– [Andrei] Today, we’re here having a fraternal retreat. We started off our day today with a council meeting. This evening we’re gonna have our rosary. It’s a little bit of prayer and a little bit of bonding, getting to know the brother Knights of the council.
– [Arvind] When Andrei first became the grand Knight, he was 23 years old. He wanted to start a council, where it was more focused on young adults and for young adults to actually be more involved, in the Knights. Iron sharpens iron and that’s exactly, what this council is all about.
Helping each other be the best version of ourselves. – [Tharaka] I don’t want to just be a Knight for a namesake. I want to actually be a Knight and leave behind some sort of legacy. Joining at a younger age, helps men to have a more formative life. It’s really been a welcome opportunity,
To be able to give back and just showing that we’re here. – [Nigel] So today we’re here, doing our Mayday care package. In and around the area. Sadly, there’s a lot of homelessness, people with addictions of various kind. And so we’re just giving them a little bit of hope, make them feel good about themselves. Make them realize that we see you, we hear you
And we care about you. We’re from the Knights. We’re here to give you something. – [Male Speaker] The Knights of who? – Knights of Columbus. – [Male Speaker] Oh, the Knight of Columbus. – Yes, yes, exactly. So we’re here to give you something to keep you warm. Thank you. What’s your name?
– Chuck. – [Nigel] Chuck, I’m Nigel. – Oh, hi, thank you. – [Nigel] Pleasure to meet you. – [Male Speaker] Oh, these things are great, man. – [Nigel] Yeah. – [Male Speaker] Thank you very much. – [Nigel] Anything and everything that we do, we do it with the goodness of our heart.
What I hope it means to these folks, is a sense of stability. The whole point of us doing this program, is to make ourselves well known, to this community, but more importantly, to let them know that they’re not alone and that we’re here for them. Having that faith by doing these programs, gives us a closeness and brings us closer to God. But more importantly brings us closer, to our brothers as well.
