G and it’s also on the um on the screen so please join us next Sunday as we celebrate pastor’s birthday with cake after the 8 A.M service thank you for your time have a blessed day and enjoy the service Amen Pastor Armstrong shall be with us any moment now but uh sister Deaconess latu bonap poar uh asked that she be in the program for moment to thank the church for for um all the love and support shown to her in the passing of Deacon bonapart so I’m going to take a
Mic down to her and let her thank the church I think she’s out there morning sh I’m standing chur and many thanks to answer I don’t know where pass what the name my son to speak I’m to say he born a child born my son put on the
Phone I gave so much tough love I have not seen my son in five years I refused to I saw him when was sing when I walk in cour he was at time I was angry I took his sick father I just passed in the courtroom or very I said many many
Thanks to you you well for me did so much I’ve been in his church from the time I came from Africa 1982 and I’m married in this church and I’m still here I know where to go this is my home now very where are you this
Morning good to see you the case in Africa they saw the fire on the video my family yeah I’m not well I decid to to church this morning that they he my voice thank you than so welcome so welcome so welcome amen amen when she said Reverend
Where are you I had hearken back to my fifth grade principal here I am ma’am we thank God for Deaconess latu and for her um Spirit of Thanksgiving and gratitude it it is a blessing in anytime we can serve any family in our church uh particularly at moments such as those transitions anniversaries
Celebrations um and particularly around death and so whatever we can do if it’s humanly possible we will certainly consider it um and small things like receiving a phone call to make sure that Deacon Ben and Deacon latu son could be in the service is a small thing but it
Goes a long way for what latu and her family wanted to be have be a part of that service and so you’re very welcome Deacon latu and um as I said then and I say now we celebrate the cultural diversity of our congregation with our brothers and sisters particularly from
Africa East Northwest South Central as well as the Caribbean islands um as part of this worship body and experience and I really really to push hard that we understand as people of African descent we embrace all aspects of our culture amen um African African Caribbean africanamerican you name it and so we
Bless the Lord today for a blessed opportunity to worship couple of quick things before we move into our moment of prayer um I am excited about um November because it’s the day the the month of gratitude and so we want to say thank you to a number of folk number one we
Want to say thanks be to God for our um veterans and so next Sunday the 12th of November if the Lord says the same uh we want to honor our veterans I’m going to ask all veterans to please stand if you’re here whatever branch of service in which you serve would you please
Stand so we can just thank you a couple of times today and next Sunday amen come on y’all put your hands together we can sleep at night because some of them were on the battlefield amen and so next Sunday we’re having a veterans appreciation service for Veterans Day an honor Veterans Day
Veterans day is the 11th um which is a Saturday and I always like to say when I was growing up my birthday is on Armistice Day and they said what is Armistice Day I said well I don’t know either but someone told me it’s Armistice Day uh Veterans Day Day
November the 11th and because of the celebration um it will be uh recognized on that uh next Monday and so we’re going to take our moment in Shiloh to do what we’ve been doing for the ma past several decades which is to say thank you to our veterans um and our very own
Colonel Walter R null Will Be Our Guest um speaker for that day uh faithful member is shlo former um acting Deputy Commissioner for Department de deala as we call the Department of military and Veteran Affairs and so um we want to certainly thank God for his leadership
And we’re going to invite brother Ley Austin who is the Commander for the merca County VFW there are five of them in Mera County and as you hear me say um of the five Trenton is the only one that doesn’t have a physical location um Hamilton Lawrence you named
The other ones physical locations buildings we’re the only one and that to me that’s my personal opinion serves as a disadvantage for black and brown veterans who live in Trenton cuz they have to go further to get the services that they need and so we want to see a
Veterans VFW here in Trenton right and so we’re going to collect a a special love offering next Sunday to help defay um help go towards the cost of a VFW and to support the work of ly Austin and the VFW and the veterans in our city my own
Returned like many of your family members returned from Vietnam a different person he was not the same thewi Armstrong who went to Vietnam who came back from Vietnam and he needed services in South Central LA and we didn’t have the kind of access to services that Hollywood veterans had or
Santa Monica veterans had or San Pedro veterans had and so this is personal for me um but it’s also personal for all of us cuzz all of us know somebody who needs these Services all right and so thank you for um supporting that we also have a very special event um close to
