Reminds me of a one individual capturing the Holy Bible by the name of David who we all know well just like David Cain was the youngest and the smallest of the brothers was its impact was Major like David Caleb was a musician and as she loved music himself even watching the

Bands of skyline and the march of storm in Prairie a m he also loved to share his love with music to his others as he DJ different events and parties not only that just like David Caden was one who overcame Giants if you knew his stories you know the Giants that Kailyn overcame

And just like David killing was a dancer in fact even our days in college he was one of the best dancers on campus which makes sense why he loved to DJ because he wanted everyone else to dance well just like David Caleb had a great impact

And we want to take this time as we reflect to celebrate him as he exchanged his hooks for his wings good evening everyone a friend when a frat brother becomes a friend becomes a brother that’s what Caitlyn loves to me it all began with no payments in 1999.

I met these young men online and once stood forward and his name was cable mother did I know later on I would call him quick but that was already his line name Caitlin was the youngest of his brothers but he was always at the Forefront of the madness

Caleb would not go without being hurt his presence was bigger than life and each and every day he made sure that he was hurt after Caitlyn plays I quote soon found out that we live less than a mile from one another and we found ourselves hanging out on a regular basis

Now Cohen is an unusual name for African-Americans and I found out soon there were more than just one first I met little Chris and Christian then came big Chris Roderick eventually Lamar but they had more they had an adopted brother named Leroy then these kids had simply had cousins from their dad’s

Brother Patrick and Freddie and Shirley soon I found myself being adopted into the Coleman family it was another type of a be to be a part of the co-ed family and I’m truly blessed Caitlin and I at that time had a special relationship we talked almost every day

Or we was at each other’s crib almost every day and for you to know for you that know Caleb Caitlin had a special Rhythm about himself the way he moved through life was like none other he could gain he could do Impressions and the things that he could do with the Bible

And oftentimes I would just laugh at the Bantry between he and his older brother 10 years apart and if Roger had a bite Caleb had a fight if Roger went 120 cable with 140. it was always a competition and as we would go back and forth he was safe

Who you gonna believe me or him he can’t beat me it was always a good time and from the times where we sat down and had the meal to the times where he took the last Dr Pepper from Rock Creek it was always a good time but Kevin was a special man

And as my brother mentioned we all were in the room in a different rooms where we received that call not the recent call but when he went down on the bike and at that time we didn’t know as we drove to the hospital if he was going to make it

But God is so good that he gave me back to us and I just want us to think about that right now for those who have a moment technique God gave us back him at that time and if you ever had heard the story he said he

Went to the life and God told him it wasn’t time and he came back so I am so grateful for that time that God gave him back to us so now as we sit here in the cut I just asked if you take a moment to think about your individual

Unique times with cable and when you’re going through your time take a moment to just say thank you because Caitlyn is still watching over you Caitlin is still with us and Kevin will forever to be throwing up the hooks so to the corn family I

So don’t worry about Mama Glory I got him for you being rude he know better but like I said I didn’t get a chance to speak to either one of you all older brothers then he said speak to no one uh during the ceremony I know y’all got a

Lot going on uh sorry for your loss but let you know uh he’s in the lowest hands everything’s gonna be all right just like used to teach us mama Gloria you have a good day I shall not want he maketh me to lie down in Green Pastures beside the Steel World

Try to accommodate that and do something special for the family so those of you who have desire for some remarks we do have a camera set out just outside in the foyer where you can go in front of the video camera and give your remarks and they’ll be recorded and after all of

Them have compiled have been compiled and edited will be given and delivered to the family that way mother you can have something that you can look at and go and view as days and years come somebody ought to say Amen all right thank you for honoring that request

We’ll have remarks now uh first of all from Omega sci-fi followed by the Dallas fire and rescue department and the City of Dallas Fire Chief from this Podium here after they have shut up given their remorse we will have special remarks from uh especially for pastor Gerald Britt Jr amen I can imagine

Brother Cohen saying these words I have fought the good fight I have finished my course kept the faith well all the members of the Omega Sci-Fi fraternity please stand and please remain standing if you can how wonderful it is that God takes our cares issues problems and concerns upon himself for us

What a Mighty and righteous God we serve on behalf of the members of the Omega Sci-Fi fraternity in the north Texas area we offer our deepest sympathy to the coin family when you do common things in life in an uncommon way you will command the attention of the world

My brother Cleveland was one of those people who did some uncommon things but he did I’m in a very respectful way he was a very bright and ambitious person who captured the attention of his peers co-workers and Friends he had a very captivating smirk and smile that would light up the room

He was always willing to serve in any in whatever capacity we may need during his life with the brothers of Omega he exemplified our motto of friendship is essential to the soul he lived by our standards of manhood scholarship perseverance and uplift he modeled his life with these four

Pillars but certainly he modeled it with perseverance he was a fighter one who never gave up and was going to succeed with whatever cause he was a brother who redefined the true meaning of the poem we call Invictus by Ernest Henley persevering through many trials and tribulations and have overcome many

Adversities and obstacles all after all others have given up hope he he was the epitome of what we call a survivor a warrior a fighter and a true soldier in God’s Army it is impossible to fully Express the void that brother Kalin has left in his way of his Passage

Such a loss like Kailyn brings such rapid tremendous heart-wrenching changes these types of changes can never be easy words don’t come easy at a time like this but please know that we the members of Omega Psi Phi are sharing your pain God work in mysterious ways we are told

But when we lose someone we can never fathom the logic of it nothing can replace but replace the loss of a loved one but life must goes on and sometimes we have to live the dreams and Legacy of that person through us just wanted you to know that we are here

For your support in whatever we can do in spite of the sadness you feel now there will be happy days ahead during this difficult time May the comfort of God’s loving arm carry you through the Quiet Moments and bring you peace in closing on behalf of the brothers

