Oh you screaming at the game Fitness yes shout out to the New England Patriots for winning that what I was voking for really I actually was when I tell you that last call I was done I was so excited when when that whole ball fumble thing happened I was like wow see they
About to do this thing they about to do this thing yes it was a good game though you know they both really kept it tight um we had a like a little Super Bowl Gathering okay um I did not cook noia this time but I I was going to fry some chicken
Actually this time um but no we ended up like just doing like um take out sandwiches wings and you know stuff like that have some family and friends over so we had a great time it was so turned up and entertaining that I ended up losing my voice
Yeah you’ll be doing a lot of talking tonight well you know I’m used to that just running off pretty much but my weekend was um Pretty good overall um Friday evening uh was you know some work Saturday here we go Miss Baker does not know how to have
A day just to relax and do what nothing say it with me Miss Baker nothing that did not happen this CU then on Saturday well we did the shoot Saturday morning right I did my um my exercise in the morning boot camp then I met it with you the photo shoot
Right after that I had some of the um girls over to watch that DVD Premiere that fashion show that happened last month and um after that I stayed at work for probably till about 7 8:00 okay Sunday with the church um after church you know got prepared for the Gathering
Okay how many how many people did you have wait minut that count could last night count as as not working and and no okay but no first first first of all you had a gathering so you had people over okay okay so I’m pretty sure you had to
Host it am I correct okay okay so I’m pretty sure you was not just sitting down I guess I was just entertaining it but go ahead okay so host the entertaining same thing so no it’s not really it’s not really relaxing no I didn’t sit down that much exactly tell
More to drink he I watch this people was dropping stuff like dropping stuff down you was picking it up okay exactly see I I knew it no uhuh no uhuh that that doesn’t count that doesn’t count well tell us about what you did over the weekend that was
Nothing I want to hear nothing one of these days let me hear it well let’s see what did I do this weekend um Friday haircut it was time um to get prepared for a Saturday um and then Friday I pretty much once I got home just got you know my clothes and
Things like that together and then Saturday woke up ran some errands real quick early did the photo shoot which was like we said was really good um and then after that um one of my good friends um Aaron it was his birthday so we went down to a restaurant down in DC
Which I never been to and it was crazy because let me tell you this about this Baker it started off calm like we ate you know in the food was okay you know um we were down like down near the Georgetown area not really Georgetown but food was okay so then what happened
Was he told us he was like well right afterwards it’s going to turn into like a open dance floor so we was like all right so all in all I think it was probably like about 12 of us 12 13 of 12 maybe 15 people I say 15 people so when
I got there I was eating you know I was busy you know eating and socializing but I did not notice that the other end of the table start asking the waitress hey can I get my bill so she got the bill but then when it came time for them to
Start getting the dance party together everybody else at the table she just slapped on one bill and she was just like the bill was like $400 and she was like oh my goodness y’all break this out y yourself what wait a minute do you know that mean I’m getting your gratuiti right I’m
Doing your job so people are just starting to like it was not crowded at all next thing I know people just start coming we are still sitting at the table they are grabbing candles blowing candles out it’s just like a man house so we’re just sitting in there was like
What are you waiting for we broke the bill down we waiting for her to bring it back broken down further right so finally she’s away and that’s when the security comes I’m sorry y’all but y’all going to have to get up we got to move
These tables cuz we push to dance oh my God they moved the taable so as they moving the last table she finally comes with the bills for the remaining of us and I think the last maybe like $20 she was just like man just forget it I I’m
It’s just too much cuz it just got too crowded then come to find out I as I like literally turned around it was just a packed house it was three levels of a packed house come to find out I thought it was a cover charge to get in oh no
You can get in for free only thing that you have to do is probably just like go to the bar and buy a drink but they don’t they don’t you know actually keep an eye on that it was that crowded that it was a line wrapped around the
Building wow Miss B I said you know what so was it was it did it turn out nice though yeah I mean I stay for a little bit as far as the music portion is concerned but it was just so crowded that it it was like if they broke out
With the wobble I’ll be doing the exit but you know what a lot of times when when parties are overcrowded like that it make you not even want to be there yourself you’re not comfortable yeah that’s how I felt and it was one of my other friends that I was with her
Crazy T she going to say she was like bump that I’m about to call the fire marshal because this is a fire hazard I said we don’t need that tonight let me make take it back to my car before you called the fire Mar so other than that
And then Sunday um I just chilled caught up on some shows during the game so I watched um Indina Melle open awesome then honey that half time show what that half time show hold on no no hold on Katy Perry shut it down Missy Elliot shut it down Lenny look good shut it
Down but when I tell you what made me laugh now I’m not with the whole Facebook you get on Facebook and they they they put the side by side images when somebody took the Cheetos M and they put ktie Perry with it I didn’t see that I haven’t really been online today
Though I haven’t seen that that was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life but no hands up props up to miss Katy Perry she did have Missy came back and she said look I’m I’m back with with long I was like girl your head gross and
I’m going to hit y’all with an old song you going to love it exactly I felt like I was back in high school for a minute I was like is she working she but that was about it so watched a little bit of Super Bowl and then you
Know of course my show Black List was on and me um executive producer ter Styles was going back and forth for Facebook because he’s never seen Black List and he’s telling me that you know um Miss Miss pop and uh and her other crew that
Comes on how how to get away with murder they can outdo Blacklist so we got into this whole Black List day I haven’t even seen black list but there’s no way they messing with it now if you if you just threw Empire in there I might have could
Have he threw that in there too so we was just going back and forth on Facebook but [ __ ] need have been coming on after well you know what happens each Network when they get the actual Super Bowl they choose their hottest show and it actually allows to give them a Super
Bowl slot to kind of build up not necess build up the ratings but they know they’re really going to go in so every Network gets it so he was like Empire needs to be doing it well one it ain’t on Fox right now so depending on when
Fox get it if Empire still hot then they could probably do it I can definitely see them doing it though but so other than that I’m telling you after the Super Bowl went all people TVs went off or change the channel nobody was or they turned it off right after that last last
Play and they was like bump that I’m done I’m done but in all so you was happy with the win and all that kind of stuff I was I was in there going and I made up chants and everything okay that’s why um all way
Horse but yeah I had a good time I mean my team is the Ravens all day long but like what I was telling like the people that had came over yesterday was you know once you get there you have to pick a team even if it’s not your team just
You know to make it fun so then once they came um they picked their team then we had like these little beads that’s the color of the team so you have to wear your the beads and then U we had like these little piggy banks that was
The colors of the teams where you could put money in there and at the end of the night winners you know take all losers lose all pry so that was a big old thing because the Patriots team walked away with gas money for everybody so yeah
That’s a smart way of doing it you know I know it’s like most people it was it was a no pressure it was like you can put a dollar in here you can put $10 in here I like that you know so people put in whatever they wanted to put in okay
Cuz you know some people be going big balling like well yeah $200 I I can’t I can’t do that my heart will start hurting my brothers do stuff like that and if you ain’t meeting them there they ain’t going to put it in oh see that’s the way you got to
Do well we going to take a commercial break but before we take a commercial break I just want to bring um a quick awareness this Friday February 6th it’s National Wear red day um this came from one of our listeners and um big shout outs um for giving us this information

Chapter in how County in the how County Marland home Marland cues rout to the BR all right okay so we about to just pass the show over go right he just he just broke it down I what I say he just broke it down I’m ready I’m ready I’m okay I got
