terms of the actual organization they’re pretty much ran the

Same besides minor tweaks because of chapter differences okay yeah i know people probably i’m trying to be as charitable as i can because i don’t want this to come across as if i’m bashing everyone who’s in a fraternity or sorority technically i’m not in divine knot okay i am not in divine night

When i was in college i i pledged a fraternity it was more like on the academic side and nobody ever touched us okay i’m not made i’m not made but from my own personal experience we did things and i know that the university did not authorize us to do those things so i

Know if we were doing that i can’t even imagine the stuff that was going on in the denial organizations but you know we heard rumors i heard about people getting slapped and people getting wood and all that stuff but um that was several years ago and now

People are saying well hazing was that was something back then people years and years and years ago do that but that’s not something that really goes on now can do you know as a 2021 do you think that hazing is still like a common practice yeah most definitely um

So it’s it’s not as bad it’s not as brutal so i would say this that when hazen first started when hazen was a public thing back in the day it was uh it was brutal because obviously it was tolerated it was acceptable in society now because it’s become illegal from a

From a lost standpoint people try to hide from it which is why uh they try to you know they give you this underground if you ever heard of the term you know i’ll place you on the ground you know what i mean so it’s still definitely going on up to this day

It’s not as much because you have to do so much to hide from it but they gonna get it in whenever they can however they can well thank you for being honest about that i think that um a lot of college students like if you’re really wondering whether or not you should join

An organization i’m not going to tell anybody what they should or shouldn’t do but i do think that you should count up the cost um ask people on your campus if you are actually doing this if you’re going to these interest meetings ask them you know parents who have college students

Who are going i think you need to look out for any signs because a lot of people get hurt i know someone personally who got seriously injured and almost went to jail trying to get into a fraternity so you know people should should be aware um even if they do decide to join

So we’ve talked about hazing but there are some other things that i think could cause concern as far as whether or not christians should do this um i said this in a video a few days ago if you’re not a christian then this conversation really isn’t for you we’re talking about

Bible believers people who want to follow the ways of god if you’re wondering if you should join an organization this is a conversation for you but shahi were there any other things that you participated in that were common within omega psi 5 that you just know that they were not lining up with

The word of god no not not really because you know being a part and that’s how a lot of people try to justify being in secret societies is because it’s not really now i’m going to be very watchful with how i say this um okay so upon joining organization you should

Never pledge your allegiance to any person form thing matter whatever the case is right but see when you pledge you have to uh you bow down right at the at the actual ceremony when you’re at the altar but when you’re on your knees and you’re blindfolded at least this is what

Happened for us hand on the bible and you’re reciting this ritual and you’re making this this promise or you’re saying this oath and binding yourself up because everything i mean like the battle is not flesh and blood according to ephesians 6 we know that everything is spiritual okay and so

Because of this you’re binding yourselves to all of these yokes that you don’t even know are actual believers if they’re just saying they’re believers or if they don’t believe it all or even if they believe in other gods such as like lie buddhist guys or whatever it is that

People choose to follow religious day you know religious practices so taking oaths is the number one no-no you know because the bible says like you know you should not take oaths and you know it says like how your yays let them be yays and your names let them be nays

And anything beyond yes or no is from the evil one that’s number one and then in number two is uh so hazen for example is illegal you know what i’m saying from a law standpoint whether you’re a believer or not but from a spiritual standpoint that does not exemplify love okay

Galatians 1 10 talks about um you know like if you were somebody that’s trying to win the approval of man you would not even be a by servant to yeshua hamashiach which is jesus christ and so uh being a friend of the world trying to prove yourself to the world is it

It’s it you know it’s it doesn’t make you a bond servant to jesus our lord so that’s the third thing i would say not anything in terms of going to parties anything you do in secret closets where you know like you don’t want anybody to know what you’re going on the stuff that

You’re doing the fraternity whether it be the good things like community service giving back on the bad things such as hazing you know wild parties et cetera these are the same things you could do in the world whether you’re in the organization or not so i would say

No it’s not really much but from a technical standpoint when you break down the little things from a spiritual aspect and it’s like yeah those are the things i would say a complete no-no okay so uh okay i ain’t mean to make that a long win

That was good because i know like we we really want to know people keep saying um the rituals online are not these are not our organization’s rituals now i don’t know because i will never get to be initiated until making so far especially after this even if they

Became co-ed tomorrow they not let me in i’m sure after this but but you know i’m glad that you’re here to tell us okay so the organizat the rituals that are online i know you can’t speak for all the organizations but for qci-5 which i always wondered why you always

Call cues if it’s omega sci-fi maybe that’s a conversation for another day but um that ritual that’s available online from your experience is that the actual ritual or did somebody make that up and just put omega stop eye on it no most definitely that’s the actual ritual so that’s the actual ritual

That’s exactly like so the word play that you see from the best alive from the uh the neo fight from the uh i forget the other the other positions but we go through the whole ritual like verbatim you know it’s so it almost feels like you’re in a play

And you’re just a part of the play you know what i mean but the different tests there’s five tests for omega and those tests uh those are played out differently you know what i mean i think they were probably practice like that back in the day those

