On April 16th, 2024, the Georgia Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi held its first Lemonade for Literacy philanthropy event. The event took place on the chapter’s front lawn and was a huge success with the support and participation of over 300 community members.

All of the proceeds from the event will go toward Read>Lead>Achieve, Pi Beta Phi’s national philanthropic effort. Read>Lead>Achieve benefits children’s literacy and believes that reading is the foundation of all.

“Lemonade for Literacy was so much fun to plan,” said Director of Service and Philanthropy Caroline Brubaker. “We had a great turnout and collected so many books for our book drive! I look forward to Lemonade for Literacy becoming an annual tradition at GA Alpha.”

Each year, Pi Beta Phi chapters nationwide host Lemonade for Literacy events. The Georgia Alpha chapter plans to continue this tradition and be connected to other Pi Phi chapters through philanthropy.

T-shirts, lemonade, and cookies were provided at the event along with a live performance from Cam Smith. Additionally, members of the community could play cornhole or spikeball to take a break before the finals season began.
