Back talk about a holiday from hell all flights at Luton Airport have been suspended until at least this afternoon after a huge fire ripped through a terminal car Park I don’t know about you Richard TY but I am suspecting electric cars I’m going to guess it’s an electric car and I’ve got one I’m almost certain of it awful please let us know if your car was in that car parket Luton this morning is it
Affecting flights that you want to be taking out of here GB viws jbs.com is the email address load more to get through this morning do not go anywhere first with the news here’s sfia good morning it’s 9:30 I’m Sophia wler in the GB Newsroom explosions are continuing in
Gaza this morning as Israel prepares to escalate its response with a ground offensive more than 200 targets have been hit in a neighborhood used by Hamas to launch its attacks Israeli troops killed at least 1,000 Palestinian gunmen who infiltrated from Gaza Rockets were also fired from Southern Lebanon towards
Israel while more shelling was launched from Syrian territory raising fears the fighting could spark a broader International conflict these pictures are coming to us live from Gaza where you can see the scale of the damage following the latest round of air strikes medicine Sans Frontiers describes the situation as catastrophic with overwhelmed hospitals
Struggling to cope amid intense bombardments and dwindling supplies G’s Health Ministry says at least 950 people people have been killed Israel puts its death toll at 1,200 the UK’s defense secretary Grant shaps told GB news this morning that International support for Israel is crucial attack was clearly absolutely
Barbaric uh in nature uh so they have an absolute right to defend themselves uh we have asked them um to ask us when they need uh anything specific um they and those those conversations are ongoing um but uh you know I think that the main thing that they need is
Understanding and support from the rest of the world right now because what happened was unprecedented uh and frankly Pure Evil and all flights at Landon Lu airport are suspended until 3 p.m. and people are being asked not to travel there after large fire in a terminal car
Park videos on social media show flames and smoke tearing through cars parked at the airport terminal last night the fire Services say say that places suffered significant structural collapse and that more than 1,000 Vehicles may have been damaged five people were admitted to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation and
Around 140 flights have been cancelled now you can get more of all those stories by visiting our website at GB newws docomo Andrew and Beth just to be clear it isn’t Andrew Pierce it is Richards I’m sorry Sophie nobody warned you we’ve got an imposter in the house but it is lovely to have you here great to be here fantastic you know we I’m sure we’ll find some reasons to be cheerful today it’s a bleak new
Situation out there of course it is grim it’s absolutely horrific I mean you just can’t imagine unless you think about what would happen if London a thousand londoners were killed in 3 days how would we feel yeah absolutely well this is of course what we’re talking about
Because there is the one place to start this morning that is the shocking news about the massacre of families children babies grandparents in Israel the defense secretary Grant shap spoke to GB news this morning Hass behavior and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered people being
Bodies being beheaded uh that has no place in the 21st century um that is at a different and completely different U moral um scale to uh a country defending itself uh actually typically trying to give notice uh before for example a building is uh hit uh what they call
Knock and drop so there’s actually uh opportunity for people to get out the response Richard that was Grant shaps on GB news this morning has been unequivocal really hasn’t it just absolute condemnation absolute condemnation and frankly anybody who doesn’t condemn it you’ve got to ask serious questions about their own motive
Some of those demonstrating in cities up and down the UK I think have actually horrified most decent sane people it really has it’s it’s just utterly utterly horrific what it is horrific and I I I don’t know about you but I I very much worry about where this goes now I
Were we’re going to have Liam hallan in the studio later actually to talk about the oil price effect because this is where the reverberations will be felt as well here the geopolitical implications are absolutely massive because we’ve now got not one but two possible Regional conflicts and but if if you’re the
Leaders of Israel you are steaming mad you’re absolutely fuming you’re saying and enough is enough this has to stop but they’ve got a serious geopolitical responsibility and they’ll be very aware of that and some big questions I want to ask Simon about is actually how much interaction they have for example with
The US yeah that’s Simon dunu who’s going to be in the studio in just a moment of course it’s been very interest to see the response from America from from Joe Biden but also of course from Donald Trump and here is what the former US president had
Say but the same people that attacked Israel are poor pouring into our once beautiful USA throughout our totally open Southern border they’re coming in at record levels well he his what he’s trying to raise awareness there of course is if you have lots of undocumented people arriving in your country who have
Malicious intent towards the West we might see something there and here that’s right and of course S braan I mean she was criticized heavily in Her speech in Washington saying that actually multiculturalism has failed but she wasn’t the first Tony Blair said it David Cameron said it Dame Lise Casey
Said it she got a lot of criticism but I think that’s what we’re seeing and I think this is the shocking scenes that we we’re seeing on our own streets our own cities and it’s I think it’s really really divisive and people are going to be incredibly careful absolutely that we
We’ve got we’re seeing pictures here from Gaza but actually some of the pictures which I found really shocking of being the pictures in this country the roads were brought to a stand still at the weekend with with Palestinians and we it is important to draw a distinction I think between Hamas
Terrorists and Palestinian people the majority of whom would want to live a peaceful existence absolutely and actually I went uh to the back end of one of those demonstrations on Monday night I just spoke to some people as I say at the end of it and they weren’t actually Palestinians but they were
Arabs and they were sort of setting out their case but I do think that they refused to condemn the actions of Hamas and that I think is just reprehensible and so it’s it’s so shocking for anybody yeah um so moving on of course the other big story this
Week the labor party conference and hit working out actually we’re trying to ascertain what a labor government would look like well sakir starma took to the stage yesterday to pitch for your vote we’re seeing the footage now a protester covered the opposition leader with glitter ahead of his speech um I mean
Just unbelievable starma promised a decade of renewal under labor there labor therefore assuming that he’s going to win two terms said he aims to create a Britain that is built to last that’s right one thing that kiss dama said that caught my attention uh Richard Ty leader
Of the reform UK was this I know some people don’t like the word reform but I tell you now there’s no other option how wonderful of him to endorse your it kind of there I written a part of his speech I mean we’ve had a bit of fun
With that it’s fair to say social media just couldn’t resist it can can I ask you where the word reform came from for your party because it is very clever because there isn’t a politician that doesn’t use the word reform ab and it was Nigel’s idea Nigel far Nigel
Farage’s idea back in 2019 actually it what he always wanted to do he’s very clever in that he worked it out and also but you recently I saw at your conference you’ve actually added the brexit party at the end of it why we have indeed because we wanted to
Highlight the link that actually we used to be the brexit party it’s hard building a brand many people weren’t aware of that and it’s an important linkage it’s part of the debate labor want to take us closer back to the EU and we’re saying actually no the opportunities is there so it’s important
To make that linkage okay fantastic right joining us now in the studio is former labor MP Simon danuk as I mentioned um before we talk about starma speech yesterday Simon um can I just get a reaction from you on what is happening in Israel oh it’s absolutely devastating
And more we learn about what Hamas have done in Israel it becomes more terrifying uh that the murder of babies Festival goes I mean the situation is truly awful and it’s spilling out onto the streets in Britain isn’t it and uh which is horrifying for the Jewish
Community I think we need to see some tough action uh I I will be pleased to see some arrests in the UK in terms of the protests uh that are going on in the UK to to firmly show these protesters these people who are back in hamus that
We’re not going to be we’re not going to put up with here in the UK so you would you you’d actually like people who are protesting even if it is peacefully if they’re waving a flag you want to see them arrested well not not necessarily
But but it’s a lot of it isn’t peaceful we saw the Israeli flag being removed uh from Sheffield Town Hall that was shocking yeah it’s absolutely shocking an attempt to put up the Palestinian flag uh an arrest should clearly be made in relation to that and there are other
Incidents uh that I would suspect uh warrant arrest and prosecution and that’s what we need to see the government the police have to be tough on this it’s an incredibly fine line isn’t it s between the right to free speech in a democracy like ours but actually this is a prescribed terrorist
Organization perhaps the BBC should learn that frankly they seem to uh not be willing to make that point and and that is the balance isn’t it yeah and it comes back to this issue and you touched upon it earlier Richard about multiculturalism Su Suella bravman was absolutely right uh multi
Multiculturalism has failed in this country we’ve imported uh a particular view in ter terms of the Middle East uh We’ve brought that into the country it’s predominantly not not completely but predominantly held in the Muslim Community in this country whether it’s Arabs or in the Pakistani Bangladeshi or
Other communities in this country and it’s coming to the four now so when we see uh issues and problems in the Middle East it flares up as we are seeing now and that’s not acceptable for the Jewish community and I have to say it’s frankly you go to some of these demonstrations
It’s scary it’s terrifying some of the video footage in the center of London and you think what is going on I mean who’s just truly shocking in our country to have that level of fear demonstrating peacefully is one thing yes but actually once you’re letting off fireworks huge
Uh noise and and creating a sense of fear on our streets and bringing that International conflict which is you know very much of that region here Simon yeah what so what I guess what what a lot of people are raising the question and Donald Trump was saying the same thing
Is how do we how does this work what are the risks to British people here now oh real risk because uh and and I reiterate the point we have imported this problem we uh because we’re such uh so strong in supporting uh Free Speech uh we we allow
People to say what they want but people take it too far and that’s what we’re seeing so peaceful protest is acceptable but creating fear as you’ve described is totally unacceptable and more intervention from the police as they do in France will be welcome do you think the police are sufficiently on it in
Terms of the risks to the Jewish Community across the UK but here particularly in London it doesn’t look like they are does it I don’t think they’re making enough interventions I think the police and Sadi Khan who has responsibility for the Met police has to direct them more strongly he should be
Saying I expect arrest to be made and that will put a marker down we have to be tough on this start as we mean to go on sadique KH was very slow off theark to even condemn Hamas I don’t know whether you noticed Mark dreford in
Wales was very slow Off the Mark um uh ham USF as well who actually has family in Palestine he was a little slow Off the Mark to condemn I think that’s not appropriate when when you in positions of power in this country listen I I I I
Was in the labor party nearly 30 years and the reality is that the labor party relies heavily on particular communities for votes this this is the reality of it so they are hesitant some of them in the labor party are hesitant about being too critical or too negative in relation to
Palestine and that’s where this hesitancy comes from it’s all about votes reality of it and talking about fear um the I mean k starma actually at his speech when he was essentially assaulted by a protester a brief flicker of fear on his face but I I thought all