Tests don’t look the same but they say they serve the same purpose so for example like a fake test for example like it will be some kind of act of you know just showing or trying to prove that you actually have faith in the brothers of omega sci-fi however the way

That it’s explained on the ritual is not how i experienced it okay so at least so as of 2017 the ritual that i read online is what you participated in that is correct yeah and so from your experience is it possible to get into the organization without doing some form of that ritual

You know uh from what i know i don’t believe so i think everyone goes through the ritual because the ritual is um i mean that’s that’s the covenant you ultimately make you know to the organization you’re giving allegiance to omega um and you can you can go through the ritual without being

Hazed nowadays you know what i mean yes i mean because it’s really just a play on words you know and besides that you know those five tests whatever that every chapter is doing the test differently now some may take it to those same extremes but if you just look at it from like

I mean you don’t you don’t have to be hazed to to be initiated or to you know participate in the rituals so okay and you know what since we’re talking about rituals i actually have some of them up here let me see if i can go ahead and pull it up

Lord let technology be with me tonight sometimes it just here it is okay all right so i’m going to read this actually before i read it can you explain some of these words what is a neophyte a neophytus so when you join you become a neophyte so that would be a

New joiner essentially okay the best lie will be um the best lie will be essentially the president over the organizational chapter of that time or district um and then any other any other titles you want to know if i can answer as well okay all right so this is just a little

Snippet um i can’t remember which test this is i want to say it’s test number three but it says the room shall be darkened furniture removed and the neophyte conducted therein such questions are here asked him and answers exactly as shall give theoretical proof of his

Faith in those he calls friends he shall hear upon be offered a pill containing smith and blue and told to swallow it if he disobeys the pill shall be forced down his throat under threat of severing his head from his body this done one of the members within

Hearing of the neophyte shall exclaim alas brother you have made a terrible mistake the pill you gave our friend is from the box which contains poison by this pill his career is cut short and he’s thereby ushered prematurely into eternity here all members shall go into a panic

Calling for help doctrine sending word to his relatives and arranging for details of his funeral and assuring him of their friendship even to the grave he shall then be made to swallow q9 being told that it is an antidote to the poison giving him um

Shall he are you still there oh we may have lost him no i’m definitely still here i’m sorry i’m trying it’s just moving around okay no problem do you remember going through that particular test yeah did they make go ahead and pull that up one more time sure yeah

So the furniture is removed they’re saying you got to swallow a pill then they say you you’ve taken the wrong pill then you gotta swallow another pill so yeah so we didn’t actually use a pill um i forget how we actually did it um i forget and you know what let’s come

Back to that when if i remember and i’m not holding out on any information at all okay i’m just trying to because it was it wasn’t an appeal but i know that what we did practice was something i want to say like the brothers came into the room

They probably tried to scare us or something but mind you were blindfolded through this whole like the whole ritual we were blindfolded up until after we said the oath on our knee with our hand on the bible and once we said the oath everyone was able to take their blindfolds off seeing

The candles lit the altar etc etc and then you were now uh a new joiner of the you know the fraternity and so all of this stuff was done blindfolded so you just had to hear the different acts and i have been able to see it because i’ve witnessed other

Lines after i became a cue i witnessed other lines pledging so you know you kind of see how it was done yeah that’s that part was concerning to me because i’m like okay i hope they’re not actually having college students take pills that they don’t know what they’re taking

It just makes me wonder like if this was written down somebody probably actually did this and if someone is that anxious or desperate to get into the organization would they take that like yeah and you know what um that pill that pill that they would take so

First off even back then when they actually practiced the ritual the same exact way um the pills they wasn’t going to actually poison you to kill you you know because that’d be jeopardizing those lives right you know but um the pill i want to say the quinine peel if you were

To actually take that today the only thing you would do is like turn your your uh your urine blue you know what i mean and i think it turns your urine blue for like 24 hours or so they say and then you know you go back to normal

And it may have some side effects that i’m not aware of but you know um that’s what it does is no major effects considering it’s just religion you know they ain’t trying to take you out the game so if you take the pill you probably will live to tell the story hey man

Probably i wouldn’t take that chance and then the other part about them threatening to sever your head from your body like is it that serious now i know they’re not actually doing this but this is crazy stuff right so that stuff is just to scare you it’s just it’s like anything it’s just

Like because you got to remember you’re blindfolded while this stuff is taking place and so i went in whenever i was becoming a part of omega i already knew the game i just didn’t know how the game was going to be played you know so i expected to be

Hazed that’s what excited me you know that was one of the things exciting i wanted to be able to take pride in saying i was able to survive x y and z but i think that’s primarily uh something that goes in effect for those people who don’t know anything who

Actually go into these secret societies believing that this is actually christian based or believing that this is not actually a hazing organization and so when you’re threatening and you’re in your mind in that place it’s like man well they about to cut my head off so

That’s what i’m about to do you know do it right yeah and you know i’m glad you brought the hazing back up because you sent me some pictures that were pretty disturbing i’m going to warn everybody i’m going to wonder they’re not that bad but they’re pretty

Intense so shaheed sent me some pictures of what he looked like after um this was was this immediately after initiation yeah this these pictures came right after initiation however like how your body is bruised or how my body shows on the picture you know like this is this is

