When was it the night before no I think they they’d opened it was when the Obi-Wan can Kenobi series Obi-Wan caneri that’s that’s the spin-off that you don’t know about that’s his cousin no spoilers Obi-Wan caneri um and his mission to two to1 he has like a little bird that the
Story of the bird right that’s right little laser sword what was I saying so we went um we went we’d gone to Anaheim to the Celebration where they showed the first couple of episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi some of you might have been there it was fantastic I mean it was so
Exciting to be amongst all the people and see on the big screen and then the next day I it was the first time I’d I’d done a a a ComicCon I’d had never done one before and I just thought well I’m in Anaheim and it was celebration I
Thought I’m going to do it and see what see what it’s like and I did it and I and I realized I liked it and that’s why I’m still doing the music so um because it’s awful nice to meet you yeah uh it’s really nice so but that next day
We had some time and we went to Disney so we went I no it was that night I can’t remember we went at night and we were just like me and Mary walking around you know with a cap on and we just about got away with it we didn’t
Get just in the in the public yeah oh my gosh yeah but I hadn’t seen it before so if those people know knew that you were just wandering around I I caught a couple of people’s eye you know and I was like yeah yeah you you’re talking about um going
To conventions obviously you’re meeting a ton of people Orlando there’s a ton of not only Star Wars fans but Star Wars collectors right they collect lightsabers and and different items from the movies both real and then fabricated by artists and Artisans what what’s the most unique unique thing that you’ve
Gotten this weekend has something stood out to you um in terms of a prop or an item or or a Fan Experience exactly I just well i’ there’s an awful lot of nice fan art that we see while we’re signing uh or while we’re taking photographs with people um yeah there
Was some nice there was there’s always nice I just like when young people have done drawings you know and I always like to try and and always encourage them to keep keep going you know and and cuz it is such a that that side of our nature
Is often the one that get gets sort of trampled down first you know in our trying to get through school and college and uh into jobs is that that childish desire to just put a pen to paper and make a drawing I think it’s really nice
To hold on to that and or in whatever other way it might be playing music or whatever it be um but uh yeah I like that I love that yeah so much good fan AR out yeah I almost sent out for a bomber jacket today though cuz haen was wearing
A nice Star Wars bomber jacket and um we were it was so cold where we were like it was just so cold but we stopped for L I was almost about to send CU I don’t know that I can walk out and get one maybe I
Should I I highly I don’t recommend you just walking out to get one you has anyone seen any jackets you’re lucky it’s cold in there there was so many people here today it was we were feeling the heat in the building it was nice but we had so many fans here uh
For all different all different genres uh you mentioned uh screening the Obi-Wan series the first couple episodes what was it like I know you’ve answered this question a bunch but maybe not for folks here live just just talk a little bit about returning to the character of Obi-Wan the Obi-Wan Series
Yeah well I was lucky to see it um on I I was lucky to see it first alone cuz I was a producer on the show too sure and so by the time Deborah had finished them I went to see I went to down to see the
First three MH and uh I went down to the where we’d shot the in the studio where we shot the the series and met Deborah and we and she sat me in this little screening room and then pressed play and left you know so I just watched one two and three
Alone and it was it was awesome to see I mean it was just yeah incredible to see what because I was so thrilled um with her work so she’s so talented deor Chow our director yeah let’s give it up for de Chow she directed them all you know it
Wasn’t in usually in television series there’ll be a director will maybe direct the first one or two maybe to sort of set the tone and then often that’s it and then other directors come in but I’m so thrilled that and I wanted to have just somebody’s one person’s vision and
My God she’s so brilliant she knows the world inside out she was always telling me what was what about you know like things that I was supposed to know about the world you know she’s keeping me right um that’s funny was there yeah was there something that you
Kind of came back to you or that you forgot all the time all the time names of planets names of droids yeah and names of anything no no she was brilliant and um but when I watched the last three I did the same so I went away they weren’t
Quite finished I I watched the first three and then I came back some weeks later and again sat alone but I was like the the sixth one really got me you know was just was just sitting there with tears rolling down my face watching I
Was so touched by it oh and so were we so were we of course so pleased so happy just so happy to be that we managed to do it and and and and and also that that we did it like that like I I feel like we could have you
Know there’s always it was it was originally going to be a movie and you know I’ve often thought well should it have been a movie or but I kind of think it’s great that we did it that way and it’s a longer story and hopefully it’s
More satisfying as a result MH we got more screen you know more time to to weave a story um yeah just hope we can do another one can everyone write to Disney if we just give you some email addresses in the end I just say dear Disney let’s have another let’s have a
Bit more of Obi-Wan Kobi Please dear dear disney disney.com yeah I think Disney America it should find them yeah talk about coming back uh we are about to bring as you just said uh your brother um Anakin Skywalker on stage a little bit later both like seeing him back on set
For for the first time the first first show god well it’s amazing it was amazing because you can’t imagine we were very close when we shot the prequels you know I mean I’d done the first one which Hayden of course wasn’t in and then we went to we shot the first
One in London and uh then they moved the whole shoot to Australia where we shot the second one and the third one um and so he Hayden arrived and I I just was so um impressed with him when from right off the he was such a serious act young
Actor and he you know he gave he just had so much thought about it and he he talked about it not in he talked about it in a deep way like he was really trying to mine it for everything that he could get out of it as an actor and I I
