So today we are gonna be talking about some juicy juicy things a lot of you are either in the process of about to join a Greek organization or like you know basically let them know and you guys want to be prepared um a lot of you are asking about your interest letters some
Of you have even sent me your interest letters yeah yeah so I don’t have my interest letter yeah I don’t have it cuz I don’t I don’t know where I don’t I mean I think I have it might be in the Google sea no I’m not gonna read my
Interest letter even if I do have it I’m not I think I do have because it’s my Google Drive but I wanted to talk about it basically and your interest letter you are hyping yourself up and telling the people at the same time who’s reading your letter why you want to be a
Part of that organization as far as interest letters goes it should be no longer than one page unless they have a requirement that you should be that should be longer you want to make sure that the format is indented when you start a new paragraph that your
Paragraphs are not too long that they’re like about this thick for me I did like paragraphs that were that were this thick and I had three of them I listed all the things that I was involved in other things that I’ve done why I wanted to be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority Incorporated and I also listed my name my email my phone number all that stuff it’s kind of like a cover letter essentially it is a cover letter you just don’t put your address because they don’t need your address but you can definitely put your name email and phone
Number so they can so that they can contact you because when you turn it in they need to have a reference of what phone number to call you from when you get the call and I will definitely be doing a video on the call and my experience of the call but yeah so
That’s basically all the interest letter goes you guys can definitely send me your interest letters to read them I don’t want you guys to get nervous about it don’t overthink it if you don’t want to send it to me definitely find somebody that you’re close with to read
It for me I asked one of the girls one of my profiles before she was my profile to read my interest letter I also asked um another pro fight that was actually a mentor at the time to read my next my mentor that was my old Chilean coach who
Was also a Zeta to read mine and then I also read minds out loud to myself but it was so funny because I had to read it in my car because I didn’t feel safe reading it anywhere else cuz the walls of my apartment was so thin that I was
Too scared they’re like people were just gonna be like you know so I had read it in my car out loud I like read it line by line because sometimes you know you put two ands or you like forget commas or you you say something that just
Sounds so stupid but when you type in it and sound like yeah I’m in a zone or whatever um but I definitely had to read it to myself multiple times but I only had three people to look over them I look over my interest letter um what else what else
What else what else what else um yeah don’t make it too – like needy me I was I’m a very confident person so I was like this is why you need me and your organization this is what I will bring to your organization I was like that I
Was like you need me more than I need you because at the end of day I knew that because I had any today I knew what I could bring to an organization I knew how valuable and such an asset that I was to anybody any job in any
Organization anything I knew at the end of day that like I don’t know I’m really good at interviews and I felt like my interest letter was more of like writing so it was like a letter of me writing about myself which can get boring cuz people don’t like to read but I knew
That that was just a taste of what I was going to give them when I had my interview so yeah so along with that going into the next topic I’m just gonna make it into two because I don’t want to combine two videos because this video is
Basically over if we only talk about interest letters talking about the interview and well let’s do in interest letters and recommendations so your recommendations need to be print like physically signed by the person who is writing you that recommendation letter story time quick sidenote story time one of my interests one of my
Recommendations was not signed I don’t know why I didn’t think to have her sign it but she didn’t sign it and when I got to the interview because I got to the interview and I didn’t have and something told me y’all now look this isn’t business crazy something told me
To look over my papers and you know make sure and literally I didn’t I didn’t and I at that moment I could have just signed it myself I wouldn’t a did it I was too scared to but at that moment I was just like I’m not gonna check off my
Papers everything is pristine everything is good I got in the interview room and the lady in the automatically first thing which I hate that they like they so dramatic it comes of stuff that really like it kind of [ __ ] up my interview because she was like you know one of y’all that
Is not signed and you need yo lettuce to be signed if you want to join this organization mad at myself I was just like you could have waited I thought you could have waited until I had my interview but I was like nope you gotta get together snatch it up get it together