This is the type of hazing that you get pretty much every day while you’re online or anytime you go to set like you can be hazing this way or any other ways you know so it’s not like you know these bruises and stuff happen on one night throughout the whole entire process

This happens multiple times this just happened to be the day i took the picture so if you if you can’t take this then turn away for a quick second but here here they are so these are pretty bad i mean when you sent this to me originally i could not

Believe it i honestly could not believe it yeah it’s it’s uh and you can kind of see like if you i don’t know if you can zoom in but on that left picture uh you can almost see like a big handprint like towards the middle so

This is this is only hands you know being slapped against your body etc you know and people of my skin complexion are a lot more sensitive it’s a lot more visible but this is uh just being slapped left and right you know with different hands etc and some people you know i

Mean it can get a lot worse than that you know you get hit in your legs you know with different stuff different items at times you know even another form of haziness you know just a more common form of hazing is being paddled on the butt so your butt can look just

As bad as that does you know if not worse uh for people like myself it may be so bruised it’s blue or green you know or you can develop blood clots etc so it gets pretty tense you know remind you in those moments especially when you’re online with other brothers if you will

It’s almost like being in a gym with a lot of people like it hurts to press this weight but because of the adrenaline and everybody else around me also throwing weights around it almost like eases it you know what i mean you still feel the soreness but you get you

Know that energy from everybody else being involved it’s like well you’re not going to be the weaker link and back out you know you’re going to keep going so yeah how long was your um was your pledge process like is this something that happens over

A course of a few weeks or months like yeah it’s probably about three four months so i would say about three four months and that varies on chapters you know what i mean some people they get pre-pledged to pre-haze et cetera that didn’t happen to me you know you run

Errands and minor stuff before you ever join these organizations for people but from the time you know that you’re actually online up until the time that you go through initiation process or you actually um probate at the school that’s about three to four months worth of time

So like i hear a lot of people talk about having to stay up really late and like get food for people did you have to do any of that yeah every single night so you know anytime the is called you want to be there and a lot of times they

Call you and you only got five minutes and you’re 20 minutes away you know so it’s like actually no room to meet the expectations which leads to other problems as well so it’s all really just a big game but you know like for myself

It it was more of a mental thing for me just because i knew what to expect i just didn’t know how it was going to come my mind and heart was already prepared to take whatever i used to go into stuff saying like the only way i would not

Become a cue was if they killed me you know like the only way i would not become acute is if they literally kill me so i was already ready to go to the extremes you know but yeah um you’re going to stay up late studying memorizing poems songs and stuff because

You got to recite this information and learn the history every night you asked it they wanted to know something what you learned last night did you meet this did you meet that and every time you know like you got stuff you got to learn and on top of that you got to remember

You’re still a college student so you know versus a college athlete or a student athlete you’re now like a student pledgee and so you’re trying to balance out keep your grades up because you got to have a certain gpa to cross you want to meet the expectations so

That way set or this hazing process isn’t as aggressive each night and then also trying to make sure you’re taking care of your body as well yeah there’s a little bit like i said we weren’t really hazed that wasn’t made but i do remember having to go to those

Meetings and learn that information and that’s that was a lot on me and we didn’t i know we were we were standing up all night and running errands for people like it was just you’re gonna take this hour and a half or however long our meetings were and

Just go over this over and over and over again and people normally really aren’t that nice to you when you’re trying to join a greek organization so exactly yeah yeah um was there like a divide between people who were greek versus people who weren’t greek like in the black community well

You went to hbcu so it was the whole community was a black community but you know like we all in our little black bubbles or i hate to say it like that but that’s kind of how it was um was there a difference yeah it was a difference and it it’s

Very unfortunate that it’s like that but uh and prairie view actually became a lot more diverse than i ever expected it to be but it was definitely a difference especially like if you was you know just the gdi or what they refer to as a uh um a god d-a-m-n-e-d individual right

Um or you know just a regular person who had not been you know pledging to organization but you know when you pledge you know it does create this line of separation and you tend to hang out more with you know the people that you pledge with if not other members profiles of the

Organization or your new yos if you pledge others versus those who are non-greek you know when you try to like find the balance and stuff um i never really had like a group of people that i just kicked it with day in and day out besides the queues or so and so

And plus i stayed at work a lot so that didn’t really apply to me much you know i was pretty much cool with everybody so it kind of felt like family like family yeah it still felt like family you know i can honestly say like i

Kicked it more with the cues but the cubes were like my genuine friends before i’d ever known what q was you know what i mean and so it just kind of all tied together versus some people you know not knowing anybody or having friends outside of organizations and

Then they pledge and they abandon their their real friendships for these new friendships yeah you know college can be hard especially for people who’ve never been away from home for a very long time and then you get all this freedom so like community is is extremely important and i think that’s why people

Um are willing to go through this kind of stuff yeah and you know i i gave my testimony testimony whatever i i said in a video like i really really wanted to be in a particular sorority and they didn’t choose me and now because i said that all these greeks are like you’re

Just saying this because you want to get it and you think i’m like i really don’t care anymore whatever call me a gdi but um i just want to rewind a little bit a gdi is what um greek members call those who are not greek and it means gosh

Gosh darn individuals hey man hey man i love how you did that was on the fly i like that gosh darn individual so i’m sure i was called the gosh darn individual sometime um on college at the time i didn’t even know what that term was like i literally just found out what

