There you go Brothers thank you very much for joining us this afternoon I wanted to put together a webinar uh that’s that’s near and dear to me because when we start to talk about stem often times we forget about the mathematics uh that’s involved with it because in every technology science
Engineering it’s all applied math so we want to make sure that we provide this Foundation uh so that we can move forward and be uh relevant in the stem field so I serve my name is Emanuel Ro I serve as your Director of Education and we’ve been doing this for close to 80
Years so our education program was founded in 1945 and scholarship is one of our pillars so we want to make sure that we provide you with information that not only uh you could take out to your community but you can also use in your own household so I have my son here next
To me you can’t see him because he has on a purple shirt so he’s falling back a little bit uh but I wanted to introduce you all to to brother Lebron James brother LeBron James an esteemed alumnist of UCLA and Harvard University uh and he has been a transformative figure in math education
For over two decades his Innovative uh application to generative AI artificial intelligence as a certified prompt engineer has drastically improved math outcomes in africanamerican students at the Hem of stimulate solution LeBron Champions uh Equitable and C C culturally relevant stem education making significant strides and uplifting students performance renowned for mentoring
Teachers uh creating wonderful curriculum his methods incorporate music as you’ve seen and humor to demystify math LeBron’s Visionary approach is not just shaping current education practice but is also Paving the way for future generations to thrive in academic and professional Arenas ladies and gentlemen mostly Brothers but this open to
Everybody I want to introduce you to brother LeBron James yall give him a hand clap thank you brother Ro thank you brother Ro it’s so good to be here with my brothers and everyone else who is attending um like brother Rose said my passion has been mathematics for the
Last 30 years uh I’ve trained over 38,000 teachers around the country I’ve risen uh math scores from 10% in districts in Indiana to 83% proficient in math and so I want to share some of the secrets some of my secret SS and things that I know that are effective in
Terms of learning math but also how we as black men can develop a math identity which society often does not allow us to do they want to put other identities on us whether it’s entertainment or sports but as we’ll see in a second the core of
Who we are is mathematics so I’m go ahead and share my share my screen now and we’ll get this party started okay a quick overview for our session uh about 15 years I came up with a math framework called math is emotional so I’m going to share a little
Bit about the framework that I created and how it works then I’m going to talk about how do we play the game of school we got to teach ourselves and our students that on younger than us how to play the game of school and how you turn mathematics into
A team sport rather than an individual struggle then we’re going to talk about how we’re going to leverage AI for math support how we can support ourselves our families and our schools and our communities and then I’m going to give you just a little preview of how to approach
Mathematics because many times we aren’t taught the correct way in which to approach mathematics which makes it a little more difficult and challenging and then we’ll have some Q&A and just to let you know this is an interactive communal um exchange so if you have questions throughout the
Presentation please feel free to share or raise your hand and I’ll try to answer your questions in terms of me in the AI world this is who I am so my Alter Ego is the math man that way I don’t get confused with the basketball player so I’m just LeBron
James the math man not the other guy that lives in La wait you don’t play basketball exactly not a lick but you know if you do the math you can own a basketball team so that’s the that’s the path that I’m on so this my my Alter Ego
Here so now I would like everyone in the chat to please put one thing that you like about math and one challenge you have in math in the chat and you have 30 seconds to do That you Need to hear in the chat what you have you Like yes all right so I see uh money can’t do anything without money yes I see Luther you’re right about that math is everywhere I love it the challenge is teaching old school ways the new school way yes there you go so those some of the things we’re going to
Talk about today is how do we move from the old school way of looking at math to the new school way but the math itself has not changed so if you have 10 people blindfolded standing around an elephant and you tell it to touch it some may
Touch the tail and describe it some may touch the foot and describe it some may touch uh the ear and describe it and they may sound like they’re describing something different but they’re all talking about the elephant and that’s the same way it is with mathematics there’s different ways to approach it