I really admired that about him and um and we were shooting away you know we were all I didn’t live in Australia neither did he so we spent a lot of time together and um yeah we were just had this and we spent a lot of time learning
Learning these fights and um and then we had that relationship on screen you know the sort of uh brother what’s the fancy word for Brotherhood fraternal no that’s father oh fraternity fraternity fraternal relationship yeah is it fraternal yeah fraternally jetl three flights three flights three flights everybody brotherly
Relationship and um yeah I just love him to bits and then we had didn’t seen each other for long time so when when I knew that um we were going to be doing this series and I I’d met him by chance um during the lockdown I met him somewhere
And I was able to say look I think we’re going to do a series of Obi One and at that point we didn’t know exactly what the story was had no idea if we were going to so I wasn’t able to say you know I want you to be in it or anything
Like that cuz I didn’t know yet where the story was going to go and um but then when I when I did know that we were going to ask him to do it oh God and then when we got on set I mean I’ve never seen so many people on a film set
In my life came on set and I was like a lot of people there’s a lot of people on this film set today what’s going on and then I turn around and Hayden’s coming on I’m like I see cuz everybody was there to see him
Yeah and it was um both of you they were here to both no no but it was kind of and the first thing we did I think I’m right in saying the first thing we shot was the flashback sequence in episode 4 and um so we were also like we looked
Like we did in I mean we had dots all over our face they could maybe do a little bit of a little bit of help making us younger but um apart from that we were in the old costumes you know and then we were doing that fight that just great so
Yeah it was an amazing experience of Wars like I love what I love about shooting it also was that when I this the crew um from for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series were real fans you know like an awful lot of people that work in Star
Wars now are fans you know and that that didn’t that wasn’t the case before when we made the prequels but I loved that so there was like a real Buzz whenever we were together that’s awesome yeah it’s awesome you me you mentioned being a producer on the series uh obviously
You’ve gotten you don’t only act now you produce uh you direct uh American pastoral uh film that you direct recently Make some noise for that yeah thank you that means a lot thank you very much yeah obviously a lot of fans out there what was that like transitioning uh to directing is it
Something that you found new challenges with and is it something you would continue to pursue mov I’d love to do it more I mean it’s a it was a really big Lear learning curve in everything other than the actual shoot Because the actual shoot I’ve I just been I’ve been doing
This for a long time and I the the idea of being a director just means I get to do it the way I know that I love to do it best myself as an actor and um so I was totally that bit of it was just absolutely brilliant I loved working
With the actors I was lucky to have brilliant actors to work with a good writing great design good costumes you know everything about it was was good the the stuff I didn’t know about was all the pre-production and all the post-production and that was something that I had to
Learn um on the job and I but I realized that it’s all just taste and you have to you have to to have courage to allow the worst kind of directors the ones that don’t want to relinquish their power to decide everything you know it’s just
It’s just not how it works it’s not a you’re not making a painting you’re making a movie and that is a collaboration and the best directors are the ones who stand in the middle of all the talent that they’ve pulled around them to make the film and allow those
People to work the best they can and that that takes a bit of Courage but that’s what I tried to do and that that’s what I thought I would do in the post production as well editing is very much taste you know it’s like you can’t
Really put your finger on it but you it’s just taste it’s like we need cut here like I can’t really explain why but um and I loved it very much and I Lov the film we made I just haven’t my yeah there’s been Lots going on in my life
Since I’ve made that film which is sort of stopped me from um finding another film to direct but that’s definitely what I’d like to do I’d like to direct more and I I just you know it’s a it’s a funny time in movies and um it’s finding the right it’s just
Finding the right story ultimately I think you can worry too much about where you’re making it for is it going to be on oh that’s a shame you’re looking around that speaker that’s not much fun is it I’m sorry I feel like we should move over there so that they
Can sorry oh we’re up there okay you’re fine an idiot I didn’t know that was there you’re fine I’m much better looking up there anyway I hope don’t forget to don’t forget to stand up and say hello to those folks on that side people I’m so sorry for
You sorry you got the safety of the distance that’s very nice um yeah what was I saying rubb looking looking for upcoming projects what’s what’s next I think the story I’ve sort of realized cuz I spent a lot of time woring like well where where do you you know the
Kind of movies that I would want to make people sort of don’t go to the cinema to see them anymore you know Cinemas become um Blockbuster and um horror films are always quite well received in cinema um and then big superhero films and such but you know
The films that I would want to direct about people and are not much gone to so they happen on television and I was thinking well is that and I just suddenly thought well you just got to find a story you want to tell and tell that story and doesn’t really matter
Where it seem I love that yeah that’s my thought about that it’s amazing well we can’t wait to see what’s what it is me too yeah offer on a postcard yeah let’s hear it let’s hear it you’re so generous uh to your your fans obviously meeting them at
Conventions which is a a huge place for for fans um of the Star Wars genre to to meet right and and hang out together you were so nice these folks here so we have some fan questions uh that were submitted um online uh we reached out to
A bunch of fan groups and and folks that are here in the audience so I’m going to shout out some names and if you hear yourself I will say I stole your question Peter McLean Peter McLean are you here somewhere Make Some Noise there they are there they are from
From New Finland uh Canada New Finland Canada I asked a question about returning to obw so thank you thank you for that um let’s go to the next one uh from Michael Bigalow from Palm Beach Florida Michael Bigalow you out there they’re being very poite he’s very
