I like what did I like about it no well you can talk about what you like about but what when you were there what made you say you know what this this might be a good space to get in business but in the healthcare space it wasn’t really

The healthcare like I I just needed to get out like the fire department no disrespect I love my people you know I love my peers that I develop my friends but they’ll tell you it’s not it’s not the place to be if you want to live a

Certain life yeah you know what I mean so it wasn’t like I knew what I was going to do right it was just hey Lieutenant Justin can I take vacation next week mm after a while that sis you know what I mean oh my mom said can I go

Out as a grown man he be like why I got to ask somebody I got to ask you or then if they say no then I got to switch with someone hopefully I got to you know maybe Bri them so I could go to my daughter’s soccer game yeah or just

Somebody saying you didn’t get accepted for this promo promotion MH you know you’re like yo I’m qualified like yeah I know but we got 200 people you see someone who’s not qualified not look like you but you know you see it was that man it was just you know I felt

A disservice right I got a call on this dude 11:30 in the you know at night walking along 155 he got creamed by a car he’s still alive I’m usually doing this praying over him you know doing that come on god let’s you know I’m all in

I’m emotional but I became the five Fighters that I didn’t like like I’m like man this dude like just go to sleep bro I want to go back to the station you know what I’m saying like wow I was like just no emotion yeah literally you become almost desensitized desensitized

And and and you can still be desensi desensitized and still do your job with passion right you just learn how to disconnect when you don’t have that sensitivity anymore right so but I had that sensitivity and I had the passion but it was gone that one call the very

Next day I woke up to my and said I’m out no it’s like he’s like what I was like yeah I told y’all when I get to the point where I’m not emotionally involved anymore yeah I got to go cuz I’mma get someone hurt get myself hurt I’m not I’m

Not invested no more mostly yeah so I left like that was it two weeks notice my chief called me tried to talk me out of it I mean there was other reasons like I just you know I did taxes in 2008 to whatever so I used to do taxes for my

Lieutenants and Chiefs yeah that was my crystal ball to see what I was going to be making yeah like I’m not doing this for 10 more years and y’ making more than me see you be like okay this ain’t it what’s funny is is like you almost

Have a uh an imagination of what the what it looks like but it’s not the reality and when you find out you like wait a minute huh I remember I had a uh like a summer job and uh it was a guy’s son he was super dope and uh I was like

Dang okay we killing you I was making decent money like for some job it was like maybe uh I think it might have been like 15 or 20 an hour or something like that it wasn’t bad money and but the sun was dope and I was like man he got be

I’m making this you know what I’m saying I looked at he he he showed me his check one time and I looked at and it was like might have been like8 or $10 more an hour and I was like man this his son this his son yeah

So you already know I already know what this look like you know what I’m say sim similar feeling that’s that’s doe let me ask you this have you seen people have that have you know built relationships um in the fire station and gone on to do well I

Know you’ve seen that but have you seen people that may have messed up relationships and then it’s affected them when they try to get into your space H that left the fire department yeah like they just didn’t treat people right and then they come over here and

It’s like a person that they had a bad relationship with is in in a position that K that happens all the time bro cuz Healthcare is so big yeah but everyone knows each other right Priority One we all we know each other so you get people

That will say hey man this guy called he’s going to come look for a job you know but this is what happened wow but on the other side of spectrum we have people that have left the fire department for a reason that probably wasn’t justifiable but you’ll have senior firefighters calling and saying

Hey can you give them a job yeah so it works both ways you know like I said Healthcare is like you got to build your business on relationship y mhm yeah not bad ones yeah the word spr yeah yeah I mean and and I ask that question CU it’s

Two things one I know some of yall looking at this and you may be wanting to go to a different space but I also want you to know you can’t disrespect where you’re at because like you said it’s a small world like what’s funny is I found you through a friend that I

Have but you knew my brother yep yep exactly and it’s like how what works with your brother what what are the odds of that though you understand what I’m saying in and that’s why you have to be careful now how you start maintaining relationships and start building them

Because you just never know like you don’t know who you might be doing business with that’s a brother of somebody you’re working with today you know you know what I’m saying or it could be friends a best friend with somebody that you know today that you

Cussed out or treat it wrong and the next thing you know you at a business meeting and they looking they like yo n that’s that remember that dude I was talking about at the barbecue that’s the dude I was talking about and it it just you know stuff comes full circle so I

Know even sometimes you might be frustrated where you are and Le you know you left your job for that reason but man still treat people right yeah I didn’t burn no bridges yeah no I left on good terms you know what I mean yeah absolutely let me let me ask you this

Because you talked about relationships and I I believe building relationships and long-term relationships are important can you give somebody some tips or things that you do well to build relationships with people what I do well man is I and I’m I’m getting better the older I