Thanksgiving a coat drive that is being sponsored by our missions and evangelism Ministry our very own trustee Caroline McMahon and all the missionary Caroline you’re here um stand up to the Caroline Caroline is over to my right your left if you yep give her a hand encouragement if you
Have some gently used everybody say gently and look at your neighbor and say neighbor you know what gently means don’t you if you don’t want to receive it don’t give it that’s what gently means you have a gently used coat that you can donate cuz it’s getting colder and we
Also if you’re inclined to buy some new coats go see Caroline let her know you can sign up you can ship them to her you can drop them off whatever you need to do sister Caroline will make sure that they are received and that they are we are disseminating them to where they
Need to go all right so thanks be to God brother Clarence you in the house par um we need uh brother Harry in the house brother Harry can you go downstairs and check with the um ladies downstairs for our fellowship sister Karen um we are having our post service Fellowship
Moment hour uh between time of 9:30 and um and 10:30 and it reminds me how many you appreciate the extra hour of sleep you got last night anybody daylight savings time so we we’re going to do our post service Fellowship hour and this is something we’re doing now every first
Sunday and we’re excited about that and so another way to Express gratitude for our members of our church and we say thanks be to God for sister Karen trusty a and other Ministries that are helping to sponsor that event um and then we also on Fourth Sunday this month are
Excited to do our throwback second throwback Sunday um and I thank God for that amen give God some praise y’all enjoyed the first throwback Sunday um I’m sure you will enjoy this second throwback Sunday and the third and um that leads me to my last announcement we have a couple of um special
Announcements that our board voted on just this past week one is the um support of our throwback Services until further notice we endorse the board the church endorses this idea that every fourth Sunday we will look back and look forward look back we have our little virtual um Museum outst to lift up

Would reopen our 11:00 a.m. service amen we’re going to reopen our 1100 a.m. service there are is a steady flow of folk who come to those doors every 11 :00 um hour looking for service and we have to tell them we’re sorry we’re only doing eight right now but until further
Notice um that that will change and so that further notice is now we’re starting today going to um do our 11:00 service with live worship we were doing both but the 11 o’cl service a year ago was with recorded music and that was because we were coming out of the
Pandemic and a number of other things now we’re having live worship music at 8 and 11 and I thank God our praise team has carried us throughout the pandemic give God some praise for them as well as our other aspects of our liturgy praise and worship Ministries we
Thank the Lord and at 11:00 we’re looking to do the same and and for those caregivers of children and Elders who can’t get up at 8:00 because it’s a little too difficult to make the 8:00 service we want you to come to our 11:00 service those of you who are watching
And listening by way of YouTube and Facebook we look forward to welcome you back to our 11:00 a.m. worship experience this going to be experimental quote unquote um at least for the next month maybe two months November possibly December get a feel for how this is working right so the deacons and myself
And all of us are constantly taking in information to ensure that we are serving the needs of our congregation if by chance this isn’t working then we’ll pivot again and figure out additional opportunities and options to engage as many of our shallow members as possible all right the second big announcement
That we made this this week at our Jen board meeting is that we are going to start doing repass again for funeral homegoing services and that will entail if the family wishes to have their service here at the shalow church that’s one thing they may wish to have their
Service and the repass here that’s another thing they M they may wish to have their service elsewhere but have the repass here at the shalow church and there’s a different scales of fees depending on um the status of the member or member right so if you’re an active
Member if you’re an inactive member please be clear both of those means membership active member inactive member both members but different status in terms of what the cost and those different things will come out to be then there are nonmembers and the nonmember may say hey we’re not a member
Of shalow but we like the location the parking the access um all of that and we want to use your facility for the service or downstairs Auditorium for the repass and they can rent it out out as if if they were running out the ambassador’s ballroom up on New York
Avenue right and we have fees and scales and all of that to correspond so point is Shiloh’s back doing repass and remember the last repass we did here at Shiloh was March 16 2020 three and a half years ago we have not had a repass service here at the
Charow church and that was for the late trust uh late truste a and Usher and Ross who served our church so faithfully and one of the biggest Pains of my hearts during the pandemic was that we couldn’t do service or repass for so many deserving families who sold so much