You can give a whoop you can go whoop whoop or whatever yeah um thank you for your question for the duel on Mustafa in Revenge of the Sith who obtained the worst injury during the rigorous choreography or did anyone we always got our we always got our
Um knuckles head smacked yeah I mean just it’s just part for the course with that kind of thing but what’s interesting is this sort of we can talk about it but the um how the the how the swords have evolved for sure and when we
Made the prequels we had a guy uh who who’s who had a he had like a cart he had like what Thomas somebody named Thomas Thomas Thomas Thomas the lightsaber maker yes is he here Thomas are you are you here he’s Thomas is in the bathroom somebody get him now
I was going on to say Thomas obviously was had a his cart and he we had these um they were they were made of some sort of alloy they were metal sure and uh they would bend after every single take um and when Hayden and I were fight to
Each other often didn’t make it through the T cuz we just went at each other so hard and um that they’ve changed now so now they have actual uh swords that light up which is what gave us those amazing lighting changes in that in that
End scene um in the series by by chance we were as we were rehearsing the scene you know we had our swords here and his face was we were blue someone get that phone will you and then as we moved over here our faces turned red and and it was just
Like magic you know we like oh my God so we um but they don’t fight as well as the old ones do they they they have a tendency to sort of go sort of Like just isn’t quite as satisfying as when they used Quack and but we would we would always catch each other’s fingers cuz they don’t have George in his wisdom decided not to give them a hilt a most sword designers in the world you know throughout history have put a hilt there
So that you don’t get your wrapped but anyway I still need one and then kylo Ren decides his Hilt is a lightsaber which is completely ridiculous right yeah I mean come on he’s got all the protection he needs right there look at there that is that is that too much to
Ask for a Little thank you that’s now what’s the next question that was it yeah um all right this one is from sirel B Bowski from Orlando Florida what’s up S here we go good friend of Thomas’s yeah everybody knows Thomas uh we talked a little bit about just the excitement
About returning to the role in your first days say where were there any challenges um to quote their uh question returning to the role of Obi-Wan after so long after so many years yeah I mean the the the first one was the accent like I I went to um
I went to do some castings with Deborah and um we read with several different actors for some of the rules and um I I just it was months before we started the shoot but I went down we did it on the set of uh the Mandalorian set on a
Sunday when they weren’t working so we had a bit of a set there and I I went down there on a Sunday morning and I was taken to a dressing room and there was like Obi-Wan’s clothes hanging up like so I guess not my old costume but but it
It certainly looked like some of it could have been and um so suddenly was putting all this costume back on again and looking in the mirror going oh my it’s been like a long time it sort of hit me in a way that what I was about to
Do and then I went on set and I um hadn’t really given it much thought I just thought well it’ll be all right and and I got upet and it was just not you know these poor little actors who were who were reading for all these other
Roles and I was I was just like trying to do the but one Trying to do Obi-Wan I was just coming out like some POS English guy and nothing at all like Obi-Wan or Alec Guinness and so that was the first challenge was like oh I see I’ve got to remind myself and I and that’s what I always did in the prequels was I just
Sort of watched Alec Guinness all the time and not only just in Star Wars but in all his early films um and now I was a bit older I got to watch him in some of his older films um wanted to just try it always has to try it always has to I
Don’t try and do an impersonation of Alec Guinness at all but I but it has to feel like him to me and um and often it it that’s when I know that I’m happy to move on with a take if it’s if it starts feeling like Al like
Yeah shout out to Sir Alec Guinness obviously the great um you you did an amazing job of transitioning Margo Marano from East Brunswick New Jersey Margo you out there um yeah what’s up Margo uh ask that what aspects of the original trilogy inspired uh your character so so yeah you spoke
On it were there was it voice was it physicality was it everything with with Al yeah all of it I mean there’s something there’s just something so iconic about his performance oh my God it’s like he’s over there you see just in that moment a man
Walked as there’s an Obi One Kenobi in the hallway into a light beard like oh my gosh sorry like I’m sorry I’m trying my best oh that was really did you see it that was a force go he’s now he’s gone completely so that’s even crazier Force go Alec Guinness just joined us
Everybody here yeah hope I see him over there now I know we’re in trouble um it’s all of it I’ve just what you know it’s his rhythm and it’s his humor and there’s something uh um his little eye roll that he does and I I
Mean I I tried to I just I didn’t I just like I soaked it all up I love it I love it uh we have one final question then we have a fun little game we’re going to end with uh with you the um this comes from Ashley from Florida
Ashley could be a bunch of Ashley from Florida but uh let’s talk about after Star Wars you shoot the prequels and you move on to some of our favorite movie musicals or music uh movies with musicals in them or musical moments Mulan Down With Love Down With
Love Beauty and the Beast the live action so Ash you just want what what is that like for you like what what’s what’s the transition as an actor into a a musical movie or or movie with songs and music I’ve always I mean I’ve Always sung I’ve always been musical through
School I was I you know I wanted I was only interested in exactly I was only interested perform you know anything that felt like perform I always think I always knew I wanted to be an actor and so I found it difficult to be interested in academics I should have been but I
Wasn’t and um so music was a way for me through school to to sort of perform I suppose so I was a a a sang and really from a young age I was a soloist in the choir you know Christmas carols and stuff I did Once in Royal David City
When I was like six in a in a church like Once in Royal it was terrifying I still remember the fear and um uh so that and then I was a side drummer in the pipe band I was a French horn player and just anything that allowed me to
Sort of do music so so to to then do the musicals was like taking that on you know it was just we had great um singing coach on mul AR r and uh I loved it I loved recording we we worked with um the music producer Marius Def and we just recorded loads
