🎵Music: Before I Let You Go by Frankie Beverly and Maze🎵 The mission of the National Pan-Hellenic Council is unanimity; of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek-letter collegiate fraternities and sororities and to consider problems of mutual interest and its member organizations
Black-letter organizations were founded during times of racism and oppression and created to provide a support system for members of the African-American community. There are currently nine organizations that make up the “Divine 9” At the University of Texas at Austin we have 8 of those 9 organizations
Unity among African-Americans who are attending a Predominately White Institution is crucial to the inclusion and acceptance of different cultures Black Greek Life gives African-Americans, an underrepresented population on campus, an opportunity to thrive Brotherhood within our fraternities is important because it creates a comfortable space among groups of men.
It creates a space where they can be free and true to themselves as well as encompass themselves within a supportive and uplifting sense of community Sisterhood within our sororities is important because it allows for a safe place to confide in someone who shares common interest and morals.
It allows us to be open, authentic, and honest with women who strive to uplift each other. And together, we stand united.
