So uh okay y’all we’re GNA we’re g to I want to talk today and get us into some uh Carl Daniel I see you my friend uh I want to talk today and get into some subject matter if you all saw uh what’s out there uh that we want to talk today
About you know why does the church need to talk about sex and why do you think that we don’t talk about it um as we’ve been traveling through Proverbs the series I know that we went through Proverbs Noonday nuggets to open up the year the first 31 days of the year uh
But you know why do we need to talk about you know the issues of sex and um why is it so important for us to talk about it um just so many of you know uh I have some copywritten material um and I say that copywritten material called
The biblical view re the the biblical view of sex a class that I authored uh through years of youth ministry as well as when I taught at the college biblical studies as the co-director for the Center for Youth Ministry at that time so we taught that class there authored
That hey ladies sister hi Tower sister uh Lynn and also did a conference for a number of years uh called uh sex and the gospel so this material has been authored this material uh has been put in book format has not been published yet uh we’re taking it to uh my wife did
An amazing job having everything transcribed and uh to where we can put it in book format so in in workbook format but for years uh in Ministry I be had the opportunity along with my wife to teach teenagers about sex and and from that the fruit of it is God allowed
Us and uh Mike Ward who’s actually uh on here with me Mike D we were on staff together at First Metropolitan church he taught the middle schoolers I taught to high schoolers and we saw a lot of fruit from teaching teenagers about sex uh Mike and I knew each other from college
Uh pledged the same fraternity and although both of us were raised in church we weren’t living the what you call solid Christian Life of sanctification maturity and growth in this area of life and so it was when we started walking with the Lord and growing and maturing and getting in
Church and really having some uh some real legitimate fraternal Fellowship among some guys Robert Triggs Adrien chance Robert my son’s name is Robert Chance named you know after Robert Triggs and uh Adrien chance my great-grandfather Robert Wilson uh my fraternity my dad’s middle name Robert Robert Gregory my big brother in the
Fraternity so there were some influential Roberts in my life and so that’s where that name comes from but as we all uh Chris mza what’s up man uh what’s up uh Northeast Austin baby uh so a lot of us started you know as adults kind of you know walking with the Lord
Growing and maturing in the Lord but here’s the thing that uh I think that although I was raised in church went to Christian schools and all that kind of stuff I was never really taught the the biblical view that God had on sex and so
I’m going to pray for us and then I want to talk to the results of what we saw from teaching teenagers biblically about sex and how God bore fruit out of that thing to where we have kids from our youth ministry that started dating in our youth ministry uh went through
College dating married each other virgins and you know have had fruitful relationships with fruitful kids and it was because the god the god of the Bible allowed us to teach kids what he had to say in the word of God about sex and instead of us concealing it and or being
Afraid to teach it man kids embraced that thing and they walked with it and we got fruit out of it and so I want to really pray uh just for that and uh what what it is that we do so that we can continue to change Generations amen
Father uh Lord we come to you right now and Lord we come to you just asking you to help us today Lord help us to be able to discuss the issue of sex that what you authored and that which you manufactured and that which you blessed
Uh God for husbands and wives and yet God the reality of our fallen nature and our sin uh God that sin nature that has been passed down from Adam to us and then not only Adam to us but God our very own uh active life of falling short
Of the glory of God and not obeying your word God for the best but God has spent time in our worst and so as a result Lord we’re thankful for the cross that cleans us up and uh Lord allows that past that we were engaged in to be clean
And allows us to manifest a new life but God I pray for families in general and on a large scale God that you would Minister to us and to many Church chur es God as we try to uh Minister God in such a way that we could recognize what
It is that you’re doing and so uh Lord speak to us in Jesus name amen all right family so today um let me just let me just mention this real quick as we have as I was mentioning earlier my good friend uh Mike Ward who’s on here uh we
Taught teenagers as youth pastors about the area of sex uh in the the Bible from a Biblical perspective and we also taught uh not coming to the table as virgins Andor the perfect guys but from what we learned after we started growing in the faith and as we started growing
In the faith and walking uh this walk with the Lord there were a lot of things that we realized and we benefited from and our teenagers that we taught in Ministry benefited from knowing the things in the areas in which we failed in to where the church just did not talk
About sex and I think that it’s important for us to know and to as a as a Christian body of Believers to recapture uh the glory and the intent that God had for sex among couples that were married and um also not to fall under condemnation but to fall into
Conviction we were having a conversation earlier with our staff that when we talk about sex in the church sometimes people feel a condemnation because of the mistakes or the sins of our past and condemnation allows you to stay in a state I feel bad and I am stuck in this