One question go ahead goad Miss Baker can y’all teach me a step T night before we leave at least one she said I’m retired ke said I’m retired I can’t about eight years and I’m tired you’re never you’re never too old too young too tired do
Any that means I’m get Ste in St steep in weding I could I could be in the wheelchair and just put one foot out and just hop all out she said y’all step in weddings y’all step in McDonald McDonald’s Five Guys on the corner
Matter you got to be ready you got to be ready all right so so we G to start with Kesha Kesha tell us a little bit about your actual organization that you pledged absolutely so 2520 social Fellowship Incorporated was founded in 1969 uh at winon salm State University we were
Uh we are a community community service based organization so nonprofit in Roots we are a non- Greek organization so we are not affiliated with the Divine n but we have very strong ties and Partnerships with the Divine n okay and what made you decide to choose that particular organization security message
Please call the phone number provided as soon as possible okay thank you Miss Baker for that Miss Baker is breaking it down laptop so funny I decided to join swing five swing uh after a first look Fair which is usually the you know freshman orientation organizational Fair
On campus and uh they had a banging Booth um I had two women that were at the booth who really kind of broke down what swing was I went to a few events some Community Service events and you know before going to college I was kind
Of like oh I don’t really want to join the organization I just want to go to school graduate you know make some friends you have a lot of people that actually a lot of people that say that that it really you know you just you hear certain things about it and
Sometimes you hear positive sometimes you hear bad things but it’s like you really don’t know and everybody I don’t want to join it you know I don’t want to do that but then you go in things may change yeah you know and I went to a few
Events hung out with some sisters hung out with you know some of my brothers group I group social Fellowship Incorporated and uh fell in love and from that point on I went through the process and became a member oh wow okay so um Eric what about you well my organization
Um Omega attor incorporat was founded on Howard University in Washington DC we were founded by four illustrious black men three Juniors and actually one advisor um the advisor name was ever was Ern ever just the three Jers were Frank Coleman a James Cooper and Bishop edar
Amos love we are the first counted the first okay africanamerican organization to be founded at Howard University else came after us wow um my organization was based on the on the four C principles manhood scholarship perseverance uplift and our model is friendship ESS to the soul we have over 700 chapters Nationwide
And excuse me and one of those chapters had to be my chapter the tall High chapter located how County Maryland okay so what made you decide to um pledge pledge Omega this is a real long story um this start in fourth grade wow that yelling yes when I was in
Fourth grade um doing black hisory moth um in a mega step team to this day I don’t know where they were from they came and they did an amazing job hopping and I was just Blown Away Now mind at for GR I didn’t really know what they
Would I just knew they had my favorite color it was purple and they would just jump across the stage acting a fool and that was me at the time so I went home and I and um I SP to my mother what I seen and she said well ER that is a frat
To explain to me what fraternity was I really didn’t care all all I knew was that I I want to do it so she said well you go to college you can do it I was like so I go to college I can do it she
Said yep so I said cool no problem so years later back in my mind I kept I kept in the back of my mind I want to do this into high school where I start getting more mature I start to research other organizations beside Omega Sai
Still wanted to be a member of Mega Sai I researched all the other organizations so once I finally graduated from high school I went to college still wanted to be a member Sai and and like a few years later in fall 12 I course into Omega Sai
Oh wow okay yeah I mean I would have to say the omegas are loud they’re very loud very very loud interesting so two different two different paths and two different decisions on how you actually decide to pledge um quick question for you guys um to get into some questions that we have
I I know you mentioned as far as like going on Keesha going to the actual Fair the fair and actually you know seeing some of the booths and set up did was that really what caught your attention or did you kind of know a little bit about it prior to going so
When I actually approached the BR the booth um these women were having a conversation with each other so I was kind of like whoa you know am I you know being disrespectful by jumping into your conversation and you know they kind of you know got a little bit of my
Background talked about you know what I want to do with my life after this college and I think that conversation was very crucial it wasn’t more so the selling or the pitching of you got a joint swing you got to do this you got to be into something it was more so well
Tell me about yourself you know the interest of being a black woman on campus kind of relating to the experience that they had was more important than that hard cell okay all right so what about um cuz I know you started at a younger age and you never once thought about um Eric
Going to a different like pledging a different Organization no even though like um me I’m the well I’m aside from my cousin in um St Louis who pass I’m the only um Greek in my family my mother was a single sweetheart at cop University but that’s a little bit
Different than what I’m actually so no my decision has never changed at all I mean I mean even though I researched every I mean every other organization cap off asside five better Sigma my choice place has never changed okay um if both of y’all can get
Into what are some of the benefits of being a part of either fraternity or sorority or you know another outside independent organization oh sure okay so one of the benefits outside of you know what is toted as the networking purposes or you know the lifelong friendships that you
Have I think one of the benefits that I’ve grown to love in my almost eight years in my organization is the opportunity to connect with people who I probably would have never spoken to or even seen on the street and I think having that exposure to those
Women who are nurses who are doctors who are lawyers kind of brought in my perspective of me and you know my growth as a woman as a black woman in general so I think you know networking is great that’s that’s one you know benefit of the organization you know a a lifelong
System Hood someone you can call on you have line sisters or you know women that you enter into the organization with so you have someone you can lean on someone that can baby said your children when you got built-in aunties and grandmas you know Grand uh godmothers all of that
But I think being exposed to women from different areas and aspects of their lives my L sister is you know 5 years older than me so you know she came from a totally different mindset than I did you know when I came in she was close to Gra
Graduating so she wasn’t even thinking about you know oh I’m just I’m pledging I’m doing this you know was a you know she had different values on money different values on family different values on you know just seeing the world and I was just like oh I’m ready to party
And she let me grow up very quickly so wow um what about you well as far as me it was basically the Brotherhood I’m an only child and I’m only child single parent I was raised by my mother and my grandmother my two aunts so raised by
Four strong black women in my household so basically wanted Brothers brothers that I can call upon whether I’m right wrong or indiff I mean I show to cry on let me some money give me a ride here and there just brothers to just call on
At the at the drop down and I have a whole Chapter whole organization of brothers that I calling on right now if I’m in trouble they stop what they doing half of are married half of are not married stop what they doing and come
And get me and come see about me so that was my main thing that attracted me to this particular Oran a it the Brotherhood now do you feel um that fraternities or sororities has changed with the time do you feel like they’re really the organizations are still the same well like like anything
Um it’s definitely changed um some for the good and some for the bad um with anything like I said there’s good and there’s bad parts to but it’s definitely changed from like from the beginning of time cuz cutis it was found in November 17th 1911 so we’re over4 years old so
The values that was set back then in 1911 have completely changed and morphed and evolved to where we are today in 2015 so definitely they definitely changed and and what do you think Kesha do you feel like things have changed over time you know very similar to how
He answer I you know my organization was founded in the 60s so our our foundation Our Roots are based in the Civil Rights Movement afrocentricity so I think as time has changed you know the 60s we’re in 20 2015 totally different genre we have issues that we’re still fighting
Which are very similar and the same as what we fought in ‘ 69 but you know the ways that we’re fighting them the ways that we’re you know our Outreach and you know the ways that we communicate it’s totally different exactly and you know to um jump back on what you were saying
Eric it it is amazing because that’s how a lot of people I know that have actually thought about you know pledging was because they were like a single child or they were raised just by you know their mothers and they never really had a father figure in the house