Credit to him he dealt with it incredibly well but if I was him I would be steaming raging at their own security procedures yeah the security looks to have been exception poor at this how can he been that close to him for that long and eventually it’s the woman in the
Back who jumps out and and takes him down Simon it’s a it’s a dereliction of the security duty at that conference yeah absolutely poor I mean it’s ironic isn’t it that it that I think it’s done him some good I think he’s recovered from it it helped him to make the point
About uh we’re a party of uh Power not protest uh so I think he’s recovered from it all the headlines today are about Mr glitter and everything else uh the Shine from starm and brilliantly but I’ve been a lot of these rallies when I was standing alongside Nigel farage and
You know he obviously has to have security at these events but those security Personnel they are looking outwards they’re not looking at the speaker they’re looking outwards at any threats there’s no way that could have happened at any rally that uh the Nigel have been at and it’s just extraordinary
That breach makes the labor party look a bit amateurish in a way yeah you would have thought they’d moved uh closer to being more professional getting on to the speech I thought it was a very professional speech uh very well prepared probably the best conference
Speech uh Kia starm has ever made uh an exceptionally good performance NE you know almost providing a vision in terms of rebuilding uh the country but you would have hoped that the organization of the conference the professionalism uh from the speech would have been uh replicated in organizing confence it
Just shows a kind of new means of protesting now doesn’t it as well which I think is a shame because I don’t want to live in a world where all of our elected officials have to have uh guys with Mike in their is staring around we’re not America we don’t have guns I
Don’t like that but it obviously shows and I was interested I presumed at first he was going to be an Ecco terrorist I thought I thought he’s going to be an e an Eco protester I thought he was going to be just stop oil but obviously had a
Different it was about democracy Simon lovely to see you thank you thank it’s almost that protest gave actually K starm extra confidence through his speech he dealt with it so well well what he then did he took his jacket off and as we know K starm was very happy
When he’s got his jacket off and he’s got his sleeves rolled up and he looked more comfortable then didn’t he despite the slightly distracting glitter in his hair Right Moving on labor has unveiled plans to teach re what they’re calling Real World math skills in Primary School Shadow education secretary Bridget
Phillipson will say in a speech that children’s youngest four should learn financial literacy including budgeting and currency exchange rates our Deputy political editor Tom Howard joins us now from the labor conference in Liverpool uh Tom this just sounds completely Bonkers Richie sunak said he wants teenagers to learn maass and that’s fine
If you want to understand exchange rates as a teenager that makes some sort of sense but a four-year-old does not need to know how to apply for a mortgage Tom what she talking about I think we’re all waiting with baited breath to see the actuality of this speech this morning because
Certainly some of the briefing beforehand might have been a little bit overzealous trying to really push back against the vision of Rishi sunak doing uh maths in later life the labor party wants to present a clear alternative saying actually it’s the early years that counts although using the phrase
Financial literacy might well have been a little bit too far when in fact uh it may well be as simple as you know teaching young children about pocket money and the importance of budgeting in that sense not letting everything uh run away with you but certainly it will be
An interesting point it’s Bridget Phillipson up first this morning and then it’s Wes streeting the shadow Health secretary as well two of the biggest names speaking today but both of them might well feel like it’s a little bit of a struggle after the festivities of last night unlike in the conservative
Parties conference where the leader speeches on the last day the labor party has the leader speech on the penultimate Day meaning that the last night of conference really people do let their hair down a little bit more and I have to say it was interesting looking at
Half the shadow cabinet getting up on stage at the mirror party last night singing karaoke now I believe we’ve got a little bit of a clip to give you in the audience a little bit of a feel of what last night was Like you singing Liverpool Come Well oh well well we’re all a bit speechless here Tom to be completely honest there’s nothing more cringe is there than politicians trying to be cool on a stage how was it how was how do how was the whole week been for you the labor party has been trying to
Not be complacent this week they know they’re 20 points ahead in the polls they know that things are going well for them as things stand but the watch word has been caution cautious speeches cautious announcements trying to not look too triumphalist trying to say that
This is a party that wants to earn votes rather than believes they’ve already got them in the bag but I think when uh perhaps the partying gets a bit hard it’s hard to sort of keep back the general sense of positivity there is at this party conference this is a party
That believes they are heading into government and perhaps they were celebrating a little bit early last night okay thank you Tom thank you very much bring us all the latest you wouldn’t get me dancing that is for sure not on one of those can you just notely you’re ever ever prime minister Richard
Oh no I’ll be there in the background going get off that stage right so anyway in the UK there approximately 14.4 million people are living in Po in poverty so volunteers slept rough last night to raise money for the homeless they hope to sponsor a trip to the world
Economic Forum next year to raise awareness for the millions of homeless people in need and joining us now in studio is Marco Robinson actor producer star of number two on Netflix movie you don’t look much like a movie star this morning I can’t lie harsh that’s very
Brutal but we listen we had you on a few weeks ago in the talk we were talking about the fact that you were going to do this you did try to get me to join you obviously I would have done but I had to be here this morning with Richard how
Was it it was fabulous yeah I mean obviously I’ve been there on the streets I’ve been homeless I’ve been in situations where I felt hopeless yeah um but the great thing about last night was the people that that I was with were campaigning with me some of them hadn’t
Been in that situation so for them it was a first experience yeah and you know we’re not saying that one night of being homeless in any right makes you understand it but it certainly gives you an Insight yeah um and the great thing about last night was we met a lot of
Homeless people and we heard the stories so what just remind us briefly in a nutshell what your story was how you ended up homeless but tell us a little bit about the people you met last night as well so I was homeless at 2 with my
Mom my mom my dad was a gambling addict so she left him she was 23 hours 2 she moved to the north of England it was cold it was January to live with a mom and a stepdad but she didn’t want to go there that was like a last resort and on
That doorstep her stepdad said to her mom it’s either me or them and her mom said you can’t stay here right now what what I didn’t know is my mom was sexually abused since she was four years old by her stepdad and when he was when
Sorry when she was 12 he put his hand on a breast and said I didn’t marry your mom for your Mom married your mom to get to you it’s pretty horrifying and is that is that a sort of typical tragic story that you hear when you talk to
People last night it is and and Marco we dealt better with homeless people during the coid crisis why is it slit back I mean I’m seeing far too many all over Central London Oxford Street down in Victoria why is it have we allowed it to slip back well Co was the
Answer to every homeless person’s dream a five-star hotel all meal paid right to clean up the streets so to speak but now everyone’s back on the street because no government in the world has any system geared to help people in situations where for example they lose the job they
Can’t pay the rent or the mortgage the mortgage rate has gone through the roof as you know right now and the cost of living absolutely yeah so but some people would say we have a very a very generous benefits system in this in this country and it is there the safety net
Is there for people if they want to reach out and get it why is that not working it’s not working because there is a shortage of Housing and there’s a shortage of affordable housing for people to get on the first rung of the ladder but there’s also a shortage of
Housing for social housing yeah you know I I made a t TV show on Channel 4 a few years ago to address that oh well you gave away a house that’s right yeah just remind people because they might be going ah if he took his pink hat off I’d
Remember it was him CU he remind us what you did yeah so in 2017 I was asked by Channel 4 to give a house away in my own TV show to kind of make a statement to address the appalling social housing issue and there was 25,000 people
Applied and it was amazing journey for me cuz obviously I I was seeing people that were homeless that used to be me and my mom right um and at that point you were a very successful man yeah yeah and um I I end up giving a house away
And helping two other the families you did um how can people help we’ve got a move on you going to Davos ideally and you want people to Don well these are great hats that you can wear on GB news fantastic there’s a pink one there’s an
Orange one there’s a black one black or pink doesn’t it look great so that’s great now these hats cost £30 right a hat3 a hat they’re amazing I’ll buy one off your you should buy one yes I’m in right brilliant thank you so go to Twitter great sleepout and thank you for
Raising awareness right a lot more to come here on G news this morning he doesn’t want to mess you I don’t mind this is Britain’s News Room on TB news the people’s Channel hello a very good morning morning to you it’s Aiden MCG here from the Met Office with the GB

We need to do it much earlier because the problems start earlier which is why today I’m talking about Labor’s plans to make sure that our youngest children and right throughout Primary School get a really firm foundation in maths that they really enjoy it and that we support teachers in how they’re teaching math
Education and embedding some of those real world examples into the teaching of math to to bring it to life for children and young people it’s labor who’s the party of high and Rising standards this is GB news across the UK on TV in your car and on Digital radio
And on your smart speaker by saying play GB news now it’s back to Richard and Bev thank you for joining us at 10:07 so on day five of Israel’s war on Hamas shock details are emerging of a a massacre during which the terror groups uh assaulted Israeli communi as a warning these images are disturbing the military told reporters that entire families were found dead in their homes
Including unbelievably babies that’s right Israel’s bombing campaign on Gaza continues this morning and Hamas have also fired Rockets into Israel casualty numbers are mounting frankly by the hour on both sides as Israel put their death death total at the moment at around 1,00 and the Gaza Health Ministry reporting
At least 900 people have been killed in air strikes right we’re join our by’s reporter uh Charlie Peters who is in Tel Aviv uh good morning Charlie just just let us know really what the situation is like there on the ground in Tel Aviv well there is an atmosphere of
Terror here the civilians local to Tel Aviv are Disturbed as you can imagine by the the general uh sense of unease over the last 5 days since the terrorists invaded the country in the South early on Saturday morning but many of the people in Tel Aviv are not local they’ve
Been sent here after extracting from Southern Israel where they have endured some of the atrocities that you have just mentioned attention now turns to what Israel will do next as they move to the next phase of this war as you can see obviously they are conducting those
Air strikes in Gaza very heavily dozens of aircraft rotating in and out of the area almost constantly we can hear fighter jets flying over us even just before we came on air several Jets were flying over headed south towards Gaza this is clearly the sustaining and the shaping phase of a potential ground
Invasion can they prepare the ground to launch the first invasion of the Gaza Strip since 2014 it’s a big question and IDF commanders I spoke to last night said they just not sure if they can do it now they might need a couple more days clearly since Saturday there has