And I’m in a bad way and I feel bad but it doesn’t move me anywhere condemnation does not change your situation condemnation allows htin and our filthiness God is convicting us to clean us up to show you that there’s a better way that there’s something wrong with
What is going going on in my life and so let me give you some practical physical things in the world that let us know that we’re not doing well in relationship to in relationship to sex this is some practical stuff right now um think about the reality of how many
Kids that we have being born out of wedlock had we followed Genesis 1: 26-28 which is God’s original purpose of sex uh um if we follow Genesis 1: 26-28 in the very beginning of the Bible God the author and the manufacturer of sex here’s what he says and at crossover the
Where we where we pastor and where we lead we want to have a congregation that is well informed so that we can do the things and or correct the path and walk to the path of life and wisdom and so in Genesis chapter 1: 26-28 it says
This God said let us make man in our image according to our likeness and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over and over all that’s on the earth and over every
Creeping thing that creeps on the earth God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him male and female he created them watch this verse 28 and God blessed them and God said to them be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth and subdue it and rule over
The fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on earth now watch this verse 28 and God blessed them and God said be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth the original purpose of sex in the Bible
Was procreation what do you mean by procreation it was the reproducing of the image of God through the sexual relationship between husband and wife that when husband and wife came together and had sex blessed by God with God’s favor upon it that God would bless us to
Have a child when God blessed us to have that child we would train that child in the ways of God we would represent present and reflect the ways of God to our child and as a result our child would grow up and trust in God and be a
Glory reflector and an image bearer of God why because they saw it in their parents they saw a faithful dad who followed God they saw a faithful mom who followed God and Azel the this God is so amazing and so good as seen through the life of my parents that I would also
Want to follow the same God and experience the same blessings that this God gives so that’s the original purpose of sex in the Bible Genesis 1 ver 26-28 procreation I teach this in my biblical view of sex class and like I said for those that are out there I pray that
You’re not here to steal but that is copywritten amen so but I want to say this um here’s the important thing that we’ve got to understand God was the original person to talk about sex god made sex a public issue it was public but we’ve now made sex a private issue
Now notice this that when God created Adam and Eve he created them and they were both naked and the Bible says that they were naked and they were unashamed it was not until sin occurred when they uh ate of the fruit and disobeyed God’s command that the initial thing that Adam
And Eve do is that they go and they cover themselves they make loin coverings they cover the so-called private areas of their life that God originally created to be public so not only were Adam and Eve naked in front of one another they were also naked before God what
Does that mean it means that God had given them a relationship to where he did not want anything to be in between us and anything in between him in other words that God wanted us to live lives that were bare in front of him to where we didn’t have to hide anything we
Didn’t have to cloak anything away or be ashamed of anything that that we could be public before God so God that that was the original relationship that God wanted it was until sin occurs that Adam and Eve began to cover themselves up and so now as they begin to cover themselves
Up because they’re trying to hide area of their lives to make private so now practically today we make the bedroom private and so we try to keep the bedroom private but yesterday in Proverbs chap 5 verse 15-20 uh Proverbs 5:1 15-20 we read something out of the New Living
Translation and it’s also in The New American Standard he says uh that you should rejoice in your own wife uh that you should drink fresh water from your own well uh you know fresh water from your own sister and God says only really engage with your wife that was the
Original ideal designed by God and the question would become is okay this is a way over in Proverbs the middle of the Bible Solomon now this is after Moses why is this important because I want to get to to Jewish teaching of their children so that we can understand
What we need to be doing in the church so in Exodus 20:14 it says Thou shalt not commit adultery at 5 years of age to 12 every Jewish boy is now being taught the law and girls are being taught the law or the Ten Commandments that they
Would know the Ten Commandments it would be part of their doctrinal teaching on a daily basis for at least 7even years up until the age of 12 that that these kids would be taught thou shall not commit adultery now understand that the Jews were an oral culture which meant that
They passed down stories they passed stories down so you said well why is that important because when a kid asked the question what does it mean Dad to not to commit adultery the Jews would say do you remember our ancest Joseph and young Joseph was sold by his
Brothers to the Egyptians well from the Israelites to the Egyptians and he’s working in Piper’s house and Piper’s wife was trying to approach Joseph and Joseph did not uh sleep with lay with Andor be with Piper’s wife because he said hey how could I sin against God
