Question of the day our graduate members paper hmm well let’s back up for a second again I’m only speaking for me I’m not speaking for my organization as a whole I am only speaking for me so don’t be like she said does 8oz do nice say nothing like that I’m telling you from
Things that I know of I’m not telling you about any organization and specifically I’m just telling you Greek things that I’ve been to come to know about back in a day a lot of people used to just assume everybody had a process everybody that came in Greek whether you
Came in undergrad or grad you had a process and that is still true to this day everyone who comes in has a process I can’t tell you what that process is or what it looks like because to be honest it’s different for everybody every org every chapter every state every region
It’s just different so I’m not gonna sit up here and be like everybody’s having a same process because they are not that’s just what it is now the first thing I will say before I even answer this question is Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated is a non pledging non hazing organization and
We’ve been that way since 1990 I believe there has been quite a few incidents that happened back in the past to which people were like you know what this pledging thing is not the best thing so I think we need to pull those reins back and just say you know what nobody’s
Going to pledge you nobody’s gonna have a process nobody’s going to do any of that stuff that you saw in school days or a different world or stomp the yard or whatever video the burden says that you’ve seen as your only reference to what Greek life really is
I have Greeks of my family I come from a lot of women who were interested in another org not Zetas and that’s cool you choose whatever organization that fits you now one thing I will say is as a person who was coming in you don’t
Have a choice in how you come in and when I say this every organization already has a process setup that you are supposed to go through in order to prepare you to become a member now whether you come in undergrad or grad at this point to be
Honest no one should be having a aboveground process at all no one should be pledging no one should be getting hazed that’s just what it is because there is too much liability going on people were dying people getting hurt and it was just at the point it just the
Benefits didn’t outweigh the issues that were having that organizations were having and it was just like you know what I don’t even think it’s necessary to even do this anymore so a lot of people back in a day would say oh if you came in grad that means you skated your
Paper and you didn’t have a process so I don’t respect you and I mean that still goes on now people really still look at graduate members as skaters or you win in an easy way and that’s not necessarily true I’ve known many Greeks who’ve actually came in and actually had
A process to where as they got to know information that you will not know if you did not come in without having a process or did straight MIP membership and take process as what is it is called officially called everyone goes through MIP that’s just what it is no matter
What organization you’re in every organization has a membership intake process now if you decide to do some below ground you know some underground type pledging hazing type thing hey that’s on you I mean I can’t tell you what to do or whatever you know but just
Know if you get caught there’s going to be some consequences and repercussions because for one there are people who ain’t with that they’re like you know what I didn’t join for this I don’t want to have this process I want to take no wood I don’t want to be up late at night
I want to do X Y & Z and a that’s just what it is now again no one should be having a process at this point but don’t sleep on graduate chapters and think that everyone that came in a graduate chapter is paper and don’t think that everybody that came in as an
Undergraduate chapter is not like a lot of undergraduate chapters actually follow the membership intake process and everybody is paper as you say they didn’t have a process they didn’t do anything to earn their letters they just signed a paper paint their fees and got it and people will assume because you
Came in grad that means you didn’t have a process that means you don’t know your information that means they can just say random little stuff to you or about you around you and you won’t get and it’d be real there’s plenty of people who did not have a process who won’t even know
What you’re talking about if you say certain things so I mean it’s always like people know who had a process who’s faking it and I’m sorry and who didn’t like I mean people want to keep on with this IKS or skaters because they process only three days
Long and deltas of skaters because they have a million people on a line they’d be having hundreds of people coming in at a time I don’t know what they do it in a organization there’s no way for you to know what is going on with them for you to be like yep mm-hmm
Paper yup yup look at them paper cuts yup I know you all know your LS is I know y’all know him how you know in granted having more than I don’t even say having more than 20 people come in online is a bit excessive but a that’s your organization that’s your chapter
That’s your business to bring in how many other people you want to bring in to be real with it so people really do need to stay in their Lane and stop always coming out the neck with stuff like when you go through your process the point is for you to be a better
Person not to rag on somebody else so when you cross over from Brehon well people like to call them a GDI or goddamn individual into Greek life some people think there’s this Eureka moment it’s like ding-ding-ding oh my god I have been totally forever changed that ain’t how it always worked for everybody
Late I believe some people do go through they have that process and they do come out a different person they do come out stronger and they also see it not only in their Greek lives they see it in their personal lives they see it in their academic experiences they see it
At the workplace they see it with their family members and that was the purpose of having a process is for you to be reborn or remade you to be broken down to be built back up and especially if you aren’t a you don’t come in on the
Line by yourself of your soul oh man I got to be pretty rough like I respect all y’all solos out there that came in because I mean coming into an organization you do want to do this with someone else you do want to share that experience with someone else that you
Don’t have someone else to look back at you know what I’m saying like I have an LS it was just the two of us that came in I love her to death we don’t always see eye we don’t always talk every day but we like this I cannot talk to her
For like two months call her got it you know what I’m saying and that’s something I will always always love I’ll bring this full circle back to what the original question was because some of y’all probably like you evading the question all I’m saying is don’t think because somebody came in
Grad they did not have a process don’t think because someone came in undergrad they did have a process I wish people would worry more about themselves than worried about how other people came in and what they are doing for the community don’t get me wrong people
Think because you come in as a undergrad you have a better idea of what Greek life is about not necessarily I mean I’ve known some Greeks to come in maybe that junior senior year and then they just dip like never went grad didn’t go to any conferences did nothing but then
We do have some grads who do the same thing who come in and just dip like they got they letters like that’s all I wanted deuces I’m aware order now you’re in the world but I ain’t gonna show up to do no work I don’t even know why you’re wasting your
Time so again that process that process can be happening at the grant level maybe it’s not happening at the grant level it could be happening at the undergrad level maybe it’s not happening at the undergrad level you have to realize people go through different stuff yes I know it’s illegal and I’m
Sure they know it’s illegal and I get any trouble for nobody so like I said if you want to risk yourself Hey do you I’m not telling you what to do I’m not telling anybody what to do but just know that ain’t what my organization is about