I think that’s another and then when I see you know people and I hear their story I think that’s another reason why I didn’t want to necessarily pledge because it’s like well I hate that you go through this if you went through this you went through this and it’s just like
Well can I really do it so in some cases it’s like it’s always good because you have that person that you can really lean on but then in other cases it’s like uh well you hear stories and it’s like can I really do this or not because
Would you actually say both of you would you actually say that even though you have the support of your your people that you’re Crossing with your line is still an individual thing yes and no yeah yeah yes yes and no because like when you’re on a line
Now for those who don’t know what a line is um it’s basically like your pledge class um you go over even the fall or the spring and the people who basically are in that class with you they’re on your line and you basically have um people on your left people on your right
And they’re the ones who basically go go through process sorry they go through process with you right and they have your back if no question about about they got your back and you’re actually more close with your line your line sisters as they’re called right than in
Your whole organization like I have line 10 including me and me and my front door the why it’s what call my front door because he stands in front of me when he line us up he stands in front of me right I have a front door and I have a
Back door and my front door and I are young and I Chapter I cross to 26 he at 24 and our chapter is 150 plus so we’re the the babies in the chapter right so we had to have each other’s back because all the other line Brothers like the
Oldest one on on my line now he’s now 54 now right so we had to basically lean on each other because like we’re still in our 20s and we still look like we’re in our early 20s even to this day I’m 20 I’m 20 years old now and I like that I’m
In my early 20s so you’re closer with your line Brothers than anybody else so they have your back whether you right wrong or different you could basically commit murder and be sentenced to life in prison and and say well as my L I got I got regardless regard
There regardless was having someone in front of you and behind you as your front and your back then that means do the person behind you have a front and back just go like that all the way down so basically let’s take my line for example it was line 10 right we have the
Person in the front who was the eight now number one right then you have two and three I’m number three on my line four 5 6 7 8 9 10 and the and and the a person on the front line is known as the ace person on back line is known
As the tail so beginning and the end right I’m the three on my line also know as the track on my line and and then I’m in the middle so then I have so now I have a front and a back the ace has a back door not necessarily a front door
Because he’s the first person on the line the tail has a front door but not a back door because he’s the last one on line you know what I’m saying you just made this seem like I was playing chess oh my goodness I’m trying who’s Queen
Who’s King I’m trying to keep up my God but okay I get it I get it I didn’t know that that’s interesting I didn’t know that I didn’t know that at all wow um what are some of your thoughts about a TV show sority life and how they
Portrayed the real issues of a sority you need a break for this uh fortunately 25 Fellowship Incorporated was not uh on that show but I did watch the uh extended trailer I did not watch the entire show and um I think you know I I I saw the trailers
You know I saw the repercussions that happened to the women that were in the organizations afterwards you know if you don’t know their organizations expelled them for life and I think that you know based on what I did see it was a a right decision in their part you know when you
Wear your letters when you become a member of the organization you’re essentially representing them you know day night especially when you have on your letters your represent you’re representation of the organization so I think one this is my own personal bias but reality shows definitely extort uh
Ex ex you know extort the image of black women in general but I think sorority girls definitely was was a direct effect to tonish black sororities so I haven’t agree with her but at the same time there something that should hav been even in the works
To begin with right because I can’t say the same for the organization involved by know for my organization I’m pretty sure say for swing five swing you can’t do anything like that without get permission from ihq like I’m like my headquarters is in Georgia I’m not sure
What swing F swing headqu located but you can’t do anything like that without getting permission look at Ricky Smiley he has his own TV show his own radio show but in order for him to say anything about Mega Sai how to say mega Sai name on TV on the radio he has get
Permission to do that and and that should have been something that should have been that should actually been ceas assist from the very very beginning and even if the president of these organizations didn’t know about VH1 do your research I mean no offense though but every sh VH1 shows black people in a
Very interesting light right you got a point and that that should even been touched from the get-go now I feel sorry for these ladies losing their letters right but it should have been touched from the GetGo uh what kind of volunteer work do you guys
Do so um I’m actually in the ne Mar graduate chapter and uh currently we are working with an organization called Movable Feast in addition to you know various other community projects but right now we’re focused on working with Movable Feast which is an organization which delivers daily meals to people
With terminal illnesses or are infected with HIV and AIDS so um we help with meal prep we help with any type of marketing or um walks or initiatives that they have okay well my chapter we have um two really really good um Community SE Ventures we have a mentor
Program um it’s headed by um one of my brother Brother Richard Lane from fish university and and um we basically Mentor young men in Howard County from the ages of 10 or up until 17 there’s some in Middle School some in high school and we basically teach them all
Kinds of things to it basically be a better black man um from etiquette to um to attire to how this St in the meeting in a social setting right um and we also me to them as far as like their as far as like their school the school concern
Um a lot of these kids um come from single parent homes mostly and mostly mothers grandmothers and aunts so they don’t have an influence and an accomplished black man in their life so that’s where we come in at and we also have a program called um oh man forgive
Me but uh the name is spp my mind but um we basically um hand out puzzles to a lot of the preschool kids right and show them the way basically how think how think I start the box with puzzles m so that right there is like a really like a
Really really good Venture with that powerful yeah y getting them ready for survivors I know that’s right better win that million dollar all right we’re going to take a break and when we come back I’ll actually um we’re going to break down what divine nine actually means I know
People hear it all the time but a lot of people really don’t know exactly what divine me I love I’m loving you right now miss I’m loving you it feels like I’m back back in new and we’ll be having we’ll be talking more with our guest Reed and Mr Eric
Ashro as we talk about the divine nine and fraternity and sority life and other good organizations that stem from it some more of the sou Chronicles radio show when we come back right here on wpb radio to an all brand new style Chronicles radio show with your host
Sean smack Ma and the de bigger yes your baby it’s a new Chronicle we’re excited tonight it’s called The Divine 9 N and we’re talking about fraternities and the sorority life and other organizations that come along with that um and we have two guests here which they’ve been
Breaking it down for us and telling us a little bit about um the different organizations uh that they are with and different community events that they do miss keer say hello keed hey not the little sisters though and Eric ashr say what’s up Eric hey how you feeling uh feeling good I think
Everybody’s feeling good so once again we’ like to thank them for coming on to the style Chronicles radio show and talking about fraternity sority and organization life so you know Miss Baker so far how you feeling have you have you found out I’m getting my learn on
Tonight honey okay now I’m getting my learn on tonight honey all right so before the break I told you that I’m going to break down what the divine nine actually stands for so this is what it is the divine nine means the National panh helenic Council is a collaborative organization of non
Historically African-American International Greek letter fraternities and sororities the nine nphc organizations are sometimes collectively referred to as the divine nine the members SL partner organizations have not nor formally adopted nor recommended the use of the divine nine term to describe their collaborative grouping the nphc was formed as a permanent
Organization on May 10th 1930 on the campus of whoop whoop Howard University in Washington DC with Matthew W Bullock as the active chairman and B berri Scott as Vice chairman mphc was incorporated under the laws of the state of Illinois in 1937 and currently their headquarters are in decator Georgia down there with
