What divine N means to me N means to me Vine n means to me Mean to Me Vine n means um a lot to me I feel like it is a mixture of different values and traditions um coming together for one common goal uplift just uplifting man you know our
Organizations were very were founded by people who had a vision who had a vision far far above themselves we are all like based on service M like a main service Focus the fact that how each or have come together on on similar uh ideals and values and how um these Founders
Like you said you know being our age coming up with these organizations and how big they come hundreds of years later back in the 1800s when uh you know fraternities were first started upon uh African-Americans weren’t uh invited to join so you know we we joined or we made
Our own thing even hundreds of years later you know uh we still got that Bond you know all together all nine of us you know and I and I I really enjoy that you know it feels like it brings us all Together Alpha F Alpha Alpha Kappa Alpha then Kappa Alpha side then Omega SFI then Delta Sigma Theta uh F Beta Sigma Zeta F beta uh Sigma gam and iot fight the reason why I feel like Divine n sorties and fraternities aren’t as big here at Kent is because we are at a predominantly
White institution so we’re not as noticed as the other ones it’s more kind of an exclusive Club not saying that we we will turn down anyone by any you know race or or sexual orientation what it is is just you know we we we take that serious you know it’s it’s a lifelong
Commitment a lot of these organizations have people of different backround all over the world disy name it race name it they all have it and and they all come in for their separate reasons too and just as well as how African-Americans join these other different frater
Authorities they come to us as well they don’t call for awareness as far as mphc and divine n traditions and history so I do feel that um there is a a big big difference between panel Greeks and MC Greeks or IFC because we don’t have the representation
As far as numbers is why we aren’t as big on campus like a it’s like a money thing it’s a um know they they preach The Sisterhood and everything like that they do give that but it’s like it’s a little bit different you know from their culture and our culture when people come
Into college know hearing about hearing about oh there’s a the black Greek Haze and black Greek do X Y and Z black Greeks had this lawsuit over at this school all that stuff hinders hinders recruitment it hinders who’s interested in what because they don’t want that happening to their child and which which
Understandable but I think that plays the biggest factor in it though there people what people here other schools are doing that we’re not doing this semester we have six out of the nine fraternity and sororities and uh excuse me over over uh the next year or so we
We may be getting back uh two more leaving that 8 out of the 9 fraternities and sororities in the D9 uh that being said that’s extremely rare at uh p uh especially you know one like Kent State uh but at any pwi period you know that’s extremely rare my name iser