Been a ginormous security challenge an intelligence challenge in particular with many terrorists crossing the border unexpected using new technology new training new tactics and new procedures they will now have to assess if Hamas terrorists have the capability to resist the might of the Israeli military but around the world Israeli soldiers are
Returning to Israel to support that effort they have activated 360,000 reservists but even though the world’s are of Israeli forces are returning they still have to contend with the new threat of a new front the Lebanese threat now fire has come across from Southern Lebanon into Northern Israel in
The last few hours and there has also been shelling across from Syria react to these threats they’ll have to see if they can contend with two fronts and a potential Invasion and so Charlie who who actually makes the decisions now because these are massive decisions is it the the political leadership under
Netan who and what role do the the leaders of the IDF play and how many people get involved this this talk of a sort of almost like a coalition of unity but actually is that a pipe dream who’s who’s really in charge in making the decision as to how they
Respond well the government of the day I mean uh Netanyahu is under significant criticism after the security challenge faced on Saturday but IDF commanders and uh and other intelligence and Security Professionals clearly feeding into what is being described now as a Unity government only a week ago there were
Serious protests against this government in this city against their proposed plans with the Judiciary and we’ve also heard reports earlier in the year of some soldiers going on strike all talk of that has been cancelled this is a united front against the situation in Gaza against the incursions into
Southern Israel and as I said support from IDF commanders very clearly about how they can sustain this potential decisive action with a ground Invasion into the Gaza Strip and Charlie how much role will the US have in that decision will they listen to the US I mean they’ve got a serious geopolitical
Responsibility as well as also looking to protect their own citizens well there’s no doubt that the US is already providing intelligence support to Israel as it always does but it’s going further now since the unprecedented terrorist attacks starting on early Saturday morning last night the first Munitions from the US arrived at a
Southern Israeli Air Base these are Advanced Munitions and the Israelis accepted them very gladly saying that they would use them in the next phase of their plan and that their mission could now be carried out but at the same time the US is sharpening the Israeli spear they’re also trying to extend a
Humanitarian hand this morning the US National Security adviser said that they were looking to secure a new humanitarian bridge between Gaza and Egypt thank you Charlie Charlie Peters there in Tel Aviv in Israel and we’re joined now by the editor of the Jewish Chronicle Jake Wallace Simons um good
Morning Jake thank you very much for joining us uh first of all our sympathies our condolences for what is a horrific time uh for your community just first of all before we talk about the situation here in the UK which I really do want to have your take on um just
Reflect on the absolute barbarity of what unfolded over the weekend masquerading just murderous intent masquerading as politics well I think the masquerading as politics part comes from the utal idiots in the west who just refuse to see Hamas for what it is uh which is a terror group from the same ideological
Origins historically as the Islamic State and carrying out the same types of methods on the same types of victims um you know yesterday was a particularly Grim Day with you know babies found beheaded children found beheaded uh men women and children the elderly corpses mounting up even the death toll hasn’t
Been correctly assessed yet because new bodies are being being found all the time uh the atrocities are similar in approach in nature and in ideology to that perpetrated by ISIS and indeed by Al-Qaeda all three have roots in the Muslim Brotherhood yeah which is influenced heavily by Nazi propaganda in
The Middle East during the second World War now this really I think is no exaggeration to say that it’s uh the worst Jihadi atrocity in history certainly against any western style democracy it needs to be recognized as such there’s been some comparisons with 911 but this is bigger than 911
Proportionately the number of Israelis killed in that very small population is equivalent to about 7,500 deaths in Britain and that’s the point isn’t it actually Jake when you compare it to London which is about the same size in population to the whole of Israel if a thousand londoners were
Killed and slaughtered on our streets in the space of 3 days I mean we would be utterly utterly outraged as well as being very very fearful and demanding serious Revenge serious retribution what is the greater emotion at the moment uh in Israel Jake is it fear is it revenge
Or a huge combination of the two well there are extraordinary pictures coming out of Israel last night of people in their apartment blocks singing uh cheering flashing their lights on and off reminiscent a little bit of what happened during coid when people expressed solidarity in that public way so they’re trying to raise
The morale across the country the thing is you know the Jews are an ancient people and this is not new for us these massacres these atrocities uh evoke memories of the pogroms of Eastern Europe and Russia devoke memories of course of Nazi Germany and the einat group and who went from Village to
Village shooting people and even further back into medieval times as well so we have long memories of this kind of treatment and the Advent of Israel changed the attitude of Jews but no longer are we going to see ourselves as the victims or go like Lambs to the
Slaughter but we’re going to uh stand up and fight back and so I think that Israelis know that Spirit more than anybody else and they are marshalling that today uh at the moment so amid all the fear and the horror and the grief and the shock uh and the trauma of
Course uh what’s coming out is this National solidarity that just wants to be allowed to live to defend their Homeland and to live as a free people in their land in the words of isra national just let me ask you because I think some of the pictures I found the most
Shocking have been the protests the celebrations and I am going to use that word in Sydney in New York in London actually the Palestinian flag being raised by Young women celebrating what is by any definition the murder and Military rape of other women I find that utterly mindblowing just reflect on what
It’s like to be Jewish in this country at the moment I mean this is this is finally people are seeing what Israel has been contending with all these years Israel is on the front line of this battle which is derided as a culture War but is important you know people who celebrate
The murder of more than a thousand men women and children on the Streets of London are part of the problem not just for Israel but for Western values and Western Civilization uh across across the uh across the west and they are seeking to undermine the things that we all hold
Dear Israel is the only democracy in the region it upholds the rights of women and minorities uh in a way that no other country does in the Middle East those are values that we share and an attack on those values in Britain is an attack
On us all and no one feels that more keenly than the British Jewish Community who at the moment are enduring extra security measures around schools and synagogues and so forth and you read an important article yesterday in The Spectator Jake about the United Nations was sort of Riven with Israel aphobia
Just touch on that because it was I think a really significant article you wrote well Israel aphobia is uh is the title of my book which came out a few weeks ago the subtitle of it is the newest form of the oldest hatred and what to do about it and that is clearly
Seen at the United Nations statistically Israel has been condemned last year by the UN General Assembly 15 times for its supposed indiscretions by comparison every other country in the world cumulatively have been condemned 13 times from from Russia to Iran to Venezuela to North Korea to China and so
Forth there is a very clear bias against the Jewish state by which principles of international law and frat International fraternity are being weaponized to destroy Israel’s and undermine Israel’s right to defend itself calling a separation barrier which has protects Israel from suicide bombs calling that an apartheid War calling the sealed Gaza
Border which protect has protected Israel up up until the other day from Jihadi violence calling that at an open air prison this sort of social justice language uh is is Rife throughout the UN where in the UN United Nations Human Rights Council just on Monday they
Refused even to say the word Israel but instead stood for a minute Silence with the supposed Palestinian victims that was before the war had really come to Gaza this is outrageous bias at the UN it filters out through many of our International and National institutions through uh it sort of piggybacks on the
Suite of luxury beliefs that’s dominating the elites of our culture in the west including gender ideology perspectives on slavery sex um colonialism and our history and added to that is a very very biased and Paran view on is in palese I’m sorry to interrupt you but I do want to hear your
Thoughts on this is this the end do you think of a potential two-state solution briefly that’s a that’s a big big question I think the two-state solution has has been uh floundering really for quite some years ever since it collapsed into an inada in the 9s um it’s very
Difficult to keep an an eye on the big political picture now when things are so fast moving and when there are existential threats to Israel um not least from Iran which is pulling many of the strings uh in these atro atrocious events I mean look you know I think I
Stand with all the Jewish community in Britain and around the world in saying that we respect and wish to protect the lives of Palestinian civilians as well as Israeli civilians we want peace for both sides peace in the region when you are contending with the Jihadi Butchery
That we’ve seen it’s very difficult to know how a partner for peace is possible Jake thank you Jake our thoughts are with you Jake Wallace Simons there from the Jewish Chron Chronicle right still come we’re going to be hearing from the chair of the Jewish labor movement at

Hour get revved up with me Patrick Christies on GB news and GB news radio hello you are with Britain’s Newsroom here on GB news with myself Richard Ty and Bev Turner so sakir starma took the stage yesterday to pitch for power during the Labour Party Conference uh but of course it was
Disrupted at the beginning by a protester covering the oppos leader with glitter uh ahead of his speech he held on to him for a very long time in my opinion before Security in fact the woman in the background she’s probably just a steward she doesn’t even look like security got involved unbelievable
So starma promised us all a decade of renewal under labor and said that he aims to create a Britain that’s built to last so joining us now is a local counselor but also former chair of the Jewish labor movement Jeremy Newark Jeremy uh really good to see you this
Morning thank you for joining us we want to talk to you about the situation in the Middle East at the moment we’ve just seen that footage of Kier starma how how do you think he did yesterday under that pressure of that protester I think his response was
Absolutely the right response to use the protester to highlight the way in which this party has changed under his leadership from a party of protest to the party that will form the next government of this country just explain to us what you mean by that so people
Who didn’t see the whole speech he he he did use it as you you say to his Advantage explain what he did he did well you know he reacted instinctively completely in character for Kia and absolutely took this in his stride and turned around to the audience
And and he said that is the sort of action that is a sort of idiocy that he under his leadership has moved this party away from away from being a party of protest towards being a party fit for power bizarrely actually it almost gave him extra confid confidence it seemed to
Me in the way that he dealt with it he just sort of rolled his sleeves up and just pushed on through and shot off adrenaline I think you’re absolutely right fantastic so um but he talked about being you know build rebuilding Britain all of these new new towns that
He wants to build but in reality 1 and a half million homes in 5 years we haven’t built 300,000 homes a year for at least 50 years do you think that’s seriously credible or or is it just a just a good slogan for a conference speech well I I do think it’s credible
And I think it’s clear from the you know emerging policies that have been coming forward at this conference that labor does and will have a plan to do that I know as leader of a Bar Council just on the outskirts of London that the most significant problem facing our residents