Um and it was so funny because one of the girls she didn’t like me and she had asked me a question she was like what can you bring to my organization and I was just like I can bring leadership and I can bring and then she cut me off and
She was just like well we already have enough leaders what else can you bring and I was like wow I was gonna get to that but I don’t feel like you can never have too many leaders [ __ ] don’t [ __ ] play with me don’t [ __ ] pay no [ __ ] man
I was like what the [ __ ] do you mean we already have leaders so what what you want you want me to be a follower honey I was so goddamn mad I was just like girl bye girl bye and that was the main one that was trying to not have me pledged like she
Was just saying I don’t like you I don’t think you should be a part of my organization your and she literally told me she’s like your interview was trashed and it was like all a mental thing um ultimately I do feel like she meant it because she like she did not like me
Like whatsoever she didn’t like me and she felt like what she said to me as to why she doesn’t like me because she told me that she was just like you know before I can’t before I became an a K we were we were friends you were talking to
Me but then after I became an egghead you didn’t even want to talk to me and October showed up I was just like we were never friends like I spoke to you I said hello hi but we were never friends and she was like wow so we were never
Friends oh honey we were never friends like and I think my whole goal was not to try to be friends with everybody and try to like fit in with everybody that if I find found that one person that I could create a bond with this you know
Like wow she is a decent person and that was one of my profiles I had create a bond with her and I became cool with other people but when I say that one girl y’all she did not give me and it was just so funny because
I was just like wow you are really pressed you her deep breath honey and I’m very I apologize that you feel that way and like looking back on it I think like I think what really bothered her was that the fact that I was so unbothered and I always had something
Quick to say when she tried to like come for me which I’ll be telling you on my comeback da1 like South hmm but yeah so that was that um as far as recommendation letters y’all don’t be like me thank God that my adviser was nice enough to like have me submit the
The letter again or whatever which I don’t know if they can do that but thank God that she did because if I would have like not been able to do it just because I don’t have a [ __ ] wet signature on my goddamn letter that would piss me off
And you should have y’all Judas on me how frantic I was calling my mentor cuz it was my mentor that was a Zeta I was like please I was I could you please I be this like that um I was going back and forth with my oneness assigning
Myself and wondering if I wanted to have my friend sign it luckily I didn’t do that because I feel like that would it has got me more like in trouble or you know like looked at funny um but that definitely did cross my mind I’m being a
Hundred percent I’m gonna be a stomach be a stack with you I literally was like and they gonna be like how you get the signature I asked my classmate this white girl that was next to me I loved her to death I was like Sierra please I
Was like could you sign this for me she signed it and then I was like I feel bad and I didn’t submit that one so my my coach I finally got back to me she’s like just I was signing I’ll fax it to you I’ll email it to you right now and
She ended up doing it and when I say I jet it over to that lady’s house and gave her that letter I was like here you go thank you so much for allowing me to do this um but it was funny it was funny like
She like I was like I was I was frantic but I think it was more so I think what was more so rewarding for me after the whole interview process was a simple fact that like like I was it was it was like you know how people
Be rooting for you to do stuff people not people but certain certain people was really rooting for me to like not continue to go through with it because they didn’t like me and I I’m just like really happy that they couldn’t faze me I think that was that as far as other
Things that you need to bring to your interview make sure you have your official transcript that needs to be sealed sealed it needs to be sealed and stamped by your university um luckily your girl had good grades and then you also needed proof of being a student a
Letter saying that oh I am an actual student um and then also you need to have what else communities I mean I we didn’t have to have it yes we did we had to had a letter that we completed community service that’s what yeah but
Other than that that was it a lot of you is just like when do you pay when do you pay they I think what really is good about organizations are that they don’t have you pay right away just because some people do drop one of actually some
People that is a person are now actually driving I’m so glad that she dropped before she paid because if she would have dropped I don’t technically know how that works but if you would have dropped after you paid I don’t know if you would have got your money back no no
You probably would have I never dropped but I don’t know but yeah so that’s everything that you need to bring to breathe to bring to the interview so you can so you can be interview ready um yeah okay guys so yes so that’s everything that you need to bring to