And look at it but it’s all the same manth so I’m asking um Brothers to turn off your uh your mute and tell me does everyone see the rectangles or raise your hand if you see the rectangles I do I do okay okay great now
Tell me uh tell me do you see the circles oh yes yes yes okay okay about now now do we see the circles what yes how many circles do you see how many circles are there total I see 12 no 16 16 I heard 16 16 there you go so there are
It is 16 yeah there you go so in life we have to understand we are trained to see things a certain way but there are other things there that you can’t see at First Sight until you’re given some insight so for most people they saw the the
Rectangles and then some people start to see the circles but once I click on a couple of them automatically you’re able to see all the circles that’s how it is in learning math they try to make us look at these rectangles for years but really there’s circles behind
Them and so part of my job as an educator is to show you the circles so you understand you are a part of the mathematics and so this is the concept I said I created math is emotional it’s real simple how you feel is how you
Learn and what you feel is how teachers teach so it’s important for everyone to understand that you have an emotional connection to mathematics you need to come to grips so what is your emotional connection to mathematics because that is what primarily determines how well you succeed see what you need to
Understand is in your brain the front is called the prefrontal cortex if you are afraid the prefrontal cortex closes and you go into what is called fight or flight mode you’re looking for safety but when it’s closed no information can get in but when you feel safe when your teacher shakes your
Hand when your parents give you a hug when your homies give you high five and you feel safe the prefrontal cortex opens up and anything any information can get in that’s the difference between schools that are highly funded in schools that are poorly funded so I taught at a private school that charged
50,000 a year I’m like I love my kids but I don’t love them enough to pay $50,000 a year so I’m like why would y’all pay that I said these teachers aren’t that great I’m with them every day they said true but we’re paying for the environment because we know if our child
Feels safe they can learn anything from anyone so we got to make sure that we understand what is our emotional connection to mathematics so that we can open up our prefrontal cortex in relationship to math and Let It All In and so now i’ like everyone to
Participate uh brother Ro is going to run a poll for us and I would like for you to click which one of these descriptions best describes your current relationship with mathematics you loved it do you like it is it just okay do you fear it does it give you anxiety or do
You hate it we’ll give y’all about 30 seconds to get this poll going I get my little it is T no but you can’t do it sorry 30 seconds starting now we’re almost them 16 of 18 we got two more people 17 okay wow this is good just waiting for one more
Person no we can’t do it sorry so yes so it looks like here the majority of us uh like math which is good a few of us love math which is great and then a few people say it’s okay then a couple people says it gives
Them anxiety so this is more of a positive group towards mathematics than the typical groups that I work with typically it’s more on the math anxiety math hate side but um I’ll say this kids or people don’t hate math they hate math teachers so you have nothing against the
Subject you have something against the person who’s teaching it to you so it’s never the subject it’s about whoever’s teaching it to you one of the big important things about mathematics is narratives so I want to share a couple important narratives about the power of mathematics and tell you about a few powerful
Mathematicians the first one this brother here is called his name was Michael Knox unfortunately he passed away I knew Michael Knox he’s from San Diego has anyone ever heard of um John Madden football I know a lot of cameras are on so I can’t tell if people have heard of
John Madden football if you can give me a thumbs up or okay I see thank you jerem uh John mad football have you heard of PlayStation has anyone heard of PlayStation well you’re looking at the brother who created both of those so this brother was a mathematician from
San Diego who created John Madden football and he created the PlayStation so make sure you let people know there was a black man who created Created those games then of course our brother Victor Glover an astronaut uh actually had the pleasure of meeting Victor when he was online
That was one of my highlights I can share but this brother now is an astrona mathematician and then this uh historical figure is man Musa uh who was the king of Mali so he was the richest person in the history of the world so not Bill Gates uh not the dude from uh
Amazon not Elon Musk manam Musa was wor in excess of today what would be about $400 billion so he was one of the brightest math Minds um in history and was the richest man in history then of course we know Robert Smith who who is the richest black man in
