Phi Delta Theta Partners with the Live Like Lou Foundation

On March 11, 2024, brothers of the Georgia Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta had the opportunity to assist in a deck repair project through the chapter’s partnership with the Live Like Lou Foundation’s fight against ALS.

As part of the foundation’s Connect and Serve program, the Georgia Alpha chapter has been matched with community members and has performed service acts in years past. However, the chapter was recently made aware of the deteriorating state of a front porch and ramp, which brought about safety concerns for a community member.

“Connecting within our community is a core value in our battle against ALS. We have grown from one to four “adopt-a-families”, which is a program that allows us to connect with individuals affected by ALS,” said Philanthropy Chair Owen Anderson. “Through this program, we have been able to serve our community and support these families. This has included things like kickball exhibitions, helping to set up Christmas decorations, yard work, and even deck repair!”

With building supplies donated by Todd Lord of Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. and assistance from Mike Cain of Millstone Homes Inc., Phi Delta Theta spent the evening replacing the boards of the ramp and making it safe for use. This project is just one example of the Georgia Alpha chapter’s commitment to serving their community and assisting those fighting ALS.

“Outside of our “families”, we have held a pickleball tournament to help raise funds for Live Like Lou, our philanthropy. We also raised over $30,000 this past year for our Iron Phi challenge, with the money being donated to ALS research as well,” said Anderson. “We look forward to our continued philanthropic work and we could not be prouder of our work in the community.”