Into this church during 2020 21 22 and half of 23 3/4 of 23 and so I’m very pleased to announce that we are being able to do repass call the church talk to line and we will work what whatever will help you identify whatever bucket you fall into and the status and the
Corresponding fees all right but just know we’re doing repass we’re back to doing 11:00 a.m. service and I am um extremely thankful to God for the way our church right can speak for other churches our church has responded to the pandemic being mindful of the pandemic but also understanding pandemic doesn’t

Music and yesterday I was at John and Karen Weaver’s mother’s homegoing service the late Irma Hollis Weaver some of you got the text about checking out the live stream yesterday and Karen and John appreciated those of you who could and those who prayed are praying for
Them um I met a relative of theirs at the repass service sister letia and uh she is the gospel violinist about whom I speak and I want to show you a little snippet of her Ministry CU I’m just pleased that she was able to accept my invitation to come be with us
Today at our 11:00 a.m. service and if any of you um who are listening on our radio broadcast we certainly invite you to come back and share with us on 11 so take a little snippet of sister Latisia Yeah Lord amen Yes [Applause] Yes [Applause] [Applause] yeah [Applause] Lord [Applause] Now now [Applause] Now hey W [Applause] Right Right amen so that is Miss Leticia James so if you want to come on back and share with us at 11:00 service we invite you to do so we’re going to have a good time in the Lord amen all right it’s preaching time The Book of Philippians is known as one of
Paul’s um Epistles to the churches the Apostle Paul is a great Theologian a great author a great Pastor uh perhaps he’s known for his Evangelical Crusades and the most his church historians ascribe three major Crusades that Paul took to spread the gospel outside of Jerusalem to what we call Asia Minor
That includes places like the Greek Isles today even as far west for for him and them it would have been west of the Middle East where war is Raging right now west would have been Northwest and North directly north would have been into turkey and then Northwest would
Have been across the aan sea into these lower places of what have been called Caledonia and um what the Bible calls uh the land of Corinth and Ephesus and Philippi modern-day Greece and islands around and southern Europe and Far West as Eastern Italy would have been where
Paul’s Crusades took him and when he planted churches in these areas Paul being one person could not stay and Pastor that church because he was on to another church plant another Ministry site and so he would leave in these places in which he founded congregations men and women
Y’all yes some who say Paul had a thing against women if you look at the biblical record one is hardpressed to really conclude that what some take is one scripture in one book in one chapter of the Bible in which he says women be silent we take that and describe that to
All of Paul’s Theology and that is incorrect cuz surely if Paul meant women to be silent he wouldn’t have elevated Priscilla the wife of Aquilla to help P the church in Ephesus he surely would not have called out women as he does in this particular text Yoda and santii
Santii those women who are helping him do the work of ministry and so the Bible is not just a simple book that you read a couple of verses and extrapolate conclusions that are unfounded one has to the text one has to dig into the text one has to compare if
There is a Biblical author like Paul who writes over 15 books of the New Testament uh 13 books of the New Testament 27 books one has to ask what on this topic what do we find Paul writing in every book he wrote It’s just good not only biblical
Exeresis it’s just good research make sure you don’t jump the conclusions based on one study that you extrapolate and read across the body of literature that that you know in in in these programs that I’m in one of the first things they make you do is do a literature review so you
Can indoctrinate yourself with the entirety of the body of literature on that particular subject in biblical senses an exegetical literature view is to say on this topic what does the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelations have to say about this topic and who
Said what and when did they say it and what was the historical context in which they wrote it so that you can then get as much evidence about theological and christological and numerological and ecclesiological and you name it conclusions on a particular matter so Paul writes this particular letter to
The Christians in Philippi and anytime you read Paul’s writings you have to say it that way Paul is writing to the Christians in Corinth in Ephesus in Philippi in galatia and there are particular things that are unique to each of those communities that Paul is addressing as he writes his
Letters and so he writes to the Christians in Philippi in this particular text and he’s already written three chapters to them about variety of different Christ christological things because the one thing that Paul is doing is clarifying what Jesus said Paul isn’t saying or doing anything
That Jesus did not say or do and part of fact he says very in a variety of different times follow me but he appends that with the phrase follow me as what I follow Christ don’t just follow me without me following Christ you see me going off
