The notifications and yet another another fraternity Indiana news it’s Indiana University issues cease and desist against to Epsilon Pi student organization so this was on the 14th was yesterday so Bloomington Indiana the Indiana University Office of student life has issued a cease and desist order against fraternity at its Bloomington
Campus according to Indiana University’s website the Indiana University chapter of T Epsilon 5 has been suspended until further notice because of hazing officials said that all of the organization’s activities have been suspended by the University’s office of student life um effective as of February 12th wow you know what maybe maybe bringing
This stuff out you guys is actually doing something and maybe not there yet but maybe elsewhere I I mean I just hope that’s the case you know that it’s helping somewhere that something’s helping somewhere along the line you know what I mean so the offices definition of ceased and desist
According to its website is an interim measure placed on certain aspects of chapter organizations when there is an immediate threat or ongoing investigation that was a according to the organization’s website the fraternity was founded at Columbia University in 1910 and the chapters along the east coast as far as
West Coast as far as West as Indiana sorry you guys I’m might be lising a little bit I bit my tongue really bad just a little bit ago and it’s like ah it’s really giving me some pain so I’m being really careful when I talk and

Something Sigma Alpha Epsilon effective October 10th 2023 because of Hing Kaa Alpha Pi U frat or F what is that should be Pi or should be a it should be an H right PSI that’s pressure that’s a pressure anyway Fraternity Incorporated effective October 27th 2023 look at all
These dates you guys right around the Times like all the October this one’s January Alpha capy F effective January 30th because of hazing and Beta Sigma five February 5th because of hazing wow in a statement from an Indiana University spokesman off um official say the investigation for tal salon
Is ongoing cease and assist directives are placed when there are allegations of behavior that has caused or make or may cause harm to the members of the organization or the community when an organization is placed on cease and desist the organization is not allowed to host attend participate
In any social events recruitment events membership education activities Brotherhood Sisterhood events or Phil fanthropy that’s going to be hard for my time Service events wow you guys that’s nuts that all that’s in there oh man suggest a correction I don’t know well maybe there’s some things you need spell in there properly

Nuts students attempting to put an end to hazing it the right students yes oh you guys this is such good news that is such good news let’s see what it says here with a student trying to put an end to hazing at the University forever excuse me according to University
Statistics 25% % of all students here at IU are involved in Greek life in some way and also according to University Statistics over the last four years 33% of fraternities and sororities have been disciplined for some form of hazing hazing is anything that a group of students particularly new members in
This instance are required to do that the whole chapter is not required to do Conor Kennedy is the president of the inner fraternity council at IU when his term started last January he was concerned about the high number of Greek life organizations that have been disciplined by the university in the
Last four years hazing is not something that builds Brotherhood it’s not something that builds strong and healthy chapters last spring his organization created a program called hooers not hazers it’s an educational program every fraternity now has to go through we wanted to have something where there’s a peer-to-peer approach where uh students
Were talking to other students about what hazing means rather than students to Administration or people that are a lot older than them because when those people that they’re talking to have the same lived EXP experience it really helps to kind of relate on that aspect and then understand when they air it out
Why it’s bad and why they should be working away from it have some chapters gone through that program and then this fall put on C synesis yes which was unfortunate to see uh was definitely disappointing on our end because we felt like we had had the conversation with
Them about what hazing was what to look for how to stop it Etc um and they obviously violated that is the program working or is there tweaks that need to be made I think it is working um obviously like with any anything that you implement you learn from how it goes
And you can make changes uh slightly throughout but the main goal of it with the peer-to-peer approach I think has been really beneficial because it opens it Up For Students to have conversation with other students then they can truly realize things that they may not think
Are a big deal can be and they can lead to higher level conduct issues the university does not release specifics about hazing incidents that lead to disciplinary action for some of these houses on Greek row but on its website it outlines dozens of examples of hazing broken up into 12 different categories
Including mental and emotional duress physical abuse and sexual abuse and harassment and the website urges anyone that knows of or is experiencing hazing to report it that reporting system is what has led five fraternities to already be placed on ceon assist so far this year it’s a little bit better
Suweet obviously it’s concerning because the nature of some of these reports can be of concern it’s something that these chapters aren’t supposed to be doing within their new member education process but at the same time it’s also positive be because we know that infractions are being reported to the
Office of student conduct rather than being swept under the rug does that you have a hazing problem I think that we’re working to fix the problem that’s persisted uh but it gets better every year every year that we work towards a more modern fraternity culture we work

Members yeah like when they say that they you know they have to clean their room like you know every every week or every day for you know forever and they have to be like uh you know fast and they have to be like precise I mean I there’s

Taask huh being yelled at name calling being provided little to no notice for required attendance at an event or meeting or subjecting members to unusual or unnecessary rules for example pledge rules which pledge rules is basically ha hazing I mean it’s just a different term for it obstructing and endangering the AC
