And the um you know intense nature of the initiation process hazing is when we see these Greek life communities initiate new members and test their loyalty and dedication and at times the methods that are used can be very brutal and uh borderline life-threatening uh which is not uh great and if no one’s
Physical well-being is in danger sometimes their mental health is many frats and sororities use humiliation you know Good Old Reliable as a method for their hazing I’m going to read you some examples so you can get the gist of the nature of all of this now these articles
Are a bit dated but I still need to read these stories because what the [ __ ] so this person was rushing for a sorority and she claims that she was forced to clean up juice from the floor using her back and act as a trash can for the other girls
Just girly things you know uh taking whatever garbage they had and carrying it in her Pockets love love that it went beyond humiliation though she claimed things reached a physical level when she and other pledges were forced to stay awake all night without being permitted to use the bathroom
Another sorority pledge from Penn State says that she was forced to stand with her nose against a concrete waldering rush if she or the other pledges moved at all they had their heads slammed into the brick also she had to clean the floor with her fingernails and drink what she described
As Pitch Black Water nothing like starting out the semester with some diluted tar a pledge for a fraternity was held down and then tied to a chair they took him out into the backyard and then proceeded to dump two large buckets of a substance over him the smell was
Horrendous and they asked what it was They were told that it was two weeks worth of feces urine vomit and other bodily fluids contributed by the members of the House who lived there how thoughtful now what I don’t understand is how people subject potential group members to this horrible and awful treatment and then think that

Pressure that makes people engage in very very heavy drinking you know drinking is like anything else it’s not inherently bad but if you do it in copious amounts uh it could be dangerous and not good between 2010 and 2020 there were 26 hazing related deaths 15 of them
Were strictly due to alcohol and I’m sure for at least some of the other ones alcohol was also involved in some capacity I mean it’s really just super sad to see these people’s lives cut short due to completely preventable circumstances I did a little research on what Greek life is
Like four because I didn’t really understand it um but it was initially made for like obviously community and building life skills leadership things like that but it’s just evolved into this thing that feels so far away from the initial premise it’s like why are you making me [ __ ]
To join your little club that I thought was supposed to be about like life skills and Leadership honestly if you go through the hazing process between the alcohol consumption the stress and physical exhaustion I feel like you need to give your organs a heads up before

Anyways um I’m sure that the hazing has become a lot less severe in the present day so it’s a little easier for me to wrap my head around why someone would want to join Greek life but my confusion is more why people back then were still joining you know my sister was actually
Looking to join this sorority and she ended up not joining it because they weren’t necessarily hazing her in the way of like drink this bottle of piss but they were like basically like humiliating them and being like you’re not good enough to be here you pathetic