And loads of songs that didn’t make it into the show but we just kept record different I did it I suggested we do for the end after satin has died I I suggest that we record I can’t live if living is without you the Harry Nelson one oh go a
Little bit it was a bit too on the nose um but we recorded it nonetheless oh wow somewhere and I love that process of recording music I love it so to do the musical was just a joy really but the nice thing was we pre-recorded all
The music so we we spent you know two three months with bads in Australia sure rehearsing and then we during that time it was like being at drama school you know on a Monday morning you’d have three hours with Marius and on a Tuesday afternoon you’d be in the dance hall and
You it was like it was and then we’d be rehearsing the scenes and so we pre-recorded all the songs and then we when we shot with them because for editing it has to keep the same beat it’s always best to sort of uh record to play back so you’ve got the music
Playing on set and you’re singing along with it if you like um and then we had the ability to there was a little I don’t think Thomas was involved but we had a like a little sort of trolley that was a it was like a sort of is going to see
This on ontube one day and be like finally the respect deser he may have been involved in this I don’t know but it was a it was like a telephone box on Wheels with a door and a microphone in it and you could go and it was wheeled
From set to set and um if something when you were shooting a scene like the Tango scene or something like that and something didn’t feel quite right you could nip into the telephone box and re-record that bit and within minutes they would have that laid into the
Playback so you could then and then also you could re re-record it afterwards when they cut it you know if something so you you were able to do the singing before during and after basically which was really cool yeah that’s very cool I mean I think that’s why that movie uh
Stands up and so you feel like you’re watching a true Musical on stage just in film format yes I loved it so much I loved it I’ll never forget some I mean some of those memories of like the tangle walking through the Dan you know walking down through the set with the
Tango dance like oh my goodness makes getting chill who’s getting chills out there yeah amazing all right are we ready for a little game yeah my daughter Esther is filming with she’s playing Nicole Kidman’s daughter in a movie right now what show amazing yeah maybe that maybe no
One’s went to know that yeah I was going to ask for the title but should have check before I just announced that to the world proud dad moment sorry all right um You and we appreciate your time on Sage thank you for answering uh those fan questions we
Really uh we asked all of the fans in this room before the panel eight questions people are already just yeah about Star Wars things now there’s no wrong answer we’re going to ask you to pick between two things you’re not trying to guess how the audience guessed
It’s just you you and McGregor how would you feel and w’t be judged you won’t be judged by any of these people no no no no no no okay who’s going are we judge no come on give it up yeah no listen all right so let’s let’s pop it up there um
We’ve got question number one you can you can see over there or look up or I’ll just read it to um where would you rather live Cloud City or Naboo Cloud City I mean I think no I think cloud city is probably going to be more interesting I
Think it’s I think it’s I think it’s good till the audience guest y there we go uh Cloud C win 74 no thean I’m sorry I’m sorry that’s just the audience you fli them though that’s they did that did do a weird thing it puts the top one on on
The top who would you rather train under Yoda or Obi-Wan Kenobi we’ll move on to number three all right number three you want to see the audience V it yeah I well I should say youra to be polite oh oh yeah yes cuz otherwise it
Would just be me in a room on my audience it’s a good point it’s a good point 71% piob one k all number three who would you rather invite to your birthday party C3PO or R2D2 this is your birthday party c3p cuz he it’s much more fun yeah it’s just
More fun to watch like trying to get around there’s always someone at your birthday party that’s a bit drunk and falling over that would totally be him yeah he r21 r21 there uh with the audience so far I’ve totally gone against all right number four um what
Would you rather fly an X-Wing or a TIE fighter Tie Fighter X X-Wing yeah it’s a far superior aircraft yeah yeah yeah yeah X-Wing wins everybody xwing WIS there all right number five would you rather be skilled with a lightsaber or skilled with a force so you lose one ability
There not a choice that’s the same thing that’s the correct answer that’s the correct answer that’s my fault very nice we have a few more a couple more would you rather kiss a wook or kiss a gungan I think I think as a Jedi you’re sort of um you’re not meant to kiss
Anyone oh that’s also the correct answer nether yeah very good I don’t think that’s allowed two for two two for two all right uh here we go number seven who has the better hair Obi-Wan or Anakin uh well it depends what episode you’re talking about I think we all know in episode two
It’s some pretty tasty hair see didn’t even switch up there but we had uh it was it was close it was 58 for Anakin in 41 for Obi yeah so we’ll see how Hayden answers in a and last one last one y join the Rebellion or join the Empire should
Pi what yeah would you rather join the Rebellion or join the Empire it was you if it was me yeah well again I you know I the rebellion of course yeah yeah of course of course kind of wanted them join uhoh uhoh oh no uhoh what’s Happening Here looks
Like’s coming out oh my gosh everybody handing [Applause] Chris up [Applause] hey everybody we’re going to say goodby to him but it was a pleas for having him on stage give up for [Applause] you hello everyone this is a proper uh this a proper theater yeah yeah yeah
2,600 plus and they were standing room only uh just here for you and Y let’s hear for Haiti Christian thank you so much you and I we’re backstage earlier uh talking about just how nice this event has been and and how much we’ve enjoyed getting to meet so many of you so this is this has been really great thank you thanks so much for coming out we’re
So excited to have here I I want to say uh just cuz he brought it up he was very jealous of your bomber jacket that you have on here jacket yeah I just I just got this sent to me not long ago so I thought this would be a good place to
Sport it I love it I love it did you uh and that kind of brings up a question that we asked you and obviously you’re you’re traveling around the world you’re meeting all these fans at these conventions we’re here in Orlando it’s a it’s a big city for Star Wars collectors