Today is that of housing particularly the lack of decent affordable housing enabling families to live in the same area enabling par children to be able and grandchildren to afford to live within the vicinity of of their own families and this is the issue of the day and I believe that under Kia’s
Leadership labor does have a plan and solution to be able to deal with that Jeremy I know it’s difficult with these sorts of speeches because often leaders of parties don’t want to upset anybody so they try to play with a rather safe bat but it was a little bit word salady
Wasn’t it things like get your future back what does that even mean well you know the nature of Party Conference speeches is that people forget that first and foremost as well as being a speech to the nation they are a speech to the party faithful to the delegates in the conference Hall they
Have a role to inspire people come to hear these speeches for their annual shot in the arm to go back to their constituencies to pound the doorsteps they’re looking for their injection of inspiration to keep them going for the year ahead and that’s what I think Kia
Set out achieve first and foremost and I think you know in contrast to his immediate predecessor um you know he did that very effectively the atmosphere in the hall was electric this was a speech that provided the inspiration that delegates were looking for Jim let’s
Let’s pick up on that point about it is the difference between him and his predecessor the horrors we’re seeing in Israel huge huge questions now about how Israel responds and they’ve got a massive uh responsibility obviously to their own citizens but also geopolitical responsibility because I mean heaven
Forbid this could head towards a second regional conflict after Ukraine well look I think first and foremost the thing that struck me about the response not just of Kama but the entire labor front bench and delegates at the conference over the past 48 hours in reacting to these monstrous
Atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists in Israel is that the response hasn’t differed significantly from the responses of Britain’s other mainstream political parties because at the end of the day this is about Humanity humanitarianism humanitarianism the rights of Israelis to live in peace the rights of Jews in diaspora communities
Like our own to live in security without fear of uh reprisal and copycat type attacks and what we’re seeing in the current labor party party leadership is a mainstream responsible attitude no describing Hamas as our friends or welcome guests as we’ve seen in the past but an atmosphere in which together with
The other mainstream political leadership of this country labor standing side by side in solidarity with Israel in solidarity with the British Jewish Community that’s where the country is that’s where the political mainstream is J can I just pick up on that point about the uh the British Jewish Community are the police
Particularly in London doing enough to give conf confidence uh to prevent that fear amongst Jews particularly here in London well I lead a council as I say just on the edge of London that’s home to one of the UK’s largest Jewish communities and I have to say the
Response of our local police has been fantastic I’ve been in constant dialogue with our local Chief Inspector who’s put extra resources on the table to Pro Patrol Jewish buildings Jewish in instiutions particularly during the Jewish religious Festival weekend over which these terrible events occurred so yes I think the police do recognize the
Severity of the situation as we heard last night from from our shadow Home Secretary IET Cooper this is not something that is going to be solved overnight this is a problem that we are going to be contending with both in the Middle East and here in the UK and in
Other countries with Jewish communities we’ve seen anti-semitic incidents triple over recent days in my own constituency we have stories of uh Jewish families afraid to send their children to local Jewish schools Jewish schools advising people not to attend in their school uniforms as it’s too identifiable so I
Think the initial response from the police has been fantastic and I hope and pray that they’ll be able to sustain this level of additional response and additional resource in the weeks to come all right thank you Jeremy thank you so much for joining us this morning former
Chair of the Jewish labor movement there Jeremy new mark on the final day of the labor Party Conference it’s still to come um the massacre of children we’ve just been heing Hamas has killed women babies and children in the one of the last villages to be recaptured from the
Terrorist group according to the Israeli military we will bring you the very latest it’s reported the victims had their hands bound and some bodies have been brutally burned the defense secretary Grant shaps has been speaking to GB news this morning Hass behavior and we talked about these reports coming
Out of babies being ured people being bodies being beheaded uh that has no place in the 21st century and back in the UK passengers experienced a holiday from hell as all flights to locen the airport have been suspended until the afternoon after a huge fire ripped through the terminal
Car park that and much much more after your morning news with safia Wza it’s 10:32 I’m Sophia wler in the GB Newsroom explosions are continuing in Gaza this morning as Israel prepares to escalate its response with a ground offensive more than 200 targets were hit in a neighborhood used by Hamas to launch its attacks Israeli troops killed at least 1,000 Palestinian gunmen who
Infiltrated from Gaza Sirens were heard in the North of Israel this morning warning of a possible incoming aerial threats from Lebanon or Syria raising fears the fighting could spark a broader International conflict these pictures are coming to us live from Gaza where you can see smoke filling the sky medicine Sans Frontiers
Describes the situation there as catastrophic with overwhelmed hospitals struggling to cope amid intense bombardments and dwindling supplies gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 950 people have been killed Israel puts its death toll at 1,200 the UK defense secretary Grant shaps told GB news this morning that international support for Israel is
Crucial attack was clearly absolutely barbaric uh in nature uh so they have an absolute right to defend themselves uh we have asked them um to ask ask when they need uh anything specific um they and those those conversations are ongoing um but uh you know I think that
The main thing that they need is understanding and support from the rest of the world uh right now uh because what happened was unprecedented uh and frankly Pure Evil and all flights at London Lon airport are suspended until 300 p.m. and people are being asked not to travel
There after a large fire in a terminal car park videos on social media show flames and smoke tearing through cars parked at the airport terminal last night the fire service says the place suffered significant structural collapse and that more than 1,000 Vehicles may have been damaged five people were
Admitted to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation and around 140 flights have been cancelled and you can get more on all those stories by visiting our website GB newws Docomo bullion sponsors the finance report on GB news for gold and silver Investment and here’s a quick snapshot of today’s markets the pound will buy you $1.22 eight4 and 1.15 78 the price of gold is £ 1,522 and 68 per ounce and the footy 100’s at 7,641 points direct buling sponsors the finance report on GB news Investments that

The scene in Singing in the Rain Adam is that a good one join me at 7 on GB news Britain’s News Channel you’re with Britain’s Newsroom on GB news with me Richard Ty and Bev Turner so a leak in an undersea gas pipeline connecting Finland to Estonia
Has cause European gas prices to Surge finish authorities are reporting this could well have been sabotage as damage was unlikely to have occurred by accident that’s right so let’s cross over to our economics and business editor Liam halagan in Liverpool this morning good morning Liam we thought
We’d be talking to you about oil and gas prices going up because of events in the Middle East and then this happens just explain what we know what we know Bev is that energy prices have been going up steadily since the summer and not too many of us here
In the Western World want to talk about it because the idea we might be in for another winter of very high energy prices would undermine the whole notion that inflation’s coming down interest rates are soon going to come down and we’re going to hit the economic Sun
Sunlit Uplands but reality I’m afraid is imposing on that scenario the OPEC energy exporters cartel the oil exporters cartel they’ve been squeezing supply for several months now largely due to their concerns about the war in Ukraine they don’t see the war in Ukraine uh the way the West sees it they
See it from Russia’s point of view oil prices have gone up from 7 to around $90 a barrel in the last couple of months as any van driver will tell you Diesel and petrol have gone up a lot in price and now gas prices are starting to go up too
Have a look at some of these numbers just last Friday Bon Richard gas natural gas was 88p per THM and yesterday it was upper at 125p 1 25p that’s a more than 40% increase and as you say that’s because of concerns about sabotage on an important gas interconnector between
Finland and Estonia that’s been failing the in the authorities are investigating that and also violence in the Middle East of course that’s leading to concern about oil supplies more generally a lot of oil obviously comes from the Middle East and if this violence between Israel and Hamas escalates then we could be in
For further energy price Rises absolutely and Liam this sometimes you can get a sort of speculative bubble from the Traders on the back of this if they think it’s a one-way trade upwards I mean 42% in just a couple of days on gas this has serious implications in the
West on inflation and then everything that flows from that I think this is a much much more dangerous moment than anybody is giving it credit for I think so you you know Richard you’re a businessman you and I have been talking literally for months haven’t we privately about our concerns about these
Energy price Rises and now here we are talking about them on national television and a word on gas we don’t just use gas to you know heat up our baked beans on toast gas accounts for 40% of all electricity generation in the UK gas fired power stations are
The real engine room of where we get our electricity from in the UK and when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine it’s always gas fir power stations which then take up the slack in renewable energy so the price of electricity for both households and for
Firms already more expensive in the UK than anywhere else in Europe could go up more this is an awful thing for me to have to say I know this will worry a lot of households a lot of firms who have been looking forward to lower energy
Prices this Autumn but both on the front of gas and oil the combination of what the OPEC energy exporter cartel is doing the concerns that have emerged over the last 48 hours about more sabotage of pipelines uh in the baltics of course the pipeline between Russia and Germany
Was blown up no one’s quite sure who did that plus violence in the Middle East I’m afraid that unless things change it points to higher energy prices as as the nights draw in and winter comes let me ask you a stupid question if you don’t mind who benefits from this pipeline being um
Damaged well that’s a difficult thing to speculate about just you know just eyeing it from here if Energy prices are higher obviously the energy companies benefit from that I don’t really want to get into the geopolitics of whether Russia benefits or Ukraine benefits or or America benefits because we literally
Bev we’d be here from about half you know half the morning discussing that to give that that that complex set of ideas um the the fair hearing that it needs but look in the here and now there’s going to be well it looks like there are going to be higher energy prices this
Winter than we envisioned they may even be as high as last year that of course has implications for governments because they’re going to have to then start subsidizing households again at a time when governments are pretty cash strapped look maybe it won’t come to this maybe Energy prices will come down
But for now at least there are some very worrying signs that we’re in for another winter of expensive energy okay thank you Liam isn’t it extraordinary that we don’t create more of our own energy Richard tyon well maybe we should use our own energy treasure under our feet
Like Shell gas and oil and gas unbelievable maybe we need to go to labor experts well we will we will do but we Steven po over here we’re not talking to them yet sorry sorry guys just sit tight for a moment because we have this huge story that broke
Yesterday uh we’ve heard from the Chief Fire officer in bedfordshire Andrew Hopkinson on the latest from the fire at luten airport uh take a look at we’ve currently got uh four fire appliances and a couple of other sort of specialist Crews um but we are very much focused on