That was from watching like uh out from among out from among them videos and also watching some of the videos from people saying you know these people who are getting out the people who are doing videos against you guys are some of them are pretty vicious and mean um but anyway yeah

Part of these organizations and never experience what they intended on doing and a lot of it has to do with us misleading people and not telling the full truth you know holding back and you know selling false hope to people yeah it seems like you know i’ve heard them say this

Throughout my college experience do your research do your research but then when you actually do your research and you find this they say well just just ignore all that none of that’s true like don’t listen to those people who are saying like it just seems totally contradictory

To me like why why now that i’m doing research you’re saying the research that i found is not valid man i’m gonna tell you like this this it’s valid while you’re online because that history is the same history the research that you can uh find before you’re a member it’s the same

Stuff you pretty much learn while you’re online and then when you cross you learn different information it’s not to say that the old information is not true it’s just not the stuff that’s going to get you through essentially you know when you get charged up or however you

What i see on the outside and looking at how things make me feel just about being around the brothers etc you know what i mean you know this history is not what’s drawing me to the organization so when they say do your research what they really mean is go on the national

Website yeah read all the good stuff yeah that’s it look at oh look at okay we were founded in this day on this day at howard university this started by these four founders these principles are you know manhood scholarship perseverance uplift etc they want you to be able to break

These things down know about different members know about honorary members you know information is just history you know for organization that was founded in 1911 and then we 2017 you know it’s like and it’s a hundred years old as it is so many things have changed you know wow

For me or that what i did was very courageous and i just give our glory to yahshua you know because without his strength you know i wouldn’t have been able to even say what i said you know got tired of sitting in the room and everybody’s seeing the same thing take

Place and we’re all saying that we’re believers but nobody is willing to step up so i felt obligated to do so you know it got so bad tired i couldn’t even sleep i had anxiety staying up in the middle of the night literally could not sleep wrestling with

The letters because as a neo which is your first year of pleasure until you become or until you get more initiates you are supposed to do the work and basically uh keep the frat alive until you get new members to keep the frat alive so all the work fundraising

Events parties anything you do is supposed to be done by those new members and when you have new members who don’t help out or old members who don’t contribute they can’t so even after you get in the organization you still kind of got to prove yourself is what you’re saying

Yeah most definitely especially like when you go to different schools like you gotta when you go to school you gotta call the bros before you get to the other yard dawg i’m coming to the yard okay cool and some of them friendly some of them not but yeah you gotta prove yourself to

Other men you know in galatians chapter 1 verse 10 talks about how we are not supposed to do that but you gotta prove yourself you’re gonna uh hit people with charges you’re gonna hit them with you know fraternity history see what they know teach me something you teach me

Something you gonna wreck which is wrestle with each other some people go to further extend and just fight but it really don’t ever really get to the fighting standpoint unless stuff starts to get taken personal this is stuff that typically gets worked out you’re going to hop or march your way out of

Situations you’re going to have to do chance you don’t have to teach somebody a stroll or something but you’re going to give some kind of knowledge uh to win the approval just so you can be cool while you’re on somebody else’s yard most definitely and even when some

People come to your yard you know yeah i’ve heard stories like that my one of my best friends who’s in a sorority you know people think oh you just you don’t have no people in your life who are i love d9 folks okay we friends with

Friends but she said when she went to someone else’s campus and her and her sister soror started to line dance that the the girls on that campus were pretty much like who do you think you are like right and now typically stuff like that happens if you don’t tell nobody you

Coming yeah you go to a party you pop up and kills is strolling and it’s like the cubes didn’t tell me they was coming out here what chapter you from and what do you know who do you know you know that kind of thing all of this prideful stuff man it’s just pride

And then there’s those videos out there like people catching people wearing the the paraphernalia who aren’t in the org and that can get pretty spicy too so i is it true that like someone even if you’re in the organization if you don’t answer a question that they felt like

You should know that they can just take your stuff yeah i mean i used to do people like that and i’m so sorry for even doing that kind of stuff but there was i mean i did that to people who was in the actual organization for just not knowing

Stuff but that has to do with pride you know um and just you know just trying to be big and bad you know what i mean but yeah definitely these people who are uh they call them or they call them perps people who are perpetrating afraid okay

And you run up on somebody because there’s a specific question uh that you ask people uh and there’s many specific questions honestly and a lot of this stuff has been leaked and just online anyway but let’s just say even from the ritual you ask something about it and somebody

Doesn’t know the answer there’s basic information that every bruh is supposed to technically know uh whenever you are approached and if you just got a hat on a t-shirt and i asked you something about what you got on and you don’t know what it is it’s like well you don’t have

Join the organization and to experience at least a year of undergrad life being amongst other greek members or the divine nine but you don’t have to put yourself in that predicament it’s not even guaranteed because um i was supposed to pledge like the 2015 2014 2015 but if you ain’t

Got the credit hours you’re not gonna do it and then you are solely dependent on this line not being suspended due to their activity and you don’t know what they gonna do some people have lines that are you know suspended due to hazing or whatever it is banned from the