We extend our sincere condolences to the entire coin family and friends and to all that knew Caleb we pray that you remember him firmly with love and happiness and may your hearts be freed from sadness in due time may you relish the memories of him and always be thankful of the time that

My name is Jason Evans I do the public information for the fire department uh more pertinent to this day I was also a classmate of kalin’s I’m here speaking on behalf of class 259. and 260. our condolences go out the entire Cohen family as well as his family I mean his other

Family and friends Caitlyn had a way from Rookie school um all the way up to his last assignment and recruiting of brightening up every work location um that he was at he was the he was a member in our class who regardless with how difficult things had become he always had a way

Of lightening the lightening the mood helping you understand that regardless of how challenging it was you could always push through it I mean he always had a comedic way of doing it as well and I know a lot of you know that about him we just want you all to know

That even though as as classmates we all went our separate ways that it was never lost the impact that Caitlyn had on us all as individuals we were always family we want you to know that you will always be family and in order to recognize that we have

We came together as a class and we purchased some items to help you remember that the first of which is this act I’m sorry is this Acts that actually speaks to his tenure on the fire department as well as the one thing that he would never let any of us forget

Is Omega sci-fi second one of the other things we got him is more directly related to his uh class his 259 260 um in front of the coffin you’ll see that we also got him a plaque uh that you can have um to commemorate his time on the

Department as well as the class that he was with in addition we have a one thousand dollar check that we we will present so that you can use it um however you see fit um the last thing is we will have a brick uh with Caitlyn’s name his um

His rank as well as the time to served uh place at our Firefighter Memorial at our training center in front of the John Clark memorial statue all that said I’ll reiterate the fact that um Kalyn is and will always be family as will you thank you [Applause] good morning

My name is Chief Dominic artists of Dallas Fire Rescue on behalf of our mayor Eric Johnson the entire City Council our city manager TC Broden Acts and the entire Dallas fire rescue family we like to just say to this family thank you for allowing us to be here today to celebrate

The life and the legacy of our dear brother Kalyn Cohen I work with Caitlyn for many years at station 49 right on Hampton down the road here we were known as a rock The Rock we it was a very very busy time we ran all day all night

Sometimes even slept on the apparatus we were so tired and it never fell I could look back and Caitlyn was always smiling and I said man I’m tired or he said Lou we got to continue to do what we do I take that with me when I think about his legacy

On the day that he passed I remember going over to the house and speaking with Miss Cohen and I came to comfort her and let her know that your fire department family is going to be here forever we’ve been around 150 years in the city of Dallas and we’ll be another 150 and

So forth but as I begin to comfort her she turned the tables on me and I said how did that happen I’m I’m here to just make you feel better but she began to tell me she said you know she God is a good god she said you know because he could have

Been gone a long time ago she said so God gave us an extended time to be with him and I couldn’t say nothing but you know back up and I had to re just my tie and say wait a minute I’m supposed to be comforting you but

But more or less you comforting me and I begin to really think about his life and how I know he cherished three things and that was God his family and then the fire department I know I didn’t say Omega sci-fi but but that’s because I’m an alpha [Applause]

So I got to get it out there but he loved you guys too but as I say that I say that about all of us we got two dates we got one we were born and we came into this world and we got one that we’re gonna leave

And the most important thing on that headstone is that that little Dash mark that’s the life that you spend making an impact in somebody’s life and I can say that that brother did that wholeheartedly and I don’t look as this day as because I know where he’s at

I know he’s with my father so I don’t say this as goodbye what I say is I’ll see you in the morning my brother and so I know one thing about where I’m going and where I hope all of you going to be absent from this body means I’m present with the Lord

And so as the chief I like to say this my department stands ready and willing to be with this family and you will be part of our family forever now we have members of It’s 2 000 of us right now but we have retirees here we have so many people here that Caitlyn

Made such an impact in their lives I saw our old captain that every time it seemed that me and Kayla when we had a fire it was me and him on the roof and Caitlin I’m like hey let’s get out of this thing and he’s cutting the hole

And I’m like Caitlin Kayla let’s go let’s go but he’s still smiling and I could see it through his face piece but but I just remember him when I remember the the kind Spirit he had and how he loved people and once he loved you and

Once he got to know you there was no other person that could just brighten up a room like Caitlyn could he made a such an impact in our recruiting section um it goes without saying that he’s probably recruited hundreds of thousands of the members that you see before you that ride these

Apparatuses and that’s all because of some of the hard work that he did let alone how many times he served on an ambulance or put out a fire or help someone that was having a medical emergency that was Kayla and that’s the Caitlyn I remember now I asked that all the members from

Dallas fire rescue and any member of the public safety family to please stand as we present the family with some articles and after that we’ll take our seat foreign no people said amen let’s give these these uh men and women of Round of Applause and thanks [Applause]

Certainly the job that Caitlyn did as As A Firefighter as a first responder as part of that uh uh Peace Keeping and uh Community uh has been a blessing to all of us whether we’ve had to directly experience it or not and we are grateful for for them they hold a special place

In my heart because my brother just retired from as a firefighting paramedic about three four years ago after some 40 years of service and he has there was never a time that I knew he was out there that I didn’t worry about him coming back home and so I understand exactly how how

Coins felt I’m grateful for this opportunity to have this time of expression and uh and this time just let the corn family know how much I love them how much I appreciate them and how much uh the joy they brought to my heart for those of you who don’t know

Who I am I am Reverend Gerald Britt I was Caitlyn’s first pastor and if you uh at new Mount Moriah Baptist Church if you look at those pictures that they’re playing on the on the screen the one where Caitlyn is less filled out has no hair on his face

And shorter than everybody else from that time on from the time Caleb was nine years old by the time he went off to college I was his pastor and it and the Cohen family was a joy to serve Chief imagine the fact imagine for 22 years having that experience of going

To comfort the coins and having Gloria turn around and comfort you uh you you think you know everything do you get around people like that and I appreciate so much the joy that she brought to my uh brought to my own uh so Marion was uh was one of my