Get right what I do well is noticing my weaknesses okay right I overcommit yeah yeah and and somebody told me one time I’m loyal to a right you know when me and you did I’m like look don’t worry about this I’m I’m cuz all I need is one

Person to say yo I got you yeah right and so sometimes now I have to realize that that doesn’t mean I have to go all out for them for the rest of my life like I’m not indebted to you so I tell people like just cuz someone does

Something nice you know pay attention to it and you want to reciprocate but you’re not indebted to them right that’s a fact you know what I mean and understand if somebody does something nice are they benefiting as well as as much as you are right sometime I be

Looking at people like yo this dude looked out for me how much money he made oh he made a lot like no he looked that for himself too like saying was business you know so learn the difference and and you know that’ll stop you from getting

Hurt yeah and I’ve had people that I’ve had people that do that bro it’s like like you know like and not how can I say this it’s not my current Barbers or nothing like that but people in the past but I’ve had people that’s like yo we I

Pay you every time we we have Aver conv ation M and then they be like I’m doing something they like oh I got to pay for that I’m like I pay you every week yes you have to pay like you not coming to my you ain’t coming to my crib cutting

My house for free yeah cutting my hair for free you’re not like yo you might got pulling up like no like but sometimes and this is something I had to learn kind of what you’re saying is I had to realize there’s some relationships that are just business and

Then there are some that are both and but if you start mistaking one as like a friendship that’s really that they really just see as business that’s where you start getting messed up that’s yeah yeah and a lot of stuff is mutual it’s like and it should be mutual I try to

Have as many Mutual relationships as possible cuz you know those typically work out better if somebody needs somebody else more than the other person it’s not like something that makes sense it’s like you got to have a neutral heart correct right you can’t have a you can have a big heart for Selective

Comes with conditions all the time and a lot of people they just build sometimes people are building relationships for a reason a lot of time you can tell like okay you trying to just get close just to do this I I know a lot of people to

Try to get close to other people just to get to me or get close to me to get close somebody else yeah y’all got a whole set of different issues I don’t have those issues you know what I’m saying like but I remember when me and

But can you you know but just to have that authentic for that in my friendships yeah yeah ABS now I’ll say this cuz and you can share whatever you want to share right but you know a lot of y’all know by this point I was married before and it wasn’t a uh like

We didn’t have like a terrible divorce like yo I hate you that type of stuff there were things that that I learned about myself after the fact that you know I don’t know if you could look back on your relationship and be like okay there were some problems there and then you

Know you start dating people again you’re like okay wait a minute okay that was me you know what I’m saying like because this a brand new person and I’m having a similar issue so that one I created but then there something that you that you um you know obviously see

That could have came from another party did you in your transition from you know fatherhood relationship and all that kind of stuff did you find out anything about yourself as a man yeah I’m not perfect yeah I’ll tell you last month I was at a

Um a wedding and uh it was my sister’s best friend but she’s like my little sister yeah and um we at the reception wedding was dope and uh I was like dang they G about probably ask me to speak what am I going to say I I met her

Husband now yeah but the first time I met him was at my mom’s funeral so I’m like oh you know first time I met my guy he was at my mom’s funeral so that speaks characters I mean that speaks volumes for his character yeah and he

Really cares about B yeah so that shows that he it’s not about him it’s about you know being there for her yeah bro don’t you know when I first met my son’s uh mom about 13 years ago she asked me to go to her grandmother’s funeral when

People man I was at a place in Arizona I was I partnered up with a doctor in Arizona to open up a a clinic out there y so I’m calling my my homeboy I’m like yo I’m in Arizona where you at he’s like

Was why what was holding me back from being consistent in doing it earlier I’m not going to say it was fear man I don’t know it wasn’t fear it was just um laziness sometimes you know I tell people making a million dollars is not hard keeping it is harder cuz you get

Complacent so once I taste and that’s one of my achilles heels when I taste success I could fall back a little yeah you know and I’m like and then I see you let’s go yeah Justin working out you know I’m like competitive but time my competitive energy I have to have that

Came up to talked about it uh for what would you say the pros and cons cuz one of the main businesses that you teach are is non-emergency Healthcare so number one what is that we okay so what I teach is people how to own their own ambulance company

Right so I don’t want people to get it confused because a lot of times people say non-emergency and that’s really a wheelchair van right so I try to clarify that we use our ambulances to do non-emergency transports because that’s where the money’s at got it right y but

Our ambulances are also licensed to do 911 we just don’t cater to that yeah cuz there’s the consistency is not there right you could go do a 911 call and hope the person pays their bill or I can use the same ambulance that I’m licensed to that can do everything the fire