Yard and so you know like you waiting for something if that even be the case but you can definitely to answer the question have a a very um a positive you know influential or you know a very productive college experience without having joined now a lot of these hbcus i

Don’t know ty about the pwis but some of these things like even homecoming it don’t even look like homecoming it looked like greek coming you know because everything is just greek you know yeah so yeah besides that now i think you could be a lot more focused though because being a

Part of an organization when you join as they would say being a part of these secret societies is harder than actually pledging that is true the pledge process lasts three four months sometimes longer sometimes shorter sometimes it’s only a couple weeks but when you join

It is so much time work and effort that has to be dedicated devoted to these things to keep them alive and it takes away from who you are it takes away from the things that are actually important in life especially from a salvation standpoint like you’re gonna find yourself giving more to these

Organizations when you’re trying to be the best at it then you do your own personal relationship with yahweh and it’s hard to serve two masters you cannot serve two masters you will literally love one and hate the others not to mention the money do you remember

How much you had to spend yeah i probably spent like two three thousand dollars to join it wasn’t you know like i think like you have like your you have your overall fees and then you have your chapter fees it’s somewhere between two and three thousand dollars i think like the application

And the uh the national fees yeah it’s around two three thousand dollars and i’m gonna tell y’all like this i was a barber in school and i made some pretty good money but when you pledge and you don’t have time to really go and do stuff for yourself you ain’t

Got time to really just eat and take care of yourself you’re going to lose weight i didn’t even i had to stop cutting hair whenever i was online and so i didn’t have income coming in and um then you spend this money and i kid you all night a year it took

Me like a year after pledging to really just regain my mental back you know from all that goes on but yeah financially like two three thousand dollars which is a lot of money for a typical college student first off that’s a lot of money you’re paying to be friends y’all yeah

I know a lot of them they don’t like to say that but it just kind of seems like and then a lot in a lot of cases you’re really not even guaranteed friends from what i’ve heard because some people still feel isolated within the orgs especially if you didn’t go through a

Pledge process and some people did like it can get pretty pretty bad yeah everybody’s not gonna be your friend you know you’re gonna have real friends to this day i still talk to sometimes you know i may be in the same place as other cues and it’s all love it’s all

Good a lot of brothers still feel the same way i feel some of them don’t but genuine friends it’s like these are just differences at the end of the day like you know you like going out versus i don’t like to go out clue we don’t have to fall out about it

Understand what you’re getting at how can christians say that they are brothers and sisters with non-believers amen you’re exactly right and that’s a great question so you can’t i mean you can say you are because oh we genuinely we get along we keep it together we grow together but

Salvation is everything to me so if you can’t grow spiritually together then we really can’t grow together but from a worldly standpoint because you only have two options in life you got heaven and hell you have yahweh of satan you have this or that you know and it’s like and

The bible says uh don’t associate don’t have no fellowship with those who practice like deeds of like lawlessness or darkness so i forget how implicit but you’re not even supposed to eat with people like that you know so um and i’m not saying like i can’t

Eat with muslims because i do right yeah i can’t eat with people but it’s from a spiritual standpoint you know when you serve two different gods you under two different masters you it can get very dangerous spiritually and then manifest itself in the flesh but you can’t consider yourself like

That that’s why it says not to uh make oats don’t take oats and that’s what you do when you take that oath before you do anything else when you take the oath with these people on your line if y’all not followers i can guarantee you this

We have never even in a fraternity had a bible study but i know that if we had a bible study it would be people getting out left and right and because the word is is quick fast sharpening in the double-edged sword you know the word but that stuff is real

Yeah and the bible talks about how you can’t be friends with the world and be friends with god amen that can be tough again being a college student when you’re just like i just want to be accepted i want friends and that’s not always the easiest thing

Especially when you’re trying to be a christian because there’s just so many like temptations and there’s a lot going on so it can be tough but you have to remember that god’s word is true and that a lot of things that people get involved in once they get

Into the organization i don’t know from experience but you know some of the things that i saw from from a distance some of the stories that i’ve heard it’s just it’s really not worth it in the long run it’s not it’s not worth it man

And you know he says on what you just said ty says he that is in me is greater than he that is in the world i like to say like if you look at it from your physical eyes it’s like i’m outnumbered everybody’s a part of this

Stuff i’m left out but you got to remember and it and it takes faith in just actually believing it and knowing it in your heart that who you serve as your lord is literally in you and it’s greater than anybody you can see or fathom you know

And when you believe that i mean you won’t actually have these same desires of the world if you stay rooted in your word you know your desires are just supernaturally going to change you won’t have much to worry about right and that this is the beautiful thing about um becoming a christians you

You gain a whole family like the bible talks about if you leave even your mother and your father like god will give you those types of relationships here in this life and i’ve seen that like and i i get the rejection piece because you can feel rejected because an organization didn’t

Want you or you can feel rejected because you got in and you still didn’t get those relationships that you thought you were gonna get like it can be tough but on this side of it now that i’ve kind of lived a little bit a little bit

Of life lived a little bit of life seeing the faithfulness of god like i didn’t need an organization to um get a good job and get some of the things i really wanted to accomplish in life and i legit like my church some of my church people are in the in the live

Chat right now we genuinely love each other right and we don’t have to earn that love we can be honest with each other like hey this hurt me or we can say hey sis i think we can build in this area and and they don’t have to bend me over and hit

