– The mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated is to enhance the quality of life for women and their families through community service, civil and social action. Our goal is to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, health awareness, and leadership development. – Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated
Was founded on November 12th, 1922 on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Iota Psi Covergirl Chapter was chartered on Saturday, April 12th, 1980 at 5:55 PM. – Three pillars that are part of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated are sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
So once members have graduated, they can then matriculate into a graduate chapter where that sisterhood, scholarship, and service is always there. The Iota Psi Covergirl Chapter has three initiatives that are well known on our campus. Black Male Highlight, so recognizes achievements of Black men on campus,
Black on Wax, so it is a was museum recognizing prominent Black figures in history. We also have Rock the Mic which is an open mic event recognizing artistic expression. – I believe that I, as well as the other members of the Iota Psi Chapter work to achieve the legacy
Of our founders by working to achieve greater service and greater progress in all areas of the world. We try to highlight Black achievement as well as empower those in our community as well as those outside of our community. And we work with community service organizations
Around the local area to help serve our community. – I believe the impact that Iota Psi Chapter has on the community here at U of M is creating a safe space for one another to be ourselves to fellowship. I also believe that we encourage one another
To be our best selves academically at this institution that is not predominantly people of color to excel in the best ways possible.