Um lightsabers and and figurines and uh apparel what’s been like the the the most interesting that you’ve gotten recently to sign or maybe just something out of all your signings a prop or a replica or or an apparel oh I don’t know there’s there’s there’s uh you know we
Sign a lot of lightsabers and Darth Vader helmets but um um I just like seeing the the the new artwork you know you see all these artists come and and they do these amazing drawings and um and so that’s sort of what I what I get a kick out of
There’s there’s a Festival of Arts going on right now uh at Epcot you know yeah and um we there were so many great artists just with with different um versions of you and their takes on it um with with different characters it’s it’s so beautiful I I want to ask you have
You been to Galaxy’s Edge in either Hollywood or Orlando yeah yeah yeah talk about your experience stepping into that for the first time yeah I’ve been a couple of times um I think I think it was the one in California though at at Disneyland I don’t know that I’ve been to the one
Here yet similar pretty much a replica just different yeah I would imagine they’re similar but yeah I did the the rise of the [Applause] resistance I they do they do such a great job with I always thought it would be such a cool job to be a a Disney
Imagineer you know the people that that design the parks and the rides I I think they do such such amazing work oh yeah they’re Geniuses and and even and even the folks on that ride you know the ride um operators they get to kind of take part in the action it’s an immersive
Ride totally yeah you feel like you’re in Star Wars it’s great I could picture like that’ be a fun surprise bit uh riding the r resistance and then hating Christenson there as like the rebel like come on follow me like we need to get next thing there was like a few Storm
Troopers that kind of like looked at me a little long he’s supposed to be here let’s kick things off um as fans um we were so lucky to see you return as Anakin in the Obi-Wan series but but then we got we were even luckier to see you return in
Ahsoka thank you you were touring with us last year and I knew I knew you had to keep it uh so secret and you did such an amazing job now that it’s out there and we know yeah yeah now that it’s out there and we know about it what is what
Is it like getting that double reaction from fans with this another wave of fan reactions to your appearance in Ahsoka uh I I can’t tell you just how amazing the whole experience has been for me you know coming back on obi-1 was incredible getting to to to you know swing a
Lightsaber with you and again was was a just a thrill um and then and then getting the phone call after we wrapped Obi-Wan I wasn’t aware of any other you know projects that I would be involved with we wrapped I got a phone call from Dave Fon and John
Fabro and I was I was uh just so excited again um you know any any chance I get to to put on those Jedi robes I’ll take it uh yeah we had um obviously in Obi-Wan we had the the Jedi robes from from the flashback we had the suit um of Darth uh
With the battle and then in Ahsoka we get we get the battle the battle outfit you know Theo I was I was I was just I don’t know so excited to get to to to portray that version of the character yeah um you know when I uh when I had that call with with Dave fony and John favro they were sort of walking me through mostly what
Was going to be in episode five and you know when he when he started talking about the world Between Worlds and we’re going to go on this sort of Journey Through uh soka’s memories and and that we were going to get to to to you know
Revisit the Clone Wars um I just thought you know I was was just so excited about the whole thing people have said that uh that episode 5 Shadow Warrior is some of the best Star Wars they’ve ever seen uh yeah like in terms of it just the feeling of
It like you felt like you were in the world and also was bringing everything together all at once uh talk about the reaction to that specific episode um that that you were in you know and just how it’s really brought fans together from all the different Series yeah I
Mean you know the the the episode is is is a really great one um and what what Dave Fon accomplished is is really remarkable um you know sort of the the the the context of it and and the way it sort of informs ahsoka’s Journey um it it it it it’s
Really clever storytelling sure sure um but you know the response has been really nice uh I I get people coming up to me on the streets just sort of saying like Ahsoka episode 5 I know me too but yeah you know all of the all of the praise should be directed towards Dave
Filon specifically uh the shot that I think they ever won chills and was like oh my is the the quick the quick transition from Anakin’s back to waer did you talk about that scene you know shooting it and then kind of seeing it with with post after post again I I I I
I take no credit cuz all I did is I showed up I I walked that was all that was required from me um and the way that you know they shot that and they cut it together and um I just thought that the whole episode came out you know better than I
Could have hoped that’s awesome um yeah you a lot of people also praised you for um your integration of some of the um mannerisms and of of Matt Lantern you know the voice actor yeah give it up give it up for Matt yeah it felt like a seamless again a
Merging of of two amazing performances yours from the prequels and and Matt’s from the the show um did did you did you listen to any of that did you study any of that or did it sort of just come natural just as you were progressing
Don’t know I I’ve been watching a lot of Clone Wars so I think some process of osmosis it kind of It kind of made its way um but but uh no it’s just it’s it’s a it’s a period in Anakin’s life that that I was aware of I thought was was very
Interesting and and obviously they explored it uh a lot in the Clone Wars uh in the animated show that they did um but but the opportunity to get to do that in live action was was so compelling um and I just I wanted to
Bring it to life in in the most sort of uh exciting way possible and and follow Dave’s lead and and and just sort of you know bring to life what was on the page because it was all there in the script you talked about you shouted out Dave a
Bunch of times rightfully so and respectfully so um and you said following his lead I I just how how do you enjoy or what do you enjoy most about working with brilliant directors like that like how does your director actor Dynamic work for you um and specifically with Dave specifically with
Dave yeah I I working with Dave flon was one of the best experiences i’ I’ve had as an actor in terms of that that director actor relationship sure sure um and you know I think a part of me just really enjoys working with writer directors because there’s there’s a little bit more
Clarity there and that you know you can kind of trust the script a little bit more it’s a more accurate road map uh you know when you have a director working off with someone else’s material there’s interpretation and you always have to sort of wonder if your interpretations are aligned
