I personally received a little bit of a conviction in my prayer this morning and um it’s because of the example of King David he’s such such an important person in the Old Testament and in today’s reading but in so many moments in King David’s life he was um being pursued so Saul was
The first king and Saul was not a good King he’s a number of times pursues David to kill him and yet David refus David could have killed him right that cave they they know where that cave is you can go and visit that cave and uh again and again and again David refuses
To kill Saul and you you would have thought he would have been justified in self-defense you know that Saul is pursuing him he’s hiding out and then even later in life King David’s son Absalon comes after him and David has to leave and as David is you know leaving
He tells his men do not kill my son Absalon well they killed him anyways and when David finds out about it he’s so upset and um it’s like King David has this reverence for the office of the king he says I will not touch the king’s

Pope to the bishop to the pastor you know to the president to the okay Governor mayor you know that that reverence for the office um even this list of the 12 apostles Mark is so emphatic he wants us to know that Jesus chose the ones he wanted it’s an
Interesting detail like this wasn’t like a haard haphazard decision Jesus chooses these 12 and uh in the midst of the 12 we’ve got Judas who betrayed him and there’s always been that question why did the Lord call him him did not the Lord know that this guy was a scallywag you know