Departments do but I just cater to consistent scheduling yeah patience schedule patience so that’s really what I do so one of the biggest things this is not even a healthcare thing this is a United States thing is uh employees yeah right how do you slow down or stop the turnover rate

Yeah and that’s the one thing I’ve done was build a culture y um definitely have my expectations in black and white yep and I try to do what everybody’s not doing like I was one of the only ambulance companies providing Insurance y so when people get insurance they feel

Obligated to stay they have a commitment to stay because they have kids or whatever and if nobody else is doing it yeah I can probably take home less of a profit but I don’t have to worry about waking up cuz somebody didn’t come to work cuz they don’t care you know what

I’m saying so when I provide insurance and do little things for my employees and I make sure the they eat before I do yeah you know if your employees know you got a Range Rover know you got this m you you got to take care of them yeah so

I make sure they’re taking care of yeah and they can call me at any time yeah so that’s one of the biggest things and that’s one of the ways I combat it yeah what what would you say are like some of the pros and cons of having an ambulance

Company I’ll always say this man I own a home health yeah and if you walk around and tell people you own a home health they like oh that’s what’s up M but when you say I own an amb come you go huh yeah you know they look at you like huh

How’ you so I love that right yeah that’s true yeah the um right I walked through the World Congress Center yesterday uh cuz we we’re trying to do the ems4 Investments bro I was in my healthc care shirt slacks no security sto me like you know it’s like that oh

You’re Health yeah yeah so it’s like that um that emphasis people put on it right um so I think that’s one of the pros right because it opens doors for so many other things one of the cons are the cost yeah that’s for sure it takes

To start it you know okay the cost so if you but you know things wasn’t available like they are now like you and I could have just got 150k business funding we loving life yeah yeah you know but say know I paid all my stuff cash cash this

Dude was like yo I got two trucks I’m buying right now and you know and my mentees do that now but they do with business funny we did and I end up I end up buying four you bought four y was growing you know what I mean and um and

That’s you know the things and even one of the cons is not having a network right cuz when you thought about even hey this might not be the thing I was like give me a chance to just audit you yeah and now by way and I called him I

Said bro I this is this cost me too much money and I cuz you know and granted we started during Co so it was it was a it was a tough time because that business and I’m going just kind of give my perspective is it’s almost like a

Reverse of most businesses meaning like we had to get the office first right you have to get the office first we had to get the trucks first we had to get the insurance first invest so much before and then you start and so I and I and I

Want people to understand like CU you know some people that maybe some of yall are like network marketing or like side hustle businesses and like this is like a real business and so the reason a lot of people can’t do well in even some of these affiliate programs and stuff like

That is because their mindset is not even strong enough to start a real business so like when you I don’t want you to be be prepared of like y you really jump jumping into a real business but here’s the other thing what I like about that is you put so much in you

Have to try to figure it out you got to you know what I’m saying and I feel like sometimes with entrepreneurs the problem the reason a lot of them don’t figure it out is because they don’t put enough in and this is a real business and and it

Was unique for me because it’s literally that’s the first I’ve never had a business that I had to do it that way cuz I always do my business as op like let me come up with an idea I’m going get some interest first and then I’m

Going to go do it this was like no you do all I was like y we got to I got to pay all this for and then when I started you know I I waited you know I did stuff before we even got some of the numbers

So I’m paying payroll first for 90 days Texas out of my you know what I’m saying so it’s a but it’s a great business because it’s like even during coid people needed transport if you guys would have started right before Co I mean Co gave Medicare gave us a check

For 150 wow every Ambulance Company in Georgia got 150,000 from the government they’re like we need to make sure you guys are still running wow so again even though we run non-emergency we’re treated like the 911 companies right and the thing is and I know you know no knock on anybody doing

Trucking I get a client once a week yeah saying they trying to get rid of their trucks M and people and I’ve done seminars and people go well why is what you’re doing Recession Proof M and I ask that question is there a liquor store in your neighborhood is there Popeyes is

There McDonald’s do people still get sick do people still age are there car accidents as long as all those things happen I will have a job yeah you know what I’m saying until we stop aging yeah and stop having car accidents and people fall Alabama boat do you know stuff like

Like licenses for that business you got to have a state license but you don’t have to be EMT okay so the owner don’t have to be EMT okay you have to have EMTs I guess work Tru got it okay so it’s kind of similar like sometimes with

Trucking you don’t have to be the driver but you can driver has to have a CDL or something got it got it okay what is the day day in the life of two people right one the person cuz you’ve done both like you were the person on the truck running

And then at this point you don’t have to get on the truck anymore you’re the operator can you give me the day-to-day life of a person that’s operating the business and on the truck cuz some of y’all may start like that yeah then also the the the today life of running the