Deacons Marion senior was one of my deacons and one of my most faithful Deacons uh just just a brief story about how we came to know one another when I was a young man and when I say young man I mean I was barely out of my teens

I I thought I was in love amen with a young lady and and I was going to get her a promise ring Jeff and uh those of you who know what a promise ring is I can hear from the murmuring that y’all know what I’m talking about

And so I went to Zales in North Park to buy a promise ring and and and and Marion Cohen sold me the promise ring some years later and a couple of girlfriends later I was actually in love and so uh and so I I went to North Park to buy the

Wedding ring and didn’t go to Zales this time I went to corriguez and went to court because I was going to do it a big this time yeah I went to Corrigan’s and Marion Cohen was working a coin according and he sold me the wedding ring

And so and so Marion and Gloria before we were members of new Mount Moriah before they even knew us well they Marin went to school with my dad but that’s about as far as he knew they because we were young and broke they helped us put together the web

Paid for the cake I love carrot cake now because that was the kind of wedding cake it was and pay for the cake and help pay for the dresses and pay for everything and and they just barely knew us uh sometime after that my uh father who

Pastored here in Dallas asked me to go and preach for him at a church for an annual youth day it was an annual service that he usually preached but he wanted to give me that experience and so I went over to new Mount Moriah to preach their annual Youth Day and

When I got there Marion Cohen was one of the Deacons at new Mountain ride and so our interactions went on from that when I was later called to serve as pastor’s new Mount Moriah Marion was the one who took me all the town introducing me to everybody he know knew

Which was considerable as his pastor and his family became part of our family and his his sons and daughter uh Nyla became almost surrogate children for us and we grew them we we when I when I talk about uh though that generation of children who grew up under my leadership I always

Now they’re all now in there early for late 40s and 50s but I still refer to them as my kids and I appreciate the type of men and women that they’ve become it’s not surprising to me that mayor that Kaelyn shows a life of service and worship

Uh every one of these pastors now I heard somebody referred to Kalyn as and the coins of the church family uh y’all owe us a debt of gratitude you you you are you are you are reaping the fruit of our Lady because what was in them was what we

Helped put in them and what grew in them and what made what they maintained uh through their own faithfulness and through their own love of God and so that that worship and that servant servant heart is what you see that we tried to put in them and try to help

Them maintain throughout their lives and so and so my pride my love my joy my affection uh my my uh gratitude for the experience of loving and having the opportunity to serve the corn family uh is profound and and and so is the depth of grief and

Sorrow right now because because we we look at times like these and we look at uh people like Marin and I mean uh I’m sorry Kayla and we figured that they ought to be with us forever that they ought to be around to bury us that time

That that time in its kindness should be kind to them but but but that’s that’s our fault because we don’t take seriously what the word says and we don’t take seriously what we’ve been saying to others I told my mother not too long ago I said you

Know when when we were younger we kept saying you know we’re not going to be around here always and that we didn’t come to stay and we meant that for somebody else amen y’all get that after a while we meant that for somebody else we didn’t know that applied to us

None of us came here to stay and so as we began to look at life we the best thing we can do is maintain our love and our faithfulness to the God we serve amen Paul said it best I fought a good fight I kept the faith I finished the course

None of us know how long our course is but however long it is we have to maintain we make sure we finish it in faithfulness the story that I’m through about the uh about a young man who had this little boat that he had received for his birthday he went out took the

Boat on the lake and when he put the boat on the lake the boat went out so far that he couldn’t get it couldn’t reach it couldn’t swim out that far and so he he went home Sorrowing because he’d lost this vote and when you lost the boat he went home

Crying and the next day he was going down the street past this pawn shop looked in the window the pawn shop and saw his boat and so he went in and told the told the proprietor he said that’s my boat I want that and he said no it’s my boat now if

You want it you don’t have to buy it back and the young man asked how much it cost for Pride I told them he went out and began to do all sorts of the large jobs cut yards took out trash excuse me all sorts of little odd jobs

So that he could raise the money to buy his boat and so when he got the money he went to the store he bought the boat walked out the store caressing the little boat and he said he was heard to say as he walked down the street he said your mind twice now

Once because I made it now because I bought you amen that’s calum’s story and the reason for his faithfulness he belonged to the Lord twice once because he made it second time the cause he bought him thank you amen now that was powerful there I want to thank all of you for giving

Your remarks and the encouraging remarks as we move forward now we uh we’ll be honored with a solo I believe there’s a correction to the program solo is coming down from Sister Rhonda Francis as I would affectionately call him Todd and he’d say Ron Honor the Lord today if the Lord never does anything else for me he’s done enough if the Lord never makes another way from me please He blessed me once he blessed me twice Well the law it’s been good to me And it made many ways for me He’s been good to me Everything in my life Walk me He’s done enough he’s not enough he’s done enough foreign He’s done enough The Lord have mercy not as one of those times I wish I didn’t have good training but I’m Thomas amen look at him feels up to me it’d be preaching time All right we’re up down to the part of the program it says we’re going to read it says reading of the obituary and it said to be read silently I’m gonna tell you how we’re gonna do this I want everybody to take the program you

Amen real God-fearing Brothers amen we had a lot of conversations with them back and forth amen over the last three weeks amen and with God so fit now we Brothers amen I thank God for allowing them yeah man them adopting me Amen to be their brother amen so let’s give our uh

Undivided attention to them while they come uh first I give an honor to God who’s ahead of My Life Dr King Bishop Thomas uh Reverend bread Pastor Mitchell pastor King guy I feel good I’m almost about to ask Dan to give me a track so I can sing um

Roderick say don’t do it uh just want to say thank you to everybody um you know for all your kindness you know this is a difficult time but for those of us who love the Lord and we we understand that we all you know will pass this way so um