America not Steph Curry uh not the other LeBron James not Oprah not Drake but Robert Smith who is a investment banker and I want you to hear his word and advice and listen to the language he uses need to go and start your own company your own business cuz those guys
And there and here they’re going to make a bunch of money you’re going to think us a lot of money but until you are independ and until you run your own business you will never be free and this what Sam S told me and I remember that to this day
And I’m like what is he talking about I’m working for the greatest Investment Bank in the history of investment Banks but then I started to do the math now we made $78 million as a fee on the deal that we did for him he made $280 million
I’m like oh I’m on the wrong side of the equation again okay you notice that pattern but part of it you got to go under understand the other side of the equation notice the language he did the math he had to figure out what was on the other side of
The equation so this man is a multi-billionaire but his language is all mathematics success in any field is based on mathematics can you quantify can you recognize patterns and can you use those patterns to help yourself and help your community so I want to share some of these powerful powerful men
And back to the other side of the equation in school we’re not taught about the other side of the equation as to who are the creators and founders of mathematics so Egypt is the birthplace of mathematics and if you don’t have a map handy Egypt happens to be in Africa it’s
In Northern Africa despite what CNN Fox and all these other stations try to tell you Egypt is in Africa and so I went in 20 you see me on the camel there I went to Egypt to go study uh the pyramids and the mathematics and found out it’s the most
Incredible monuments ever made in history over 4,000 years ago and they still to this day cannot figure out the mathematics that we as black people use to create them so I’m going to show you a clip of one of the world’s most renowned experts on uh on pyramids and I want you to
Listen to his language I’m going play about 30 seconds to one minute but listen to his language and notice he never acknowledges that us black people created the pyramid so take a listen I think the pyramids were built to be honest I have no answer to that question
And anybody who tells you that he or she knows how the pyramids were built are not telling the truth because we don’t know we don’t know the Great Pyramid contains a number of of mysteries the Great Pyramid first of all is very big the Great Pyramid weighs 6 million tons
We its footprint is 13 acres it’s more than 750 ft along each side it’s 481 ft tall more than 2 and A2 million individual blocks of stone were used in its construction but it’s not just big it’s really really precise the great the Great Pyramid is locked in to the
Cardinal dimensions of our planet the Great Pyramid is targeted on True North within 360th of a single degree now no Modern Builder would create a large building and add onto his or her shoulders the additional burden of aligning it to True North within a fraction of a single degree they just
Wouldn’t get it they wouldn’t understand why it was important to do that but something drove the Builders of the Great Pyramid to go to a very great additional trouble not only to create this massive imposing Monument but also to lock it on to True North and that in other words for thousands of
Years through times through Dark Ages when human beings didn’t even know they lived on a planet never mind its Dimensions that Monument has been has encoded and speaks out the dimensions of our planet so notice he said thousands for thousands of years no one existed on the
Planet how could they not exist if The Monuments were already there 2,000 years before these people so he refuses to even acknowledge that we existed and that there was some kind of Dark Age and then a new type of human being was developed after that so I just want to make sure
We all know that the people you see here on the screen are the people who built the pyramids and so that is the the core of the math because you need to know who you are and where you come from in order to learn the mathematics that you’re trying to learn today and
Tomorrow so I’m G pause right here are there any questions yet does anyone have a question I can take one or two questions we’re still good okay let’s keep rocking and rolling so in order for today’s generation to succeed in math here’s what you need to know
Math is a team sport if anyone has ever told you to study alone do your problems alone prepare for your test alone to do everything alone they’re setting you up for failure take it from me when I was a math major at UCLA there were 3,000 math Majors five of us were
Black every math part you would go to in the math department there would be groups of agents at least five studying together they would not even even let me join their study groups until my third year I had to prove after passing every Calculus class that I was a real
Mathematician and then they allow me to join their study groups and in that I learned wow it’s so much easier to study when you divide up the work when you talk about the math instead of doing the math when I have four other brains chiming in and not just depending on my