Um Mr Styles the executive producers Mr Styles so there you have it the divine nine that’s what it stands for so um interesting when I when I actually got that fact I was like wow I didn’t know that I didn’t know that at all but interesting all right so we were talking
A little bit about you know what you guys do for the community wise and things um my question is do you I know you say a lot of you work with like youth pretty much how how is it you know seeing them grow and get to the point would you
Actually encourage them to possibly pledge well I would encourage them to basically follow their heart because um they might grow up and might not be for them just because that like like I said before we Mentor a lot of kids does necess mean that they won’t go up to be
Members of organization um P back on to what Sean said about the Divine n um there are five fraternities and there four and the four sorties hence hence nine you have alpha alpha you have cap Alpha Omega SII F Beta Sigma and I Theta and then and and then the sororities are alphaa
Alpha Theta Zeta beta Sim gamar so um yes I would I mean I mean I mean if I mean if you want to be a member of organization that’s great but um I mean I encourage people to I mean well the youth basically just follow their hearts
And go wherever their their heart take them to and and you know what you just you just basically you you’ve been looking at my sheets over here you just did my work for me cuz literally when I say I had that right in front of man had
It right in front of me and I was about to go down to but hey hey you knocked it out the park I I give you that you knocked it out the park right Miss B I’m curious have have have did you ever think about pledging yourself yes okay
All day long why because it I think it’s more so for the bond um I think that the bond is something to have for a lifetime you know and I think that that’s good to have and a lot of times when you hear about um sorties and you know things
Like that you always hear about the connection like the connection speaks out it speaks volumes for years to come that you and it doesn’t matter where you are we can be in Baltimore today and then I can move to LA and I’ll find can find people that’s you know in that same
Sority you know so and and still have that same bond that love and respect like you know it just seems like you know just from what I know and what I hear that um it’s a it’s a great thing to be a part of so is it truly a Brotherhood and a
Sisterhood let me let me ask that cuz I know that that you do I mean for instance like you know sorority life but then at the same time on the other end you do have those times where it’s kind of shaky and you know you may have the
Arguments you may have the vicker and you may have the fight but regardless of all that is it is that that Brotherhood and that Sisterhood is it still there absolutely I it just like you explained it we’re family you know sisters so and some of y’all closer than family
Absolutely you got that right I I’ll call my L sisters before I call you know some people in my family because there are things that I experience with my L sisters and other members of the organization that I probably will never experience with any of my family members
So I think it’s very important to distinguish the fact that one we are women and men um two you know we all have our we different backgrounds and you know upbringings that we come from but at the end of the day I think there’s one common bond that brings us together and
It’s either the mission of the organization or you know the foundation that the organ organization is set upon so we fight like sisters we love like sisters and and that’s all that matters I mean the fact that you come back together and you’re able to work through your
Differences and problems what about you Eric I mean to pick it back what ke said like I mean is I mean it’s definitely a definitely a brotherhood like I mean in my family like everybody has brother and sisters like like my blood every brother and sisters and the bond between a
Brother and sister is is really un it’s undeniable and Indescribable because like um I mean like I mean like my mama can tell I mean I mean okay I’m sorry she tell anything to her sister that she can tell me or her actual mother right and it’s the same way in fraternity Sor
Like I go LS about anything I tell them more stuff that I tell my friends my cousins or whatever right and like a real family right you going to fight physically emotionally mentally you’re going to fight right but then tomorrow you going to call each other back up and
Get back together right and call a day and that’s what a Brotherhood and a Sisterhood is all about so how does the the bond I guess is formed meaning if you guys are everybody on your line is pretty much pling at the same time correct so everybody on your line is
Pleas at the same time no one knows any anybody they don’t know enough about the organization to just already set that I guess that Bond how does the bond end up connecting is it more so because of the leadership that’s there to get everybody on the same Accord because if you coming
From all different walks of life to get everybody on the same Accord that hasn’t been in the organization previously how does I guess how does that happen I think that’s what makes the bond stronger it’s those different experiences coming together to meld into a process that you go through to become
A member of an organization you know there are certain experiences and things that happen when you you know learn the the rules and the foundations upon what the organization is set upon so you share that Bond you share that experience and in some in some situations you share you know a lot of
Time together so a closeness is built a bond is built and um I think and then how how long does it take for someone to pledge to actually or you know question become a member it depends on the chapter and depends on the organization um
Uh like that um like it could be from weeks to months to almost to almost a year so it really so it really honestly depends on what part of the world you’re in whether you’re in America you’re in Europe you’re in South America whatever it really depends on where you’re at so
There so there’s no really no no set answer to that question cuz it vares from place to place to place okay how um as far as like Community wise I know that with this being black history month and I mean I know a lot lot of communities now are starting to do black
History programs or something do you guys actually reach out and do a lot of events or things within the African-American community and how what is the reaction from from the community for the events that you guys do or participate in well on a a national level swing F swing social Fellowship
Incorporated is partnering with the Selma Alabama March it’s the 50th anniversary of the march from you know know Montgomery to Selma very famous March if you never heard of it research it it’s definitely based on the movie that just um was in theaters and we’re going down there we’re Marching for
Three days with some members of our organization that are down either in the South or in the West Coast or wherever you know you want to volunteer your time so I think that’s this year is how we’re making our impact during our season of action so we do a season of action from
The month of March to September okay oh wow okay and as far as um Omega SII we have um National mandated programs that every chapter in Omega 5 must do um one um one event called a talent hunt it’s basic it’s basically like a really really big local talent show um um the
Brothers put together the show and um Talent from as a b city um the chapter B City they’ll Bas put together a big talent show right makes it and like um you from like all over B City can come and take part in this and actually win a
Lot of money and then once you win the local talent show you B go on to the national talent show and against people from all over the whole entire world right and um if you win there you actually want a lot of money towards scholarship and then we also have a um a
Program for a blood drive um every um like um every chapter does andal blood drive right especially foreally for Community they do a I mean they donate I’m sorry we donate I’m sorry we receive a whole lot of um people to come in and donate blood right
Cuz like there shows on blood now right so every year like around May or June that that’s BR every chapter in in the whole world does every do that y okay oh wow okay let me ask you this can someone that’s not in college one join is the first part and then the
Second part is if someone’s older that may have did not go to college or dropped out of college or you know that’s going back to college and they’re a lot older than I guess you know that age group are they would they be allowed or you know afforded an opportunity um
Either way you um like if you’re on college campus and you um meet the requirements for membership you can definitely do it as long as you an active student even if you graduate see see and like that’s like good thing about aferican forain sorties is there there’s life beyond College like that’s
Good to know yes because I graduated in9 and I Jo mization in fall 2012 right so um you can join after you graduate you have a legitimate degree but um you will basically need to um either have a degree or in school getting a degree to be able to join any
Organization and also there has to be a an an esta organization on on your campus so somebody can already have graduated from college and bring the degree to you guys and they’ll be able to join they will still I mean they still I mean they still have to apply
And go through the process of becoming a member right but definitely yes okay so go ahead go ahead I was say same thing with swing you know even if you I’mma pause you real real quick sorry about that we have a caller okay okay wpb radio to style Chronicles radio show you’re on
