– Hi, my name is Morgan Miller. I’m a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Incorporated Beta Eta Chapter. My name is Jada Jackson, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. I am our chapter present. – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated was founded on January 15th, 1908
On the campus of Howard University and has been serving all mankind for 115 years. Beta Eta Chapter was chartered June 3rd, 1933 on the campus of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and we are currently celebrating 90 years of sisterhood and service. – The mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated
Is to cultivate and encourage highest scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life and to be of service to all mankind.
– Being at a predominantly white institute with a black population of 4%, we work with our campus on pressing issues, professional development and support for the community to be role models and show that you can succeed at a university like this. – Our chapter has quite a few campus initiatives
That we do programming for. Through our Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack, we provide weekend meals and holiday meals to 60 families at a particular school in the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti area. We plant trees on campus and talk about proper waste recycling. We also work to advocate for social justice
Where we encourage voter registration and also educate students on campus on how to get registered to vote. – After graduation, Alpha Kappa Alpha is a lifelong commitment. You can either maintain your membership by joining a graduate chapter or maintaining general membership where you will continue the work that you’ve done
On campus and now serve a large community.