Getting a Handover you know in terms of baau and getting this airport open as quickly as we can um and you know we we we hope to do that in terms of advice for travelers uh it if the airport flights are not going to resume until
The 3:00 p.m. at the earliest uh if you are scheduled to have a flight you know before for then uh then the advice is not to travel to the airport um but to check with your all travelers to check with their Airline um as to when whether
Your flight is dued and what it’s like to do if you have a car um in any of the car Parks go to the uh L Airport website uh and they will signpost you and give you advice on you know what to do okay so that was the very latest there and my
Brother does have a car in one of those car parks and has messaged me this morning saying which car park is it has my car gone up in smoke I mean there’ll be a lot of people on holiday hearing this and thinking that their prize possession might have just gone boom but
Actually it was the short state car park at Luton so probably people who were more likely to be dropping off maybe and picking up as opposed to gone on a twoe holiday who knows absolutely extraordinary and what sort of car is it who knows who know what you mean the
Electric car that’s what you’re speculating they tend not to blow up two We join by as we can see marvelous Steven pound form lab MP and the UK director of Common Sense Society Emma Webb what tend not to blow up electric cars well I mean there have been rumors
There have been uh theories that the odd one has tended to shatter into small pieces but in reality that you know what blows a car up is actually petrol and G so I would imagine that they’re less flammable it’ll be very interesting because actually it’s once once an
Electric car does catch fart you can’t put it out you read my mind and I was thinking I bet this is a lithium battery because if one car has set on fire even if it’s a petrol car and it’s sitting next to a car with a lithium battery
When those things go up in Flames they really really go up in Flames yeah I mean it is pure speculation but the combination of the two it’s a pretty dangerous mix can can we reassure your millions of viewers please that you know at the moment everything is safe at
Luton at Luton Airport yes but not necessarily if they’ve got an electric car in the garage I’m joking I’m slightly joking there are cases in which electric cars are bursting into flames once particularly once been had an accident oh also the people who Park the scooters in their front hall you know
Scooters and and you know those get very hot um right but obviously the fire authorities will do the work that they have to do and find out whether we are right or wrong right moving on um Stephen let’s go to the issue in the Middle East horrendous uh pictures still
Coming out of the bombardment now on on both sides um your your response really yeah a couple of things firstly um I think every single person every single human being actually has huge sympathy you know for the victims of this victims of both sides but there’s in reality
It’s almost like we’ve reached the sort of the nausea overload level it’s almost horrific and it’s beyond horrific it’s like we thought with Isis we’d actually reach that Peak but you know there’s one thing that really infuriates me one is if you see the demonstrations yesterday
And the day before did you see the banners that were out there they were produced by the Socialist Workers Party they were handing out from the river to the Sea Palestine will be free you know so the Socialist Workers Party are the French bed bugs of politics they lice
They they’re parasites I mean how dare they turn up to something like this and start handing out their posters with Socialist Workers Party and the poor innocent people are actually you know they probably don’t know what they’re doing so how on Earth can we actually take seriously a party that leeches onto
The back and gets onto the back and gives people these posters to carry en chanting a slogan that is straightforwardly genocidal because that’s what that means it means getting getting Jews out of Palestine from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea yeah and I mean how do you think they
Actually realize what they’re Sheltering do you think they realize the damage they are doing to the very fabric of of of of our society of uh different communities the fear in the Jewish Community have they any idea what they’re doing I think that it is nigh on
Impossible to take a charitable view of the people so for example those who were outside of the Israeli Embassy um those who we saw in other Western countries like outside of the Sydney Opera House who were shouting um I’m not going to say it because it’s Breakfast Television but straightforwardly anti-semitic views
Perhaps I should say it so people are aware but they can look it up online um the Sydney one Emma for me that was on the steps of the Opera House these are people the reason why I think that it’s nion impossible to be to give a charitable interpretation to say oh
These people have just come out because they support Palestine is because these people have seen the same things that we’ve seen they’ve seen that babies are being beheaded they’ve seen that um old women are being kidnapped and taken to Gaza one lady who was murdered in her
Own living room and it was posted on her private Facebook page for her family to see these are barbaric inhumane atrocities and anyone who looks at that and still goes along with a crowd of people who say free Palestine quote by any means necessary these this is not
And the same with the BBC referring to them as militants rather than as terrorists because these are people that have committed the most abhorrent crimes and we have people in British streets and in Western cities who are going out and celebrating those actions disgusting and what shocked me Emma was actually I
Went to talk to some of those people at the back end of the demonstration outside the Israeli em to ask them whether or not they actually condemned the actions of Hamas and they couldn’t do it could not do it they were going the whole water bowy about the history
And all that yeah there’s no context that justifies this nor whatsoever but that refusal to condemn I just thought was awful absolutely shocking I think credit credit to you for that Richard because I think more people should actually do that and I think we have to
Call this out we have to call it out we have to say do you realize what you’re saying do you realize that you’re actually prosing for genocide there do you actually accept what’s happening there are you on side of the baby murderers that people are cutting the
Throats of babies I think we also we need to talk about the fact that this is a serious problem for us in this country because if you were a Jewish person now in the street particularly if you’re a visibly Jewish person surely you would feel terrified to know that there are
Thousands possibly people who either in a very overt way support Hamas or people who are very happy to go along with it and then a much broader group of people including people outside you know people people who are from all sorts of communities who are broadly acquiescent or at least
Supine and willing to contextualize these kinds of Horrors anded now feel emboldened they feel that they are now in the right and that they have um historical justification and also currents justification to take retaliatory action against Jewish people in this country St if if you look at
State television in Iran today and I don’t recommend you do but you know I’ve seen some aler has actually taken some clips from it guess what they’re showing there you know they’re not showing these murdered babies they’re showing people London and Sydney and New York and Brussels actually supporting these Hamas
Stroke Isis stroke whatever main much mainstream media seems to be leading on the Israeli R retaliation rather than focusing on what they should be focusing on which is the massacre of innocent civilians just touching on K’s speech yesterday it was almost helped by that idiotic protester at the beginning what
Are your thoughts on the over very difficult to segue isn’t it from what’s happening in Israel labor Party Conference um the K armor has um basically said that he’s going to ignore local opposition the Nim local opposition to building new houses and to build 1.5 million homes on what he calls
Gry belt land um which is Green Belt land but it’s car parks and so on um I think that’s not going to go down very well in red wall areas of course people need housing but people are also very conscious to protect the countryside so he he seems to be um struggling to
Present himself as a kind of almost more Tory than Tory um and I don’t necessarily think that’s going to play very well for him the real the Sparkles were nice yeah but the reality is Stephen we’ve never built 300,000 homes in a single year in the last 50 years no
Proportionately Harold McMillan did it Harold McMillan did it in the 50s in in proportion to the population at the particular time but what’s fascinating about this Rich can I just say you and and GB news should actually be given credit for actually making the labor party the party of capitalism because
Within half an hour of that awful incident of the gaffer covered in glitter do you know what was on sale in the labor party stores in Liverpool Sparkle with starma t-shirts we have embraced capitalism we’re out there in the marketplace that’s what I like to do
I like to shape an influence and people there was a lot of it was a lot of word salad though wasn’t there Stephen as there are in these speeches what does what does get your future back mean yeah I let’s move down from the headline into
The actual the meat you know you where’s where’s the beef on that we’s looking at what he’s doing what he’s actually saying in area after area after area and this morning with Bridget Phillipson speaking on education and W Street speaking on health you really really get down to the nitty-gritty and see the
Basis of it I felt that building building over and over again that is the key thing because we it’s not just building houses it’s actually building confidence but above all it’s building the building block of society the Health Service the police the prisons everything that we GNA I hate to
Interrupt you st you know that but we have to move on a little bit we’ve got lots more time to talk talk to you guys he’s the boss today all know we all know who the boss is I like to think so lots more to come this morning we’re also going to be
Going back to Charlie pet who is in Tel Aviv this morning we are GB news Britain’s News Channel hello a very good morning to you it’s Aiden MCG here from the Met Office with the GB news forecast it’s another gray start in the South but brighter weather finally in the far north whilst

Of the M4 I suspect some brightness coming through and still some warmth but not as warm as it has been 20 or 21 celsius meanwhile quite a chilly feel for Northern parts of the country Northern Ireland Scotland yes there’ll be some blue skies out there but there
Also be a cold wind blowing from the north reaching galeforce around exposed coast of Northern Scotland and bringing in quite a number of showers across Northern Western Scotland in particular they’ll continue into the evening and overnight but mostly restricted Coastal Parts in land plenty of clear skies and a chilly start tomorrow with
Temperatures in the mid single figures perhaps low single figures in some sheltered spots further south we’ve got a lot of cloud we’ve got further outbreaks of rain again running along the M4 Corridor but some outbreaks of rain further south than that clearing finally around the middle of the morning
From East Anglia and the southeast staying fairly damp and drizzly as well as overcast for for southern counties of England but further north actually plenty of sunshine on Thursday feeling free fresh with temperatures of 13 to 15 C I think the most exciting bit for me is talking to ordinary people people who

News we’re also on TuneIn and the radio player apps from the school run to rush hour get revved up with me Patrick Christies on GB news and GB news Radio good morning it’s 11 o’cl on Wednesday the 11th of October this is Britain’s Newsroom on GB news with me Beth Turner and Richard Ty today a warning when we’re talking about Israel and Hamas the images are deeply disturbing there’s been unrelenting Israel bomb attacks on Gaza overnight
Its Defense Forces say that around 200 targets have been hit in retaliation to Hamas atrocities this follows yesterday’s reports that Hamas killed women babies and children in one of the last villages to be recaptured from the terrorist group the defense secretary Grant shaps was talking to GB news about
This earlier on today Hamas behavior and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered people being bodies being beheaded uh that has no place in the 21st century and close to home at sakur st’s Labor conference speech he said that he aimed to create a Britain that is built