Air hello WP radio okay well hopefully the person calls back all right go go ahead Kea so yeah basically same thing with um very similar when there is Life After College you know predominantly white institutions traditionally they go through a rush and they go through a process of joining their organizations
And that’s where it stops that’s where it ends but you know the good thing about historically black um organizations and colleges is that you know there’s grad chapters there are alumni chapters there’s advisory boards there’s um Regional and you know local chapters they can all join so you know
Even if you for in swing instance if you don’t have a a degree but you are a working professional you can join a graduate chapter okay ke let’s try this one more time let’s see that wpb radio you’re on air caller okay you try see wpb radio take your phone off mute right
Right right maybe they got their phone on mute all right Callie you’re on a can you hear us okay sound like we there for a second yeah they was there for a second um you know more than you’re more than welcome to call A8 45574 so um call back definitely
Definitely so you said that you are I missed that last point with the call coming in oh if you’re working professional so if you did not attend school but if say for instance you graduated high school you got a great government job that you’ve been in you
Know at least two three years you’re established you know you’ve done some community service work in in the the community you want to give back and you think that swing is a great fit for you you know definitely reach out and uh we’ll hit you up oh that’s nice
Your line people will be all different ages then absolutely yeah yeah so it’s not typically just everyone I guess the freshman’s in college or something like that no no um on the grad level um my line is is um including me is 10 and the other person on my line he’s now 53
Right so um there people I mean I mean My Line brothers are from all walks life I have a Lon brother who’s the top DEA agent in Baltimore City i a l brother who is an excellent realtor I have a l brother who owns McDonald’s and the
Wendy’s oh wow yeah so um all my L Brothers they are doing something professionally in all walks of life so yeah well y’all giving me hope you still got it you still can’t do it yeah you can I think if it’s a passion of yours if it’s a goal of yours definitely get
Out work with the I got to see the requirement I don’t have a government job but I’m an entrepreneur I mean I mean I got a lot of community service I can show you yeah I mean yeah CU I mean yeah okay I’m going to get I’m going to
Get to nitty-gritty cuz like when when I told a couple people that were doing this and then people hitting us on Facebook and this was a question that somebody want to ask um why why does it cost so much to actually pledge oh yeah
Because it it is it is it is a cost and I know I’m putting you on the spot I didn’t I didn’t know yes yes yes it cost more than time I mean I can see a small registration fee oh or like thousands of dollars well she breathed heavy so that’s
Answer you know it’s a it’s a very honest answer and a lot of people don’t get to see the price or you know that sticker price before they become members they get to see it once they’ve submitted application and they’ been accepted and they say oh got to figure
Out how I’m going to raise this money but um as a national officer in swing F swing I can honestly say and I hope you know my board and my executive officers don’t ding me for this that you know becoming a member of an organization that is financially responsible for the intake of
Individuals you have to make sure that as an organization you are covered through insurance policies and that you’re not liable for someone who may necessarily come through the organization and say well you know um I didn’t like the way that I was treated online or I don’t necessarily I think
You know swing has stole my money I’m assume you for you know x amount of dollars to get my money back so I think as a you know Financial precaution there is a sticker price for intake and also um I’m not sure about the the Greek organizations but swing is a nonprofit
Organization so we constantly have money revolving and moving through the organization okay so to host you know our national Convention our regional meetings things of that nature so normally the price come after you right before you actually become a member right that the that money portions that that last piece and then
Once you do that that kind of certifies you to get in that starts the process yes yes don’t look scared now over you you dropped the headphones and back up now as far as organization concerned you basically um have your membership fee you have dues and you have the um
The dudes that goes to your ihq which is your national headquarters whereever whichever organ you a part of you have a national headquarters and um the money like the lump sum goes towards your chapter du that means that that means for that means for whatever chapter
You’re in in your city you have dues for that particular chapter and then you have money goes towards ihq right so and then and then there’s a membership fee to actually um to tie that all together is that a yearly fee well it depends um I know with some organizations like once
You um go over your active off Financial for a good 2 4 years so it really also depends on what organization that you’re with and being financial means that um you’re basically um basically in good standards MoneyWise with your organization basically pause real quick Eric we got a caller all right let’s try
This again wpb radio caller you here wpb radio oh turn your radio yeah turn turn can you turn can you do me a favor can you turn your radio down in the back can can you hear us hello hello okay so she hears us but we can’t
I mean we hear each other but she can’t really hear us all right well ER can can you hear us now all right say it again I say can you hear us now like a slight pause okay yeah it’s a slight pause um okay we’re going we’re
Going to continue so hopefully you can get give us a call back um okay so sorry about that I know it’s kind of kind of tricky you know playing games playing back and forth here okay so so um basically we talked about you know you got to you got to pay
Pay some which I think is good you know you always have to give back to I think the organizations you know that that’s your but even still when no matter what you do when it comes to people putting up their money they’re serious you know that that’s going to wean out people
That’s playing games already you know so if someone’s going to make that Financial commitment they’re normally committed to it I think that um you know that’s good that’s good all all right so we’re going to take a break and then when we come back we get more into talks
About the fraternities and sorority life and other organizations that are involved with the Divine n and the other organizations that are not a part of the Divine n ke ke should give me that grand like I I do want to say one thing I give y’all credit because y’all roll with it
When y’all say say the names of the organization or the fraternity of sorority like y’all like roll with it and it’s like I be trying to spit it out like here like trying to not trying to mess anybody’s thing up let me not let me not murder
This and how to get away with not pronouncing it your Greek so I got to give yall credit like is that is that is that a lot to to kind of go through is that like do you go through all that during the actual uh pledging process of trying to spit it
Out and not like mess up or anything like that he laughs he laugh things you got to learn as I made sure I knew what swing five swing social Fellowship Incorporated stand for I knew how to say it I know how to say it backwards and
Forwards I I knew the date I knew our found us so you know you got to be prepared yeah I definitely agree and I have a really really bad stutter so I’m so I’m assuming you can imagine how bad it was for me oh wow I didn’t even think
I didn’t even think about that yeah but but you’re doing good tonight you’re doing good tonight to a degree all right well more style Chronicles when we come back from the break I have never say so convey my message that it’s an investment I can’t
Hear from my laptop oh that and I was going to say prob not she can’t call from her phone I love this song call from what are you calling from oh so it becomes real as you go through the process this I need some real answers because no I
Really like always wanted to pledge and I went to a community college and then I was supposed to move to Atlanta cuz the only person that really had what I wanted to make double majoring but now I may be going back to college again and I’m like I’m probably going to be old
And mean service don’t you are fine I just saw a lady online 65 years old yeah so that just the other brother in my that pledge was 78 they went into Pledge yes yeah go so because and then also I saw that you know you got to be on campus for
That blackout period and you know you know all of that not I mean and I’m pretty suree with this just basically do your research every you know you want to be you mean you obviously say you express interest you know what you want to do right so I think it’s best to
Connect with d chap in Baltimore go out to community Ser make sure they take see you yeah that’s a big that’s they see you because like you can say oh I remember all I’m going to be this I’m going be that you saying it though but show the actions though right cuz
Anybody can say about your BS start going to events and then express interest well by going to the events usually they already know you’re expressing interest it’s your host Sean Mac the smack along with Daniel Baker see there you go there you go I can lead you in