Own so that was what blew my mind I’m like okay I’ll never do math again so especially for our black kids they love sports so if you love sports then treat math as Sports you should create a team get three to five people to be on
Your team right and just like you know um you know the the Warriors they got you know Steph Curry or or whoever you got to have a superstar so make sure there’s one or two a students on your team already step one two you want to spend at least 45
Minutes to an hour three times a week doing math with your team so you got to meet consistently with your team just like if you’re playing AA ball you’re practicing three four days a week which is fine you just need to do your AA math with your team three four times a week
For 45 minutes to an hour because whatever you spend your time on is what you’ll be good at so the Asians who are better in math and score better it’s not because they’re better than you they just spend more time than you when I was at Harvard I met with a
Chinese friend I said look why do you Chinese people so good at math he said well LeBron for some reason you black people let your kids spend all their time playing sports he goes That’s what how you think you guys get out out of your bad neighborhoods in China the way
We get out of our bad neighborhoods is Through Math so we do math games math Olympics because in China there’s only two grades 100% and 99% guess who the failures are exactly the 99% those are the failures in China so China is like LeBron we put in the same amount of time
To math that you black people put into sports the only difference is you got two million black kids fighting for 60 jobs and we got half a billion people fighting for millions of jobs so we know we gonna get a job if we’re qualifying that’s the only difference I was like
Wow I never thought of it that way so when you doing your homework you get the problems you divide them up everybody take five problems you don’t have to do all 25 Everybody Take Five I do my five you do your five then we talk
About it why did you do that when do you carry the one what did you do that for how did you do that you only ask each other these questions these are the plays you run from the Playbook what when why and how those are the only plays you run from the Playbook
Over and over again if it’s a two three Zone if it’s manto man man this is it this is the playbook for success in math and for the students you have to learn to study your opponent your opponent is your teacher now someone who I train teachers
How to teach math to black kids for a living so I’ve I’ve dealt with thousands and thousand teachers majority of them are white women their first concern is their safety so they want to control you sit down be quiet don’t talk shut up raise your hand so that once they feel
They’ve controlled you then they start teaching so you have to learn how to make them feel comfortable in the beginning so that they can then teach you so whoever your teacher is know who their spouse is and when their spouse’s birthday is know how many kids they have
Know the name of every kid and their birthday tell your parents I need three birthday cards and you give your teacher a birthday card for their kid your grade just went up one letter I promise you because it’s all about human relations 30% of your grade is how the teacher feels about
You and that’s the reality so that’s called doing the math and then with your team you got to create a plan and set a goal look are we going for a on this chapter we going for a b you set a goal because once you set
The goal you have an aim so you know if you guys won the game or lost the game what I do with the groups of kids in La they create aaou basketball team I said look I’ll be your coach as your AA math coach if you guys average a a on the
Next test I’m taking it all out for pizza so I make sure kids understand there’s a reward for winning just like when you win a game in a you get a reward people cheer the problem with math for black kids especially is there’s no instant feedback I don’t know if I’m right if
I’m wrong did I win did I lose if it teacher doesn’t grade your paper for a week and you don’t get a test back you’ve lost it you’re like I don’t know if I did well or not so instant feedback is important especially for black kids
So if they do well we got to reward them if they don’t do well we got to say something and let them know like you got to get back then and hit it again you got to treat them in math the same way we treat them in sports we’re the exact same
Way and then uh parents and students the biggest challenge I see is one studying has to be fun and social and two they have to drink way more water our kids these days are dehydrated and parents don’t know they drink too many sodas juices Hot Takis all those things have
Dous effects on the brain and the Brain can’t think or process because it’s dehydrated so you’re putting your own self behind the eightball by not treating your body and mind giving your body and mind what it needs first and then trying to learn the math on top of