The deep end don’t you go off the deep end if if if if that’s not somehow uh justified in scripture because there is a deep end that some of us may have to travel which is giving it up all or giving up all for Christ and some folk don’t want to give up
All for Christ you say you love Christ but you when it comes down to it are you willing to give up some things or some people for Christ amen somebody and so Paul is very clear about his mission and his message Paul is writing about the mission the message of
Christ and the mission is to carry that message as far wide as he possibly could and so this letter is in that context Paul writes to the Christians in Philippi he says these things in verse number one he says to the Christians in Philippi therefore my beloved and I
Believe he’s extrapolating this to both brothers and sisters even though he uses the one word brethren my my beloved and long for Brethren I I believe Paul is writing to everyone but there is a particular message I believe he is saying to the men of that Community as
It relates to the women of that Community he says look there in the text Stand Fast in the Lord I implore uoda and I implore ctii to be of the same mind in the Lord and so in some cases Paul is addressing conflict in God’s church and one of the
Key things that Paul wants for all Christians in every church is to be unified can I say that again unified Paul is very clear why would you be in a church and you trying to tear that church apart can I say that again why would you be in
A place where you say you’re a member of but you don’t like being there that doesn’t just go for the church why would I stay in the sorority and I say I’m a member of it but I don’t like anybody in leadership I don’t like anybody in the sorority but I’m in the
Sorority and I’m just causing all kind of Chaos let me jump to the fraternity let me jump to the lodge look over here Mike let me jump to the lodge let me jump to your job and job might be a little different cuz you may put up with some stuff cuz
They giving you a paycheck I’m not giving you a paycheck the lodge the the the fraternities are already not giving you a paycheck so why are you stand there causing chaos Paul implores the people in Corinth to be of the same mind I can get into every Ministry why
They a part of that Ministry and you causing chaos I can apply that to every point in life because the question comes why what am I contributing and am I contributing something to the positive and so Paul says in the text that in verse in in this first point
That I want to make I want to use three M today I want to use the words uh mediate modulate and meditate and I’m just going to go through them really quickly and then we’re going to move into communion mediate mediate in imates that I am engaging between two people or two
Groups of persons to try to bring some either resolution or unification to what is going on Paul says in verse number one and verse number two Brethren put it back up there Brethren I need you to be of the same mind and to stand fast in the midst of
Whatever is going on so that we can build this thing and not tear this thing down I implore Yoda and I implore CTI to be of the same mind in the Lord male female older younger be of the same mind uh and and he goes on in in other books
To say let this mind be in you that was in Christ what is that mindset that God did not consider it robbery to send his beloved son from Heaven to Earth and that Jesus came down and gave up what he had in heaven to take on the bana of man
And woman to help show us what it means to love God that means Jesus gave up something in order to give something in order to get something gave up for a moment his ecclesiastical perch to come down to earth to give up his life in order to
Get the lives of those of us who were lost and so it is that Paul understands the mindset of Christ and he wants that mind to be that which dominates you and I as we go about our daily lives he goes on to say in verse number three three and four this very
Interesting he says I urge you also True Companion help those women who labor with me in the gospel with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the book of life that word help ought to jump out at you because every now and again every single one of
Us needs some help as strong as I may think I am I know that I am not strong enough to carry this thing by myself and I need some help I need some deacons I I need some Deaconess I need some clergy I need some praise worshippers I need some
Instrumentalists I need some registration folk I need some administrative folk I need some folk on the door I need some folk in the security Ministry I need some help cuz this thing isn’t about one person this thing is about Christ we all need some help you cannot do this
By yourself even in your marriage that’s why they call your spouse a helpmate to help you in times of need when you’re weak I got you baby I’m strong when you’re strong I may be weak but together we can do this thing come on somebody God God never intended us to be long
Rangers God never intended us to be solo artists God intended us to work in community in the body of Christ and the key word in community is Unity to be of the same mind and so he says my first word is mediate because we constantly have to mediate our relationships with each
Other and then my second word is modulate because how many you know when you’re dealing with people folk can get on your last nerve I’m not looking at anybody I’m looking up and I’m looking at me because y’all may say I get on your last nerve because in our mediation there is