Right I can lead you man I can’t hit that not I F like we got our own little not tonight anyway little little organization going on okay we got it now even though I can’t get I can get the high I ain’t going to do it on here
I all right tonight our icle is entitled the divine nine we’re talking about fraternities and sorority life um and other organizations that um stem from off of fraternities and sororities um we’ve had a couple people that tried to call us um so sorry I know we we’re
Working on that so um but you know try again please please please um we still love you from the chical from the bottom of our chronical Hearts but our guest tonight um in studio we have Miss kha Reed and Eric ashop how are you guys doing again doing good that’s good
That’s good all right Miss Baker Miss Baker um like you about toy no actually um I was going to pck you back on a couple questions before you go to a different um Direction one of the questions I had was how can someone get put out of an organization good
One so um an organization just like any job any type of membership any type of family if you do anything that disrespects the organization degrades the organization mocks the organization you can be put for grounds of renewal I know swing has a a judicial process that
We go through um that reviews all types of U complaints concerns you know things that PA you real real quick okay sorry sorry sorry let’s try let’s try this again okay let’s see if this works okay we got a call a call a in all right computer that’s the problem
You see we allowing computers to oh man go ahead all right Kea go ahead go ahead um so yeah you know there’s aie a review process that takes into effect but if I mean for example if you were to kill someone with your letters on you
Can be expelled you can also be put in jail but if you were to um do something that would reveal any type of Insider Secrets any type of you know things that are proprietary to the organization just like if you were to sell stocks when you knew that your company was going under
You know it’s very similar to that if you were to Haze you know hazing is a really big part of unfortunately a big part of organizational culture so if you were caught hazing you know you can be fined you can be expelled you can also be arrested for that cuz in many states
It’s against the law they go gu like get together in the board and you got to like go see for the people or whoever is your chapter leader or something I think you know very similar to the chain of command if you PA real quick wpb radio wpb
Radio all right I see we still having we’re still having phone difficulties okay sorry I’m sorry I’m so sorry about that ke so sorry about that it’s okay so yeah just you know you have a chain of command to go through which then you know for swing we’re governed
By a board of directors and then from that point on you know it’s taken from you know Tak it in to that direction well with Omega um is when okay like with any organization There are rules and regulations that you have to abide
By to I mean I mean to be a member of this organization and if you break one of those rules it’s kind of like a ladder that you have to go up to depending on the infraction you have to deal with your chapter first then you have to deal with
Um um the um the legal issues with your will with the state that in so my CH is in how County and um then from there go to basically the state of Maryland The Bard state of Maryland then from there go to the head and and the isq right so
There’s like a ladder that you go up to and um that’s just within your chapter now if this to the point to where as though you have to get lawyers and the legal system involved right then not only not only deal with your organization but also the legal system
As well because like you break a law like a law that’s governed by in USA right not only with your chapter and your organization but the law in itself right so so welli there’s like Steps going up a ladder that you got deal with if you basically break a rule basically
Got it I I got it y’all putting it all together for us tell us a little bit because both of y’all mentioned um with your organizations it’s kind of like contined life after um college so what does that include like what happens differently or what is continued on um that doesn’t
Stop once you leave College well if you become a member of organization like um a organization or a social Fellowship right um You have life in college and mostly is half of it is business and the other half of it is having fun um being a member of this organization social
Life social life right I mean you come in as a regular old person and then once you go over organization there’s like I mean there’s like a social life like like it’s like has expanded like like every five minutes you’re doing something like every weekend oh you got a road Tri to
Go to you got a party to attend to you got to do a step show whatever right and and then the other half is is the business community service Ser man serving your school oration I’m pause you real quick Eric sorry about that all right good here we got a call coming
Through sorry about that computers being my friend today I think I think computer we going have a Chronicle called computers all right go go ahead if it calls again then all right so that’s your under years while you’re in college and then once you graduate it’s more on
Business than it is social don’t get me wrong okay I keep pausing you sorry hey we’re trying to work on the phone lines here all right let’s try this now see wpb radio okay you’re on keep keep talking so once you graduate and you become come
Um involved with the alumni or the grad level it’s more business than it is social don’t get me wrong like you have I mean you’ll still be you’ll still be a social like s of speed you’ll still have a life like go like go the events or the
Step shows or what have you but it’s more on the business side like with my chapter it’s more on the business side than it is um basically being right and you’re more of a Omega Man now cuz every know cues but once you graduate and you you start getting older
More in your community you become what called an Omega Man right got it and I think I think for you know speaking with swing it’s very similar but you know if you definitely become a member in the undergraduate you know sector your graduate life is very different because
You know you’re embracing and you know merging your organization into your personal professional life so while there is that definitely that social aspect that expands there’s also the professional aspect that expands and you know like you said you’re not traveling every weekend like you were an undergrad you know you’re traveling to chapter
Meetings you’re traveling to Regional meetings you you’re preparing for your National Convention that happen you know for swing happens once a year so you know it it becomes less of the social aspect and more of the professional aspect I agree and then this is after you leave College this is after you
Leave college but you know if you do join you know in the profession sector it’s not all business you know I think it’s it’s it’s very similar to I I like to I like to think of it as when you become a graduate member you pledge you become a sister you get all
Of the the benefits in the perks of being a sister I think you know swing F swing is a social Fellowship so we have that social and that business aspect in it you know we party hard we work hard I agree I agree there’s nothing lost on becoming a graduate m
Yeah now my question is when it comes to the female side of the the sority life and then you have the fraternity side is there any type of competition that happens here where it’s kind of like okay the guys do it better than the girls or the girls do it better than the
Guys and I guess the same thing with you Kesha for you know um your organization is it is it ever a competition being like you know mine is better than yours or something like that do you ever do you ever go through that where the guys do a little bit better
Than the female in the F the females do a little bit better than the guys well that’s life I mean true true that’s life I mean even if you take the aspect of fraternity your sorority out out the mix they will all be comption between men
And women right but I think that in the Greek World fraternity sity world is mostly competition amongst like fraternities versus fraternities sity versus frat I’m sorry fraternity versus I’m sorry fraternity versus fraternity and sority versus sorority okay right right that’s where the that’s where most well if not all of competition lies at
Okay now is step like one of the biggest like as far as like competitions that you guys do or are there other events that actually you know well I think stepp stepping stepping is a is a very integral part of the African-American Community afrian culture CU stepping definitely comes from Africa don’t let
Anybody else tell you that it doesn’t exactly and um you know I think stepping has been a way that we communicate how we feel how we express ourselves how we’re feeling in the moment so I mean for I think I can speak for all of you know black organizations
That do participate in that activity that is very important definitely and you don’t have to step though I know some people that can’t step but I’m still certain somebody going to show me a move tonight or I can’t learn a move please show her a move somebody please show her a move
Even do you got the right shoes T night even I I can take I can take it off even even if I was about to say you know don’t don’t don’t don’t break a heel don’t be coming I take it off I want to learn to