That all right before I move to leveraging AI I’m just going to give a second to see if there’s if there’s any questions you can either raise your hand or put a question in the chat I’ll just wait a couple of seconds I see my man I think has a question yeah
Yes um why do you think the um the man like think that like um that like nobody built the pyramids why do why do they think nobody built the pyramids yes great great question here’s my my my opinion when you learn history history is where you get your self-confidence from
Because you know someone in my family has done it which mean I can do it too but the white Western culture did not build the pyramids they didn’t begin mathematics so they destroyed the history related to it and all the stories about it and now when you get
Stuff in school it’s primarily about Rome and Greece what did the Romans do what did the Greeks do well who did the Romans and Greeks learn from they learned from the egyp Egyptians so that’s why I’m giving you the connecting tissue to jump over the LIE of the Romans and the Greeks and
Connecting you right back to who you are you are African Africans created the first civilizations the first governments let me tell you one thing about about the pyramids not only were they unbelievably accurate but they used to have a place in the pyramid where when the Nile which
Is the main Waterway the main river it would they would cut a path from the Nile into the pyramid so when it rained a lot the Nile would flood and then it would raise the water level in the pyramid then the Pharaoh who’s like the
President would like oh my God we got a lot of water this year it’s going to be a lot of crops we can tax people a lot then when there was no water and the water level was low they’re like uhoh people are going to be struggling this
Year so this year we’re not going to tax people how smart and humanistic is that in America now we tax people at the same rate no matter what the economy does it goes up or down which shows you we don’t care about Society we don’t think about
Nature and the holistic thing that just shows you the intelligence of the Egyptians that’s just one example so great great question my man great question thank you so now I want to move on now to how to leverage AI for Mass support so uh I
Have a personal mission and I hope I can get as many brothers to join me as possible my mission for the last 15 years is to figure out how can I teach math to a million black kids every month that is my goal so I taught online
During the during covid and I trained 700 teachers because when I train someone their students are now products of M but now with AI I figured out how to duplicate myself 10,000 times that is the power of AI so I’ve taken a course I’m going to share a
Couple of concepts with you about leveraging AI for math here’s how you even the playing field typically remember that we had the SAT and all these standardized tests well people would pay tutors to train their kids how to take that test people would pay me $200 an hour in LA to train
Their kids how to take the SAT test now I didn’t have a lot of black families who could afford to pay me my rate so what I’m doing now is I’m taking Ai and I’m creating a digital version of myself with everything I know putting in
Ai and giving it to black kids so they have access to me 24 hours a day and now we can level the playing field so what I want to give you now is just a short introduction on how you right now can work for yourself
Or for your kids or the kids in your community to start getting AIDS immediately in math using AI first thing uh there’s a a bunch of different um platforms you can use I use myself chat GPT and there’s a paid version there’s a free version and a paid
Version the paid version is $20 a month and I highly highly highly recommend you get the paid version because when you pay for something you get a product if it’s free you are the product and so with the free version It’s collecting all your information to
Train their AI but you keep all your information with the paid version and you get way more power and more tools so consider using the paid version now the key to using it is just like Google depending on what you put in Google that tells you what type of
Outcomes you get in your search you have to be real specific about what you want then Google will give you a list of things closer to what you want AI is a 100 times better and faster when you learn how to put the right prompt in it gives you exactly what you
Want so for example if my son was in the fifth grade I would say chat GPT I need you to teach my son my fifth grade son how to do fractions but I want you to only use basketball analogies on how to teach it because that’s what my kid likes after
That give him 10 practice problems and then ask him questions one at a time until you feel he’s 80% proficient and then we can stop that is a very detailed prompt but that’s just one example of what you can do and it will give it right back to you and less than two
Seconds so when I’m training people I customize everything I do for each person so I could do a five Beta Sigma training so notice my AI bot is wearing blue and white so if I had to do this for the AKA I would say make a female