The need to modulate and regulate our emotions can I say that again cuz in when we are dealing with people and personalities including yours one has to understand not only is there a constant mediation process going on but there must be a constant regulation process going on Grandmama
Said it this way don’t let everything that comes up come out I can’t stop it from coming up but you may be able to stop it from coming out cuz once it’s out it’s hard to get back that’s why the Bible says be slow to speak quick to listen slow to
Judge cuz once it goes out it’s heart to then mold that thing and massage that thing and try to make it palpable and make it acceptable I know you just want to tell them what you were thinking I’m going give them a piece of my mind but you better hold back a
Piece because human emotions are what they are but I believe inmic in the Biblical scripture is the ability to regulate our emotions how do you say that Pastor look at verse number four and five verse four and five Paul says rejoice in the lord always again I will say rejoice let your
Gentleness be known to all men and women I believe he will say for the Lord is at hand uh that word gentleness ought to jump out at you because in the book of Galatians Paul talks about the fruit of the Flesh and he talks about the Fruit
Of the Spirit and the fruit of the flesh are envy and jealousy and anger and all of these negative things that we know generally link to our human emotions but the fruit of the spirit is what joy and peace and kindness and longsuffering and gentleness and self-control against which there is no
Law they’re actually nine fruit of the spirit and you and I every day we get up must figure out how are we going to appropriate those nine fruit of the spirit how am I going to control my tongue today amen somebody how am I going to control my
Outburst today how am I going to control my anger today how am I going to regulate my mind today that goes for any kind of human relationship that goes for marriages that goes for spousal relationships that goes for parent child relationships cuz your children can take you there but a
Good parent understands just cuz you or your children want to take you there doesn’t mean that you have to go there that goes for your professional relationships that goes for your interpersonal relationships that goes for your fraternal relationships that goes for your soral relationships that goes for your ecclesiastical
Relationships it goes for every relationship that we have the fruit of the spirit joy peace kindness gentleness meekness love self-control against which there is no law because Paul understands that these are things that are going to help you regulate put verse four and five back up
There and Paul elevates a couple of them he says joy and gentleness Grandma you said this way this joy that I have the world didn’t give it to me this Joy I have I missed that note the world didn’t give it to me this joy that I have come on y’all
Y’all see me struggling the world didn’t give it the world can’t take it away put your hands together give God some Praise Paul says joy Rejoice all always that means when they take you there get some Joy dig deep and find some Joy I don’t know what brings you Joy in the Lord but you got to push that button when they’re trying to push your buttons push the joy button and go
Ahead and just say I know you trying to rob me of my joy but I’ve come too far by faith God has been too good to me to let you rob me of my joy This Joy that I Have gentleness I’m learning these things as you are gentleness okay I know you just gave me this heavy thing let me be slow in my response gentle perhaps even in my reaction harsh reactions bring about harsh reactions to your reaction and I’m guilty of it we’re all guilty of
It but watch when someone brings you a harsh reaction and you give them a soft reaction back they don’t know what to do with that cuz they’re trying to push you to that harsh reaction and when you give them something that disarms them that’s why the Bible says when your enemy is
Hungry give them some food when your enemy is thirsty give them something to drink for by so doing you Heap coals of fire upon their head they don’t know how to handle the devil doesn’t know how to handle a Godly response and so mediate modulate then the last one is this phrase
Meditate Paul ends this little what I call formula and I’m always a little mindful of formulas because you know just like theories that can be disproven formulas don’t always working every time but I think this one can hold I think this one can hold cuz how I mediate my
Human inter relationships is based upon my internal ability to modulate my emotions which then also culminates in my ability to keep ongoing refreshment into my spirit which is upon that which I meditate what do you spend your time thinking about what do you give your energy to and the Bible says in the
Latter parts of these verses 67 8 and n look at the text the verse says in verse number six be anxious for nothing but by all prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving to let your request be made known unto God keep that verse up right there verse number six cuz I need you to
Understand one of the keys to verse number six is not that you’re not going to get anxious but the Bible says when you are anxious I need you to counter your anxiety with prayer and Thanksgiving I need you to say Lord you know where they’re trying to take me you
