And guide right and the executive producer of Kappa League TV so Kappa League is the oldest and most successful African-American mail Le mentorship program in US history it was founded in 1922 and since 1931 we’ve been mentoring about 8,000 stud students a year which leades us to about 700,000 young people
That have come through mentorship in cap alphasize mentorship program we’re very very proud of that and we’re very very excited to have you with us this year so now I’d like to introduce you to our national director Kevin berett Kevin why don’t you let them know why you’re so
Excited about them being in Capital League this year I want them to know that we have an exciting and challenging program this year uh we look forward to working with each of our young men to help them Reach their development level our job was to help create leaders
And to help them fulfill what their dreams and objectives are and in doing that uh we think that will bring the best out of them and bring the best out of our program uh I’ve been involved in guide rights since 1975 it’s my mission it’s my passion and
There are a lot of other Capal brothers that are just like me that are here committed to make your son a success so Kevin I know we have something called The Core four and I don’t know if all of our parents know exactly what that is
Can you explain it to them sure our core four or four main program initiatives that each one of our chapters uh Implement each year and the first one is College Prep which is preparing all our students to go to college our second one is our social action community service
Which we want all of our students engaged and be productive members of society and prepare them to be active in society our third is our College Success our college success is our continuing mentoring program for our students that have already graduated high school that are now in college and to make sure they
Continue to succeed and graduate college and our last one is our mental health and wellness and so that’s really important to us coming out of the pandemic coming out of coid and it’s no surprise that uh suicide is the number four killer of African-American children
Age five to 17 so we want to make sure that our young people are mentally healthy and that they continue to be mentally healthy and we give them the guidance and even the referrals if they need it um now I think too there’s a couple of more programs that you guys
Are going to be working with this year can you tell us about those sure we have some new programs uh the first one is our college career assessment and ACT prep uh the purpose of that is to assist our high school students and getting a feel for what
Maybe their real career interests are what colleges best fit those career interests and preparing them to take the ACT prep uh secondly we have a your next steps program and the purpose of that is to to take our high school seniors uh to help prepare them to get into the
College that they want to get into and then continue to Mentor them and provide them support as they go on to college graduation summer jobs internships uh co-ops and various opportunities and lastly we have our closeup Civic engagement program and that’s our program that we have in the
Summer Washington DC and is preparing our young men to be active in politics and to understand uh the political environment so one of the big Parts about this Kevin is our parents knowing how they can participate and support our program do you have any suggestions for them on

Purpose of the guid right certification is to implement best practices to mitigate risk and promote safety while operating guide right programs each fraternal Year all chapters are required to complete the guide right certification even if they do not have an active guide right program chapters that do not comply with
The guide right certification requirements will be prohibited from condu conducting any guid right activities and are subject to additional penalties to be determined by their respective Province pmark getting started is easy reach out to your Province Guri director for the quick start guide for guid right chairman it has instructions for account creation
Assigning roles and completing the certification details approvals are electronic so no wet signatures are required just as a reminder that approval of the certification confirms that your chapter agrees to adhere to the dos and don’ts listed on the certification approval page violation of that agreement will result
In suspension of your guid right program and referral to your Province pool Mark for additional review each province may have their own due dates for the completion of certification but it must be completed no later than November 1st need help in getting started or with an issue your