Pink and green bot I so I could customize everything all the time so I say create this picture with a black kid and somebody wearing blue and white so everything you want it can do it can create pictures it can create spreadsheets it can write uh proposals
It can do everything and save you at least 15 to 20 hours a week now as you practicing this with your child or for yourself in math since we’re talking math since we did not get 40 acres in a mule at least now we have Chad GPT because it’s your personal slave your
Personal assistant it can work for you 24 hours a day seven days a week and I talk to my AI I said AI do this you did a great job give me more of that I’m like you know what that’s not what I wanted get rid of that
And give me this instead because the more you communicate with it it learns you and then learns what you like how you want things delivered and then it gives you really specific things that you want better and better the more you use it so for your kids think I want to
Use my AI to be a personal tutor for my kids so if my kid is struggling with say um I don’t know decimals and percents tutor my kid on decimal and percents give them practice problems and tell them where you think they’re going wrong and how they can
Improve then you use it as a personal teacher here’s the trick once you make AI your personal teacher you will outperform every Asian in your school here’s why because Asians they go to school in their culture and language after school every day and then they go Saturday mornings
To learn so the Asians teach their kids what the teacher hasn’t taught yet so that when their kid gets in school it’s the second or third time they’re hearing it that’s where black people are messing up we let School teach our kids first and then what they do to our kids let’s
Remediate let’s remediate them let’s do intervention let’s hold them back let’s send them to summer school and then our kids get discouraged and they hate math and they hate school what you do is you teach your kid first what the teacher hasn’t taught using AI then when the teacher
Teaches you you like oh I’ve seen that already I already know that give me the quiz then your kid starts rolling and start getting A’s and then it starts feeling good then their confidence goes up then you always want to keep them one chapter ahead of the
Teacher always stay ahead of the teacher whatever you hear from your teacher should be the second or third time you hear it once you’re in that mode your kid will be straight A student and then it just it becomes natural it becomes a piece of
Cake and then also you can make your AI your Mentor so whoever you like as a mentor you can say AI be my mentor uh give me positive motivations give me a workout plan uh set help me goals how can I set goals this week um what what kind of
Chores can I do that’s going to make my parents give me more money I mean you can ask AI everything and once you get used to you will be amazed at how well this thing works excuse me so like I said we’ll make these slides available but remember you use AI
To clarify things that are not clear for you to help you prepare for a test that’s coming up and to get you a head start like I said if your teachers on chapter three you need be that AI I need an overview on everything in chapter
4 boom now if you gone through chapter 4 couple 30 minutes a day just extra 30 minutes a day explain it to me like uh in a cartoon turn it into a rap like Drake um you know you can make AI talk to you in any kind of way that you
Want then you’ll learn it and then you just be waiting for the teacher so soon as the teacher starts teaching you raise your hand here’s the answer then the teacher’s like oh my God you raise your you’re smart oh I see you’re smart you must be studying then your grade goes up again
In the mind of the teacher because 80% of your grade is in the mind of the teacher it’s not on the paper because I was a teacher for 15 years I know how we can manipulate stuff so if you in the mind of your teacher if they think you’re smart you’re 80% there
Piece of cake now when you’re in your in your your math teams and with your your a math team these are the only questions you ask each other what why when and where so you need to get this printed out s it on the table with some fruit
Some water maybe some hot Cheetos at the end if everybody gets a a and then this is how you talk to each other these are the plays you run this is your math language just like you have football language just like you have basketball language just like you have
Baseball language just like you have soccer language you got to have a language for Math and how to communicate with math and so for everyone this is probably the most important slide it is to me because this is what changed my world in terms of mathematics all math from kindergarten
Through calculus is only two things patterns and relationships that is it whenever you can see a pattern you’re doing math music is all patterns they have genres of music think about this there’s gen genres of music because each genre is a pattern country music follows a pattern Jazz follows a pattern R&B