To last here’s what he says Britain would look like under his leadership and Holiday from hell all flights at luten airport have been suspended until the afternoon after a huge fire ripped through the terminal short stay car park We got more speeches to look at from the labor party conference today including also from the education secretary what she would do with education apparently teaching uh primary school children real world Mass real world Mass like exchange rates what’s going on makes no sense to
Me does it make sense to you GB views at GB news.com first though here is your very latest news with sfia wiler good morning it’s one minute past 11 I’m Sophia winsler in the GB Newsroom Israel is intensifying its assault on Hamas terrorists striking roads buildings and other sites in Gaza
As huge numbers of reinforcements move towards the Enclave more than 200 targets were hit in a neighborhood used by Hamas to launch its attacks Israeli troops killed at least 1,000 Palestinian gunmen infiltrated from Gaza Sirens were heard in the North of Israel this morning warning of a possible incoming Arial
Threats from Lebanon or Syria raising fears the fighting could spark a broader International conflict now these pictures are coming to us live from Gaza where you can see the scale of the damage following the latest round of air strikes medicine San Frontier describes the situation as catastrophic with overwhelmed hospitals
Struggling to cope amid intense bombardments and dwindling supplies gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 950 people have been killed Israel puts its death toll at 1,200 the UK’s defense secretary Grant shaps told GB news this morning that international support for Israel is crucial attack was clearly absolutely
Barbaric uh in nature uh so they have an absolute right to defend themselves uh we have asked them um to ask us when they need uh anything specific um they and those those conversations are ongoing um but uh you know I think the main thing that they need is
Understanding and support from the rest of the world uh right now uh because what happened was unprecedented uh and frankly pure evil Ukraine’s president is in Brussels for a NATO defense meeting Israel’s defense minister is also expected to join via video link president zilinski is urging world leaders to support the
People affected by Israel’s war against Hamas my recommendation to the leaders to go to Israel and I think to support people just people I’m not speaking about any institutions just to support people who’ve been under terroristic attacks people who are dying now it’s very important Unity is more important
Than to be alone it’s more strong Sheffield City Council is investigating after a scaled the to town hall to remove an Israeli flag footage from social media shows a person climbing the 200t high building during a pro Palestinian protest in the city center last night crowds can be heard
Applauding and chanting take it down as the man threw the Israeli flag to the ground and replaced it with a Palestinian one it comes as a home secretary has warned police Chiefs to use the full force of the law against shows of support for herass all flights at London Luton
Airport suspended until 300 p.m. after a large fire in a terminal car park flames and smoke tore through car parks at the airport terminal last night the fire service says the place suffered significant structural collapse and that nearly 1,500 vehicles are in the affected car park it’s believed it was
Caused by a diesel car five people were admitted to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation a Chief Fire officer for the bedf fori fire service Andrew Hopkinson says Travelers should check their plans with their Airline we are very much focused on getting a Handover you know in terms of
Ba and getting this airport open as quickly as we can um and you know we we we hope to do that in terms of advice for travelers uh it if the airport flights are not going to resume until the 300 p.m. at the earliest uh if you
Are scheduled to have a flight you know before then uh then the advice is not to travel to the airport um but to check with your all travelers to check with their Airline and the shadow education secretary says a labor government would tackle The Chronic cultural problems with maths the
Party will outline plans to boost Math’s teaching in primary schools and encourage stronger lifelong numeracy children would be shown how numeracy is used in the world around them like through household budgeting currency exchange rates and cooking recipes last week the Prime Minister said he would make maths compulsory for the age of 18
But Bridget philipson says Labor’s plans would lead to higher standards in schools the problem with rushy sunak ideas is is that they start way too late it’s no good at 16 trying to get children uh involved in a love of maths we need to do it much earlier because
The problems start earlier which is why today I’m talking about Labor’s plans to make sure that our youngest children and right throughout Primary School get a really firm foundation in maths that they really enjoy it and that we support teachers in how they’re teaching math education and embedding some of those
Real world examples into the teaching of math to to bring it to life life for children and young people it’s labor who’s the party of high and Rising standards this is GB news across the UK on TV in your car and on Digital radio and on your smart speaker by saying play
GB news now it’s back to Richard and Bev very good morning it’s 11:07 thank you uh for joining us I’m going to get some of your emails uh shortly thank you for sending them in so there’s been unrelenting Israel bomb attacks on Gaza overnight its Defense Forces say that around 200 targets have been hit in retaliation to the Hamas
Atrocities these are live pictures now that are coming in from Gaza following those attacks casualty numbers are mounting on both Sid as Israel put their death toll at 1200 and the Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 900 people have been killed in air strikes well we’re joined Now by GB news
Reporter Charlie Peters who is in Tel Aviv now with us Charlie a very good morning again uh just I mean we’re seeing these pictures coming in from Gaza hearing more stories more atrocities uh in Israel the mood amongst people that you’re talking to uh how what are people feeling and what sort of
Sense of response do they want from their government well I’ve just arrived here at Tel aviv’s Expo Center it’s a convention center in times of Peace it’s now become a war room it has been taken over by civilian volunteer organizations who are gathering supplies and organizing to deliver Aid to civilians
And soldiers in the south of Israel where the majority of the atrocities from Hamas terrorists have been conducted since Saturday morning now this organization here all of them they used to campaign against the government as late as last week they were organizing protests against the government but they’ve all come together
Now in this location to support the government’s war effort against Hamas they say it is a great moment of solidarity for the Israeli people as they gather supplies as they look for missing people and as they work together to secure this very existential threat to Israel’s security to my left just
Here there is the main Operation Center of this convention center where so many people have gathered behind the scenes to register names to hear whatever people can offer to the Israeli war effort as volunteers and hundreds are coming through our car took us outside
To a ginormous queue we had to walk in a few hundred meters away where most people are still queuing up with their supplies and then to my right they have another room a packing room which is stacked to the brim with cardboard boxes full of vital supplies hygiene products
Blankets clothes and everything else you might need to with stain the sort of barbaric assault that the Israeli forces and civilians have faced since Saturday morning you’re of pain back in hanger 11 at this location go on Sorry Charlie you’re sort of painting a p picture of extraordinary resilience I suppose uh
What people are more used to it than if for example such an attack took place in London but there must be a great deal of Fury anger distress and wondering what happens next what comes next one week one month down the track sure well I think the general mood
Is that people are expecting the Israeli military to move into a more decisive phase of this war in the 5 days they have been reacting to secure their borders and the people here now expect the IDF to launch into more strikes on the Hamas terrorists inside Gaza now the
IDF has obviously been shaping that attack through air strikes but civilians can shape those attacks too that is what people are saying here they can shape them by volunteering their products their time but also the hunting of missing people which is going on behind me in Hangar 11 this is a really serious
Piece of work that’s doing uh a person just before we came on a told me that they had 200 people gathering in that location just hunting for missing people 24/7 because sadly as we know hundreds remain unaccounted for unimaginable thank you Charlie Charlie P is there in
Tel Aviv you’ve been getting in touch from home Rachel said about the protests here in the UK or the celebrations why aren’t the police doing their job Jackie got in touch say the rties are beyond belief and those responsible must be condemned and chrisa said our right to protest must be protected but
Increasingly we’re seeing protests that are totally outside the UK’s sphere of influence and Jane has pointed out that she thinks the Army should show a presence on the streets when you’ve got demonstrations like the pro Palestinian uh protests can you email’s coming unbelievable isn’t it that we should be
Contemplating something like that it’s it’s a it’s a massive massive wakeup call for all of that all of us here just seeing these demonstrations be interesting to hear it really is um from our next guest actually Lord John man is the government adviser on anti-Semitism uh good morning Lord man
Thank you um for joining us I know you spoke to my my colleague Andrew Pierce um earlier in the week uh Reflections if you will broadly on the situation in the Middle East and and how things have changed really in the last three days well I think people are still in
The shock mode that will turn to anger I’m not sure that’s quite turned yet I think there’s still huge trauma and shock and of course from with my role advising government uh within the British Jewish Community um British Nationals murdered British national kidnapped and people with
Relatives the same and so this Cuts deep into the 300,000 strong British Jewish community and that’s exacerbated by these appalling uh public escapades uh purporting to be supporting pal Palestinians what they’re supporting are two Terror groups uh Hamas and Hezbollah who are prescribed organizations they’re illegal and to promotee them is illegal
I’m pleased to see the Home Secretary as reminded strongly police forces police leaders across the country of what the law is that was passed on a consensus basis in Parliament all the parties in Parliament labor liberal Democrat conservative and the small parties were in favor of these laws we need to use
Them and people in our country who are giving open support and encouragement to terrorist organizations should be should be arrested and prosecuted and that should be happening now so Lord man that is that is what you feel these uh these sort of free Palestine protests appearing in cities up and down the UK
Would you be basically Banning those and arresting people wanting to take them because that’s obviously a it’s another big step uh in this process is is that where you’re at with it the police have been given the police have got good guidance on what the law is and what is
Acceptable in a democracy whether we like it or not in terms of free speech and what isn’t when it comes to prescribe terrorist organizations and Hamas like Hezbollah is prescribed I hope as well we’ll get the Iranian revolutionary guard prescribed I think that now needs to happen I hope
Government will do that but these two are prescribed organizations promoting them and anyone facilitating that and any Outlet or uh any organization any building they giving a facility for that should also uh be prosecuted we need to see prosecutions because the Jewish community in our country traumatized by what it’s seen
From its own Community murdered and amongst family relatives friends needs to see that support the only protests there should be at the moment are free the hostages that’s what the demand should be on the streets of Britain free the hostages there are babies tiny children grandmothers a whole range of people it
Is extraordinarily horrific and you know any decent people seeing anyone protesting about anything other than that should give their opinions in my view and Lord man what troubled me when I went dare dare to it’s absolutely appalling and that’s what shocked me Lord man when I went to
Speak at the back end of the demonstration on Monday evening outside the Israeli Embassy was the complete unwillingness by those at those free Palestine demonstrations to condemn the atrocities that had taken place I have to say that was I I was truly stunned and shocked complete unwillingness in instead just a sort of