One of the things I spoke last night I said I wasn’t going to speak but since they let me they shouldn’t let me go first so you know uh you know because I have many stories about Kailyn and I give you this one you know put some

Laughter in here so a couple of weeks ago I walked in Caitlyn’s house and I had braids I know you all looking at me like what and uh yeah I had cornrows and everything and you know you had his glasses he just looked you know and uh

You know I’m gonna miss that little dude because he was always you know he was he would get on my nerves because he was always pinching me on the side asking me when was I gonna have that baby and now I don’t think I’ve gotten that big uh

But you know as you can see um very comical you know we laugh you know we joke and that’s one of the things that we’ve always done um throughout our life and I thank God you know for allowing me to be here his entire life to 49 years so um

Now that he’s gone I’m gonna have to find somebody else to talk about so I uh I don’t know who I’m gonna talk about next but you know so if you get a phone call you know somebody’s on the list because that’s what we do but um

I just want to say uh you know we’re very thankful um very honored also you know I don’t know if the fire department takes people at 54 but I want to put in the application I just love the way they do things but I’m allowing my brothers to speak because you know I

Can go a whole nother way with this [Applause] giving all Praises God our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Pastor Marcus King Pastor Eric my pastor T.L Mitchell Bishop Jeff Thomas and Reverend Britt Marcus and Eric King can’t say enough about y’all I appreciate y’all taking the time to come to the house

And uh just let us know that DC3 was always open to us and Eric you’re right you’re one of our brothers now yeah but to all the pastors all y’all have been great to us and we appreciate that as a family I uh I’m not really lost for words at any

Time but today I really am Caitlyn was the best little brother that we could ever hope for our dad my mom always taught us to be close and we remain that way throughout life and uh anybody who knows us know we’re close in their family and know if you

Mess with one coin you got a problem where Kailyn was the best little brother we always all of us try to always protect cable you know we always try to protect cable and we did Kayla knew we loved him and he knew that yeah he knew that we loved

Him and we knew he loved us you know our confidence is just knowing that Kayla was saved you know many of us we got baptized as babies because you know we grew up in a Baptist Church and that’s what that’s what Baptist people do um but Caitlyn rededicated his life

After joining DC3 he was baptized as an adult and I just loved that you know we knew Caleb loved the Lord we know he sleeps in his presence and that is our comfort but we we miss him so much on this side Kalyn and I used to talk I

Taking the time out to come and share with us today the celebration of Kayla’s life to the Dallas Fire Department Chief artists I can’t say enough all of you guys all of you guys Mark Greg I called you guys the morning I got over there did happen and I knew you

Guys would be right there and you were uh Chief artist came over Dale Elaine Maddox we met her back when Kayla’s first accident happened in 2010 great I can’t say enough about you um but Jackie Webb Jackie Webb Jackie Webb is truly doing what God has

Put on Earth to do she has been Head Over Heels there for us in every every facet anytime we call Jackie you know she’s right there whatever we needed she’s there even when we did anything she was calling us so we just want you guys to

Know that we are eternally grateful as a family for you guys just wanted to say that publicly my brothers of Omega sci-fi what can I say last night was overwhelming today is overwhelming I love you all Caitlyn loves you all Chris loves you all but I just wanted to acknowledge all publicly

Just everybody who’s prayed for us who sent flowers Texas calls we just can’t thank you enough and I’ll move on but I just have to acknowledge one more person and that is our mother our mother is the soldier yup she can be she can be stubborn at times but you

Know that is our Rock when our dad was in the hospital he was in the hospital for a year and three weeks before he passed our mother was there every day from morning until night I’m talking about late at night we’d be like Mama come on we gotta go I got to work

Tomorrow we’d have to make her go down to the cafeteria and eat and and uh you know she was there only time she ever left the hospital was when she was going to get her hair done and she come right back right back but he was in the hospital a

Year and three weeks and she was she was there every day until the day our dad passed you know my mother would bathe him and put her concoction of lotions oils and all her skin was so smooth I mean really I mean that that says a lot and even

When Kalyn had his accident he was in hospital almost a year every day every day so we love her to death wouldn’t trade anything for thank you guys and God bless you [Applause] won’t be before you long um asking my brothers I said more than that I am but nevertheless protocol has

Been established and I want to thank publicly y’all Pastor Kings and Pastor Kings uh Reverend Reverend Britt married me so we have a long history but in my Pastor’s house in Washington DC Bishop Michael Vernon Kelsey senior I do want to extend my gratitude for him for the

Support of him as well as my DC Family Church I just stand before you today being the oldest um there’s a different weight as men carry weight there’s a different weight that comes with a sibling Caitlyn was born on the 24th of March this month he would have been 50 years

Old the ironic thing is he was born on the 1973 on a Saturday we’re celebrating his homegoing on a Saturday the first month the first day the first Saturday of March so I’m grateful but more than that my brother touched on it in 2010 Kailyn after uh being here in church

Service he said he was sitting in his Corvette and he said God asked him do you want to live or do you want to die see most people don’t know that story so Caitlin answered the call I want to live now shortly after there he was baptized correct right after that

He had a tragic motorcycle accident which caused him a major TBI so he was in the hospital so when I say a major TBI and I’m ex-military he couldn’t do anything he could walk he could talk he couldn’t lift his hands he couldn’t do anything the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity

Incorporated and also the men and women of the Dallas fire department and police department were there and Faithfully daily bringing our parents and our family food and every conference they could bring and also DC3 so there’s a thing when I got the news on the 13th that my brother was gone

I just I didn’t know what to do I Was preparing to go to my daughter’s second grade promotion ceremony at school so I had to sit through her program and on the other side I had to think that I just got the news that my baby is gone

My baby brother everybody called he was the baby and so uh but God gave me Comfort he told me he said when you thought I was going to take it I didn’t so he gave an additional 13 years to get it right that Caitlyn served you can ask anybody