Follows a pattern rap follows a pattern so you have to be able to figure out what is the pattern in relationship so looking at this figure here let me know if you can recognize at least three different patterns that are taken place in this figure so I give you about 10 15 seconds
To look and see if you can figure find any patterns in this figure one pattern here this 14641 does anyone see where the four comes from the four comes from this one and three right above it the 1 plus three above it gave us the four so now if you
See that six where’s that six come from that 3 plus three that’s above it that pattern happens all the way down this is called Pascal’s triangle it happens again here this 15 came from this five and this 10 but then notice there’s also another pattern and this diagonal one through 10
Saw that one that’s the first one I saw yep there you go yep so there’s multiple patterns in here so you just have to train yourself don’t think about fractions don’t think about algebra don’t think about geometry just ask yourself what is the pattern that I need
To see and what’s the relationship is it my dad is it my mom is it my first cousin what’s the relationship if something goes up there the other one go down that’s a relationship if I go left this part goes right that’s a relationship so all math is just patterns and
Relationships and so right now like everyone to triy this one problem and then we’ll begin to wrap it up so the most important types of problems we want to give our kids are thinking problems not problems that are traditional books we want to give our kids problems that make them think and
Struggle so that they feel excited once they find the answer so here work with your parents s can find how much is a panda worth how much is an owl worth and how much is a dragon worth you’re like what I know I had to have a pencil and paper
What I just wait a couple of seconds so I’m sure a couple of people will try it in interest of time I’m gonna I’m gon walk you through part of this together so if we see a panda plus a panda is 16 how much is one Panda
Somebody unmute and tell me how much is one Panda worth go eight eight very good there we go so we know one pan is worth eight so if this pan in the second row is worth eight and we have a panda plus two SS equals
18 how much is an ow worth five five wait that’s two yes that’s two hours yep yep two hours that’s it so we got perfect so we got the pan is worth eight and the owl is worth five so a owl times a dragon equals 10 so how much is the
Dragon work two two two yes there we go so we got the the Dragon is two the owl is five and the pen is eight so then the last one we need to know is two two dragons plus a panda is how much 12 12 12 perfect great job great
Job now this is a problem that everyone here with time could figure out but if I told you this was systems of equations that happens in Algebra 2 and 10 11th grade if I told you that in the beginning most people would prefrontal cortex oh I’m afraid of math bth is
Heart it was shut down and you wouldn’t think but if I make it fun and safe and use pandas and owls and Dragons It’s safe and now you’re willing to try and find the answer so this is called a systems of equations you have three variables pandas owls and Dragons so for
Three variables you need three equations so now I can go into the tech technical terminology of math after I let you have fun and solve this problem in a fun way that’s the problem with the way we teach math in school is we don’t make it fun
For kids first and then teach them the technical aspects second so great job there and so now we got a few minutes left so I want to open it up to anyone if they have any specific uh questions and notice all the people are wearing blue and white in the audience um and
Took me five CH I tried to say CH give me all black people but they said I’ll give you a few but I ain’t give you more than that I’m like okay I’ll take what I can get so one thing great great talk uh James one thing I’ll add to that too is
The same way with the systems of equations how you introduced it uh in a in a friendly manner you also got to introduce different types of math as well too because what you getting geometry is not the same thing you’re going to get in Algebra 1 and a lot of
Kids get shocked once they get from Algebra 1 to geometry and now they have to change the way they think to start looking at light trig and figures and then proofs and then they go back to Algebra 2 where they get introduced to three-dimensional figures and then they
Go to calculus or pre-calculus and see trig but they already saw it in Geometry but now they’re scared because how it’s introduced to them right that that’s a great point and so in ancient African times in the mystery schools which were the universities they taught everything
Connected see in the system we live in we break things apart we break knowledge apart this is English that’s science this is math this is algebra this year and then you do geometry and then you do we break everything apart so the Mind cannot process like how these things are
Connected so they would talk holistic Bally in Egypt which is why we were able to do things at a higher level because we didn’t break things apart we kept things together and that is why I say because of the system we live in you have to only look at patterns and