Um but but you know obviously Dave knows Star Wars so well and and he knows this character so well you know he he probably spent more time than I did working on Anakin and developing Anakin with George Lucas and uh so I I there was just a you know an immense amount of
Trust and you know I just I knew he had a really exciting vision for it and just his his his way of of of being a a leader on set you know he really inspires everyone around him the way he speaks about Star Wars is so
Insightful you know I I remember when I was getting ready to do Obi-Wan I was sort of doing a deep dive on the internet just kind of looking for all of the information I I I found interesting and I came across this video of Dave talking about uh the the sort of the
Meaning behind the battle of the Fates Duel of the Fates sorry and it was just so you know I’d never heard it sort of put that way before and it was it was just you know so smart and and insightful um and he’s just he he just
Naturally is like that you know um so it was it was a real joy to get to work with him and and to see him you know sort of uh Inspire everyone on set it was great that’s awesome you mentioned doing doing some research uh so that you
Were ready when you got on set you and joked that he was like oh my God gosh I don’t remember the planets I need to remember the Droid names were you nervous coming back to it that you’d like get on there and be like Whoa We I
Need a refresher here yeah you know there’s always a little bit of that but but I don’t know I I I I spent so much time with this character that that it kind of it came back pretty easy um I just wanted to sort of like learn about
All the new Star Wars that maybe I wasn’t caught up with sure um and and and that was a really enable process you know that’s awesome uh Anakin Skywalker is and d/ Darth Vader is arguably the most complex uh character in all of Star Wars right will we agree that
Yeah you got to play him in his younger years and then you got to come back as him as Vader in Obi-Wan and then also then back um as the Clone Wars eror Anakin did you find any challenges uh in in portraying those sort of Evolutions
You know both all the way forward and then coming back was there was there anything you were trying to insert uh in his journey to make sure the audience really like followed along um you mean in terms of the work we did in the prequels or or coming back
I guess coming back to it after the prequels yeah knowing that you were kind of Bridging the Gap timeline wise you know like yeah definitely when when we were doing obw we did the flashback sequence and that was kind of like old hat like we we we’ done that before and
Um and so that that was just good fun um going into doing the scene is Vader that was new new territory right exactly um and then the same is true of of Ahsoka uh you know playing the sort of wise Mentor uh was was a version We we’d never sort of
Seen before yeah yeah um and and getting to do that and then and then sort of you know try to bring to life the Clone War zakin um it’s a balancing act you know uh and so even though I I know the character we’re still sort of um taking
Him in New Directions and and you just hope that it it it resonates in a way uh with you guys as it did with me when I when I read the script and um I think it resonated am I right everybody a lot a lot of people talk
About just see to talk about the quick transition from your back to Vader but I think it was the glint in the eye when you turn from Evil to you know Dark Side to light side in yeah right come on yeah that’s fun thanks man yeah I I I
Actually didn’t that was the one part that I wasn’t really sure how we were going to do that yeah you know cuz it was scripted as you know he he he sort of transitions back you know to Anakin yeah um and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be
Some special effect or what it was going to be uh and so that was just sort of what came to us in the moment and and I really like that that bit too oh it’s beautiful it was a beautiful performance so thank you for that yeah yeah thank
You speaking of yeah give up for speaking of beautiful performances uh not only Star Wars uh we love your character Steven glass and shattered glass one of my all-time favorites David Rice and jumper is there uh outside of your Star Wars career is there a role or a
Character that you look back on that you’re extremely fond of through through your career those are two that I really enjoyed yeah um what can I tell you about those ones uh uh shattered glass was a film that I did um in between episode two and three
Uh and I I just started a production company with my brother and we were looking for what was going to be our first film and and he came back from a meeting with sort of a pile of material different scripts and books and magazine articles and there was this one article
Uh uh that that described you know Steven glass’s misdoings in journalism if if you haven’t seen the film it’s about a journalist who who fabricates a a good portion of his stories um and there was something about it that spoke to me I think because I was just sort of
Getting my taste of of uh of how the media can sometimes not tell the the full truth um what’s what’s breaking news everybody I know um um yeah it was like the first quote I’d ever read of mine and I was it was odd um it quoted me saying that I had
Burned my hand uh when I was using a lightsaber because the batteries got too hot and our lightsabers back then didn’t have batteries in them so a completely false statement I I was sort of surprised that that sort of thing took place and and so the the the the
Messaging of the story kind of spoke to me and and that’s how we got into that one um uh David Rice jumper that was a film I wanted to do uh because thank you uh I just really like the the director the filmmaker Doug Lyman for
Sure um he he he’s done a lot of great films uh and I I love the concept too the idea of a of teleportation as a superpower kind of spoke to me as someone who travels a lot and and the idea of being able to just be anywhere
Whenever you want I thought was was a great idea I love it uh yeah but that was a fun one to make cuz we actually traveled to all the different locations around the world that that are depicted in the story so it was a fun one to get
To make was there one that stuck out to you or that you were like oh man this is locations yeah yeah I mean when we got to film in the Coliseum in Rome that was kind of special uh and then and then they then they recreated the coliseum in
A sound stage in Toronto where we did a lot of the filming and and we destroyed it and that’s where we got to like you know yeah uh make a mess of the Coliseum you mentioned um getting misquoted it was interesting you brought that up as a connection to shatter glass