Rant it is it is it’s not unbelievable it’s sickening and if they break the law and some of them the things I’ve heard in my view breaks the law let’s have them arrested let’s have them prosecuted let’s not tolerate support for terrorist organizations in this country instead let us support our
Jewish Community impacted by that with a big Jewish community in London a big one in Manchester but across the country there are small Jewish communities you know I’m going to a a vigil tonight and I know people will not beow into standing in that video in solidarity
With the people of Israel and in solidarity with the British Jewish Community I’m going to be going to synagogues and others are as well I’d encourage all our political leaders to be doing that all our Civic leaders to be doing that we’ve seen some of them
Out taking the lead doing it and I commend them what’s encouraging is that’s on a cross party basis we’ve seen this from all the main parties let’s see all our political leaders standing by our own Jewish Community um and let’s see that over the next few days Now’s the Time to
Show Israel the people of Israel and we’re with our own Jewish Community Lord man thank you so much indeed for those thoughts at this difficult time well let’s just see what some of our viewers and listeners have been saying about Labor and about this Lee says I watched
The labor Le yesterday give his little speech I must say I don’t and can’t believe a single word Mr flipflop says Lee says it as he is David says I’d like to be able to give labor a chance but I can’t find myself being able to trust any of starmer’s policy announcements
You you keep hearing this all the time from the inbox people saying I I do want to vote elsewhere I don’t feel as even people who voted concern 20 years a disillusion with what they see now and and they say I want to vote for labor
But I can’t and it’s so that’s something that you reform I’m sure will we’ll be delighted to hear but I think everything is still to play for at the moment because there is not a consensus out there that K sta is a better alternative to Richi sunak let’s Steve said the
Speech yesterday did not contain one specific policy just the usual vague rhetoric and aspirations what are they going to do about legal immigration well I think he literally had about 10 words on immigration and the one thing he did say about building 1.5 million homes in 5 years we’ve not built that number
Which equates to 300,000 homes every year we haven’t done that for 50 years and I just don’t think it’s possible and I know I’m a property guy absolutely uh and we had Marco Robinson in earlier about sleeping out overnight in London um I actually did say to him we didn’t
Talk about on a but we said didn’t we did you get any sleep and he said no because when you’re sleeping Out rough you you constantly sleep with one eye open because there so many threats to you on the Streets of London and Terren has got in touch said the internet
Technology is too complicated and too expensive now for homeless and the elderly to be capable of using it in order to access the right help and support that they need I’m not surprised I’m sure you have to log on to an app to find the place to sleep for the night uh
And Boba said not enough homes because of mass immigration remove these people we would have homes for everyone and Lee also says why can’t the homeless be put in hotels like the immigrants who come over and get put in luxury hotels straight away it’s a key point that it
Really is just you know if you if your population goes up a million a year guess what you’re running out of room well we expecting some news on the BB stockhome actually you know the massive barge uh down in Dorset which one of the local mayors has taken the government’s
Court to see if she can get a judicial review on whether that should be there and that result should be out any minute now but still to come we’re going to be talking to the principle of a fascinating project Israel’s only integrated Arab and Jewish High School

Enjoying it good yeah am I am I behaving despite not getting the coffee in time wonderfully now Jerusalem usually the botling capital of Israel become deserted amid the war in Gaza casualty numbers are sadly mounting on both sides as Israel put their death toll at 1200 and the Gaza Health Ministry reported at
Least 900 people have been killed in air strikes but this is a story that I really wanted us to cover because joining us now is the principal of the max rain hand inand uh School errat mayor good morning ephrat thank you so much for joining us um good morning
Please just tell our viewers and our listeners um who you are and what your school is good morning everyone my name is uh frat Meyer I live in Jerusalem and the principal of the Arab Jewish school high school in Jerusalem I don’t know if people know but in Israel the public
Schools are separated between Jews and Arabs so we’re all citizens but we study in different systems so we don’t get to meet each other to know each other to learn um others language and that’s part of a problem and my school that I’m very proud of the hand inhand school is part
Of six different schools um elementary schools that bring together Jews and Arabs from a very young age from age three and I’m the principal of the high school the only high school that teaches kids from age 12 to 18 together in one classroom it is it is so heartwarming
And it’s one of the few stories that I’ve seen that bring any sort of Hope for the future actually a FR when we’re seeing these pictures how difficult was it for you to get these schools open in the first place it was difficult but not as difficult as you think um groups of
Parents uh started asking themselves why can’t their kids study together why is it so natural for uh people in Israel to separate Jews and Arabs uh in the education system and now they’re about six schools of the hand in hand of of handin hand and also two other Schools
Elementary schools in W Salam Shalom and beeva that also teaches together Jews and Arabs so I think what you’re actually saying is that it’s it’s a Grassroots request from parents to say we can do this better we’ve got to take a Long View and for our children at a
Very young age to to study together to understand each other’s uh different cultures and and and that gives more hope hope exactly and this is exactly why I send my daughters to the school also because I believe that they will grow to be better people when they meet other
People that are different from them they will learn different culture different languages different religions different opinions um it’s widen your soul it’s uh making you a better person it is and any War actually is is a failure of humanity in my opinion any War um I’m interested
To see that um you are the principal you are a woman quite clearly um how many women and mothers are behind this movement to bring people together and start education at the lowest level to bring those individuals to each other’s cultures our Co our communities all over Israel has thousands of
People um and I know that we have many more supporters uh all over the country I think that a lot of people know that no one’s going to go anywhere we’re going to stay here Jews and Palestinians and we need to find a way to live together absolutely right because
Actually most people eat wouldn’t be aware what percentage of the population in Israel actually are Palestinian it’s it’s about 1.6 million isn’t it out of over 9 million in total 20% of the population I think even 21% is uh are Palestinian citizens of Israel um and most of the population are
Jews and some others also um and and do you see this as a growing opportunity will you get support from the authorities or will these atrocities over the last few days make it harder I’m separating your question to two parts uh we get a lot of support we
Need more support always uh people and the government are supporting it we’re part of the Ministry of Education we’re not big schools it’s not a a a huge project but it’s growing and I think that um this is the solution to what’s happening right now you the second part
Of your question was about wartimes um and it is very very difficult uh moments for us but it’s difficult moments for everyone both for Jews and Palestinians whether they study in a mix schools or not mix schools it’s a it’s a terrible moment for all of us
Very sad moment we live together we suffer together but we in handin hand feel that we take a leading role in developing the Next Generation and the future the possibility of different future for this place and we think that there is a pol uh a possibility uh for a
Just peace and for equality and for good life both for Jews and Palestinians in this place H how many families are you having to support at the moment in your school eat whose families have been touched by the violence um about 10% they have direct um um people that they know that were
Affected by the violence from both sides uh but I think everyone right now griefs for their own people and for the other side there is a huge grief right now that number I mean that e one in 10 of your of your pupils I mean that is a
Huge number that just brings know someone one of 10 knows someone who got hurted yes it just shows how how massive this is it touches so many it’s it’s so hard for us to to be able to understand that but I guess what you’re doing it’s
It’s one of those few beacons of hope that everybody sort of tries to tries to rely on and have resilience from and some form of of Hope for the future yes we have a big role in uh reality right now and we’re not going to keep doing what we’re doing uh no matter
What we’re in the doing part um we don’t deal so much with what’s happening right now we’re thinking the staff is thinking what are we going to do what are we going to do with the students when schools will be open how are we going to
Support them and the families and we get a lot of support from the students from staff from families from around us because we know that we’re part of the solution and and that’s part of the problem and E just just a little bit just we we we’re b b shorts on time but
Um your pupils are taught to be bilingual so they speak Hebrew and they speak Arabic that is very rare in that area they speak Arabic they understand Arabic when they walk on the street and they hear someone else’s language they don’t think it’s the language of the
Enemy they think it’s the language of their teacher or their co-friendly way than other uh children in Israel eat thank you so much indeed our best wishes to you at this difficult time it’s such an important project really good to speak to you thank you so much she put

On GB news with Beth Turner and Richard Ty this morning so we’ve been hearing about the fire at luttin airport all morning um we’re joined Now by GB news reporter Theo chomba hi Theo what’s the very latest yes well a very good uh morning to you I don’t know if you can see
There’s a steady stream of people coming from my right heading in towards Luton Airport so the airport is still open for people to come in many of those came early this morning and they were anticipating that they’ll be flying at some point today what we do understand
Though from the airport is that there are no flights flying out of Luton Airport and it’s estimated that they’ll be flying again after 3:00 this afternoon but the problem of course is that they have to get all the crews in the staff airport staff in as well uh to
Ensure uh people can at least fly it’s not just affecting people coming here to the airport but it’s people coming from other countries who are returning uh back to the UK we’ve heard reports of some whove had to go to different airports uh in the UK and then come back
To Lon airport as they live in this area I got in touch uh with Ryan Air this morning and they said this in a statement due to Temporary closure of London Lon airport today we regret to advise passengers of possible delays or cancellations uh on flights to and from Luton and they said
Affected passengers will be advised via email push and SMS as soon as possible Ryan a advises all passengers to monitor the day of travel assistant section of the Ry a app for the latest information regarding their flight it’s estimated at the moment that around 25,000 people are affected by this and
That could be more throughout the day the thanks look I mean it’s now about 11:30 presumably the fire is out why is it taking so long to reopen the place I mean if there’s any other country any other sensibly well organized Nation the place will be open what’s what’s the
Delay what’s the problem or is the far still going so I don’t know if you can see so just over my right shoulder uh is the car par there so there’s two car Parks here the one on the left is not the one affected but it’s the one on the right
And it’s right by the main entrance of the terminal so there are some concerns that there could be further collapse uh all the Press have been moved back to where we are at this point at the moment so that is the concern so it’s not necessarily the issue inside the
Terminal but it’s what could happen if there’s an issue um where there’s been that problem where there that massive fire sorry pretty I mean just pretty shocking actually so essentially one car park can shut an airport for the best part of a day and this could go on and
