Steveen Edy were a husband and wife team that met on The Tonight Show Steve Allen’s Tonight Show the very first Tonight Show he was a boy singer she was a girl singer they met on the show they started doing Duets and late night in 1950 I think four when it went National
Was like the dawn of the internet it was this in crazy time where it’s like there’s late night TV that goes coast to coast and my parents were cording during that time my mom lived with her mother uh my grandmother moea and my dad would come over and moo who was Syrian would
Make Syrian food for my mom her sister and her brothers and he she would make like steak for my father so she was always started of my father who was my mother was beautiful my father was incredibly handsome he was in the Air Force at the time and they tell a story

Maybe Ambitions so he ended up being more behind the scenes and it makes you wonder like if he were you know you know he walked so Pete Buddha could run into office we hope but during and I don’t have a he went to like a humble College
He got very involved in politics he met a young Bill Clinton a long time ago and Bill Clinton was a was a road scholar and whatever and they used to like and he was in DC and they would like sleep on each other’s floor and they visited
Each other and he really they really had a great connection and one of the controversies was he campaign for Clinton he focused on Clinton in 92 when no when other people weren’t because Clinton kind of came from nowhere as you recall and with the idea and and Clinton
Was the first person to actively speak to queer people to actively campaign queer people to promise them and one of the promises was to repeal the ban in the military and when that when in office Clinton faltered and just did the don’t tell don’t ask don’t tell and it
Caused a rift between the two men for a long time they ended up preparing it but ugly politics right but as far back as um in the 70s I remember hearing about this there when Ronald Reagan was governor of California there was um a bill to ban homosexuals from being
Teachers do you remember these things like oh my God remember that yeah like it’s almost like trauma like you’re like oh my God I forgot that even happened and and mixner created um here was Ronald Reagan you know with sits on the on the White House this Ultra Conservative Republican and he
Said to him you are running as an ultra conservative you are about you know at that time less government interference so you can run on this and and say that I don’t want to be in the bedroom I don’t want the government in the bedroom of teachers you know I don’t want us
Governing that and that was Reagan was able to wrap his head around that to protect his reputation and he backed off his support of that bill as as as a result it did not go through so David Mixon these are just a few examples he’s been there and been there and been there
And done so much of the hard work and and AIDS you know funding and and just been a a a a brain and a voice and if there’s controversies about his life I don’t know of any of them I just know he’s always been there my friends Steve
