18 at Kennesaw State University a part of the Pi Phi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and it was honestly the best best moment in my life I enjoyed the sisterhood the bonding the experience so much I actually pretty much kind of miss it now that I’ve
Graduated but basically the reason that I mean I’m speaking on this part of is part of my channel it’s because I recently was literally scrolling through Instagram about to pull up the thing right now so as I was going through Instagram and I felt like a lot of repaid
I was you know being nosy going through the comment section of the HBCU app they had like a little nk8 strolling and it was like who’s the best the deltas on a case that’s stroking out whatever it’s always gonna you know look at the comments to see what people are saying
And I came across this one calm me and it was like future Alpha Kappa Alpha to beat you guys she had pink and green harm if so immediately I don’t mind reread it twice to make sure I was reading the right thing and so I was
Like let me just you know I thought about deeming her but I was like I really don’t even know the girl so let me just like leave a comment under her comment and so I was like discretion is key I even put like the little unlock
Key and the little key beside it of the emoji and I didn’t really know that I was gonna get as many likes as I did I didn’t really think it was gonna I knew people gonna see if I really didn’t think it was gonna be paying attention
To it and so people like it was almost like 20 people that liked that comment and then someone added me two people added me the first one said um at chase essentials these interests need role and then she and the other girl who posted the future and came to be there like
Going back and forth in the comment section and then another person added me but before I can you uh see what she commented the girl girl leader hurts with her comment but I can still see that I try typos you can literally just see like blanks like you can’t really even
See what the person had and I was like what day but I said all of that to say that I thought discretion this key was like common sense I didn’t realize that a lot of people really did not know what discretion was so I was like I really
Need to make a video for people who really do not know about greet life or how to maneuver their way around the Greek system especially in Paige see because NPHC is different than all the other councils like every other councillor doesn’t move the same way and
So this is just basically what you want to be and everything what’s be the other ones from this video just basically like mixing things that you need to know you didn’t already know if you want to join a great sorority or more specifically a NPHC sorority so without further ado
Let’s get right to the video that was such a mouthful You you so you guys look I even work my green aka sweatshirt just for this occasion like I was like let me just wear something you know Greek for this video again has to be great I’m sorry I will just throw this sweatshirt I’m literally
In my pajamas so the first thing is do your research make sure whatever organization sorority that you want to join that you know what they’re about that you know their purpose that you know their mission to what why they were even created make sure you know what
You’re getting into before you join a sorority so moving on to the second one the second one is loose lips sink ships and there’s basically you guys like I told that other girl discretion is key because you don’t want so what’s a join your organization it can’t keep secrets
About you know secret things that goes with home behind closed doors like that is no one’s else’s business but tax authorities and also loose lips sink ships you will lose your own blessings if you go around telling everyone that you want to join that organization if
You go around you know say bad things about members of that organization that you wanna join our stuff you know like that gets back to us on a second I mean I do not mean that like partly it honestly gets back things that you have said things that
You’re doing the way you’re moving you know if you said something bad about my organization our sister network is nation that you want to join then that gets back to that person because everyone is going to talk like everyone is going to get back so make sure that
You’re not losing your blessings by running your mouth and talking bad about that subordinate or that person in that organization that you wouldn’t do it that’s that’s Siri Siri what is the definition of discretion behave you speak in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information
So number three why why do you want to join the organization and this all falls back to research no your research and like going and doing your research into why you want to join that particular sorority so honestly why do you want to do it next week that’s obviously a
Really big question why don’t do it just for clout don’t do it because you wouldn’t walk around in that pink and green and look you know it’s done on them I don’t do it for Klout and I’m like I really know people like who only wants to be a part of sorority and
Fraternity for that cloud for it saying wearing those letters across their chest they can actually feel like they’re something if you weren’t nothing before you join that organization you’re still gonna be nothing after you join the organization so know your reasons have valid reasons why you want to join that