On serious questions to be asked it feels to me Theo yeah plenty of questions to be asked we’ve heard from the local police that there are questions to be asked about sprinklers for example there weren’t any sprinklers in that car park it’s a new car park as well so it’s a
Shock really to to many people the car par we uh the fire should I say started just before 9:00 p.m. yesterday and we understand there were some rumors that it could have been an electronic car or electric car should I say but it’s actually from a diesel car that’s what
Bedf forer fire and rescue service chief officer said this morning when speaking to the press and this happened on the third floor but interestingly though on the bottom floor is where people come and drop off uh their family friends relatives and so on and no one was
Impacted which is when you look at it it’s it’s quite a standing they’ve described it as a miracle but many people are still coming here to the airport and they’re hoping to fly away at some point today but of course there are many of those questions about how
This happened but there are praises to the fire and rescue team and police and so on who were able to get here so quickly that no one was injured okay Theo thank you so much the to come with there at Len airport it is actually remarkable that nobody was hurt yes I
Mean you look at I mean terrifying pictures absolutely terrifying interesting that it appears it might be a diesel car uh but it does seem to take a long time to get everything back to and running again but uh welcome to Britain and welcome to Steven P and Emma
Weber back in the studio with us hi both now listen we want to talk about this story that happened in Sheffield last night so Sheffield Town Hall we’ve got the footage here uh somebody an idiot scaled the building to remove the Israeli flag that the council had raised
In support of the Israeli people uh he tried to bring it down and it was a pro Palestinian rally in the in the city center they tried to get a Palestinian flag up oh they did in fact we’re just watching it now if you’re listening on
The radio uh the Israeli flag was thrown to the ground and a Palestinian flag was raised above Sheffield Town Center Emma web let me come to you first what this makes my blood boil these people are completely despicable um we have seen in the in the last 24 hours or more we’ve
Seen footage of um migrant workers in Israel um Hamas Fighters trying to behead them with garden equipment um we’ve seen those same work workers um taken as hostages um we’ve seen women being raped as if that is some kind of legitimate um weapon of war and yet
Mysteriously all of the people who are usually The Usual Suspects to speak out against any kind of sexism or perceived fascism um or even in favor of Migrant rights suddenly there’s tumble weed everywhere and instead we have all of these people out in the streets none of
The usual people who would call out those kinds of abuses give us some names Emma Webb who are you thinking of specifically well Gary liner tends to be quite an opinionated fell and he hasn’t said anything I’ve just had a look on his Twitter posted something about it in
Relation to a podcast but he hasn’t he hasn’t spoken out against the abuses of women as a as a weapon of war or anything like that so I find the Silence from The Usual Suspects um particularly I was going to say incriminating that’s not the right word but I just think that
This is absolutely despicable and it must be terrifying for people like I said earlier um for those particularly people who visibly Jewish to see just how many people are willing to support those who are committing these atrocities against men women and children there was a devastating story
Um that was um published in the last 24 hours of a couple who managed to save their 10-month-old twins um by fighting to the death with the terrorists as they entered their house they managed to save them by hiding them and those babies now orphaned were left for 12 hours before
They were F found um by the Israeli authorities what has happened in Israel is horrific and these people who are not only celebrating it but raising the flag in celebration on a public building it is Despicable and that man should be arrested absolutely let’s hope so there
Seems to be a hierarchy of outrage and Israel trumps everything I mean it trumps sexism misogyny racis everything Israel but I’m actually surprised that that Sheffield’s city council did raise the flag in the first place um and I think that’s not necessarily a good look Sheffield has got one of the biggest
Ukrainian communities anywhere in the United Kingdom remember you the history of tractors in ukrainians all based in around Sheffield I don’t remember them flying the Ukrainian flag when Ukraine was under ATT that’s a good thing they they raised the flag surely do you think
So because I mean yes I do I think I think a show of support and solidarity it’s how they feel I mean why not I I think it’s May maybe it could be perceived as as provocative I don’t know but all I’m saying is that once you get
Into this business about raising Flags you set up the counter you know exactly what’s happened here we put up our flag you put our FL I think it’s a perfectly appropriate time to be quote provocative if what you’re doing is speaking out against the barbarity against against
Innocent citizens this is not a point about you you know the the politics of it this is this is about atrocities that have been committed by a terrorist organization not a militant group a terrorist organization um I don’t think that people should pull any punches in condemning that yes I don’t like
Gestures I mean I think the these gestures to me it’s too much like virtue sign I think we should actually be offering to assist and to help and provide financial support economic support political support there’s more to actually supporting Israel than flying a flag but unfortunately it seems
That there is a at least I think they’re doing more than the likes of Lin like Emma Thompson some of the other I think that’s that’s a given no but I think it’s I think it’s really important we’ve got to call these people out when they
Say that I think we need I think we need to point out in the future when they cry fascism at every turn and when they are calling out various things that they find problematic in our own Society I think we need to point out to them in
The future that they have lost their credibility because they didn’t speak out when innocent women who were just attending a a peaceloving rave near the Gaza border um were raped and murdered um and there’s a football match at is it at Wembley this weekend and there is a suggestion thank you because
You know Stephen my sporting knowledge is not brilliant uh but there’s a foot an international football match should they be raising the Israeli flag at the at the match should they be shining the symbol of Israel this is one of the suggestions well it’s interesting youve got players like Mana Solomon who you
Know who is an Israeli who plays for Spurs um and you’ve got players for Brighton you know and I’ve noticed that sometimes the Israeli players actually have the Star of David cut into their hair you know I don’t there’s anything wrong with that you’re just being a just
As much as you know I I would wear a but Wembley for example it sha the Ukrainian flag last year in support of Ukraine I think it did the same after the Balan atrocity back six or seven years ago so I mean it’s got It’s got a record of of
Showing solidar they did after batt I know some people tried to have the French flag but and then the flag of Paris was actually flown up that you know the FL Le but look I I just I think but once you get into this competitive flag waving I I think there’s a problem
There are certain rules as well to prevent um football clubs and so on they’re not supposed to be political I just think that politics there’s a reason why people have argued myself included that politics should be kept out remember when Hull was owned by a Palestinian um you know and he wanted to
Actually have the Palestinian flag on their shirts well it becomes an issue of compell speech and that’s a problem um should we talk a little bit about k st’s um speech yesterday to to he didn’t quite say Bill back better but it was a bit like rebuild the UK wasn’t it Emma
What what did you make of what he said he see he seems to be um trying to G A votes by being more Tory than Tor oh stop pleas I don’t I mean I think having watched um the footage of the labor party conference I think particularly um
I hate to say it I think Rachel Reeves’s delivery was fantastic if I don’t agree with the content of her speech um I think Tories should be viewing them as a real threat but I also think that their policies are a bit na frankly well the only policy that St mentioned building
1.5 million homes in 5 years we’ve never done in 50 years and I you I think it’s naive I think completely naive I mean frankly it just shows actually they’ve got not a clue what they were talking well I think they have got a clue there’s one there’s one thing I think
Which is a real a real bit of meeting that and this is which unfortunately I called it um the labor party is going to create something called GB news I actually meant GB energy um because they stole that idea I know it was a Freudian the idea he said you know we
Are committed to setting up GB news I said well fair play actually he also said he was very keen on reform even though some people didn’t like it I I was actually tear that up for you I’ll tap him down in the Box you look the point being that one of the biggest
Problems we have is energy security we’ve just seen that with the situation in Finland and the cost of energy and I think the idea of having a national energy provider is a first class idea and I I think I think it’s an excellent and certainly what Bridget was saying
This morning you know about maths and about phonics in maths and various other things there’s a lot we can do but above all immigration is this huge issue which I think will syn the tourist and what we’re saying is instead of wasting money on ludicrous futile gestures like Rwanda
Which the Israelis tried 10 years ago and and didn’t work then we should actually be put employing more people in the home office getting more determinations made and getting the thing dealt with at s that but there was almost there was almost nothing in starma speech about immigration which is actually a huge
Issue service I think if immigration will sink the Tes then immigration will torpedo the labor party if they get into Power because behind all of this they there are there is a socialist backbone if you could call it that um if there is a backbone um but there is a beneath the
Beneath the thin veneer there are still all of those objectionable socialist policies um and I don’t think that the labor party have a plan to deal with immigration other than just talking points even if they have talking points on this if the if the conservative party have failed to deal with immigration
Imagine how much worse it would be under the labor party we’ve not got long I want to touch on James Bond now we have the real life James Bond sat uh beside me oh I mean stepen pound what’s going on everybody I’m on job you walk right
Into that one time so would it make a difference if if James Bond was black or female to recruiting people to MI6 that is not what fiction is supposed to be about it’s not you shouldn’t be factoring in recruitment to the Civil Service when you’re trying to put
Together a good film or a good piece of fiction I have to say after Emma web slipping the knife in there so brutally she’s like olle ganos solar the babyfaced Assassin when she you know I think quite clear the new Jane Bond is there I think James should be a man
Right well to to another J you can identify another James Bond in the studio now Mark Longhurst is here to tell us what he’s got to talk about today with Pip Mark yeah inevitably it’s the latest from Israel the Israeli military saying they’re ready to execute their mission hundreds of thousands of
Troops Gathering of course on the border of the expected ground offensive into Gaza now we’re speaking to a British Palestinian surgeon who’s in gaza’s embattled hospital trying to save children’s lives he’s been operating today the operating theater running on emergency generators we’ll have his story story for you also coming up 17
Britain now reported to be missing or dead in Israel we’ll be speaking to the MP for henden with police increasing their presence on London streets amid these anti-semitic protests the Home Secretary warning even waving a Palestinian flag could now be a criminal offense all the date is coming up for
You at noon stay with us thank you Mark right we’ve come to the end of the show today will you come back tomorrow oh if you insist definitely good right I will also be covering p jubes uh tonight at at 6:00 uh thank you to Emma you’re worth the license aren
You oh I put the hours in pound you can’t deny that right and we will be back with Britain’s Newsroom uh tomorrow morning at 9:30 me and Richard if we will come back you are with GB news the people’s Channel stay with us for the day GB
