Pick back up where i left off from yesterday’s video so let’s get started okay you guys so the first question that i have on here is how did you know when you were ready to join your organization that is a really good question um i knew when i was in eighth grade
Honey i ain’t gonna lie to y’all i ain’t even gonna lie i did not i’m not gonna lie i would stay up all night watching greek videos i would stay up all night watching akas like just stroll and just be so pretty and just be like obviously i say this all the time
When i was first interested in joining organization it was at a younger age so i was doing it for the colors and you know the dance moves at the time what i was thinking i didn’t know that it was strolling like i was like oh my god they step in
They dancing they so pretty the guys want them that’s where my mindset was but as i got older and as i went into high school and college and i met so amazing so many amazing um akas and i just saw them on tv saw them politically um that just made me
Want to learn more about the business aspect i knew for a fact that these ladies have something going for themselves not only are they in this organization that i want to be in but they’re part of the same field that i want to go into they’re making money
And i want to do that they’re they’re debt-free and i want to well now i’m you know thinking they’re that free and i want to do that you know what i’m saying so like it is um it was so important for me to just realize why i was joining this organization um
But i knew when i wanted to join or i knew that i wanted to be an aka at eighth grade that’s when i knew i wanted to be an ak when i knew i wanted to join um i knew i wanted to join my freshman year of college honestly but unfortunately they
Did not have it so then i tried to charter a chapter the school that i was at was a racist school they did not want a social black all black organization on campus when they already felt like we did enough with bsu um so that was something um
So i knew that i had no choice i knew i did not want to join my senior year of college because that would that would not give me enough time to be in the organization and to learn it um so i was like my junior year it has to be my junior year
That’s how i knew um so the next question is does your pledged parent have to be in the same organization as you no they don’t um i know deltas who have alphas that are um oh wait well i guess they don’t mean me and but i know deltas that
Uh have to like i know deltas that have well i’ll take that back because i’m talking about more of a fraternity to sorority pledge parent now i’ve never saw an aka have a pledged parent that is a delta um i’ve always seen aks with aka deltas with delta so
On a female sorority to sorority aspect yes your pledged parent is always going to be the person that’s in your organization because why would you have a pledge parent that’s a delta i mean i don’t know make it make sense but if they are dudes you know if it’s a fraternity to
Sorority type of thing then i’ve seen deltas who have alphas as pledge friends because we don’t have queues on our campus or we didn’t at the time we still don’t because you know they got banned but you know whatever um so yes that’s that uh the next question
Is what are some things you all hate to hear when interviewing a potential member oh that is such a good question um i personally i’ve never interviewed um potentials just because you know i’ve never been able to have brought in um a line when i was when i graduated obviously you guys know
The story now with my line of sisters and everything i graduated and i was asked to come back by one person to be a part of the new pledging process and i respect this young lady for asking me to come back still to this day
I you know i kind of feel like she was upset that i said no but i didn’t like knowing the girl she was one of the only girls that i really liked and i was just like no i’m not gonna do that i don’t really like springfield like that to be honest
And i don’t like the people so i’m not going to join um i did wish all the young ladies that crossed at my chapter a congratulations i don’t consider them my neos just because um i was not a part of their process but if i was in the position of interviewing somebody
I would hate to hear the typical interview answers i would hate to hear filler words some filler words that i say a lot i would hate to hear like um and like that’s what i say all the time so it’s kind of like contradicting myself for me to be like
Why am i saying it and that’s hypocrite why would i say that when i just said that i don’t want to hear that but i’ll say that what are you going to do we’re living in 2020. anyways um but yeah i would hate to hear that i would hate to
See somebody who’s nervous i would love to see people who are confident i don’t know what it is but i love to see women just owning their [ __ ] and owning who they are and just like yeah so this is who i am don’t come off too
Cocky because it’s a way that you can come off and i feel like whoever the person that masters the art of just coming off exuding confidence without being cocky is the bomb all right but anyways um yeah that’s probably what i would hate to see personally hearing i’ve never sat in on
An interview so i don’t know what i would hate to hear so i mean if you guys have been able to interview neos you’ve been a dean or you’ve you whatever the case may be you went through the process of bringing in people what do you guys hate to hear
Let’s answer that down below that’s a really good question i personally can’t talk about that i can’t really speak to that just because i have never brought in people um i kind of feel like i’m bringing in you guys when or like my you know the new people that are
Joining organizations i kind of feel like i’m your pro fight from a different organization if you’re not joining my organization um but you know it is what it is so that’s the question that i feel like you guys should answer not me next question pursuing greek life as a community college transfer
Student how to do it well um just do it honestly um just because you came from a community college does not make you any less than people who are you know attending the four year from start to finish um it just made you smarter because financially you won’t be in as much debt
As the person that you know started out freshman year okay okay next question sorry because my dog is like under my chair being crazy next question if you want to join one org if you want to join one org is it bad to go to another orgs party even if you just
With your friends um no i don’t think it’s bad i just think um if you’ve already expressed interest some people can be a little salty about that and some people can be like why are you going at organizations events and blah blah blah like people can just be petty like that
And people can feel a certain type of way but it doesn’t matter honestly okay the next question that i have is do you think joining an organization as an older undergrad 25 student is still as enjoyable yes i feel like that makes okay i feel like you would have to be careful because
You’re dealing with people who are not as mature as you but then again it’s a lot of 25 year olds and 30 year olds and 40 year old people who are not as mature as some of us 20 19 blank year old young millennials so i feel like it’s
Definitely going to be enjoyable because i mean i feel like yes it would be as enjoyable as you make it if you’re a social person yeah it’s going to be enjoyable you’re going to be able to shine some light you’re going to be able to learn some things from people you’re
Going to be able to share something and um inspire people give wisdom to people so your age i always tell people to use your age to an advantage whether you’re younger or older because you can always bring something to the table age is nothing but a number period
Okay next question how can you be an interest of the organization if the organization isn’t posting anything on their page for you to be active um you can be an interest and they not be active as an organization you can be an interest and you can reach out to them
Um you don’t always have to feel like they have to reach out to you and they have to do something for you to reach out you can just reach out because you want to reach out because you’re that interested that’s how you can be interested um how
Do you know the signs that an organization is about to come out uh they drop a flyer they are not seen as much on campus um they’re not holding that many events anymore nine times a ten if they’re not holding events it’s because they’re bringing it in line
Or just because these they suck against um so yeah so that’s how you know um a line is potentially coming out the next question is number of community service hours should i get i have 30 right now 40 the end of this week girl you sad you are good you’re good
Don’t even worry about it anymore hours like honestly i knew people that had less than 15. so you’re good i had what i think i had like 23 or 20 something um so yeah you’re definitely good you don’t need no more right unless you just love getting community service and doing community
Service then definitely do it um the next one is how should i go about talking to members i don’t know will it come off fake um it won’t come off fake unless you make it fake um if you’re genuinely a person who wants to get to know people
And you have a common entrance with or interest with someone who you haven’t spoke to speak to them um it only comes out fake when you make it fake so don’t make it fake period um the next one is is 27 too old to pledge undergrad no it is nasus you better pledge