Here at DC3 on Sunday the 12th he served the men up he served as an usher doing his door he had praise and worship he came home he had dinner with Mama fixed her plate they sat down and talked like they normally do watch the little Super Bowl

But then also on Monday God allowed Caitlyn to wake up so he didn’t just take it Caleb woke up he had shout he had shaved his brushed his teeth he was on putting his uniform on in fact he had most of his uniform on getting ready to go to work but one

Thing that I remember at Chief said I I wrote out had a chance to ride out with him and Greg at 49 The Rock Caleb that was the last station that he served at he was 49 when God took him that was the last station that he served

And that was the last station so what I’m saying is and I’m wrapping it up on the 13th that last bell ring and he answered the call he answered the call that all of us have to answer what we need to understand is are we going to be ready when that bell rings

For us if you don’t leave here with nothing else then you remember nothing that we said get your life right get to know the father and make sure when that bell rings and it’s your time to go that you’re ready and prepared God bless you all thank you

In my life and sometimes it’s hard to see the night from day but still hope that lies within is real sure Prepared But he the storms don’t see Keep on blowing in my life my has been made So the songs of life and sometimes it’s hard to tell the night from death Still the hope that lies within things In my eyes They won’t see In my life I know sometimes sometimes those songs you will be tossed Please So they won’t sleep Myself Can’t think of the things Say Ing I’m outside So say easy Come on if you’re safe in his arms put your hands together and give God praise right there here’s what I want you to know if you came to have worship today because Kailyn wasn’t walking around sad he was smiling can somebody put their hands together and smile

Because your God is still good come on somebody put your hands together and give God praise in this place today now that’s good enough for me telling you but once you do it because God’s been good to you right now is there anybody that God has been good to in this place My goodness listen we’re so grateful that we have the opportunity to be here walking with this family on this great day and we thank God for this Cohen family mom thank you very much for the opportunity to serve you and serve this wonderful family on these wonderful

Brothers who are my brothers as well and we thank God for you and this wonderful family on this wonderful day and so we also want to thank every person who has served and led us on this day I do want to make sure I give a shout out to our

Church more importantly uh specifically should I say our pastoral care team led by Pastor Eric King can we give God praise it’s it’s been a busy season we’ve had about seven funerals in the last three weeks so we want to make sure that we cover those who help cover us somebody say Amen

So we have come today I want to also thank God for these wonderful pastors who are here who’ve been acknowledged and we thank God for their presence we always want to make sure we do that and everybody who’s on program and everybody who’s in the house today if God is good

Somebody shout hallelujah listen we are so excited I got excited Pastor Jeff Thomas because I saw all these people in church and uh services at 9 30 in the morning too we love to have you in the house of the Lord amen listen um it was requested that we have church

Today somebody said amen and I think we can handle that assignment we’ve been having service and been having worship and we want to make sure we keep in contact with God during this time uh this is a wonderful day it is March the 4th uh 2023. I do want to uh

Acknowledge this wonderful woman who allowed me to be here today uh because March the 4th is my wedding anniversary and so I had to ask permission for my wife to be able to do this funeral today now here’s what you got to know because these preachers know uh that’s a good

Thing when you’ve lived a good life and treated to Pastor right because she lets me come and preach the homegoing celebration of brother Kalin and so when you’ve been mean to the pastor we might have been on vacation today Kailyn was here we always messing with each other and so I’m like Caitlin I’m able to do your service today but it cost me a trip I’m out of some bread but you worth it my man you worth it somebody give a hand if you know he’s worth it today And so we’re glad to be in the house of the Lord I wanted to also marrying you saying about those numbers uh the the original funeral wasn’t going to be on this date because we were trying to get everything organized and set forth and end up

Moving to March the 4th and so I believe God is always being prophetic with us and I believe Kailyn left a message for all of us and I believe that message is written in the date of the day that if you’re worried about anything in your life get up and March full

March 4 look at somebody say March 4th I want to lift up a title today based from our passage of scripture in the book of Isaiah Isaiah chapter 41 looking at verse 10 today I’ll be reading for the New Living Translation and we thank God for the word of God and when you

Have an opportunity please get an opportunity to check that out in your own reading I also want to give praise to I don’t know what your rank is now Mark because you’re going to have 50 promotions since I’ve known you I’m gonna call you brother Barry the morning

That uh kalinette transitioned to be with the Lord I got the call not too long after he had passed and I thank God for brother Barry let’s give God praise for him for being there with the family and so many others Isaiah 41 verse 10 reads this way for

The New Living Translation don’t be afraid for I Am With You don’t be discouraged for I am your God I will strengthen you and help you I will hold you up with my Victorious right hand I was afraid about what to share today Lord I just gave me three words that I

Want to share with this family today and those needing encouragement those three words are our trust in God could you help me with that look at your name and say trust in God father we thank you for this date thank you for being so kind thank you for being so faithful

We know that we can’t do anything without you but we can move mountains with you we thank you right now for this moment we thank you for your word and how it encourages us and directs us and we ask right now that you speak to us and through us

So by the time we leave this place today I trust in you will have grown exponentially it’s in Jesus name we pray all God’s people said amen and amen look at somebody say trust in God amen amen as I told you today is March the 4th

And if we’re going to trust in God we need to understand what March 4th means March 4th uh means to move forward it means to do something it means don’t just stay stagnant with your life it means that you ought to get up and find out what you’re supposed to do

And then start heading in that direction achieve something great make sure you find out and fulfill your purpose and we think about Kailyn we know that’s what kalin’s life was all about as we look at this passage of scripture today and we understand that Isaiah is

The prophet and as we look at this we understand that he was a prophet and he was a prophet to God’s children Israel Israel had been going through ups and downs with God God loved his children but God’s children were sometimes babies kids they would sometimes do what God called them to do

And then when they were doing what God called them to do here’s what happened things were going well then they would begin to drift away from God and as we say they began to drift away from God they would get in trouble and God would come and rescue them now you know the

