Getting into this tonight it’s going to be a little controversial that’s okay don’t be afraid of controversy you see you only really learn by having your beliefs tested and a lot of people are un comfortable with having their beliefs tested those tried and true Traditions that they believe have gotten them through a
Lot and so they cling to those not even realizing that the things that they’re clinging to are not even biblical now first of all let’s cover this why is it important for your beliefs for your teachings for your faith to be biblical why is that important why can’t
I believe this why can’t I believe that why can’t I believe the other who are you to say that what my pastor taught me is not right who are you to say what my Bishop said is not right what my denomination teachers is not right who are you to

Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for Doctrine this word means teaching for Doctrine and then it says not only are the scriptures profitable for Doctrine but they’re profitable for repr proof and not only are they profitable for Doctrine not only are they profitable for reproof but they are
Profitable for correction and for instruction in righteousness now this word reproof is very important this word reproof is in the co Greek iOS AOS and ainos in the co Greek means proof conviction evidence that by which a thing is proved or tested so the scripture then it puts what you believe to the

Profitable for Doctrine or teach ing for reproof or the presenting of evidence that proves a certain thing for correction or to restore to an upright position to curb one’s passions to gain self-control and for instruction in righteousness for the training and the education this is what the scripture is profitable
For verse 17 that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works turn our attention to verse 16 in the New Living Translation all scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is
Wrong in our Liv lives it corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right God used it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work so as we can see brothers and sisters this is the benefit of the scripture and basing your beliefs on the