Me with a block of wood to do that nor does god want want us to do those types of things so um am i hating on people in organizations no but what i’m saying is being within the kingdom of god is just such a treasure it’s such a valuable

Thing even the the um parable about the man who found the treasure in the field and says he he buried the treasure and went and bought the entire field yeah and as a believer like you you really get to see that and experience it and it’s just so sad that

A lot of college students think that they there’s something better in in a greek organization whether it’s a black greek organization or any other type of thing like this but the kingdom of heaven is just it’s just better man it’s way better and it’s essentially what we

All are looking for when we are seeking these other organizations and you know sometimes they leave you empty or you’re delusional and you think that you’ve been fulfilled but as as todd mentioned like this stuff it’s nothing better than it’s like me and ty we we talk every so

Often but when we talk it’s always fire and that’s just because we serve the same god at the end of the day and i know at the end of the day if you need some i need some we in the same place we different we connected to other beliefs

Et cetera site you got everything you need just as much as you would and i mean really way more than you would in any of these secret societies so it’s a beautiful thing definitely i mean i can say i’ve only been doing youtube ministry for a couple years now but

Just doing this i’ve been able to go to different parts of the country like meet all different types of wonderful people shout out to the bodega and the bodega ladies and gentlemen y’all so yeah like there’s just so many things when the bible talks about abundant life there is abundant life

When you follow the will of god for your life and it comes with a lot less tears like of course things are still going to hurt but it’s not going to be one of those oh gosh like i so regret doing this or saying this or going there

I really want the college students to get this like you can have a good life in college without being in a fraternity or sorority and you can be very very successful without them like i have friends in kenya africa right now right shout out to everybody in kenya amen they don’t know anything

About black greek life they have no idea about it like it seems like a big deal when you’re on campus but then when you talk to people in the world like your employers that the what you know dependent depending a lot of people have no idea what design

Is a lot of people watching this thing right now have no idea what it is i’m not saying that to like belittle what what good things the organizations have done because they’ve done some very very good things community outreach and all that i’m just saying as far as the grand scheme of

Things you guys yeah it’s not that big of a deal there’s a big world out there right yeah all right he just says why are greek orgs portrayed as a necessity for black college life good question um good question so i can’t say that actually applied to me so i won’t speak

On it much but from what i’ve heard from others it’s it’s really just a traditional thing that gets passed on from parents or other people and families and just you know they desire their their younger ones their kids to go out and do the same thing

Uh it can be just from a prideful place it could even be for just uh achievement just being able to say and acknowledge like this is what i’ve accomplished some people try to start new legacies like for myself nobody in my family had ever went to college and graduated so

I went and so essentially had i stayed active or you know stayed active in omega and had kids and you know encourage them to do the same you know i would have started a new legacy so you know but it’s not a necessity at all i

Mean you go to college for an education and as time mentioned you know some people in the world don’t even know what this stuff is and they’re doing just fine without it they they only fulfill the lust of the eye the less of the uh the less of the flesh

And the pride of life it’s the only thing you can get from it honestly that’s right that’s right because i mean at the parties and stuff i didn’t go to a lot of parties in college i told you i can’t dance i got two left feet and

That’s okay god kept me out the parties but you know all the line dancing and all this like people it’s like they’re treated like celebrities i think that can be a bit dangerous i’ve even heard like people who are cause i’ve been listening to a

Lot of greeks ones who are still in the orcs saying you know people on campus they just want to be my friend because i’m wearing these letters now i can’t really trust nobody so it’s like another form of isolation so now you really do feel like the only people who

You can really get down with are people who wear your letters because they don’t want anything from you amen that’s right all right james says when you see brothers of omega or any organization out in public do you approach them and spread the truth to them

Yeah sometimes i do it depends on how close we are now i’m not chasing no cues down in the store like dog what’s up i’m a follower but i’m definitely like i i was in walmart a couple weeks back and the guy was literally chasing me around

The store he said he literally his wife was a delta he was a queue and he was paraphernalia down all the way down and he was like uh man i’ve been looking for you i seen you coming to start been chasing you down what’s up team

You know hit me with this and i was just like what’s going on man how you doing he hit me with his like you know his uh his tag and stuff and i was like yeah man i’m actually a former member man i actually renounced i gave him my old

Attack but i’m like i’m a renounced member and he was like oh dog and he’s older and so this is what happened so i always anytime i love fellowshipping with the cubes because the cues is i mean they at the end of the day i hope everybody receives this

We are all still people at the end of the day these are decisions that we have made and when you come to certain knowledge you make different decisions as you mature and grow and when i see a cue i’m always there to share the gospel

With him and if he knows the gospel i’m just led to fellowship with him in general but yeah i break that stuff down because most people they ask me should he because i still have brands so if i wear short sleeve or shorts they’re like oh what’s up when i tell them i

Denounce sometimes people give me the look name like all right okay they dismissed the conversation then you got others who say you know why’d you do it and there go my door to share the gospel that’s awesome have you seen like anyone that you’ve ministered to actually come

Out after talking to you oh yeah man i ain’t gonna lie i am not lying glory be to yahweh the most high for this whenever i denounced i thought it was just me and my god brother p who’s 54 55 years old now i thought it was just us who would denounce