I think that’s super interesting Star Wars is is Rife with uh fanfiction uh that’s uh fans writing their interpretations on things uh memes you know like social media yeah people are like you know all of that do you follow that do you follow along is there
Anything that like you stuck out to you or you just keep that over there somewhere I don’t I don’t I don’t exactly follow it because I’m not I’m not on social media right but but I I uh I I have a a friend of mine who who
Thinks it’s his job to send me all of the Star Wars M and so I’m aware of a lot of them and they make me laugh I you know I enjoy them anyone stick out to you as kind of like uh oh there’s a few um off the top of my head
Uh there’s there’s there’s one that I quite like uh in the scene where where you have uh cidus and mace wendu and Anakin’s there and he’s having to choose you know and uh and and Palpatine is is shooting Force lightning at mace Wu and mace window was blocking it deflecting
It back and and and C is saying help me and Anakin says just stop shooting Force lightning at blocking it back at you maybe there’s some truth to that credit credit to whoever made that out there sowh uh OB there’s another good one where with with with Anakin and Padme
And nboo there’s a few that’s the best one that’s the best one yeah and she says you know and you’re going to you’re going to change things for the better right right I like that one when when it came out that one it was just the scene
Basically and then the amount of times it’s been reused for different like topics in the news is is incredible great I love I love how creative they can get yeah so good so good uh speaking of that speaking of being you know in the public eye versus in the private um
You know private versus public I was going to say a private eye being a private eye I could be a private eye um how do you find that balance uh I we had the honor and I’ve had the honor of interviewing a bunch of times in different cities and it’s always been a
Joy and some things have come out come up that you enjoy doing um so for the you’re an avid farmer or you were an a farmer you have a ranch um you love Mowing and snowblowing and you enjoy making Lakes I do yeah pawns I can’t lak
Are that’s maybe one day I’ll graduate to Lakes but right now I’m still on pawns talk to us a little bit about for this crowd that hasn’t hurt yeah what what are your fun hobbies or activities that that send yourself I just enjoy the sort of country life and and I like I
Like uh um Big equipment and I’ve got a few toys at my farm uh and snow blowing is definitely one of my favorite activities um it’s it’s uh I’ve got this uh Bobcat which is like a a skid steer machine and it has all these different attachments and one of them is yeah
There we go Bobcat fan Bobcats are the best um and there’s a snow blower attachment and uh and I’ve got you know a nice long driveway and when you get a really heavy snow I mean the thing will shoot snow like 20 30 feet in the air it’s just very
Satisfying I love it I love it yeah it’s soothing soothing soothing yeah all right we’re ready to go um thank you for answering my questions we had fans submit questions online and we picked a few they’re here in the crowd now so I’m going to shout out their name if you
Hear your name give us a little hoop and holler and uh we’ll get through as many as we can all right all right this is Deon from Lakeworth Devon you out there yeah there you go go um Hayden we loved your actors on actors interview um you
Spoke about your daughter a bit uh there um talk about your daugh daughter’s relationship with Star Wars has she seen Star Wars yet and and how has that been she still hasn’t seen it so I was I was I was I was dragging my feet for a while kind of you know
Wanting to hold off um but now she’s 9 years old and I feel like she’s at an appropriate age where I could share it with her and and there have been a few times where I’ve actually offered it up and I’ve said you know sweetheart would you would you like
To you know watch Star Wars and we’re sitting down to watch something and and um there’s always something else that she’s more interested in so we we’re watching a lot of this show called live and Maddie right now she like let’s let’s watch living mat Liv in Maddie please
There is a young Jedi Adventures that isn’t maybe a bad entry point um that would be a good one I agree yeah but still just nothing huh no not yet but I I’m I’m hoping soon yeah but I’m I’m I’m waiting on her on her now I love it I
Love it all right this is Jade from Tampa Jade yeah there we go um this is interesting going back to to the original prequels did you talk about the audition process specifically the question is did You audition for any other roles besides Anakin or was it
Just Anakin the way no but I wanted to yeah tell us about that well when I when I heard that they were auditioning for Anakin Skywalker I thought that’s really cool but there’s no way I’m ever going to get that and I asked my agent at the
Time is there are there any other roles smaller roles that they’re casting right now that I could I could be in consideration for and and and uh and there was not and and so uh and so I threw my name in the Hat for Anakin um and it was a very long auditioning
Process that went on for a few months and um I don’t know all all throughout that process I never in a million years thought that I was going to get the role yeah and I think that really helped me because I was I was just able to enjoy
It a little bit more and and uh you know I remember going to meet George Lucas for the first time at the Skywalker Ranch and I was just so excited to to get to be there um you know with concept of of you know maybe getting this role
But just hopefully that I would get like a souvenir or like a free free mug or something grab something put I um what was the oh my God I not many people get to just step onto the Skywalker what was the first thing that you saw like Star Wars related that at
That ranch that was like oh my gosh uh there’s there’s a there’s a Yoda Fountain yeah I remember seeing that for the first time I was like o this is this is where they do Star Wars I love it but yeah it’s it’s you know it’s Star Wars everywhere oh my go
It’s a it’s a pretty remarkable place it’s funny that you say um that you weren’t was it that you weren’t interested in that character and was hoping to something different um when you say you didn’t initially put in for Anakin um or yeah no it it just seemed
Like too big of a role um you know uh I was I was 18 at the time when I first started auditioning for it and um was working on a on a TV show in Canada and just the idea of of of of playing sort
Of the central role in Star Wars just it seemed too big it’s not that I didn’t want to of course I would you know I was I was over the moon when I got the role um but yeah my point being is just that that I think you know when when you when
You don’t take things too seriously and and and you don’t sort of focus on on on your on the outcome of things um it it helps you you know I love that uh and then seg way sort of in my brain to this next question this is from Jessica