Business so we’ll start with the person that’s running it and on the truck well right now I’m in a thank God that I manage companies right and I always tell people if you’re doing well my mentees I tell them if you’re running a business after 2 years you’re

Doing something wrong right you got to find out your happy place meaning that um like right now my right-hand man Marvin Thrasher y he makes more than me okay right y I don’t have to ever be there yeah he gets those calls right and so what we did was we made everyone who

Works in our office is an EMT mhm from the receptionist to the billing person to Thrasher got it so it would take four people to call out for me to actually have to jump on the truck that’s not going to happen you see what I’m saying

But I got to a place where threr makes 10K a month I make seven but I have so many other Investments like I’m not let’s build up the business you know what I mean I’ll pay myself more when the time be but if someone say hey I’m

Going to start this company for you you’re going to make 7K a month but you don’t ever have to be there yeah you don’t do it 84k year for not doing nothing yeah you see what I’m saying so that’s my life now right I don’t check

Runs I don’t do marketing yeah you know I don’t do anything right Thrashers day to-day is jumping on the truck if somebody calls right um so say this is your assistant or this is the actual owner operator for the first two years Okay jump on on trucks if anyone calls

Doing scheduling doing marketing and reviewing all the patient care reports because that’s where the money’s at yeah so every time your employees run a call they have to do a patient care report you as the owner are going to look that report over and send it to billing to

Make sure your money’s right got it okay okay so that’s the dayto day the EMTs they pick up patients we’re medical Uber got it you know what I mean we take people that can’t walk got it okay I like it if because you’ve seen companies come in business do extremely well

You’ve seen some come in business and not do well what have you seen in the companies that fail their issues lack of ownership yeah like you got to eat breathe and sleep you you know before you even ran a a thing we was on the phone every other hey Hans

What’s going dot do but people think this is not passive income let’s just get that yeah out the way the first two years are not yeah you have to be an owner operator yeah right I just got off the phone with my guy um Justin no I

Mean Sean who owns Life EMS and Life EMS closed down and I literally got off the phone with him about an hour ago but he has a new Ambulance Company I’m like bro I never asked you what happened to life he’s like We Grew so fast bro that when

Co they grew from one truck to 20 trucks 20 trucks in two years he couldn’t keep up so if Medicare stops your money you still got 20 trucks of payments yeah so he’s like and you got payroll for the people still his pay was 40,000 every

Two weeks yeah so but what I realized was I didn’t have to get the 20 trucks I talked and did enough research that again you find your happy place when you get to 20 trucks or four or five trucks you’re almost making the same yeah right

So give me five trucks and I’ll have to be on an ambulance and now he has five trucks he’s life he’s an Alpharetta you know so it’s metti or something like that so um that’s that’s one of the biggest things people they see the money and they don’t grow methodically right

It’s like like you said this the the instant coffee Y no let this thing Brew learn this industry cuz Medicare you know dialysis is just one facet of it right you got hospice you got mental health you got football games basketball games you got Urgent Care wound home

Care you know nursing homes I just named other eight other streams of income that you could do with this but people focus on one thing and because that one thing is continuous yeah they try to grow and grow too fast and now you got to look

For employees you got to jump on the truck I’m comfortable yeah you know what I’m saying like yeah I I want to I want to touch on something too right especially for for you all because I I caught it in what he said but probably a lot of y’all didn’t catch it right

Number one he said it takes about two years before you can really not eat breath and sleeve sleep the business if you’re doing it right right and obviously at this point you have other businesses a mistake I see a lot of entrepreneurs making right now is they’re trying to get into a business

Ambulance pays per Medicare that’s the majority of your patients right you can still get private pay patients like Signa human Blue Cross Blue Shield and they’ll pay more right but Medicare pays now they raised it it used to be 150 it’s now 162 so if I take someone to

Dialysis it’s $162 okay if I take them back it’s another 162 right so that’s what 134 I mean 234 something like that or 334 334 yep 334 but what happens is and then they pay $7 a mile yeah so the average person if they live 10 miles a away that’s $70

$70 there $70 back so now you take that 334 and then you add $ 140 to it y my math is not as good as it used to be yeah but it’s like you know 470 maybe something 470 y but then they go three

Times a week so take that 470 * 3 right it’s like 13 $1,400 right take that $1,400 and times that by four weeks in a month M right so you’re like $532 y now if you take that and multiply that by 20 patients you had $104,000 a month yep that’s the ambulance breakdown

Right so the ambulance breakdown you can make gross $114,000 a month mhm the Home Health it’s different yeah you get awarded hours right so let’s say you get a child that’s sick because we specialize in pediatric patients me gu Brad all of us and the reason they do