But until i was obedient and denouncing let this stuff go that yahweh had put on my heart and it was like until i became obedient i did not know anything else but whenever i did do so and i’d announce it seemed like week after week i met a

New person who was seeking to denounce or somebody who actually left omega sci-fi until this date i have probably i know for a fact over 25 but roughly 30 to 35 members of omega sci-fi uh specifically phone numbers in my phone um there’s one actually who’s asked

Questions in the chat but who have come out of these organizations who have come out of omega specifically and uh it’s been a beautiful thing man to because i was like out you don’t see many brothers just publicly denouncing or renouncing on youtube social media or whatever which is no problem but when

You be obedient yahweh has a special way of connecting you with people who you need as accountability you know and as like-minded individuals as well right right leah want to go back to the money she says god is free hey man that’s the three thousand dollars for fees in these ortho do you

Know man i don’t know technically that’s a good question but it goes like so you have membership fees which may pay for you to be quote-unquote active for three years when you first join and then you’ll pay like a fee every year and some people pay a lifetime

Membership fee which is probably a bigger fee that uh grants you activity um which really doesn’t even matter at this point because like there’s brothers who come around who are not financially active but they still participate you know what i mean so this stuff ain’t even that technical nowadays

Stuff the fret has changed with the three thousand dollars it goes so to say the least secret societies is the business okay it’s a business so you’re just funding the business without knowing what the business is trying to produce now the business does they do host events you know they do have grand

Conclaves which cost money they do have community service events so it go towards things that they actually pay for you know obviously but that’s not to say every single dime goes towards what you can actually see i would not be surprised if there was people

Living off some of this stuff but at the same token you know what i mean and that’s probably on the national level but um but omega sapphire is a business at the end of the day and uh and as you know uh my ex brother peter yeah community

Service projects pens history books and functions yeah that’s that’s where the money goes so some of it probably does go to good um good sources definitely no most definitely most of it goes there yeah then again you know when you’re just giving the money you don’t ever technically know

And look at that salary yes calories hey you gotta there you go leah right there that’s the that’s the money that’s the money woman the salaries oh here go another one the lawyers the lawyers yes these lawsuits that’s a great great great point so look whenever you want to sue because you’ve

Been hazed or because your cousin just died look they got money on their side okay so i hope you got some money too man i was reading i’ve read this in several books that have been written by my members of people having to pay astronomical amounts in settlements for hazing lawsuits i’m talking

People’s home owners insurance policy amounts of thousands of dollars i didn’t make y’all need to go read walter kimbrough’s book black greek 101 and you need to go read african-american sororities in fraternities and sororities this a whole book of essays written by d9 members who are saying this hazing stuff it’s in our

Culture and we pay a lot of money when people get hurt by it okay all right beauty says why do members get so upset and even hateful when a person chooses to renounce denounce sorority fraternity a person’s individual testimony should never take the next person that far to be mean

Yeah great question i wish i knew but i know that it’s not flesh and blood that we deal with once again all of this stuff is spiritual so whatever is in you is going to come out of you when that pressure is applied um most of the hate

That i’ve ever received is only in the comments for the most part of my denouncer renowned videos and it’s crazy because half the comments from brothers who claim to be like god-fearing or christian-based and so and they bash you at the same token because you made the decision to

Essentially follow yahweh in a more sacrificial way by letting go of something that they hold dear to their heart but i don’t know beauty why they take it so personal you know it is just a decision but to some people omega is all that they have or other

Organizations all they have and that could be because when they was brought up in the world maybe they didn’t have that family structure growing up or maybe they was never associated to a church home um etc and so sometimes we use organizations to feel a voice that

We are not even aware of yeah yeah you know people use all types of things to fill voids and that’s when they become idols god is like listen uh take my yoke upon you because my brain you get i’ll do the work for you okay just come on to me all all

Who are heavy yeah right yes right because that’s another thing that kind of you know saddens me about the culture of greek life not just black greek life but greek life in general this this idea that you want a certain type of person you know you want someone who’s already

Kind of put together and then you want to take that person and then mold them into into more of what your organization stands for and that’s just that’s not right god accepts us um for who he’s made us to be we are made in the image of god in likeness so

He already accepts us he does not accept our sin which is why he sent his son to die on the cross for us um but still the idea that we don’t have to work to prove ourselves to god that he already wants us to come that’s good news right amen that’s the word

That’s the word amen all right now i’m bringing this comment up because i actually heard a story about this and i y’all can look up the youtube video he says john minister stevenson jr says don’t be surprised when you find out these orgs are trafficking now

I’m not going to say that d9 does this i am going to say that i i saw a story about a sorority in d9 where women were actually being prostituted amen so i don’t know how common this is i’m sure i i’m sure that the national organizations would not be okay with

This so i don’t want to you know make it seem like oh joseph talafero says i know what are you talking about where it happened at um you got to be careful ladies and gentlemen too like there are people that prey on college students and so you should never be doing any

Type of sexual act to get into an organization which is another form of hazing unfortunately do you know have you heard anything about that on your campus nah i haven’t heard much about that on my campus but you hear about it and you know what’s going on because regardless