Jessica McNair from Arkansas Jessica McNair what’s up um hi Jessica you’re think you’re talking about like sort of mentally coming into a role and Jessica says um that they and they they allowed us to to share this struggled with some mental health um and how it’s super
Important to take care of your mental health is there anything that um you do specifically to kind of keep yourself in that good place that that positive place that you can share with fans um snowblowing yeah I snow blow in the winter time and
I and I and I sit on my ride on lawn mower in the summertime definitely helps everybody’s got their release I love it I love it uh we talked with you and a bunch about uh the lightsaber battles of course such an important part of the Star Wars um films
And TV shows and just the difference in the lightsabers and Dominic uh picillo am I saying that right or P picillo yeah sorry from Fort Myers Florida just wants to to know was the choreography difficult uh in the fighting scenes between you both and how long did you
Both train for yeah I mean they’re they’re they’re very uh elaborate you know uh choreograph fights and they take a long time to learn cuz you know neither you and and I are actually uh you know trained Swordsmen uh we’re just actors so um but but we took it very
Seriously and and uh and we spent you know months training uh when we were doing the prequels we’d go out to Australia a couple of months before and uh work with Nick Gillard shout out to this shout out to Nick Gillard the fight choreographer from prequels who just did
Amazing work um and that was that was that was a a part of that process that I think I probably enjoyed the most um just getting to to go to work and it’s you’re you’re going to like Jedi training camp Oh My Gosh um and it was
Just it was just a thrill I love that uh you had mentioned some some wraps on the knuckles um usually yeah yeah we always we always took a few on the knuckles um but you know they were like Badges of Honor too um and I don’t know if you shared with you
But the the lightsabers have changed a lot too and so back then they were they were these metal lightsabers when you got hit on the knuckles it left a mark um and and and they would bend and they would get all warped and and it was almost like a
Bragging point though like if we if we did a fight scene and then one of our Savers was like all crooked go show to the other one be like hey look look what you did this time can you reveal whose lights was more crooked at more yeah it was a point
Of Pride but it you know we traded back and forth um but but but yeah I mean especially that that that you know that fight on Mustafar we spent a lot of time training for that it was something that we knew was coming we knew there was
Going to be this big showdown between Anakin and Obi-Wan sure and we we wanted to make it as epic as possible um yeah yeah and so we trained and we trained and we we we uh we got the pacing up you know to to to a really
Nice place and then when we got to set we just you know we went from 10: to 11: and uh and yeah we were really cooking I love it I love it uh it perfectly Segways into this um final fan question from Kyle Wade Fort Myers Florida you out there Kyle
Wade if Obi-Wan didn’t have The High Ground do you Kyle Kyle Kyle it’s not me Obi-Wan didn’t have the High Ground do you think he still would have beaten Anakin no it was all about The High Ground obviously corre answer corre answer that’s the premise of of that that scene
There you know and and I I always thought about it you know that like in episode in episode one when when obiwan is is fighting Maul Maul has The High Ground is down and he does this amazing move looks over him you know Cuts him in half uh and so I I
I assumed that that would have been something that was like you know um folklore sort of level status Legend status you know the Jedi Academy everyone talked about it obviously so then when we got you know when I’m confronted with the Eye Of The High Ground I’m sure that Anakin was in
The back of his head thinking I you know I’m I’m going to show him and it just it didn’t work out are you ready to play a fun little game to wrap things up all right let’s do it uh quick note for the text you don’t have to bring it up here we’re
Just going to uh stick stick with Hayden um all right this or that and I’ll let you know how the audience voted and or how we do all right this that would you rather live in Cloud City or live in nibo O well I’ve been to nibo yeah nibo
Is quite nice I would go back to was the was the winner winner was the winner good choice uh Hayden I’m just Hayden you’re ha you and pick Cloud City that yeah would you rather train under Yoda or train under Obi-Wan you yeah obviously obiwan OB the audience went that was the winner
You’re having a birthday party you can only invite one R2D2 or C3PO who do you invite you always make me choose a new scenario though it’s a birthday party so who’s going to be the the most fun at your birthday party I mean I feel bad for you know Anthony Daniels is a
Real you know he’s in the suit yeah yeah so I feel like I need to pick pick c3p c3p very nice but Ru is my guy right so R2 is there R2 I’m not choosing yeah would you rather fly an X-Wing or a TIE fighter you can only choose
One t yeah TIE fighter TIE fighter right that’s good would you rather be skilled with a lightsaber or skilled with the force definitely skilled with the force use use Jedi Mind Tricks or like cool twirly behind your back move I think I’m going to go with what what do you speak of
Now would you rather kiss a w or kiss a Gungan p i got to shoes yeah um well if you’re going to if you’re going to do it you may as well just go for it and and and I’m going to go for um yeah I don’t know see jarg had that tongue that was like I’m going to go with
W was the winner was the winner and last but not least who wore their hair better ob1 or Anakin well which which which which film are we talking I it really depends on the movie yeah let’s do a quick cheer now for Padawan braid versus um luscious locks
From Revenge say so um attack of the Clones Padawan braid we’re choosing between Anakin’s Padawan braid and Obi-Wan’s okay look from mullet right right well he wore that mullet really well yeah the pan bra I really like too I thought that was I you know I was a fan of that
Super cute yeah yeah but I think the ultimate we’ll go with we’ll go with we’ll go with the mullet with with obiwan Obi-Wan mullet but okay then with one more Obi-Wan mullet versus Revenge of the Sith um rock lusious locks locks it’s the lusious locks locks 2024 this is your [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] let’s he one more time for you and McGregor anden chrisan Meg we have a ton of people in here if you are joining us for uh your autograph uh with Hayden just please remain in your seats all right so if you’re headed to the uh after hours Hayden Christensen autograph please