Know what they want me to do but I’m going to just focus for a moment and some of the folk used to say I’m going have a wooa moment how many you know what a wooa moment is will you just take a deep breath hold it and you exhale everybody say
Woo because the Thanksgiving part is that you have to counter The Narrative that’s coming at you and when the negative is coming remind yourself of what God has done for you and get into a space of Thanksgiving and say Lord I understand what’s going on here but I
Thank you for your kindness I thank you for your love I thank you for your provision I thank you for your protection and you have a conversation with God as they’re having a conversation with you and you continue to give God the f focus of what’s going on at that
Moment and he says with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God Lord keep me in this situation Lord deliver me out of this situation Lord don’t let me do something that brings dishonor to your name and to your ministry Lord help me right now in the
Name of Jesus and then he goes on to say in verse number seven he says that not only ought you give thanks thanks with with Thanksgiving but the peace of God which surpasses all and some versions say human understanding will guard your hearts and guard your minds in Christ
Jesus just like last week I preached about the armor of God put all the whole armor of God that which repels the fiery darts that are coming against you prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving will guard your heart and guard your mind meditation and then he concludes he says
Finally brothers and S sisters in verse number eight whatever things are true whatever things are noble whatever things are just whatever things are pure whatever things are lovely whatever things are of a good report if there be any virtue is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things to meditate is to give your
Attention to to meditate is to focus in on to meditate is to direct all of your energy to to meditate is to spend time uh reflecting upon not the negative but the positive and I need some Christian Blood Bought sa Blood Bought Saints who are watching and listening to me today
To understand that that on which you meditate will grow can I say that again that on which you meditate will multiply itself so if I’ve meditate on that which is negative don’t be surprised when negativity starts to grow but if I meditate on those things which are positive those
Things which are Godly those those things which are spiritual those things which are anointed those things which are scriptural can I get a witness in the house today if I meditate on those things which are biblical those things which are uh theological they will begin to grow and
As they grow they will become bigger than the things that’s coming against you I don’t know about you but I serve a big God and the big God I serve is able I said he’s able to handle my big problems because my big God died on a
Big cross shed his big blood to deal with my big problems and early on the third day he got out of that big grave with all power all all power and authority in the world to handle my big problems there’s no problem that God cannot handle there’s no demon that God
Cannot deal with there’s no challenge that God cannot mediate there’s no bridge that God cannot build there’s no sickness that God cannot heal there’s no check that God cannot write I serve a big God I serve a big God does anybody else here serve a God who is able to do exceedingly
Abundantly above all that I could ever imagine it’s there in the text y’all as plain as day if you meditate on negative negative will grow but if you meditate on the things of God the things of God will grow and as I cross the Midway point I’m asking God for 110 years y’all
I don’t know if he give it to me but I’m at the Midway point and Truth is every year you’re at the Midway point I hope I’m learning something as I grow older time out for this petty stuff this negative stuff this little stuff let me focus on the god stuff
Let me focus on the things of God and the more I focus on the things of God the more he helps me what mediate and modulate my meditation helps me with my mediation my meditation helps me with my modulation my meditation helps me with my elevation in the name of
Jesus Let the church say Amen Let the church say Amen again and one more time for the Holy Ghost won’t you stand to your feet pray with me father thank you for your word it’s as plain as day it’s right there in the word I thank you for
It preaching not with standing it’s right there in the word god and I thank you for your word help us all to learn these things to be spiritually successful I pray that you would touch your people and draw them nigh unto thee in the name of
Jesus and if someone doesn’t know you in the pardon of sin I pray that you would draw them now in Jesus name anyone listening under the sound of my voice on YouTube or Facebook listening on Free Conference Call watching on in the service today I pray that if they don’t have a relationship

You as often as you do this do this in remembrance of me we do now eat likewise in like manner Jesus Took the cup and said this is the cup of the New Covenant of my blood shed for the remission of your sins I should not
Drink of this cup with you again until I drink it new with you in my father’s Kingdom as often as you drink this drink it in remembrance of me we do now drink likewise there was no benediction on that day but the Bible does say that