Of if you see it or not you can see the fruit you know like even uh pledging i forgot to mention this but like even i don’t know if you’ve ever seen this time this may be explicit for the ears who are listening but i’m gonna be real with you

Even passing egg yolk from mouth to mouth to mouth down the line of members of members is something that i’ve also participated in and that stuff is like it’s not as it’s not as i guess excruciating as sex trafficking but this stuff is ungodly it’s other forms of hazing and

Like in our right minds prior to ever knowing what a secret society organization was this is not acceptable this is not this is not what we’re teaching our kids right you know but this is what’s condoned in order to become a part of something and we like well we’ll just

We’re willing to give up so much of who we are as people for the sake of being left empty when you obtain something that you thought you saw value in but really gave you nothing in return right right oh that passing the egg i was hoping that was just something that i’ve

Seen people do a movie so you’re saying the people actually do that yeah i did that and i was in the middle of the line so when it got to me you know it was just like you know past it and it’s actually you know and the

But i felt led to do especially after meeting my man’s brother p but see the bible says count the cost but see you really can’t count the cost of these organizations because you think you’re gonna be all right and mind you life still went on i still had bills to pay

For etc but mentally you’re going to be messed up without knowing it and you may try to feel voice and drink yourself to death for whatever it is that you’re indulging to make yourself think that you are okay but when you actually get in a place in yahweh’s presence and

Sit still you’re gonna realize that you are messed up even when i denounced i needed so much encouragement and people they they they give you all this backlash because they think that you made a very easy decision to leave and they don’t realize that this was one

Of the hardest things i had to ever let go of and i needed so many believers and support around me just to refrain from going back you know what i mean yeah so it does take a toll on your mentor but yes count because count the cost that’s

Why we’re doing this because i want y’all to at least make an informed decision you don’t have to listen to us as far as what you decide but at least know before you get into it what you could possibly get yourself into um actually has another question do you

Think that tactics really built true brotherhood and she follows up or what makes them think it builds brotherhood i just feel like resentment would be huge someone forcing the whole team to have to do something over and over man i’m going to tell you i like this

It’s going to sound crazy but there’s a lot of things that it’s a lot of positive in these organizations okay it’s minor things that are major spiritually that make it contradicting to our faith but there’s a lot of team building activities or even some things that are foul

But you know like the fruit of them is death but uh like some of the tactics used actually do build character and build um you know like this brotherhood essentially and i’m not talking about the foul perverted things okay but there are things that actually bring

You closer to your brothers you know as the same stuff you would do if you were just working on a team project at your at your job you know what i mean or you’re in your class or something you know they bring you together you share you know same ideas and stuff to

Accomplish the same goal you get through it i like to say it like this you start off like you know making a grilled cheese you got bread you got cheese and it’s cold it don’t stick but when y’all go through heat together you learn to stick together you know what i

Mean and so it’s kind of like one of those things but then you have those people who are not really like genuine friends but yeah it does create this kind of brotherhood all right i think we have one last question from beauty do you think a spirit takes over members whenever they

Perform strolling etc i’ve seen a chain of relatives and friends when it was time to entertain has it happened to you yep beauty great question so i was the march master of my life so um i was always in the front of the line leading the

Strolls the hops etc and so being in the light but um i wasn’t really too swayed by the people because um not to sound arrogant i kind of knew a lot of people just before i joined i was like one of the main barbers in the town in general

Or on the campus so um so i kind of zoned out whenever i would stroll and i kind of just wanted to be the best hopper marcher or whatever and but yeah i do believe the spirit took over and i actually got that confirmation because

I was strolling at a party one night and a friend of mine was like hey dog i seen you on this girl’s story let me show you he showed me her story on instagram and she was talking about how the cues look like this strolling and

Stuff and i heard this other girl in the background of the video and she was like she he scared me when he did that neck roll and that tongue thing it was just it was just scary and you know and it makes you think to yourself like you had never intended

To be scary to somebody you know because in your mind you just struggling but i definitely believe that there’s a spirit that takes over us and uh you got to believe in the spiritual realms in order to even acknowledge that you know somebody who is not sanctified filled with the holy ghost

They’re not going to see it that way so those arguments can be very um dangerous but yeah something takes over i think joining the organization something takes over it just grows as you indulge and then you find yourself becoming a monster oh that’s sad yeah i’ve seen the change

In people um not to say that people became bad people after they pledged but there is like a there is a shifting that takes place and some of those things can be good i can even say for me the the organization that i was a part of when i tell you my

Public speaking skills definitely improved because i was in that organization like i have to be honest about that i have to be but then i also have to be honest about you know being convicted going to chapter meetings and we’re praying to god but not saying god’s name

Amen come on and i know that when you when you pray you’re supposed to say in jesus name like who am i talking to who we’re talking to so i know people probably are wondering like is this something that i need to consider if i’m wanting to join any type

Of greek organization because i heard there’s christian organization there’s business fraternities or secret uh honor societies all these types of things um i would say if they are doing the things that we’ve talked about tonight and you know about it yeah but if you know about it really really consider that because

As christians i know it can be hard again being on college campus and trying to have fun and also trying to like live for god it can be it can be difficult it can be very very difficult but it’s worth it amen it’s totally again it is definitely mm-hmm