Relationships no matter what class you’re in that’s what keeps everything together they’re all patterns so there’s patterns in Geometry there’s patterns in algebra sometime the patterns in algebra overlap with the patterns in Geometry but if you just think patterns in relationships that’s the core keeps you connected year after year after year as
You go through the math are there any other questions before we wrap up oh then also I’ll also send you brother Ro a set of prompts that you can put on the website so you can go to I’ll have some some prompt templates that you can use for yourself and and for your
Students and I’m going to throw in a extra one uh that I created today where it’ll be your own personal tutor so you put in this whole prompt and it’ll just talk to your kid back and forth and so the only thing with AI it is not perfect
So it’s like 80 90% correct when it comes to math so it will for the simpler problems it’ll work but sometimes parents you need to be there just to double check but the learning that’ll be able to happen with your child to get far ahead will be amazing uh and it’s free
Will include that Y and so then uh as we begin to wrap up I want to thank everybody uh for attending I hope you found something uh useful and valuable in in this time and if you have any questions here’s my contact information my personal email address uh My Business website and I
Have two business websites here and then for those who are going to have to take the SAT at some point again they’re going to reinstitute it there’s a brother in La named Stephen Johnson who’s a phenomenal sat tutor and here’s his website he has created a video for every problem that’s
Given on the SAT black man so you definitely want to check out that site as well another great resource so we have one question in the in the peanut gallery if you study the questions for the SATs is that cheating no if you don’t study the questions that’s
Failing so if imagine this if I’m play in the Super Bowl and I’m not gonna watch any film on the team I’m going to play that’s ridiculous it’s ridiculous you always got to study your opponent if you’re going to study for any test you want any advice Advantage you can get
Here here I’ll give you another free one this is my hood math this is when I teach Hood math if I’m in the eth grade and I’m I have a math teacher I’m in seventh grade and I have the math teacher the Math teachers they don’t change their
Assignments or their test so the first thing I tell kids to do is go talk to a kid in the eth grade who took that teacher last year get all they test all they notes and everything now you’ll know exactly what’s going to be on the test because teachers don’t change their
Test that’s the easiest way to get an A so we have to we have to think outside the box we got to be more creative in terms of our education so remember never let School interfere with your education I say that again some of yall didn’t get that don’t let School
Interfere with your education yeah and I love what you said about uh creating a team because often times uh we like to suffer in silence right because we we’re the only ones that don’t understand it we’re the only ones that don’t get it but once you
Start working in a team and as as as Engineers all of our classes they they force you to work in a group so in other iines they don’t really do that but by being forced to be in a group you actually see what other people don’t
Understand and if you have a little bit more understanding you’re forced to explain it to them and by explaining what you do understand you end up having more knowledge and and kind of know where the holes of your understanding is because you just stop explaining
It exactly I mean think of it this way imagine pledging on a line of 10 and you never talked to your line Brothers you studied everything by yourself and then everybody took an individual thing we okay there’s 10 of us but we don’t lock up we don’t talk no
No no you can’t talk that’s cheating everything in life is about Community everything in life is about Brotherhood and community and working together so school has Twisted it for us so we got to untwist that and get back to what works for us yeah do we have any other questions
Uh so I dropped all the all the links that brother James had on his slide I dropped them in the chat for you all and I also dropped a survey if you all can please go ahead and fill that because as part of the education program we want to
Make sure that we provide you all with the resources that you need so if there’s more lessons or or more webinar we can provide to you um let us know let us know how we’re doing because we give the feedbacks to the presenters as well so they can improve their craft as they
Move along so we thank you very much uh for your time and patience I know you could be doing a lot of other stuff tonight we appreciate you spending the time and and building on the math and uh we see you brother Myers bringing your
Son in and uh you know we want to make sure that that we’re inclusive in everything that we’re doing so brother Hobs had a I’m going to stop the recording so we could you know be family yeah
