Has to grow the chapter now I’ve never been a solo member I’ve always had my sorority sister there and I haven’t been there by myself however my neophyte has been a solo member on the yard and she could probably attest to this situation but just knowing what she went through I
Feel like I could speak on this and I can also talk about what it’s like to have a small chapter so let’s address the first question how to grow a chapter when you have a small chapter so my background is in public relations in marketing so just from my marketing
Experience and from being small number on the yard or just me and my sorority sister at the time we would always mass advertise back in the day it was a little easier to reach out to people because we didn’t have the social media outlets that we have now we didn’t have
Instagram like that we mostly had Twitter and Facebook and I think that was it yeah so we’ve also used Twitter and Facebook so through Facebook we would always post our events they were allowed to be posted with always post our events we would also do paper now I
Know that the concept of having paper documents is like a foreign thing since we’re all digital now however back in the day all we had was paper so we would have to print things off and it was actually a good idea because what we would do was we would print our flyers
And then we had mailboxes our University so you can print the flyer and then zoom into mailboxes at your University and then everybody would get you it’s a girl a guy a guy that knows a girl that’s interested in joining a sorority that information would easily be disseminated nowadays we have digital
Outlets so it’s good to post your Flyers on every social media outlet possible snapchat Instagram it’s the story Twitter Facebook all these things are available now so I would say to mess advertise as much as possible advertise all your events all your community service events all of your if you’re if
You’re interested all of your intake events some people don’t necessarily do that which is fine but anything that you think is going to grab attention I would recommend putting it out there for everyone to see now if you want it to be out there for just a window of time
Definitely do that there plenty of outlets out there where you can put a time stamp on how long you want the information to be disseminated and then it’ll be gone forever snapchat being one of them but it would also say if it’s you and another person
Or you or two other people in your chapter to go to everyone else’s events where are your letters where it’s something related to your organization or where your colors and go that event what we used to do back in the day cuz it was only a handful of us and we were
So small but we made sure that we had 100% involvement and other people’s things definitely show up to other people’s events you want to support other people and by you supporting other people anyone who’s interested in your organization’s they’ll see oh those SG rows really know how to show up at other
People’s events and they’re they’re really friendly they’re they know how to fellowship with other people so definitely put yourself out there more out 100% and recommend that as far as being the only person on your yard and recruiting people I think the best thing to do is pretty much
Same thing try to go to as many events as possible in your letters if you can trying to talk to as many people as you can get involved on campus get involved and other people’s events partner with other organizations so even if you’re the only one who still represent your
Organization that you’re part of so other people will see that try to make yourself as visible as possible visibility is key if you’re visible and people see you and you’re always there people are going to notice so don’t let that be something to stop you I know everyone doesn’t have time to be
Everywhere at once like I for one would love to have a doppelganger but it’s not feasible if you’re a single person on the yard trying to get help from other people try to get help from your chapter members that are not your chapter members from your sorors around you to
Help you events I know back in the day I keep saying back in the day like it was so long ago but it really was y’all like once you get past your three-year mark and you have other people come in after you you feel old
I feel very old right now but when I was an undergrad we used to what we actually didn’t have to do this very often I think my girls were so do it now because it’s just it’s more fun to include other chapters like to include your stands so
I would also recommend pulling from other chapters that are part of your sorority said you live nearby other colleges try to ask them to help you with a yard short of them help you at homecoming or have them help you with community service you also want to
Invite other people to help you so that you don’t feel like you’re the only person there doing all the work and it can be a lot for one person to take on so I would definitely recommend asking for help if you need it you guys have any other suggestions for someone who
