Oh Sorority is an organization of women who gather together for a singular purpose right and so that means like a Sisterhood you get together you may not be Sisters by Blood giving out of these Sisters by adoption or whatever the case may be but you have this singular mind
You have an idea that you want to get together for some kind of purpose so each of our sororities that are represented here on the panel um and those that are even not here with all our Founders came together and said we want to create an organization that
Will serve fill in the blank purpose and then created that perfect they create that purpose they created a constitution they created um an organization that would serve the community that’s what all of our organizations have in common okay and what’s wonderful about this they’re very as you see that they’re very
Sorenas and various fraternities and so there’s one there’s a lot in this competition because the aka’s and the Deltas and they went to this color and the others with the others whatever the colors are one of the reasons we’re here as the Divine mind is because as much as
We have our our sorority that we love and support and and that’s how we really even Define ourselves in many ways where your assistance even with wearing other organizations other sorority so it’s really important to know that uh whether the brothers with the fraternities the male the Virgin and the sororities
We are all United in terms of being the divine nine there’s no three players I just wanted to know if I’m just a statement of that and once you go to college you’ll see whether you go to a pwi which is the predominantly white institution or in hvcu which is historically black College
University the HP uh black system for Chinese authorities are lifetime commitments some returns authorities or college campuses are not the only are active during the 40 years that you’re in school but we know as black folks there are things they have to do once you graduate they forget
To go back into our community and make sure that we are engaged enlightened and to make sure that everything is done properly so we have a lot of time living within our organization this doesn’t just stop once you graduate from college I’m sorry just one important point fraternities and sororities are not
Based only in Greek death right so this black history month I am encourage you to look on other fraternities and entities right principal Masons anybody learning the maintenance right Eastern Stars right um National Council of legal women I can name a ton of other organizations that will be considered fraternities and safarics
Is actually one of those organizations that means reforms uh if our group is what’s known as a social function we uh fall in line with uh the Fraternal of organization structure uh we are a Brotherhood we are a lifetime to make them as one of our panelists uh
Mentioned uh our history our uh origin the right from Africa so that’s where our uh Essence derives for me so just wanted to just make that distinction there and I’ll also pass it over to my brotherhood okay so I’m going to give you a little yeah so we’re a little different
Stand-ups I love my organization I’ve been in it for 35 years I played the Howard University and everything I hadn’t got to play for you go into the dorm you’re planting you’re in the van you’re playing you’re going to the cafeteria you’re planting it but um the difference was that group social
Fellowship started in the midst of the Civil Right um error and the the thing was that it was a lot more really starting to have about five in what they do so well our Founders were starting at Morgan State College at the time was now Mormon State University
Wanted to have something that was a little bit different than the organizations but Conor was the essence and the roots of where we come from so that’s why we differentiate from the different forms they shared still have a lot of room in fact one of your D nines
Came from uh from our fountain with our Founders iotas either those came to new Founders to find out how they can navigate through the administration of Morgan State so we’re all family when it comes down to it we may wear different letters but the essence is we’re all
Here to help the Next Generation get to where they need to be that’s good um pretending to have a finally familiar organizations um we have about four or five uh black male fraternities most were performed uh on HBCU campuses Howard University and others uh we perform at the time the cause
Most of the uh well all of us African-American at that particular point in time was someone alienated so the fraternities came together so they Bond and primarily get through college um and that was one of the primary reasons for the the formation of hp’s police in the uh fraternities now most
Of the brothers noticed his platform uh we we all from from different organizations but we all part of the same organization and that’s the human race there the the black human race in in the world and we all work towards a common goal to better
Our Youth and in fact if you look at all of our our uh Mission States and mandates people find that the Baseline is educating Our Youth and education council president yes so I think that kind of cheats on another question that’s coming up but um I happen to serve as the uh the
President of the National panhellenic Council of Nassau and Suffolk counties so what that is is it’s um a council that’s made up of all different organizations so I’m the president of that as far as Nassau Suffolk goes the difference between our Council here on Long Island and maybe
The council in New York City because there’s one in New York City and in all over different places we do not have um Iona Phi Beta as one of our organizations on Long Island because they have a new york-wide chapter and that chapter is involved in the New York City
Um Helen and consonantly Council brings all of the different um D9 organizations together to form one group where we have Community programs Partnerships all across uh we’re here as a paneling Council as well as the is a bit of a distinction the D9 is who we are the paneling council is an actual
Organization that has bylaws and all that stuff so that’s a bit of a little bit differentiation but we all do the same thing and if you notice our brothers here on Fire Group who wear black and white the colors of the paneling Council are black and white as
Well and that’s just to let you know that we are all the same we all share the same common goals and we come together as one one group even though we’re in different organizations