Crucial it is extremely crucial we’re going to Luke chapter 10 verse 25 and 26 and you’ve heard me reference this often Luke chapter 10 verse 25 and 26 so now we’re in Luke 10 verse 25 and 26 and the scripture reads and behold Behold a certain lawyer stood up and
Tempted him saying Master what shall I do to inherit eternal life this is The Question Master what shall I do to inherit eternal life Jesus says this answered his question with two questions he said unto him what is written in the law that’s the first question what is written in the
Law and the second question is how readest thou so you don’t just have to know what is written but you also have to know what it means and this is the key verse 25 and 26 New Living Translation one day an expert in religious law stood up to test
Jesus by asking him this question teacher what should I do to inherit eternal life Jesus replied first question what does the law of Moses say second question how do you read it and this is how we can have so many different denominations interpretations interpolations explanations and it all contradicts people ask this question
Often how do all of these Christian have the same Bible and all these different doctrines because it’s not enough to know what the Bible says but you also have to be able to explain and understand what the Bible means what does the word say and how do
You read it to most important questions you can ask yourself in studying the Bible or even in giving an answer or a defense to something that you believe you have to know what the word of God says and then you have to know what the word of God
Means and that’s where people get get into trouble all the time on these various topics and that’s the reason why we are studying this tonight what does it say that in the Bible we’re going to look at a few of these things stuff that church folks
Say where does it say that in the Bible you also need to know how does it read not only what does it say but how does it read not only what does it say but what does it mean and we covered this at length in our Bible study on how
To study the Bible yes we do need bible study on how to study the Bible because that’s a part of why we get so much wrong in churches why preachers have so many erroneous interpretations because they’re reading the Bible and then interpreting it out of
Context and a text out of context is a pretext and that’s the birth of so many false doctrines something is in the Bible but it appears in a certain context and you removed it out of his context in order to misapply it case in point as we get to our first saying
Here only God can judge me well it say it all the time Only God can judge me and yes before you ask I know that’s the name of a popular Tupac song from the 1990s and Tupac uh made it a song and it it kind of appeared on t-shirts and then
It just kind of went viral you know before viral was even a thing because we didn’t have the internet back then when this song came out but the saying definitely went viral spreading by word of mouth and it became the popular rendition of truth that only God can judge me
And then the Christians co-opted this and began to use it as a defense against being called to accountability for your sins oh so many Christians use this line to defend their pastors when their pastors were caught up in scandal after scandal after scandal caught up in adultery other debauchery coming up on sex
Tapes and all kinds of scandals stealing money and here come the Christians Only God can judge Only God can judge me here come the pastors even saying it Lord have mercy now you know it’s got bad when the leadership is taking up sayings from 1990s hip hop and popularizing it only
God can judge me does it say that in the Bible Only God Can Judge Me does it say that in the Bible does it appear well let’s look at it you’re got to learn some interesting things to tonight so we can begin our journey of course in Matthew chapter 7 that’s uh
That’s a great place to begin tonight Matthew the 7th chapter as we share screen with the word of God and in Matthew the 7th chapter you’re going to read a very interesting sentence here that’s given by the Lord Jesus and it says here judge not that ye be not judged judge not that you be not Judged and then they say oh hey there it is right there judge not judge not judge not and this is exactly what I was talking about earli this is a prime example of what I was talking about earlier you can know what the Bible says but what does the bible
Mean not only what does the Bible say but how do you read it how do you understand it if you read J J not that you be not judged and you come away from that thinking only God can judge me you can’t judge and who are me to judge and
Who are we to judge and who are he to judge and who are she to judge and this the kind of thing you come up with but does this mean that nope it doesn’t now I I’m I’m taking great joy here in reigning on your parade judge not doesn’t mean don’t
Judge how do you know that because of the surrounding verses because of the context because of the four verses that come after verse one so you can’t read the Bible and see judge not and just black black out the rest of it like like a redacted classified
Military document and all you see is Judge not and everything else is redacted everything else is blacked out fortunately God didn’t redact this document it’s not classified that means that you you can actually read the verses that come after this and get an understanding of verse one within the context of verses one
Through five which is what we’re about to do now if all I had was verse one judge not that you be not judged and I say okay since I don’t want to be judged because I ain’t right and I don’t want to be judged cuz then I’ll be condemned cuz I ain’t
Right I’m not going to judge other folks so then I won’t be judged and think about the mentality that develops from that uh since I’m doing wrong I don’t want nobody to point out what I’m doing wrong so I’m not gonna point out what anybody else is doing wrong so that mean
We’ll be all good and this is the type of mentality that has caught on in so many churches churches which is why you have so-called Christians living in debauchery so many Christians living in sin and loving it and get mad when you point out or try to bring correction to them they get
Upset they say you can’t judge me and then the other person say I can’t judge thee and when one person say you can’t judge me and then the other person say I can’t judge thee that means no judgment is taking place and guess what that’s exactly the way the devil likes
It you see the devil wants judgment taken out of the church and this is how crafty the devil is he’s tricked us into removing our own judgment out of the church see the devil didn’t have has to do it all he has to do is Whispering to the
Ear of a few preachers that are charismatic and all of a sudden this Only God can judge me stuff catches on and the church WIll begin to apply that to themselves and then we end up in the mess that we’re in right now when all
You have to do is just read the next few verses judge not you be not judged then he says this for with what judgment ye judge ye shall be judged and with what measure ye meet it shall be measured to you again so he qualifies judge not that you be not
Judged as meaning whatever judgment you give you’re gonna get if you’re Petty with folks God can be Petty with you so it’s not that God is not going to judge you God’s going to judge and if you want God to be merciful to you be merciful in your judgment
Towards others if you want God to be gracious to you be gracious in your judgment toward others but if you don’t mind God being petty with you then be as Petty as you want to be but just know that the pettiness of your judgment you’re going to be judged the same
Way if you judge other folks harshly God’s going to judge you harshly and if a holy God judges anybody with any degree of harshness you probably not gonna make it just an FYI then he clarifies even further and why beholdest thou the moat that is in thy brother’s eye but consider is not
The beam that is in thine own eye you see what happens here you’re beholding the moat that is in your brother’s eye that’s judgment you’re saying hey you got something in your eye but you don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye and the beam is
Bigger than the moat in other words you’re judging somebody for something very small but you got something real big real humongous real ginormous real enormous that you’re dealing with but you trying to be Petty with other folks and this is the kind of judgment that he’s saying don’t do verse four or
How will thou say to thy brother let me pull out the moat out of thine eye there’s the Judgment Factor right there let me do something about your impaired vision my brother and behold a beam is in thine own eye see when you trying to correct somebody else and you need
Correction that makes you what thou hypocrite that makes you a hypocrite but notice what he says here first cast out the beam out of cast out the beam out of thine own eye and then and then oh here we go and then look at what he says shalt thou See
Clearly to cast out the moat out of thy brother’s eye see the Lord wants the moat and the beam gone so that everybody can see clearly but in order for you to help your brother see clearly you got to be able to see clearly The Williams Brothers used to
Sing a song oh we sang this so much when I was in the Baptist Church growing up we sang the song so much sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine that was the song somebody else who gifted the thing can sing it
Better before you go to trying to sweep around somebody else front door make sure that your porch is clean first then you can go help your brother get his porch clean H because God wants you to help your brother you can’t help your brother and your vision messed up too praise the
Lord what I look like telling you you need glasses and I need glasses why don’t both of us get glasses so instead of seeing three we can see one praise the Lord this what we have to do you see how the brothers have to help each other
Notice how Jesus says and he clarify this say to thy brother thy brother’s eye do we see the use of the term brother here this is important because the term brother here means somebody that is in the faith uhoh we about to get real heavy now we about to walk heavy
Now now you might believe this or you might not believe this you may have been taught this or you may not have been taught this I don’t know only you can speak to that but the confines of this verse is dealing with your brother in the faith your brother’s eye say to your
Brother the one that you need to help see more clearly is thy brother this is not talking about people that are not your brother uh oh now I know this is going to be problematic for some of y’all but a lot of these verses that you have previously been applying to
Everybody the scope of the context of these verses is not dealing with everybody and this is where Christians get in trouble because they want to pass judgment on people who are not in the Body of Christ uhoh woo yeah listen we walk in heaven tonight if a person is not in the body
Of Christ they are not a professing Christian they have not believed the biblical gospel why are you trying to clean them up why are you trying to challenge them to walk uprightly and to live righteously and they are not in the body of Christ they are not your brother or sister in the
Faith see Street Preachers get in trouble with this a lot because they listen some of the Street Preachers that I’ve seen are so judgmental to people who are not in the body of Christ to people who are atheists to people who are secularists to people who are in other religions and they’re so
Judgmental about people who are not in the faith not even claiming to be in the faith and you walk so judgmentally toward them but when it concern your brother in the faith when it concern your sister in the faith you cover up for them you ignore their bad behavior their
Putrid personality the fact that they manifest no fruit of the spirit and you look over it because that’s your brother and sister in the Lord and you don’t judge them at all but the people that are outside of the faith those are the people that you’re the most harsh with you got it
Backwards but you gonna learn tonight you got it backwards but you going to learn tonight now you might not accept it but this is why I spent the time to cover the scriptures earlier you will not find one Bible verse that will contradict anything I’m saying here tonight and if you believe