You’re not my wife you’re my Master’s wife so that’s adultery if Joseph would have slept with another man’s wife that’s adultery so not only is there the principle found in Exodus 20:14 but there’s a person in a practical situation that the Jewish parents would have taught their kids look how he
Avoided Piper’s wife and he avoided Piper’s wife not because she would get a disease possibly not because he would get her pregnant or anything like that not because he would get CAU he avoided it because he loved God he said how can I do this horrible thing and sin against
God so when we begin to talk about sex we got to make sure that that our love for God and him is greater than our love for our lust our love for God is greater than our love in our lust and so um that story would have been told but that’s
About Joseph well why would Joseph at 17 know to avoid uh this encounter with Piper’s wife well Joseph has a dad and his dad’s name is Jacob and Jacob when he was uh Genesis CH 29:1 15-20 when Jacob was interested in marrying Rachel who he saw was beautiful of face and of
Form the Bible says that Joseph Jacob had to work seven years in order to pay the bride price for Rachel and Leah he had to work seven years why because a woman’s virginity that we’ll find out later was worth five years of salary you had to pay for her virginity with 50
Shekels of silver that was five years of salary as I said in church yesterday that that was a man working for five years because of the value of the girl who’s taken off the farm or the Agricultural Society in which that daughter lives okay now why is that
Important because the daughter was was helping with the with the livestock the Dieter was helping with the crops so she was productive uh as a if if a man had daughters but once his daughter got married she was removed from that farm Agricultural Society and she was with
Her husband now so the dad would have lost out on on her productivity so her value was connected to her productivity and what she was doing so then you make the payment the bride price Exodus 2216 and 17 uh Deuteronomy 2228 and 29 you make the payment
So Jacob had to work seven years to have two more years of salary stored up so that he could not only pay for the bride but have some comfort for her family so financially he was a man that could handle it well why did Jacob have to do
That because his daddy Isaac in Genesis chapter 24 didn’t have to do that now I’m walking backwards from Genesis 39 to Genesis 29 Genesis 24 Isaac didn’t have to do that because Isaac’s Daddy was Abraham and Abraham was connected to his daddy and because Abraham was connected
To his daddy in Genesis 24 says that Abraham was rich that Abraham in Genesis 24 verse 10 and verse 53 goes out with the bride price to pay for the wife of Isaac there was a bride price that was being paid because he was connected to
The Father the father knew that his son was going to get married because the father was involved and choosing the young lady that would that would marry his wife and the bride price be paid so the father s in that culture had to be connected financially and Wealthy
Financially for this bride price to be paid now think about the destruction of our families today because Abraham paid the bride price for Isaac to marry his wife but Jacob had to go work hard because he was not connected with his daddy Isaac because he had run away
Based on the situation with with with uh with with Jacob and Esa so he’s got to go work seven years cuz his daddy’s not paying the bride price so on a practical level look at the breakdown of the family and how much harder it is when there’s males that are designed to be
Heads of the homes not connected to their fathers and their fathers were designed to assist them in the bride payment now these are stories that would have been told so so so Jacob Waits seven years for Rachel gets tricked into marrying Leah Genesis 295 through uh 15
Through3 and then ends up having to work another seven years for Rachel because the girl had to be paid for she was valuable these are all stories that were told in the Jewish culture so then the Jews would have had an understanding not just of the principle don’t commit
Adultery but they would have had people that they could connect those stories throughout why because the legacy of faith is being passed down as the Jews would pray to the god of Abraham Isaac and Jacob three generations so these are conversations that are being had why doesn’t the church talk about sex
Because the church is keeping things private and when we keep things private then we get informed by the world and not by the word and as a result many of us starting with myself although raised in church but not having any type of deep biblical relationship with the Lord
And or the Holy Spirit uh Andor you know God the father but being raised in church it it’s 25 years of age 24 years of age that I start reading the Bible on my own living in Houston away from college after all these mistakes have been made high school after all these
Mistakes made but I’m 24 and 25 just starting to read the word Proverbs 567 like man this is in here and God’s like Blake it’s been in there since you were Sacred Heart uh in elementary school Blake it’s been in there since you were at St Stevens in 7th 8th n9th and 10th
Grade Episcopal School it’s been in there since you were raised in Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church but you didn’t open up your Bible and read the stories so it’s not that there’s not just a responsibility on my dad or my mom or my my teachers but Blake did you open up
The word of God and read uh for yourself and so while my dad and mom probably weren’t taught these same things either because the church doesn’t preach about them doesn’t teach about them but understand how important that this area is that this is not just about a howto
Class on sex as we talked about last week in the message wise sexual conversations it’s a who with who are you guiding your sons to guiding your daughters to marry so that the generational Legacy of faith can be passed down or are we just getting us a boyfriend getting us a girlfriend based