Step no you better do it in heel even if it’s like against the organization to show a step then just another step just something show me something she’s she’s excited she’s like 12 she’s like 12 all over just show I’m like in a candy store just show me something hold on we
Got a call hold on real quick let’s see let’s see if we can do this see if it working here hold on wpb radio you there wpb radio okay well we’re trying we’re having phone issues tonight that’s crazy like that’s absolutely crazy tell us about your um best
Experience that or most memorable uh with your organization and then we also want to know your your least if if you are able to say and don’t hold back you got to say that now don’t hold back give it you got to give it to us straight all right we gonna start with
Eric this time let start with cuz kha over here like oh my God she a major thought if you if you watching on the website her right now she just froze she just froze okay um the most memorable will have to be couple months ago um um I was
Awarded the Superior Service award for my chapter is basically acknowledging all my um achievements my um basically everything I da done for my chap and Omega Sai as a whole and I was awarded that at our Founders Day branch that took place this past November congratulations thank you thank
You um thank you thank thank you um and like I see the plaque and and I’m I mean I’m somebody who like to be behind the scenes so for them to put me out there in front of everybody to receive this award I was like okay and then they want
Me to say something I’m like okay don’t want to say anything yall know how my mouth is I don’t say anything right but that I mean that was my remember moment thus far and was was my least rememberable moment um with like like what K said in the
Very beginning um um every organization had different people from all walks of life you have good people and you have ignorant people you have nice people you have a-holes so to speak and um for some reason I just I I just attract all the a-holes and the ignorant people to me so
The past two years that I’ve been a member of my organization um for some reason I’ve just been I mean I’ve just I I just met some interesting people so to speak and um I basically had to govern myself in accordance to Omega SciFi I
Had go I had to Accord what I to got myself um for our for principal which is man scholarship PR uplift and Bic just smile and walk away but in my mind I’m like go to hell and yeah that’s just me but yeah so yeah that’s just me I’m
Pretty sure I’m pretty sure you actually do with it cuz I know as as guys you get very competitive very very competitive little true well I mean as far as as far as me go like um like I pledge the gr chapter and um I look like I’m still in
My early 20s not in my late 20s so um a lot of people they come in thinking that oh I’m just a little boy but when they talk to me and they know I got mouth on me and I have a little bit of a AO side
Of me right it’s a whole different story it’s a whole different story okay what you got kha so if I had to say what my most positive my best experience my most memorable would probably be the day I became a member of the organ ganization wow and you know it’s there’s there’s
Moments and I’m pretty sure he can attest to it there’s moments in in the process when you’re becoming a member where you think um what am I doing here what’s going on what am I doing am I am I supposed to be here is this is this my purpose this is
Where I’m supposed to be and there have been plenty of people who have gone through the process that become members of you know organizations that realize it’s just not for them any organization so I think you know the day that you know I was officially a member of5 social Fellowship incorporate was
Probably one of my most memorable day memorable days and uh one that you know my least memorable experience would probably be God I had a great answer for this in my head it just went out but uh I think somebody got on your nerves it happens you know you deal like he said
You deal with different you know personalities and people coming from different backgrounds and I think you know although I may have had situations where I you know popped off you know my my line name is loose canon so you know say something slick or you just
Completely ignore I love it I love it I love it that’s new name for you for the rest of show she you got tell us yours too um you know come on we can make up one for the next 20 minutes yeah we going get one I
Just I think that you know learning and growing from that experience definitely made me a better woman so I mean I’m pretty sure I have hundreds of stories I can say where I popped off wasn’t humbled you know just completely just did not do right but you know I’m here
Today to say you know I’m sorry and you know wow I got one for you Miss Miss Baker I’m going call you stump and pump STP and pump yeah cuz you want them to teach you a step so you got to stomp with pumps Stomp and pump that’s a good
One well you know he said that’s when country St right you say my name like Danielle well excuse me I don’t have the Baltimore Twain i b no okay so what’s your name going to be I don’t know I’ll definitely come up with one um you going to share yours Eric smack is
Out smack is out well my line name um is Samson um I us have really really long hair than my back and my chapter is one of the oldest chapters in Maryland and um they’re very very very conserved very very old school so when I was online and they saw my
Hair they was like what the hell like and and when they cut my hair now they cut my hair for me oh so they did it yes they they cut my hair for me right and when they and when they cut my hair they
Wait a minute I swear if Kea Kea is just I didn’t say nothing your facial expression is this the first time I heard that that’s but is that is that against your weal uh no no because like I mean because like this part of basically the process right every has a
Process right and basically is one thing they omegi hoes deer right and um so they um cut my hair and when they cut my hair they said that my whole demeanor my whole personality changed kind of like Samson DEA did so when cut cut T’s hair
Right there you go wow yeah I’ve heard about that I’ve heard about that as well too that they will actually you know they they’ll cut your head and do other stuff or something like that let’s get into that let’s get into that because I know some people I don’t know if they
Can really sh share the process like well not necessarily the process but I’m just I don’t NE want to go into details let’s not say details I heard a lot of people get beat up though yeah SW social Incorporated is a nonh organization inated okay well there we go Miss B we
Tried I F I felt like we was on a view for a second we tried to squeeze it out but it was just like that’s not going to happen that’s not going to happen all right so we come back we going to um wrap this up ask a couple of last last

Right most style Chronicles when we come back new style Chronicles radio show this tonight has been a exciting night talking about the divine nine the fraternity and sorority life and um other organizations outside of the divine nine um we’ve actually had a third guest and she’s actually joining
Us for the last remaining part of the show Tama Frank are you with us I am here yes the phones are working hi Tama hi hi everybody so T Des I know I know we so were we so sorry to everybody else out there that was trying to um get in we
Were having phone te technical difficulties but we’re back together now we’re back back on the same one I understand that’s okay not your fault exactly so T tell us a little bit about yourself what organization you with sure I’d love to I am in the Divine I am a member
Of Incorporated um I was founded on campus of Howard University um January 13th 19th 13 and I have been a member of Delta for 20 years wow y spring 1994 um undergrad uh so it’s you know I’ve been in in the sority for quite some time okay so my question to you is
Seeing that you’ve been with it for a long period of time you can probably definitely testify more so on what’s the like what do you get out of it in long term term right um well there was a couple things I guess I kind of start from I mean it’s
A process because I I joined in undergrad so um for me as far as starting so long ago in undergrad um of course during those years it was it was definitely beneficial because um you know there there was a lot of different doors that were open up for you as you
Know being in an undergraduate chapter um you know representing your campus all of those things but I would say later on in life is where I really um began to see the benefit of being in a um in a sorority and I will tell you that I have
Lived in the state of North Carolina I moved to Colorado and I moved to Maryland in all my travels um every time I went to another city I’ve always been able to connect with another Delta who’s been able to help me along my um from finding me somewhere to live
From giving me furniture from you know just looking out for me helping me with my kids it is a uh it’s a family um and it’s not just in the chapter that you join in you can go anywhere worldwide and you can find AA that is going to
Show you love um so that is that is the greatest thing and you know when you sit back and think about it it is something that will make you cry because I can tell you that when I moved to Baltimore I left my husband husband um and I left
Colorado to Baltimore I had nothing I had no nothing but my sons clothes I didn’t have any furniture and a SORA reached out to me gave me a place to say and she gave all my furniture wow so um it is definitely um a family do not just
You join it in undergrad just because you think it’s cool um there there’s a lot that comes from it um you know gotten jobs you know I’ve gotten you know I’ve got new s that will you know give me church homes church family you