Prayer that they prayed that we prayed many times Lord if you get me out of this this time I promise some of y’all sitting beside you been doing that a long time if you get me out of this this last time and here we are in chapter 41 and God

Has come to the rescue once again we understand that there’s an enemy there are enemies that are coming up on uh Israel the enemies all around Israel and what God wants to do in Isaiah 41 is remind Israel that he is the god who doesn’t change on people God doesn’t

Change on Those whom he loves as a matter of fact a God is saying I am a trustworthy God if you can’t trust in nobody else you can trust in me as a matter of fact we see here in Isaiah chapter 41 now in verse 10 and we see in

Verse 10 God gives three things somebody say three things God gives three reasons Isaiah is prophesying and speaking to the children of Israel and said God has given three reasons why you can trust in God I know you got things up against you I know things don’t always seem like

They’re going the way you want to but at the end of the day you have three reasons here in verse 10 where you can trust in God and we look at this today and we see in verse 10 reason number one Pastor Thomas we see is that God promises to be present

God promises to be present if you don’t believe me verse 10 says Don’t Be Afraid for I am with you oh my god what what Isaiah is saying God is saying is that hey I know uh if God says Don’t Be Afraid usually there may be a reason

You might need to be afraid but what God is saying here in the text is what Isaiah is saying is uh God has already set the stage to remind you he can be trusted so the first thing we need to do is make sure that fear doesn’t control

This moment in your life don’t be afraid don’t don’t fear for I am with you I’m with you I’m with you and what what that mean is God says I’m present even when other folk get absence I’m present with you I’m I’m present with you and and

Here’s what I want this family to know today uh I know Kailyn is no longer here on this side because we recognize that funerals are really not for those who transition it’s for those who’ve been left alive Caden has left his life left his physical life and transitioned on to

Glory and here we are left here to make sure that Caitlyn wants to let us know today by the life he lived that God’s promises can be trusted God can be trusted and here’s the deal and when other people have walked away here’s what God is saying today God says I

Promise to be present I promise to be with you I promise to be present in your trials because there’s going to be some trials that’s still going to go on in your life I promise to be with you in your grief because grief will sneak up

On you grief will hold you hostage grief will make you keep the shades down and the blinds close they want to be by yourself and not be bothered by anywhere by anybody grief will end up trying to choke your life out and make you feel like when they died you died but God

Said at the end of the day they may be gone but I am still here presence and I ain’t just saying it that’s a promise I promise that I’ll be with you when the funeral is over I’ll be with you when the when the casket drops I’ll be with you when they

Finish eating up the chicken and the potato salad and the Kool-Aid I’ll be with you when they get back to their busy lives because at the end of the day people have things to do but at the end of the day I got things to do and that’s to be with my children

And I walk with them I’ll talk with them God promises to be present premises to be present I don’t plan on being before you long but but then there’s something else and we see here in the text and not only does God promise to be present Isaiah said God promises his peace

And God promises his peace that that first part says don’t be afraid for I am with you then he says don’t be discouraged another translation says be not dismaged for I am your god oh I don’t know I don’t know what you get excited about when I hear

That I get excited uh what what he’s saying is uh God promises his peace but but to arrive uh at walking in that peace there’s a mindset that must be established there are some things there are some protocols that must come in play if we’re going to walk

In that kind of peace and what what Isaiah is saying is he says God says be not dismayed be not dismayed and what be not this made means when you look at it in in text it means this it means uh don’t be in such all and don’t be in such

Amazement of the enemies Israel that are coming up on your life don’t be such amazement of the challenges and and the trials and the tests that you’re about to face or that are facing you even right now he says that’s what it means to be dismayed because what

Discouragement means is to lose heart it means to faint he says listen I I don’t want you to fear but then also don’t want you to faint because at the end of the day sometimes things may look big to you and seem like you can’t overcome it

Pain may rise and seem larger than life and seem like there’s no way that you’re going to make it through this moment or through this season and somebody came here today Kayla’s not your brother Kayla’s not your son but you got to thinking about your own family you got

To think about your own cousin your own Mama matter of fact it was hard for you to come but you came because you wanted to show support to somebody else and I want to let you know that God sees you too God understands and what the what the

Protocol is he says first of all God says I know you can be in all of a lot of things but here’s what I want you to do I don’t want you to be in awe of anything but me because when you end up seeing how large I am in your life

You’ll tell your small problems about your big God and when you get close to me when you talk to me when you call out to me in your dark times you’ll recognize that when you call I’ll come answer and I’ll come closer to you and the closer I get the smaller your challenges

And the pain in your life becomes because you’re recognize that even though Kalyn can’t be here even though things may not change here’s what you’ll know that you’ll have peace that I am still here with you and I’m the same God that’s present but I’m not saying God who’s going to

Give you peace somebody shout peace in the house right now and here’s why you ought to be able to be at peace because he says in that text I am your God oh my goodness God says I’m a personal God I’m a personal God and here’s why I’m a

Personal God because I formed you and you’re the only one that has your fingerprints in this world you’re the only one that has a special relationship with me like you have and here’s what I want you to understand five people can go through the same thing and experience

It different ways and that’s why you can’t let anybody tell you how to grieve through your situation that’s why you can’t tell this person they ought to be over that by now that’ll be moving by now you don’t have the same relationship that I have with Caitlyn you don’t have

The same relationship that a mama has with her son you don’t have the same relationship that her older brother and a middle brother and a younger brother you don’t have the same trials that you’ve been through because this family their father is gone and then they also

Lost a sister and now a brother now a brother and they’re still holding on to God’s unchanging hands you can’t do that unless you don’t understand you got a personal God I wish I had somebody who had a purse to know Jesus he knows how to talk to you when you’re going through

You don’t have to use words like nobody else sometimes he’ll just rock you in the Midnight Hour sometimes he’ll just bring up a smile by reminding you of a thought that was going on just between you and Kailyn because God is a person of God anybody know he’s a personal God in this