On how they look they don’t know nothing about God and then these be these are the people that you know uh althor your grandchildren and so my question to us today is uh all right Chris man see you later bro uh my question is why don’t we
Talk about the things that are necessary because when Proverbs come up Solomon is writing to his sons and here’s something that you got to understand as the Bible Bible weaves itself together Solomon um comes from a relationship uh that got started through adultery that David took Uriah the
Hittite wife for himself sleeps with her gets her pregnant the first baby dies right Solomon is the second baby that God allows to live and Solomon becomes king in David’s repentance Andor failure from in sin he ends up writing two Psalms Psalm 32 you can put it in the
Chat Psalm 51 David writes those psalms those psalms now become public to all of Israel so as Solomon is being raised and people are singing Psalm 32 or praying Psalm 32 or singing Psalm 51 and or praying Psalm 51 Solomon knows that this story is about my dad and mom and David
Is able to teach from sexual failure how he desires for his son to have sexual success and so these are things that are written down and are recorded So that Solomon could have the wisdom that he needed now here’s the deal yesterday I made a statement in church is that our
Children have to have the information Proverbs 51 and2 so that they can make wise decisions let me let me go to Proverbs 51 and2 um Psalm 3 2 and Psalm 51 Psalm 32 and Psalm 51 now let’s go to let’s go to Proverbs 5 just real quick
Proverbs 5 verse 1 and two and this is this is something that we got to get in Proverbs 5 verse1 and2 it says this my son give attention to my wisdom and incline your ear to my understanding in other words son I need you to give attention to what I’m getting ready to
Say based on own practical experience as it relates to the adulterous situation my son give attention to my wisdom incline your ear to my understanding that you may observe watch this that you may pay attention to see and recognize the situations that are getting ready to
Come down and or may come into your life that you may observe discretion and your lips might Reserve knowledge now the word knowledge I mentioned in church yesterday is premeditation it it deals with the word pre premeditation that you have premeditated information so notice this Proverbs 51 and2 pay attention my son
Give attention to my wisdom incline your ear to my understanding that you may that you may observe discretion recognize it and your lips May Reserve knowledge watch this for the Lips of an adulterous drip honey that’s Proverbs 51 and2 and the very next thing he says I
Need you to understand the approach and the attack of the adulterous woman for her lips drip honey now go back to Proverbs 2:16 and this is where we started sexual conversations yesterday was wise sexual uh situations and unwise sexual situations last week was wise sexual conversations in Proverbs 21:16
What why did I point out the word premeditation premeditation means that your son who’s going to experience situations has to have information so that he can make decisions that will determine his situations he’s got to have information conversation through conversation that gives him the ability to make decisions so that when he sees
The situation he’s ready and prepared Proverbs 216 to deliver you from the strange woman and from the adulteress who flatters with her words so when he gets to Proverbs 51 and3 he says for the Lips of an adul to drip honey and smoother than oil is his speech he says son you
Need to know her approach and her attack come through the mouth her saying nice things to you to the degree that she inflates your head massages your mind so that she puts you in a position to forget the words of God forget the words of wisdom forget the words of your
Father and as a result watch this she ends up having you to fall her approach and her attack starts with massaging your mind seducing your brain saying flattering things to you so now son here’s the deal I’ve already talked to my son about this so the reason that my
Son can’t notice this observe discretion and pay attention and recognize things and his lips Reserve knowledge how do his lips Reserve knowledge I thought it would be your brain reserved knowledge will you know when you’re talking to yourself in your mind about a situation
Like hey man I think that you may not be talking out loud see now other words his son is rehearsing the premeditated information that his dad has already taught him so that when this adulterous woman comes you’re prepared and you’re able to recognize the situation many of

Us to make sure that we got some to prove that you were a man’s man and so but these conversations have been had now notice this but you have examples like guess what Jacob you have examples like Joseph who were all men who waited and in that culture waiting was the
Expectation but then there’s something in Proverbs Chapter 5 that I want to read to you uh as well to go with this in Proverbs Chapter 5 Verse 18 He says let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth this is Proverbs 5:18 rejoice in the wife of our
Youth okay that’s biblical rejoice in the wife of your youth in other words son get married early get married early you’re biblically strong enough you’re scripturally uh living out the truth you’re financially able to so rejoice in the wife of your youth many of us in our
Cultures man look here man dog sew all your oats man s all your Wild Oats so that when you get married man you ready to get married and stick with one woman but we were told SE your oats but the Bible says no get married first and SE
Your oats with your wife so that you’re giving your wife her very best your very best that it’s not as we read yesterday in Proverbs 5:15 through2 in the New Living Translation that you’re not just out there having sex with just anybody you’re not just out there having sex