Know the go to I mean it’s it’s it’s so much uh there’s so much that you can get out of joining uh a sority or attor um it’s not we don’t just step we’re not just we’re not just here a party we we service our communi and we love our sisters and brothers
Wow wow yeah I mean and you know that’s interesting because a lot of people that’s the first thing that you know when I mentioned the show to people and then I also hear people talk about you know joining a fraternity of sorority or another organization where you’re able
To unite with other people that may be in different walks of life than you may possibly be what’s that like how long do you actually you know still remain friends with the people and what’s the benefit that you get out of it and just the fact that you you know you’ve even
You know attest to that that after all all you’ve experienced you’re still able to you know definitely lean on that that sister you know everyone can see you know us stuffing everyone can see us out the community giving back to the community you can see all of that but
You don’t see the genuine love you don’t see that unless you are in one of these fraternities prorities that’s something you don’t see you don’t know what goes on behind the scenes and when we say we love our SS and we love our we really we mean it it is not a
Game wow what is um being as though that you have been in it for 20 years what is something that you would tell I guess a younger um you know one that’s pledging or already head cross like what is something that you could tell them to keep them encourag 20 years later you
Can look forward to you know X Y and Z uh to keep them encouraged um I would probably say uh I mean you know as far as like say they join you know later you know early in life they’re not going to see the longterm benefit you know like it’s an
Undergrad you’re not going to see that you know maybe 15 20 years down the line there could be a professional Delta who may have her master’s degree or her doctorate degree and she might be that networking tool that going to get you in that door because you’re a Delta just
Just on the strength of you being a Delta she might put a word out for you and get you that job that you need um so I I would say that that’s one thing that uh that they really you really have to think about because like people don’t
Don’t realize that you pledge in one city but you may end up St you another country and you might find that one Delta that is going to put you where you need to be you know Delta is not just in the US you know we in Germany we in
Korea we in Jamaica we in the Bahamas we in Barbados we’re everywhere so you don’t know you know you don’t realize that so those are you know things that they need to remember you know to uh you once you become a s that there’s always
Going to be a j looking out for you um and and just one thing you need to realize and one thing I try to that that we do need to tell our young people I don’t know if you know these um the panelist from already said this but I
Noticed that with the younger generation um they’re not very sisterly and they’re not very brotherly and I don’t like it and there’s one thing that um I’m seeing that we’re kind of I don’t know why falling you know we’re coming away from that and and that’s not a good
Thing um and and that’s something that we need to um we need to work on that yeah that’s so we haven’t actually covered that but if I um G want to speak on that yeah anyway um yeah um I’m sorry so basically she was saying that you know with the this
Generation that they’re not as sisterly or brotherly and she doesn’t really like that do y’all find that within your organizations as well with the younger generation that you know the bond may be not as strong and and that’s a good question for you guys because seeing
That you know T’s been doing this for pretty like in in the organization for like 20 years years how long y’all been in two years two eight oh okay so that’s that really good I mean you’re still under 10 was school so to me can tell that she coming for
You so what what would y’ what would y’all say to that though well I know you two years so you still kind of within that generation then um I definitely honestly definitely agree um not even um people who are not in college but even on a college campus like everybody’s
Basically out forsel not worried about up the community not worri about being their brothers Keepers basically just me and I and that’s not the way I mean I mean to a degree I understand it right but at the same time you should be it should be somebody to to help your
Brother or sister need help okay K’s been in eight years what do you think I think that the person that I was eight years is totally different from the person that I am now and I think that one of the things that we need to think about when we’re you know bringing
Younger members into the organization is thinking about where they are at that point in their lives because it’s very easy to look back and say oh well they’re doing X Y and Z and you know when I was you know 22 21 I didn’t do this but I I think that you
Know identifying with them and you know getting on the same level that they’re on you know could probably move mountains but I do agree that you know the image of women has probably been distorted to the point where this their self-awareness and their self-esteem has been dramatically affected so I think
It’s very important for you know you know our organizations to kind of step out there and be that bridge right to you know facilitate that conversation and and I just want to give and I definitely want to I want to give one um shout out um we did have a one of our
Fans actually call in and he wanted to actually discuss uh uh the brotherhoods that we actually have he’s amazing um and you know and you know I will definitely I’m open to to anyone who is interested in getting more information about Dela or um you know or any
Information about the Divine line that I can help you with um you know I don’t represent all the sorties and certainties but you know I can you maybe FL in the right direction you know and give you some information okay um what about you kha um Swing Swing is online
At swing s.org uh you can find us on Facebook swing F swing Instagram swing F swing Twitter swing F swing so anywhere that you know you need to find us you can find us by that moniker um I would definitely recommend using our contact us page and getting in touch with our
Regional director and um kind of expressing interest that way CU it’s a lot easier to you know get in touch okay um you could basically go online um omega5 fraternity uh.org it’s our official um website you can learn about the whole entire history Omega sci-fi there the
Chapters in your local area um I’m not on Facebook I’m on Instagram at TTD 1911 so if you have any questions conical always mes me um and go from there okay um just one I got one final question before we get into our chronical message for the evening is it is it more
Difficult to pledge undergrad than it is to pledge once you’re done with like you’re you’re kind of like older and you like like Miss Baker said she wants the pro she’s thinking about possibly doing it been thinking about oh you’ve been thinking about it is is it is it easier
Kind of like wait until later on down the road maybe once you mature and mature as a person or is it kind of like more difficult when you’re undergrad um I can say this having um going through a gr process it’s both because um the values the process
Basically has never changed um the only difference is in undergrad you’re dealing with your peers so if you’re a sophomore say AG me 18 19 you’re dealing with people around your age group whereas though gr you’re dealing with grown men men who have been Organization for up so many years and they basically
Like I mean think of your father right and if you come in there basically like I’m a grown man you’re a grown man too that’s not I mean that’s not a good way to be though but um that’s that be my only difference with going grad and
Going undergrad okay so what about you I would say um initially I thought it was um a grand after but you know as I reflect on my process I would say that undergrad is probably a lot tougher and the reason I say that is a couple of
Things you have to think about keeping your grades up number one and while you’re online or you know whatever going through whatever process you’re going through you have to keep those grades up that’s number one and um if if those fall you will not only are you going to
Be dropped offline but you may you run the risk of being kicked out of school and everyone knows that you know you get on academic probation and you’re out of there so you know it’s very it’s very tough because you have to you know you got to be able to juggle those things
And as a young person it’s hard to it’s hard to figure out how to juggle those things when you get older um you kind of you you know how to jugle those things you know how to put things into perspective um and then when you are in
The grad chapter um people are a little more mature when they are pledging you um you know things is done a different way so um I would say in my opinion I would say gr is probably just a little bit tougher in it it’s definitely a little more mentally
Challenging okay um ke should take us home real quick both definitely you’re in two different stages of your life when you’re an undergrad and in grad so just depending on where you are okay so Miss Baker you still got it I I I’m I’m rooting for you I I will come I will
Come and I will give you some hot water for your feet I bring some colia all that some brown rice and that’s your that’s your line name yeah you know you’re a mess you’re a mess oh my goodness I thank you we thank you so much for coming on the style