House and so he says listen when you do that I know how to give you peace in the midst of the storm I know how to give you peace in the midst of your grief I know how to give your peace six months from now when when

When when you should be falling apart when other people have gone through some of the same stuff you’re going through I can put peace in your heart that a tear will come down your eye down your face but you’ll still have joy because you recognize Kayla knew the Lord Jesus Christ

And see here’s the deal we don’t weep as those who have no hope You Weep as you don’t have any hope because you don’t know where somebody’s going but we know what Kailyn is and when you know what somebody is they’re not lost they just gotta transfer to another station

I wish I had somebody right now he just got transferred and and here he says God will promise his peace but then finally the only what God promised his presence so you can trust in God not only with God promise his his peace when you trust in

God I heard a preacher over there I already gave it God promises his power somebody shout power when you look at this text it says God says don’t be afraid for I’m with you don’t be discouraged if I am your God but then he says let me show you what he

Says he says I will strengthen you I will help you I will uphold you with my righteous right hand my Victorious right hand I I want to let you know that God says I will God says I will he he tells Israel if nobody can’t help you through this

If you’re asking yourself the question how you gonna make it he says don’t look any further then The God Who says he’s present don’t look any further Than The God Who promises peace don’t look any further than the god who’s in partnership with you on a day-to-day basis

Because I recognize Israel you’re going to feel powerless recognize Cohen family you’re going to feel powerless matter of fact you felt powerless when you found out the news you’ve been powerless since you’ve been walking through planning a funeral and even right now you you know God is

Good you know God has power but but but but there’s nothing you can do to bring Kaelyn back oh I know we know he where he is but there’s still The Human Side to say I wish God would give us a little more time with him but you’re powerless you can’t do

Anything about that God says I know how you feel but I want to let you know you’re gonna have some good days and you’re gonna have some challenging days and I won’t let you know on your good days imma hold you up when you’re able to hold yourself up

When you’re able to go to work with a smile when you’re able to get on your motorcycle when you’re able to go hang with your friends when you’re able to pray and everything is right when you’re able to confess and praise God I’m gonna be right there with you

But even on those weekdays because they’re going to be some weekdays and you’ve been through some weekdays but but every every death is different and there are some week days that are going to come your way but God promises here don’t worry about being weak not only will I give you strength

But I’ll be your strength okay what God is saying is when you don’t have it in you call on me I know how to empower you on the inside call on me because sometimes you might need to stay at home that day to get your mental health together call on me

Don’t let nobody judge you and tell you you’re taking too long call on me because sometimes you’re going to call one another and that ain’t gonna do it for you sometimes you’re gonna call your friend and that ain’t gonna do it for you sometimes you’re gonna call your

Prayer partner and that won’t do it to do it for you but I’m a personal God and I know how to give strength that nobody else can give I wish I had somebody here right now who knew there’s some stuff I went through only me and God had to walk through that’s

Why David had to say yay though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death and then David says I fear no evil you know I said it because God is with me my rod my staff they comfort me do I have anybody in the house today that

Knows God knows how to give you power I wish I had about five people who could testify that you’ve been through some bad choice bad situations and God was the one who ended up raising you up I thought I had had about four more people here right now who can testify say I

Know what you’re talking about because there were some times I thought it was all over for me and I know the Lord and I know how to pray and I know how to worship but my heart got so broken and life got so dark I didn’t know which way to go but then

The Lord stepped in and he strengthened me and told me you can make it another day if you know somebody like that go ahead and give God praise that God is a powerful God well I’m out your way right now but mama I got to thinking about

Kayla’s life a little bit Kailyn was a servant as a son Kalyn was a servant as a brother as a friend and Omega but also a fireman and a faithful Usher in the house of the Lord and a servant in his church in many ways he participated on his last Sunday right in

Church making sure everybody had what they needed and then he he ended up uh on his last time walking out the doors I saw him when he walked out he did what he normally does speaking to everybody on his way out and then he just walks on with that little cool stroke High yellow card that he has looking cool then and being Kalyn like I mean I mean everybody know he was a cube but he tried to act like a Capper when he was in church acting all cool but we know you know how to step boy we know you can’t be a dog

Unless you got some dog in you am I talking to somebody right now Kalyn was low-key but he also had a chance to love on God goes home and loves on his mama I began to Remember Mama the conversation we had when we were with the family at the

House and here’s what happened Roderick mama said that when she saw Kailyn his last time he had worked out that morning and then he went in and got ready for work and when she came in she she didn’t hear nothing and she found him and he

Had his work clothes on but she said she looked at him and as he said mama mama said that when she looked at Kayla he called his name and he didn’t answer but he had a smile on his face and he looked at peace but she feel he was all

Felt he was already gone I wasn’t there Mama but can I tell you cause I know my God and I know your God and here’s what I believe I believe because I have faith that an angel may have shown up after Kailyn took care of this body by working

It out one last time I believe that the angel watched Kalyn make up his bed one last time I believe that the angel let him begin to put his work clothes on one last time to go get to serve somebody one last time but before Kailyn was able

To grab his keys before Kailyn would be able to get up and walk out that door here’s what I believe that an angel might have said to Kailyn Kalin you don’t have to finish getting dressed though you won’t need those clothes anymore where are you going you don’t

Need to dress like that you did a great job making up that bed but you won’t need that kind of rest no more you did a great job but you don’t need those keys to that car no more you did a great job but you don’t need to travel like that

No more and you were a recruiter in your last assignment you recruited well and you served well but you had your final run on Earth right now but the Lord has made a call from Heaven do I have somebody else I believe the angel said Kailyn okay Lynette leave those clothes

And get ready to make an exchange give me that uniform and change it for a role give me that helmet and change it for a crown give me those boots exchange them for some shoes leave your bed and come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden and I

