My name is David Williams this is going to be a Q&A session we’re gonna have with us helene prevail and we’re going to be discussing fraternities and sororities and we have a a what’s called a resident expert in that I’m gonna be talking about somebody who isn’t going to speak
About this from a merely I should say a merely philosophical or distant perspective but someone who’s actually been where where we’re trying to explore so thank you for being on with us today and before we start we’re just going about heads are gonna pray and ask God
To to sanctify the interview to me because we know we do all things in prayer father we thank you for your mercy I mean thank you for your loving kindness oh god this this interview is not about us Lord Jesus is not about any manner of display or performance in any regard we
Pray that by your Holy Spirit that you would guide guide this time guide this session Lord Jesus I pray that he would quicken hélène Lord God that as she’s speaking father that those that are watching this that are stuck and bound by the the system Lord Jesus that that
The enemy has has established in our country and even abroad across the globe father that you were anointed with the grace to break those bonds and to break those chains so that people won’t be free that the understanding might be clear and that the decisions that they
Make might not be of their own selves but that it would be a view in Jesus name I already said your name but so what what sorority did you did you join did you pledge I was a member a founder on my actual campus at Florida International University of Sigma Gamma
Rho sorting now what do you mean say founder you mean like you found the whole sorority or do you see one oh the the organization was founded in 1922 by seven supposedly schoolteachers but each camp is the first group that comes on the college campus they are known as the
Founder they’re the ones that established a chapter on the canvas and anyone after them has to learn in their history because they were the ones that set the legacy on the campus Wow so you have you have like college students that are in the present chapter that are
Learning your history because okay okay so after having pledged after having having gone through an actual sorority how would you define a sorority well I sat down and thought of that question if I was asked how would I define a sorority and I wrote down
Something that I came up with and to me a sorority or fraternity is an organized group structured through pagan belief and rituals focused on the sole purpose of preparing young individuals to continue the legacy of secret societies through brainwashing and subliminal mind controlling it’s a pretty tough
Definition do you the view that from was that your personal experience I mean the view that view that from a personal perspective is that’s something that you then as a as a scholar as an educated person you came to you know how did you come to that conclusion in the
Definition I came to that conclusion because of my background being that I pledged the sorority I went through the pledge process I went through the process of pledging others went through the process of going to our national kool-aid conferences and meeting our grad chapters versus the undergrad and and all the different
Things that I’ve seen and now becoming a Christian you know and some of my Christian studies of what pagan rituals are and also I grew up in the background where I was Haitian so I did watch a lot of rituals being done and my previous you know growing up with my parents so
Seeing some of the same rituals that my parents before him when they were not Christians and they were into you know originally called food one thing that in my sorority you know really perplex me because it was the same so you saw some of the same things in the sorority the
Rituals as you did growing up yes okay we’ll be discussing some of the details of your involvement obviously are there any restrictions that Sigma Gamma Rho places on the initiative when the initiative has pledged do they what’s the standard is there a standard as far as the information goes well the
Information is supposed to be secret only known to members and even when you’re pledging they make you recite rituals over and over again basically pledging your oath that you won’t release any of the information to anyone else and if someone is caught wearing a shirt a sigma camera’ll shirt and
They’re not a member they can be sued because they’re an incorporated organization you have to be a member so yes the pledge ease as well as other fraternities sororities all their information is supposed to be supposed to be secret to that individual Wow so how much information do the
Sororities divulge like because I know that there are certain things that they do out in the open I know that they do have certain charitable endeavors they do coming out from what I understood that I explained them like so what aspects of it are secret or what aspects
Of it are you know I don’t know open reveal um well I mean let me say that the aspect that is out in the open is what they’re using as a recruit you know they wanted you to see that it’s all great and it’s all happy and
It’s all positive so of course you’re gonna see on the college campuses the sororities bonding and partying and they come out shows you’ll see the community service I expect because that’s what they’re founded on you know even when you’re pledging before you join they show you how great it is but when you
Become a pledge Ian you see the hazing going on and you see you know behind the scene the chanting the incantations and the different rituals that you have to learn and and even your painting ceremony where they have to pin you and they have to you know take this you have
To raise your hand like you’re pledging allegiance to basically say this is what I swear to do and to uphold when you meet a pinning the pinning ceremony is when you become a soror where they you’ve done the crossing of the sands you you’ve pledged you you’ve crossed
The burning sands that night and now you’re going through this ceremony where you have two old candles it’s like a purity of purification ceremony and then they give you a signal emerald pen you wear all white showing purity they give you a white candle and you recite certain pledges and prayers of course
They always throw in the first Corinthians 13 the love chapter and then they they seal it with some Greek or Egyptian rituals – Egyptian gods but that’s what the pending ceremony is all right use a couple terms that I’m quite unfamiliar with crossing the burning sands explain well this is what happens
You go to initiation a informal you know meaning where they tell you about the sortie that they stand for sisterhood bond education and community service you know and you see how popular they are on the campus and you see these girls just getting along and you know you’re like
Wow I would love a group of friends like that so then you’re like okay I’m interested in pledging so then you you attend the first night the first night is where they basically give you a Blue Book and they give you books of the information that you’re gonna write
And they tell you what this is what you’re going to go through you’re going to go through a pledge process you have to swear within the pledge process that you won’t reveal what happens and that’s when you go through a series most people remember how long that pledge buys if
Some people take it was three months seven hours and 15 days whatever because you have to know it that’s when you’re going through a hazing period you’re going through how they call the rites of passage you got to go through a series of tasks of sometimes verbal and physical abuse where fraternities and
Stories come in with paddles and they spank you and you have to hold bricks in your hand and one of the ones that we I still remember it is when you were late you have to said excuses excuses excuses are the tools of the week and the
Incompetent and those that are those are late shall have no excuses that was a pleasure we had to say every time we were late and we had to be able to say the Greek alphabet I mean we would light a match and before that match went out
We had to be able to say the entire Greek alphabet we had to learn all of the pledge songs we had to learn all of the information about signal again for all the founders all the their names all the other sources attorneys founders so at that process to take up to three
Months to six months and when you finally that process was over with