With everybody in the world and wasting your seed that was designed to be fertile that you’re not you’re not misusing your seed but here’s the deal when the church doesn’t talk about this then our young boys don’t know how to make wise decisions our young girls are
The ones that are talked into according to Exodus 22:16 and 17 they are the ones that are seduced out of their vgin out of their virginity and so as they get seduced out of their virginity keep your finger in Proverbs 5 go to Exodus 22:16
And 17 you know and now watch this the church is scared when you’re in church service talking about this because the church doesn’t talk about sex and therefore we end up with all these babies out of wedlock we end up with all these situational diseases and things
That we end up having because of our lack of talking and instructing check out Exodus 22:16 and 17 now realize that the Ten Commandments are just two chapters in front of this The Ten Commandments are just two chapters in front of this and so he’s they’re
Talking and he says if a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged so this woman watch she’s a virgin she’s pure she’s not engaged she’s single and he lies with her he must pay a do for her to be his wife now nobody ever told you in
High school when you got this virgin girl cuz you were always man look here she’s a virgin she’s a virgin so a virgin was supposed to be better than someone who had been out there uh two or three other guys four or five other guys

Call today a Church Girl he says man you can talk a Church Girl out of her virginity okay if you talk to her the right way now in other words the same way that the adulterous woman uh talks you into this sexual situation is the same way the man can talk these girls
Into these sexual situations based on what he says to her that she’ll end up giving up her virginity but watch although she gave it up check out what the Bible says if a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged in lives with her he
Must pay a doll or a bride price for her for her to be his wife now why does the bible say that you got to pay a bride price to make her your wife because God only speaks Bible he knows all languages but he only speaks Bible what do you
Mean by that Pastor Blake is that when God sees a man and a woman come together based on Genesis 2:24 consummation not procreation but now consummation that a blood Covenant has been established what God sees anytime sex is had God sees marriage he does not interpret it any
Other way so he says that girl that you just slept with look here that’s that’s your wife because I see the act of consummation as an act of marriage I don’t see it as you just out there sewing your oats that’s not why I see it
So this girl that you just slept with you got to pay the bride price to make her your wife now watch but now once the father knows that you slept with his daughter the text says if her father refuses to give her to him so that the father could ultimately say man you
Stole my daughter’s virginity and you have devalued my daughter so it says watch this and so I’m not going to honor you who have slept with my daughter before marrying my daughter so I’m not going to give my daughter to a man who devalued my daughter but watch what God
Still says he shall pay money equal to the dowy for virgins so when you slept with Somebody’s Daughter and it was found out you had to pay the bride price whether the father gave her to you or whether the father kept her so you still had to honor her by paying the bride
Price that she was still valuable after you had seduced her and devalued her so you got to pay the bride price so why when when the five the six the seven the eight the nine the 10 the 11 the 12 year old would have known all of this they
Would have been taught this now here we are in church and pastors teaching and folk get nervous and the service and scared because pastors teaching on sex and you know and really it’s because you’re living under a mindset of condemnation versus conviction and redirection that God is redirecting us
God is rerouting our our way and as God does that it’s now that I know better as a Believer I begin to do better so it’s when I read Proverbs 56 and 7 it’s when I read Exodus 2216 And1 17 that I began to repent and not just live in remorse
See a lot of folk man I’m remorseful man I wish I would have done that no but have you changed have we repented over our past sexual sin and not only repented but now know that God through the cross has covered them so I don’t have to live in shame anymore I don’t
Have to live in condemnation condemnation those were the things that had conviction on my life that allowed me to know that man I’m in need of a savior who can wash me clean and white as snow and so I bring this up in this manner to say church we got to do better
Because we have now an opportunity based on what we’re learning through Proverbs to change a trajectory of future Generations we don’t have to stay stuck in our failure David has given us an outline I wrote a Psalm and I wrote a prayer Psalm 32 and Psalm 51 about my
Sexual failure and I got the Forgiveness that I needed from God and now let’s go to Psalm 51 go to Psalm 51 many of us are staying stuck when God is saying no move on don’t don’t stay stuck that’s condemnation but moving on that’s conviction Psalm 5
51 here’s what David says because many of us as parents we want to teach from our Perfection and our success where God is saying no you can also teach from your imperfection and your failure because it’s been cleaned up at the cross so David says this um
Psalm 50 I’m in Psalm 51:10 I’m I’m all the way in verse 10 now after David’s sexual failure and his conviction and him writing Psalm 51 he says create in me a clean heart oh God create in me a clean heart oh God now notice this that