Sorority so number four show interest so how do you show entrance but still use discretion at the same time so I’m gonna give you a little hint of how you show a little interest you know let me just three i’m attend events so make sure you’re attending
So we’re it’s in the events make sure that you’re actually standing up speaking it’s your name also at the end some horn ization times me degree so at the end go up you know introduce your name say hey I’m Jayden Austin um I really enjoyed your event blah blah you know make
Conversation so I’m gonna be honest with you guys we meet about 25 to 50 different girls at each event and when every new person is coming up to you on each of it you cannot remember all of their names that is just not really possible so basically the whole thing is
A business transaction you’re going to a business meeting you’re going to an interview and trying to promote yourself and trying to get yourself out there and make sure that you seem like the best candidate for the job that is basically how you know sororities and like we remember you guys
Because we can’t remember a hundred people that are introducing themselves to us every single time we’ll remember those people that stand out so make sure that you’re showing your interest discreetly it’s an event and sitting out but we are into number five no drama and what I
Mean about no drama is don’t have any beef or any problems with anyone that is in that sorority that you’re trying to join because if you have a beef or one of those girls you have a beef with that whole entire line that whole entire chapter it’s going to look at your
Sideways because you have a before I give a problem let one person and so my mom told me this before I went or before I even went to college and that is do not talk to a man that another girl and that’s a birdie that you won’t enjoy
This already talking to and I know men like they cheat their last by oh you’re the only one I’m talking to but make even if I even if you know they’re in solidified relationship and that made a still tryna holla don’t go for it because having drama with and have
That means without one girl into this or that you want to join it’s not gonna end well with you so making sure that you do not try to steal another girl’s band that’s the sorority that you want to join cuz that’s a clear-cut way to get
You in style of you ever joy in that chopper that’s already so make sure that you steer clear of that your man so coming in at number six I know you guys will not like this but it’s the honest truth Greek life is not for everyone everyone
Is not meant to be in an organization and that is really like all I’m gonna say to that because this the honest to goodness truth like everyone is not made for great life so coming in number 7 lucky Oh 7 is one word commitment and I
Like to call it the empty pill and that stands for money time in life alone being a part of a sorority I mean invite like we’re living our best lives and we are about the same time there are so many things going on every single weekend multiple things going on and
Money is going to be spent and so if you just don’t like if you’re honestly I mean some people are notes just don’t have it like that so money you’re constantly broke especially within your in college like you’re just constantly broke cuz they’re consoling things going on every single weekend and so it’s
Definitely a money commitment it’s also time commitment there are some times that I even like no leave class earlier sometimes even skip class because it is a time commitment try to get things tougher events having homework that you cannot finish till about like twelve o’clock at night
Because you had an event to attend and you know it can be a part of it so it definitely is a time commitment and if you’re majoring something great serious like you know nursing or biology or something like really DUP you’re going to be spending a lot of time on you know
Being a part of that sorority because what is the purpose of not putting time in in that story that you want to join there’s no purpose of even doing it if you really do not have the time to even join or like you know help and be a part
Of that sorority that you decided to join the last thing being part of nasc means lifelong commitment and like a lot of people stay active for a very long time I’ve seen people die in their colors like they’re buried in their colours of their organization so it definitely is a lifelong commitment of
Service and giving back and you know community outreach so whatever sorority enjoyed it’s honestly going to be a lifelong commitment so coming in at number eight is patience is a virtue you’re dealing with no different personalities and different people who approach life in different situations whether you’re coming from a line of
Three to whether you’re like 36 like I am every single person’s personality is going to be different and every single way that person is going to approach a situation is gonna be different and coming together and having an event or doing anything is going to be difficult because you have so many different
People’s perspectives on things and how they want to the show to go out how they want to shove it right now so patience is definitely a virtue when you’re joining a sorority because honestly sometimes just the breathe and then come back to it so definitely have patience throughout any situation especially on