Will give you rest do I have somebody else okay Lynn it’s time to clock out on this side it’s time to clock out on this side and it’s time to clock in on the other side do I have somebody in your outside right now somebody say hallelujah your job Caitlin it still

Ain’t done Noah when you leave here’s what I want you to do you recruited on Earth to get people on the fire and put out fires up but I want you on the day of your death I I want you on the day of your funeral to still recruiter on Earth

You recruited us to put fires out in debt you’re going with true time to save them from the fires of hell do I have somebody else in the house today who can give God praise if you know God is still a good God and you can trust in God look

At your neighbor say neighbor oh neighbor neighbor oh neighbor God is feel good I believe God can still save us because he’s saved somebody like me there is a song that says Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound get saved arrest like me I want one loss out but now I’m found

Blind but now I see you but here’s the part I think Caitlyn like us because he went through rexa he went through problems he went through challenges but he made it to the other side he looked back at us as they threw many through many many through many many through many

Many calls instead of I have already come it was grace that brought me this far and can I tell you what Kayla was saying while he was on this side when life got rough when life got tougher and when they run out of word say praise God praise God praise God foreign

I believe in God because Jesus lived died and rose again and Kalyn is still recruiting he’s still recruiting he’s still recruiting because the Bible says what prophet a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul there’s a fire y’all can’t put out it’s two

One you can’t put out the fires of hell two if you get saved and Jesus coming to your life there’s a fire Kingdom nobody could put out this on the inside of your life Jeremiah said it’s like fire shut up I was somebody new about the fire do I have anybody right now

There’s a fire on the inside Kayla wants everybody to have that can’t be cleansed he’s recruiting today he’s recruiting today because he recognized that all dogs don’t go to heaven only saved ones he’s recruiting today he’s recruiting today that you can do all the stepping you want to do

But you ain’t a real dog till you stepped in Jesus name I would say am I he’s recruiting today because if you want to have the power that Caitlyn had you want to have the peace that Caitlyn has see one thing I know about Kayla when he came to me

On in 2010 on a Wednesday he wasn’t playing it was a special baptism day because you do it on Thursday him and and Rick I thought you know uh Rick Frazier they both came and they wanted to be baptized to me baptized them Caitlyn had a wreck two days later

Caitlin didn’t even look like he’s supposed to been here God gave them 13 years of overtime Caitlyn worked those 13 years of overtime without pay on this Earth for payday’s coming on the other side so so here’s my plea to you my plea to you is this

Doesn’t matter how much money you have no matter where you come from no matter how many stripes you have we all have to go this way what would it be if you saved everybody else’s life and loves yours the good part is we have a first responder he didn’t slide down a pole

But he slid down to a crib Mary’s baby died on the cross For your sins and mine if you want to know the god of Kailyn if you want to know the power of the god of saint of Caitlyn and and his savior here’s what I’m asking you to do here’s what I’m ask you to do if you bold enough to get on the house

And put out a fire you’re broad enough to kick down doors you ought to be bold enough man and woman enough except Jesus Christ so here’s here’s what I’m offering you not offering religion religion can’t save you I can’t save you this church can’t save you but Jesus he’s a Wonder

In my soul so here’s what I’m gonna do I’m gonna ask everybody sit down and if you want to leave her today and say I want to be sure that when I close my eyes and when they hand my mama to ask and when they come and fill up a

Sanctuary on my behalf I’m sure I know where I’m going because I’m right with my God and if you’re not sure about that today I want you to be a soldier in the army of the Lord what it mean everybody shout relationship that means I just want my relationship right with Christ

Is a picture of the Bell that you see here today which represents the call to service that Caitlyn was willing to answer on the opposite side of the coin you will see the image of John Clark the first firefighter killed in the line of duty in the Dallas fire rescue Department

This coin represents the service and sacrifice exhibited throughout the career of driver engineer Kalyn Cohen and at this time who would like for the following individuals to receive the coin but like his mother Cohen remained seated and would like for the brothers Roderick Marion and Chris to stand please to receive the coin

Honor guard good fine details poke tradition is Paramount within the fire departments everywhere and the last alarm Bell is the ultimate tribute to a firefighter’s career the alarm Bell began back in Dallas in an area called the old red courthouse downtown where a bell tower was established to call volunteer firefighters to service

When ignited Ford dedicated people on horses would ride north south east and west and until they could no longer hear the Bell at which time they would draw their pistols and they would fire five consecutive shots in the air when responding the firefighters would ring their Bell mounted on their

Horse-drawn carriages to acknowledge reception of the request foreign as the fire department upgraded the Bell was removed from the horse-drawn carriages to the motorized fire apparatuses only to be replaced by the siren but due to the bell’s tradition its existence continued by being installed in each fire station to alert firefighters

And it became known as the house bill some of you may recall having a phone conversation with a firefighter at the station who would have to end the conversation because the house bill was sounded there have been many things that have changed over the years but the Bell is a staple tradition of

Fire departments worldwide and we bring with us today the last alarm Bell and we ring it as a tribute to the careers of firefighters who have passed away and today we will pay tribute to the life and career of driver engineer Kalin Cohen our tribute consists of two Bell signals

That were initially implemented on the fire grounds the first signal is one one which when sounded everyone at the fire scene realized that that meant the fire was officially out the second signal is six six which was sounded after cleanup and it signified to the firefighters a job well done

And that the firefighters could return to their respective fire stations today the ringing of signal one one is God’s alert that the many many fires of Life have been officially put out for Kailyn Cohen signal six six will reflect God’s approval of a job well done and his invitation

To be joined in the Heavenly quarters that have been prepared and I would like to interject that we we haven’t lost Kalin because no one is lost if you know where they are and at this time we would like to request that all active and retired First Responders and military personnel please stand

It unsafe for you as well so stay in a straight line stay behind directly behind each other at a safe distance and the most important thing about this safety briefing is if you have an emergency always pull to your right never to the left because the motorcycle