Your life so patience is definitely a merge Okay so coming in at number nine is don’t believe the stereotypes every single person in that organization is not going to have the same the eka a stereotype is that we’re bougie in that we’re stuck up every single one of my my sisters it’s not bougie and they’re not
Stuck up you might have you know one person in that line or in that organization that fits the description but not every single person in that organization is gonna fit the description that is physically impossible so libertad’ don’t be a sweat job and what I’m being back to the picture don’t
Say or go to one interest meeting and you didn’t get in that one so you decided to go into another interest meeting for a whole totally different other organization so do not be a switch-up because honestly that’s gonna be looking that’s going to look bad on
You and that’s gonna be a bad reflection on you because honestly that’s gonna say that all you want is the letter so that all you want it to be actually someone on campus that’s gonna look totally bad on your part so like I said do your research and you know which organization
You want to be a part of prior to even showing your entry number 11 it’s called confidence not cocky and what I mean by that don’t go into the event happening that for something that you’re already an aka that you’re already in Delta because coming off as cocky can honestly send their own
Message to the people that are in that organization because until like I second and so you have that pin on you those letters on you that official membership you do not have it in the back if you have that special membership card no so do not come off as cocky because
You’re you’re not even a partner organization yet so f here already are come off as confident have that worry of confidence about you when you speak when you walk but I’ll come off as just perhaps you the wrong way so number 12 watch and listen watch what that organization that you’re interested in
Is doing on campus watch how they move you’re not only they’re not only scouting year you you’re scouting the organization seeing what they’re a part of seeing what community service they’re doing to seeing what events they’re having seeing how the different members of that organization move across campus
And what they’re doing in different organizations rather than their particular server that they’re in make sure that you’re watching and listening to how that sorority or that particular chapter foot functions on campus so at number 13 I’m not previously stated this but make sure that you’re following that particular chapter on whatever social
Media site they have I know lots of chapters are only it’s a ground now so make sure that you’re following that particular chapter on Instagram because a lot of the information is posted on there whether it’s advanced whether it is informational meetings whether it’s interest interest meetings I know
Several organizations chapters who post their actual interest meeting Flyers on Instagram so if you want to join that sorority make sure that you are following them because actually we’re all of the big events that’s where everything happens so you can make sure you’re showing actively that you’re actively showing interest and number
Fourteen GPA the higher your GPA is the better because a lot of sororities thrive around the scholarship so if you’re not you know being a black educated is really black but if you’re not being a woman who is showing that they have scholarship then you’re not leading in that sorority
And a lot of organizations GPA a minimum is a 2.5 but dear research on that particular chapters are that particular organizations of minimum GPA because I know some chapters have requirement of 2.75 so make sure whatever organization that you’re interested in you know the minimum GPA
Because if you do not have that middle GPA you’re automatically disqualified as a candidate for that organization so number 15 the big one 5 if you know 15 coming in at 15 honestly it is an unforgettable experience whatever sorority you join the experience that you have the bond that you have with
Your sisters especially your live sisters it’s unforgettable that cut time in college I mean I enjoyed my college experience previous to me actually joining my sorority I don’t forget about alpha some already incorporated but after I cross I mean college just became more of you know it just became more
Let’s just keep it at that so make sure that if you are offered the opportunity to join you know sorority of your choosing that you just live it and milk it and just limit to the fullest because honestly that time in your life is honestly an unforgettable experience and
It’s the time that you look back on and smile because yes I’m already missing college already you can I tell but I really was just celebrating my Founders Day well our Founders Day with my sisters and I went up there two minutes back to my campus
Primarily cooks off state and I had no party we’re on sisters wait dinner it was just really really fun sighs honestly and I forget it was very unforgettable bond that you would never lose cuz once you’re join your different life you know that’s the start of that
Bond or life so make sure that if you’re lucky enough to join you milk it and you just enjoy and bask in that time in that moment of your life so you guys basically this is in this video if you like this video you want to see more
